Dozens of files were pulled from the National Archives amid fears they detail British involvement in the Indian Army's attack on Amritsar in 1984.

Papers were released from Whitehall to the National Archives this summer but recalled abruptly after the Sikh Federation wrote to Boris Johnson to tell him they had found 'delicate information' relating to 'UK military assistance to India'.

A note, seen by the MailOnline, found by a researcher reportedly referred to the possibility of SAS involvement after 'an Indian request for military assistance in the setting up of a National Guard for internal security duties'.

The note was written by a civil servant in the Foreign Office's South Asia department in July, 1984, and was copied to Ministry of Defence official and the high commissioner in Delhi.

Hundreds of people were killed on June 6, 1984 when Indian troops stormed the Golden Temple at Amritsar, which was being held by a Sikh group.

The three-day siege saw the Indian Army storm the Golden Temple to flush out the group and arrest Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale a Sikh leader and his followers.

As a result, Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards following the bloodbath.

Nearly 3,000 people were subsequently killed in retaliatory riots against the Sikhs.

In 2014, it was revealed that Britain may have had a role in Operation Blue Star, which sent shockwaves through India and the Sikh community.

A review called for by David Cameron was criticised as having too narrow a scope, and concluded that the UK provided expert military advice after an urgent request from the Indian Intelligence Co-Coordinator.

After the discovery of the 'delicate information' in the archives, human rights lawyers have written to the Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on behalf of the Sikh Federation asking for another review.

The call comes shortly before Prime Minister Theresa May's diplomatic visit to India next week.

A statement released on the Sikh Federation's Twitter said: 'On the eve of her critical trade visit to India, she [Mrs May] is being pressured to come clean about the role played by the SAS in the Sikh genocide in the 1980s.

'There is increasing evidence that Margaret Thatcher's administration worked more closely with the Indian government than was known at the time.

'Vital new documents have been removed from the National Archives.

'There should be a full, independent investigation into these matters.'

A government spokesman for the Foreign Office said: 'The FCO borrowed some of their files from 1984 that were released to the National Archives so they could read the content following concerns raised by the Sikh Federation. They will return all the files in full shortly.

'The issue of SAS advice prior to Operation Blue Star was dealt with in the 2014 report by the Cabinet Secretary. These files contain nothing about this incident.'

The documents will be whitewashed just like the original enquiry any incriminating evidence will be removed and if the documents are returned they will be the irrelevant documents.

Personally I think Sikh Federation have dropped the ball on this issue. So Sikh federation found a note suggesting the  SAS may have had further involvement in operation blue star. Why did they write to Boris Johnson to make him aware ? This resulted in all the new documents that were released under the 30 year rule to be recalled , any evidence they might have contained will now be lost.

Surely Sikh Federation should have kept quiet and investigated all of the newly released documents and gathered all the relevant evidence , and then once they had proof contacted Boris Johnson and requested an independent enquiry.

This is now a missed opportunity and a crucial mistake.

I think thats true, the Sikh federation and the british Sikh council have seemed to drop the ball big time. They been dithering for 2years since the .revelation came out without applying or getting proper political pressure in order to get these important documents released to the public as they should be as they are of deep public interest and concern to the british and worldwide community. The sikh federation lot have taken the lead even though they have been more into get their banned unbanned which was successful.

The Sikh council have been very dissappointing they seem to have down absolutely jack all and are either in the pay of the british or indian establishment or both. And need to have a clear out of those lazy aloo's sitting there doing nothing for the angry kaum. If they need salarys then fine lets all chip in and pay a salary that way they can be held accountable like a proper job rather them making excuses that they are doing volunteer work we dont want volunteer aloo's we need full time professional people working on this important issue with international lawyers, the UN, the ICC and human rights organisationas.

I think all this stuff is a waste of time and a dead end myself. We've already got a reputation as political muppets in England. They've been manipulating  fobbing us off for centuries, I don't think they'd ever take us seriously now.

Sikhs have been fobbed off for centuries and the underdogs ruled a powerful empire that competed with the likes of the european powers of the time. Sikhs are lions led by sheep and donkeys at the moment. Our best leaders were militarily strong and wise, once we lost our government, we lost our land, we lost our army, we lost all the powers of the state and we became helpless. Again we will rise thats why these anti-sikh dogs try to keep us down becaus they know how powerful our faith is and our people are as a nation. We can change the course of wars (2 world wars with 100,000 turbanned sikh soldiers laying down their lives in europe and asia) and of political landscapes (indira gandhi leader of india got taken out by 2 brave Sikh lions), it was the determination, bravery and suicide squad of Sikh soldiers  that won all 3 wars against pakistani army even the pakistani general admitted it.

So Sikhs are a force that once united scares the living daylights of those who want to oppose us. They know how strong our people and what we have achieved in a short period of history and after numerous genocides we are still strong waheguru willing will be stronger in the future.

    • I saw the video on TikTok I think. It was at Wembley Stadium and I was unable to bookmark/favourite it because Tiktok decided to refresh. It was the "mainstream" Chaupai Sahib you will hear at a Singh Sabha gurdwaras, usually so-called Ramgarhia gurdwaras and also for the past 100 year or so in Harimandir Sahib under the current committee system.  In other words, the sikhs who give up or quit at Lord of the Almighty Sword, provides a shield for my protection. With Your Hands you have saved me. You bestow help on me at all places and rescue me from pain and the designs of my demons.401. Kharag kait mai sarann tihaaree. Aap haath dai leho ubaaree. Sarab thor mo hoho sahaaee. Dustt dokh té leho bachaaee. (25) O The Lord of Sword, I seek Your protection. With Your Hands you have guarded me. At All Times be my Support. Save me from wickedness and pain. (25).
    • Bro, can you post from what line to what line they did paath of?
    • A decade later and I can show you all what the problem is. Both Khalsa Primary School and students from Pioneer Secondary Academy were invited for Vaisakhi celebrations, and they done a Chaupai Sahib paat. The problem is, they performed the politics ridden anti-dasam Bhasauria mutilated cut version of Benti Chaupai which is disrespectful to traditional puraatan samrpadaiye and mahapurakh. If bani politics is going to be used on children to skip lines from Dasam Pita ji dhan dhan Guru Gobind Singh ji's Benti Chaupai Sahib, that certain groups think it is ok to do, then @serious guptwas right to raise concerns a decade ago! IN 2024, when sangat is much more knowledgable about dasam bani and katha, when we have so many resources - then if we are not allowing our children to learn bani shud and let them choose their groups to follow later, then this raises RED FLAGS IN 2024!!!! AKAAAAL!
