Although, I definitely understand and respect that a lot of my Veers originally opposed the Nanakshahi Calendar - and for good reason - I think it's necessary to reconsider your support for the recent changes. To show support for these changes at this point shows only short sightedness; something that has hurt the Sikh Kaum for far too long. We have repeatedly in our history gotten excited about issues and thrown ourselves head-on into one side or the other without considering possible implications - we need to analyze recent events in context of the Panth's current state of affairs. After the Ludhiana Kaand in December, these akhauthee leaders, such as, Dhumma came to the forefront and took what appeared to be an anti-Badal stance (even though, it looked like a farce - even then). Is no one else entertaining the thought that maybe these slimy tthugs have hashed out a deal to keep the peace and maintain the status quo? Is it not plausible that in return for amendments to the Nanakshahi Calendar, Dhumma and Co. have agreed to soften their stance against Badal? Would that not explain why the decision was taken in such haste and without consulting rest of the Kaum, contrary to Panthic Traditions? As sweet as the prospect of an amended calendar may be - we need to tread wisely and take a stand against Falsehood.

Just one example of these characterless 'leaders' hobnobbing with those they claim to be 'anti-Panthic'... I'm sure more can be found in Panthic Weekly archives...

I do not know much about the Calender; for Me Everyday is GurPurab; But..

About Badal! This I Know For SURE! Badal has for Decades Used the Same Tactics Over and Over Again! Each Time he has Succeeded! This Badal is Without a Doubt a Demon! A Badal (Mega Destructive Storm) in Reality.

He has For Decades made the Panth Fight with Each other by Making Different 'Jathas'. Then he Gives Full Support (including Punjab Gov't Support) to those on His Team! (which he created).

He has Divided Many Many Many and Created Many Many Many Jathas within Authentic Jathas! He has Made and Supported Fake Nihungs, Fake Sants, Fake AKJ, Fake Taksals, Fake Deras, A LOT!! And He Gives Those Support who will Keep the Panth Divided! REMEMBER! AS LONG AS PANTH IS DIVIDED! BADAL CAN CONTROL SGPC AND PUNJAB! HE HAS USED DIVIDE AND CONQUER FOR DECADES!! HE HAS AND IS TRAINING HIS DEMON SEED; SUKHBIR!! LUDHIANA WAS TRAINING HIS DEMON SEED THE SAME THING BADAL DID IN 1978!! BUT THIS TIME KHALSA IS WAKING UP!!!!! So When Taksal Split, I would like to Know which are The Splits? (There are usually 2 main ones. One that Badal Supports; and Another). The one that Badal Supports I would be Extremely Cautious Off. They do back door deals! And as long as Badals are Involved; There is MEGA Corruption Etc! "You Scratch My Back and I'll Scratch Yours".

Now in Ludhiana, when Dhumma did what he did, and blood on him and stuff, I was like 'Okay…Maybe He is NOT with Badal'. So now I am kind of a little on the fence. Before Ludhiana; I for sure thought Dhumma was with Badal.

The official Federation line on whether to accept Sant Ji as a Shaheed was that it was not for the Federation as an organisation to declare him a Shaheed, but for the Taksal to make this declaration. The Taksal for many years did not make this declaration and the Federation stood by it. When the head of the Taksal made the declaration that Sant Ji was Shaheed we accepted it and it has been the Federation's official line that he has been declared a Shaheed. Some Sikhs still do not accept that Sant Ji is a Shaheed and that is their choice as individuals and we respect they have different views.

I am in favor of this change

In recent weeks a number of Sikh organisations have issued statements to oppose changes to the Nanakshahi Calendar. The Sikh Federation (UK) wanted changes to the Calendar.

There has been criticism of the Calendar since its introduction.

The Sikh Federation (UK) wanted changes to bring an end to the criticism and restore Panthic unity, but maintain the separate Nanakshahi Calendar for the Sikh Nation. We have therefore applauded the decision.

We have expressed our concerns to the time taken to reach a consensus decision and the methods used to make the final decision. This shows the whole system needs to be reformed.

But one thing is for certain ordinary Sikhs have the utmost respect for the Akaal Takht as an institution so the amended Nanakshai Calendar will quickly become universally accepted.

Was the Sikh community of UK happy with the original format of NC implemented in 2003 at Damdama Sahib or the community wanted certain changes?

Did the Sikhs living abroad sent their objections, if any , to SGPC or Akal Takht office?

What are the major objections, if any?

Are the changes made in NC acceptable to the Sikhs living abroad?

Any dissatisfaction among community over the method adopted to make changes?

Why there is so much hue and cry from various splinter Sikh groups who claims that none of the Sikh living abroad would accept the amendments?

Which are the party, according to you, have political and vested interests?

This is a VERY GOOD move by Sikh Federation UK to support the long over due change in the calendar.

Only the non established so-called "Sikh" organisations in UK will oppose this move (and go against Dasam Granth Sahib) like the gold medal vale kulwant dhesi and tarsem deol of the so-called two band group British Sikh Council, or punjabi singer award vala Manmohan Singh's one-man Dal Khalsa UK who are only good for giving out paper statements against Dasam Granth Sahib (and supporting punjabi singers lol). These rogue modern day scholar doubting type organisations are not part of SIKHS as they do not accept PURAATAN traditions but would much rather side with the views and people like the omlet eating nutty professor darshan and the kala afgana lobby type.

I think a leading organisation like Sikh Federation UK in england also need to clear their stance by a press release (like they did with the calendar issue) on whether they are in support of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Dasam Granth Sahib BANI, and therefore the views of SANT BREHMGIANIS like SANT BABA JARNAIL SINGH JI BHINDRANWALE (or Sant Kartar Singh Ji or Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji or Sant Isher Singh Ji or Baba Nand Singh Ji, or even Sants of today like Dhadrianwale Sant and even the founder of AKJ Brehmgiani Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Ji) would they and all other REAL SIKH ORGANISATIONS rather follow these GURMUKHS OR would they rather follow modern day scholar missionary type doubters like the above and the the Kala Afghana lobby and professor chele lot!

Keep up good work Sikh Fed uk! Dont fall for any pressure exerted by any of the above names people and organisations - stay independent and stay true to PURAATAN sikh traditions!

Many Sikh organisations have issued statements that have appeared in Ajit against the changes to the Nanakshai Calendar. The Sikh Federation (UK) has been virtually on its own in issuing a statement in support of the changes to the Nanakshai Calendar.

An advert is now being placed by the SIkh Federation (UK) and others in Ajit in the next day or two in support of the changes to the Nanakshai Calendar.

Is the present changed Nanakshahi calendar based upon 2003 calendar designed by Purewal? Or is it based upon some old calendar that predates 2003 calendar. I think the calendar is still Purewali calendar (as some members call it) but with some amendments taken from bikrami calendar, the rest of bikrami calendar being discarded?

Purewal was a fctory worker all his life in Canada. I am a little surprised how can he design calenders.

His calender was based on solar sysytem. But all amawas and sangrad are based on lunar phases.

Obviously lunar calender is more suitable than gregorian calender for our system.
