  1. Baba Ram Singh ji never considered himself as Guru of the Naamdharis or a Guru at all. He always considered himself a Sikh of Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj. The followers later made Baba Ram Singh ji as their Guru after he left this world. Baba Ram Singh ji was Amritdhari.

  6. Protests can take many different forms. Silent protests are uncommon but have been successful in the past with other communities. The public will be informed through flyers, placards and assigned spokes-men. As it is probable that Amitabh will not be attending, there is no need to be shouting slogans. We are using this opportunity to get a message across... not many people know about the 1984 November Genocide, and even fewer know about the extent of the massacre and government involvement. We are using this as an opportunity to educate. We cannot educate if sangat are shouting slogans. As Amitabh's fans, family and media will be present, as well as national and international press this is an excellent opportunity to highlight Amitabh’s alleged role in the unknown 1984 November Genocide where voting lists were used to identify Sikh homes which were then marked in red. Sikhs of all ages across India were hacked to pieces, burnt alive, raped and killed. Sikh owned homes and business were burnt to the ground and those that were expected to protect the Sikhs either turned a blind eye or were actively involved. The only TV (Doordarshan) and Radio (All India Radio) stations were government owned and did not report the killings of Sikhs that was taking place across India. Rather the opposite, they spread rumours that Sikhs were killing Hindus - which were all unfounded. After the genocide, there was a strong awareness that killings had taken place across India, so the government decided to dub these events as "Delhi Riots". This term was a deliberate attempt to play down the face that this was in fact a planned Genocide. The killings were not just limited to just Delhi, and a Riot is a conflict that takes place between two communities... It was only Gurdwaras that were razed to the ground... no mandir, church, or masjid was touched by the so called "rioters". This was a pre planned genocide to wipe out the Sikhs in India. This is why the term “Delhi Riots” should not be used. The Nanavati commission recognises that voting lists were used to identify Sikh homes. Several eye witnesses have made claims that Amitabh Bachchan (a close friend of Rajiv Ghandi) was the first to incite the killings of Sikhs. Despite this, the Delhi High Courts refuse to take any action.

  8. Sikhs have always fought injustice and the treatment of minorities from 1947 - present only shows that sikh grievances against the indian government are justified. If I was the pm and as per your scenario if a hindu had killed a sikh leader and there was chances of backlash against hindus then I would have sent the army to protect them. If the whole issue was personal as was the case with rajiv gandhi then I would have sorted out the perpertraters my self. What the government did and has done since shows that sikhs are expendble. Take USA for example, thousands of their citizens died due to terrorist on 911, how many american muslims ded in the backlashes? That my friend is a true democracy.

  9. From what I gather and correct me if i'm wrong OP, but the topic is about Sikh youngsters adopting the 'way of black people' - most of which doesn't seem to be too good. I think of it as, what kind of image are the youth who choose to dress/speak/live like this representing to the rest of the world after all this is why we have a dastaar/5 kakkars etc so that we are recognisable to those around us as Sikhs. If we tarnish this image by mixing our dastaar (or sometimes worse...a doorag) up with jeans hanging down our butts and a balaclava round our necks, what kind of message is this sending out about us? It seems even young white people act like this and to me, it demonstrates how they want to be like their black 'gangsta' counterparts, I wonder if thats the same for the Sikh youth who dress similarly? It's not about being pompous and uppity its about not looking like you want to be someone else!!

  15. I don't know anything veer, most of the stuff i managed to gather by maharaj kirpa from mahapursh katha, vichar, books etc etc. There are quite bit of diversity in ways of meditating on Gurmantar/Mool Mantar within Sikh school of thoughts (sampardavas). One such technique - Ajapa Jap which is common and you will find tracing its path to all the way back to sri guru gobind singh ji time when sri guru gobind singh ji gave updesh to mata ajeeto ji to do Ajapa Jap in order to leave the body: 1. Baikri Bani- Recite Gurmantar with javan(tongue), hout(lips), khaieyal(thoughts) that is called Baikari Bani. 2. Madhma Bani- Recite Gurmantar in Kant(throat) without moving lips...just with the thoughts is called Madhma Bani. 3. Pasanti Bani- Recite Gurmantar in hirda(heart). 4. Para Bani- Recite Gurmantar in Nabhi(Navel) without moving tongue and with the thoughts. In this stage vahiguroo Gurmantar gets infused in rom rom of the body. Meditation goes in automatic mode. There is no need for concentration. After 4th stage, everything is spontaneous, trikurti and dasam dwar will open spontaneously no effort is needed on concentrating on 3rd eye or anything, one gets to very high stage where one can hear(jap-resonance,dhuni) with their surati from everything in this creation ie- walls, birds, leafs, animals, human being, even from realms and see everything. Ajpa jap na visrai aad jugad samae || It does not forget the Chant which is chanted without chanting; it is immersed in the Primal Lord God of the ages.

