I agree it looks disrespectful as we hold these items in the highest regard.. but to be honest we have people selling kara's on stalls to pakis.. Khanda tshirts and flags all over the place.

We have a mock Baata and Khanda outside a Gurdwara where it collects rain water and bird crap.. how can you police all this?

I think we must start with Gurbani, and respect for Dhan Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaaj as a priority.

Many book shops still sell Gurbani in a disrespectful manner.. Beadbi of Maharaaj is still common.. we must fight this

VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

I don't think a non-Sikh buyer is going to be able to do an Amrit Sanchar with it. Also, while the Khanda/Batta can be used in an Amrit Sanchar, its use in the confines of that Divine ceremony is what makes it sanctified. A batta or a Khanda by itself does not have the same Divinity. They are the Divine tools used in a very Divine ceremony, but so is water and patasae made of sugar- we cannot control who possesses these tools much as we cannot control those who use water and patasae for other uses.

As for the throw pillow and tote bag - that's just ridiculous. Bhai Sahib (title bestowed to him by the Akal Takht Sahib) Randhir Singh was in firm opposition to his imagery being used in any fashion. There is a story of a Sikh who made calendars with his image in them. Bhai Sahib told the Gursikh to burn all of the calendars and to only focus on Gurbani.

You do realise that you can go to a fair few shop's in the Punjab and probably here in the UK and buy a Baata and Khanda, as already mentioned, you cannot police this kind of thing, there are more important things to get on with, starting with making sure that you yourself follow the word of the Guru.
