Hello, I wanted to know does Ardas have to be done standing-up and if Guru Sahib isn't physically present where we are doing ardas, do we have to Mehta Teekh somewhere?

Found this good article clearing up many misconceptions. sikhanswers.com http://www.sikhanswe...-view-on-aarti/ From Sanskrit Aarti, meaning the light or the vessel containing it which is waved before an idol, generally in the clockwise direction, accompanied by the chanting of mantras. This is also the name given the ceremony, which for the Hindus is a mode of ritual worship to propitiate the deity. In the Sikh system, which totally rejects image-worship, there is no permission for this form of worship. Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Jagannath Puri Mandir.According to the Janam Sakhis, Guru Nanak Dev Ji accompanied by Bhai Mardana Ji, stopped near the temple of Jaga…

Anyone read this ? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tartan-Turban-John-Keay/dp/1911271113/ref=sr_1_49?keywords=american+sikh&qid=1637582514&s=books&sr=1-49 Imagine spending thirteen years fighting and travelling in disguise in the deserts of Inner Asia, then another thirteen years as an officer in the Sikh army. Suppose, too, that while 'long separated from the world' you had acquired a reputation for conduct utterly unacceptable in civilised society. Many would reckon you a scoundrel and liar, despite your protests. Lively reminiscences - such as saving the city of Lahore in 1841 by singlehandedly killing 300 invaders - and numerous scars would …

They were now convinced of the great spiritual powers of Baba Ji and startded paying homage to Baba Ji in order to get their wishes fulfilled together with peace and happiness for their families. THE CHILD AYA SINGH COMES TO THE DERA Once the Sangat from Peshawar came to pay their respects to Baba Ji together with the child Aya Singh. They requested that Baba Ji kept the child Aya Singh at the Dera.To which ,Baba Ji agreed and replied, "He will succeed m…

I want to start a thread about 84 and the movement afterwards so anyone can come here and learn about it more. There isn't enough about it in one place so hopefully with guru sahib's grace this thread will serve to become a useful resource to learn about 84 .It's up to us the sangat to contribute and keep this thread going. It is all our responsibility to honour our shaheeds and to remember them and to keep their legacy ever new and alive to inspire our future generations. No one else can be blamed if our new generations aren't aware of their own heritage. It is all our fault for never teaching them and giving them resources to learn about it themselves. To kick i…

I was watching a lecture by Dr. Kamalroop Singh Ji Nihang and noticed something interesting. He mentions that the British attacked Sri Akal Takht during their raj. This was at the 9:20 mark. He mentions this as being Mazhabi ithaas as it was these Sikhs who became shaheed. If anyone has information on this event please post.