  18. Just my two cents on this. Some people justify women not being able to do kirtan in Darbar Sahib due to the amount of sangat that comes to do darshan of Guru Sahib and the bibi may be subjected to lustful thoughts. However, thinking of Mai Bhago, she fought against Mughal Soldiers. Being a woman she held a sword/gun and fought against MEN. There weren't Muslim women fighting against her she was fighting against Muslim men. How come no one in those times complained and said, "Oh we shouldnt allow Mai Bhago to fight because she might be subjected to lustful thoughts yada yada?" Because Mai Bhago was a Singhnee and no one can dare look at a Singhnee with wrongful thoughts. Guru Gobind Singh Jee didnt think of veiling our women like the Muslims do. Muslim's veil their women because they do not want anyone looking at them with lustful eyes. However, Guru Sahib banned this practice for us. Why? Because if a man looks at a woman with lustful thoughts, he is harming his jeevan not hers. Then why confine women behind this "veil" of do's and dont's? I think the reason why we dont see a lot of women playing more roles at the Guru Ghar's is because of the Punjabi Mentality. As good things that may be attributed to Punjabi Culture, there are a lot of bad ones also. This is Punjabi Mentality to not let women do this and that etc etc. A woman's period should not be a reason for her to not do seva. I have heard this mentality before also. That women can't do akhand path this and that if she is on her period. That is again muslim mentality where women are not allowed to pray or fast during their period. God created this system of menstruation. Therefore, why can a woman not sing God's praises, do path from Guru Granth Sahib Ji while she is on her period? In Sikhi our goal is to jap naam with every breath we have. That doesnt mean we cant jap naam during our period etc etc... In fact we are to jap naam 24/7. If that is our Goal in Sikhi then why not allow women to sing God's praises during their menstruation? By the way I know no one on this thread mentioned this being the reason why women aren't allowed to do certain things but it is a mentality that I have heard several times before therefore I decided to address it. I am a manmukh I dont have gian therefore if I have said anything to hurt anyone I ask for forgiveness from the sangat in advance. Bhul Chuk Maaf.

  19. i believe you get affected cuz u care. all u gota do is increase ur shield, i.e. ur bani, so that things around dont affect you that u dont want them to.. normally it takes 40 days for somthing to get into your life, so try a lifestyle change / more bani / a specific bani for this amount of time. do not go to park, i.e. do not run away from ur problems, call ur problems, 'ploblemz' in ur mind! thas what i do! its soo funny, the more u cay this word, the funnier it is! ask urself, 'whas ma ploblem!' n say it a few times to urself. it workes with me. the fact that u are more open to the world, and are able to search the world around you using ur feelings, is more of an indication that u are special than anything.!... i know people that are like you, and get affected more than other ppl, but its not a ghatta. its nt a bad thing. botom line is, it is hard to control, and at a yongue age, u have these problems. but as u get older, with the help of bani as a catalyst, u will control it, and excell amazingly. research "emotional empathy", and "emotional empath". spiritually, it is possible to get to a stage wher u can control the feelings of other people. to beauty.. most people dont realise that they have benn given this gift.. (along with the 5 senses, we get given gifts from god in this body). most people dont realise that they have this ability... sikhi is all about connecting with the world around you.. as god is everywhere and we must connect with him... you have this given to you on a plate. so dont think ur at a disadvantage. tbh, iv helped ppl with this! i.e. pointed in the direction that needs to be piointed. and, tbh, again, this is what im telling u to do.. bani... feel the bani. ur empathy has good potential. do not close up. jus learn how to control it u x man! (or woman) .. : / and, lemi jus say, once ur controled it, the world seems brighter, you think more strait, and affect the lifes of people to help them in their life, (provided u know what feeling to show them, and what to say).. but all this comes after.. summin to look fwd to.. i cal this, an indication of introductory low-level rid sid but this dont mean u will get rid sid, cuz, sum ppl dont need it all as per the seva that u get given from god in ur life as a part of ur destiny. if u dont undestand anything iv sed, ask, but its not too much of a problem if u dont get bits of what iv sed, cuz all u needto do is, bani, and learn to protect this gift uv been given. sure ull get angry from time to time, but u will learn to control it over time. this much im sure of. fathem
