  4. Lol...Mann is a jatt surname. You're using a caste name, then talking about how we need to get rid of caste. Give me a break. You're probably not even Sikh. What's with all the trolls on this forum recently?

  5. Your entire rant against Jatts is just pure funny, not because they are totally wrong but it shows your inferiority complex issues. Even you went against sant jarnail Singh Ji because of his last name. Desperate times for you brother. I can refute all of your points but its just not worth it. I betcha you are not even maan, I mean comeon who put sahib in front of his goath. If you want serious debate then at least try to be honest.

  6. Mann-sahib, I blame you. What's the point of this post? To make us fight each other? All groups play a role in casteism. Plenty of non-Jatts still use their caste names. If they don't want to be treated differently, then why not drop the surname and use Singh/Kaur? This goes for Jatts too. What about Gurdwaras named Ramgharia gurdwara, or Lubana gurdwara, etc. They are all run by caste-affiliated committees. I know of areas that have 3 gurdwaras, walking distance from each other, for different castes. I've never seen a Gurdwara called Jatt Gurdwara. Punjab was historically the most fertile land in the subcontinent. Economically, the people who owned the land were bound to benefit. Yes, politics in Punjab is still dominated by Jatts. I hope this will change.

  14. So is nidar a recognised leader/representative of Buddah dal in the uk?? My experiences for the time I attended his classes we're pretty bad, but I initially put that down to my lack of knowledge! I was not in the greatest of places when I started attending, however Gursikhi was always my beacon of light. I saw what was going on there and the general mindset of glastonbury singhs, displaying g@nja leaves on their facebook pages and going to dub dances to smoke weed and 'meditate' as some next dimension that I just wasn't aware of! I openly saw "singhs" cus other singhs, and talk about shaheeds from the 1940's to present day as some sort of terrorists, something I could stomach. I also found the name change thing totally bizarre, but thought hey what do I know it must be an evolution of some kind? I once had a snathanist approach me and profess that i'm a singh of nidar, to which I replied I am a Singh of Guru Granth Sahib, a look of homer simpson followed. I have openly seen singhs attend mandir on Diwali because they profess that the Singh Sabha Gurdwara's are corrupt! (their own words). I thought the whole point of going to Gurdwara was to be "in the TRUE masters presence", if you disagree with the corruption either do something about it or at the very least don't put any money in the 'maya box' I personally beleive the mass rounding up and killing of "Gursikhs" in the 80's & 90's and the burning down of places like the Sikh reference library was the start of the etempt to eradicate Sikhi and "merge it back in to the bigger hindutva dharam". The next step (the emergance of the nidars, ram rahim's, darshan ragis of this world) is to replace what was the truth back then with the new falsehood that is upon us today. Is Nidar a rss cronie? who knows & who really cares? Not me! But I say this, I stand firmly shoulder to shoulder with Bhai sahib Taran Singh and his mission to shine the light on the dark filth that nidar and co are spewing to our young and impressionable sikhs.

  17. Mumbai, October 03, 2012 Upon his arrival in India, Lt. Gen K.S. Brar confessed to having cooked up his attack story. "I had lost all my money in gambling at the casino right across the hotel where I was staying. My wife was furious at me and threw whatever she got her hands on, which resulted in the injuries you are seeing". According to reports, it was Mrs. Brar's idea to cause a hype by blaming the injuries on so-called "Khalistani extremists". "We had no other way", said a sobbing Meena Brar. "We didn't have a single penny to even buy a ticket back home, so we had to do this to get a free air passage back home". Investigations are on regarding which utensil was used to thrash the retired officer. Inspector Betaal Margaye, the investigating officer from Mumbai police was particularly enraged. "It is a matter of severe shame for the entire country that a decorated soldier of Gen. Brar's caliber is addicted to gambling and wasting government funds for his own pleasure". Margaye also said that Brar would be fined Rs. 100/- for causing public outcry without legible cause. His wife would be fined Rs. 35/- for spousal abuse. Just kidding guys, chill out! :D

  19. As someone who has a lot of friends that go to Niddar Singh one thing is evident! Those that have learnt from in the past couple of years have all started eating meat (Burger King, McDonalds etc)... at first I thought who am I to judge? Im not exactly knowledgeable about Sikhi... then a few started drinking alcohol... I thought ok thats bad... but they justified it as Nihang maryada... I was like okeyyy Now a few although a small amount are hooked on Marijuana and other substances. It has been difficult watching friends and people I was very close too change! They now mock me and other members of the Sangat as Vashnu Sikhs or Basuria (sp?) havent a clue what these terms mean in detail :blush2: But I was like okey whatever. Now I'm not denying whether ShasterVidya is any good... it seems really good and nifty and his students always impress in Nagar Kirtans BUT they have had a personality change... swear for fun, eat meat openly, some drink alcohol and a few are what I can only describe as druggies! Now that is fact and reality whether people are willing to admit it or not!

  20. i dont have experiences. but i no of some. so i can share. the last thing you should do before you sleep is simran. and fall asleep doing simran. then the first thing u should do wen u wake up is simran too. then, it will be as if you have dont simran the entire night. and we all know how hard it would be to do that many hours simran. (eventually, as u increase in the simran levels, avastha, you will after a few years of this type of simran, need no sleep. but this is rare to come accross a person that does this kind of simran. simran takes a new meaning and shape as u increase.. in avastha..... it is reletivey easy to get to this level. simran is too massive. o so massive. you can quicky learn to control the way in which simran takes shape. and manifests. this is how u get simple rid sid involving seemingly high level things. such as future, and control over people. this is the test naam simran gives you via its duty under hukam of god. this is also things that will hold you back. which is the basic reason why control and focus is needed. this can happen duringthe day walking around when you dont expect it. its not just during naam simran. as most think. if you can manage (its hard to get into this dicipline) to automtically start ur naam simrn the first thing in the morning when you are stil 70% or so dazed, then you can fast track your dasam dwaar opeing. (which is btw, the first step of the journey. after all, you have to get our of your house to make the journey). so naam simran before anything, is very importent. and personally, i believe that this is how it is. then you do your 5 bania, which have the function of starting your jup, then to get the motor going, i.e. the jaaaap, then after your jaap is going, viraag comes via the sraavag sudh savayae, then once your virag is there, you do the true benti which no one can reely tell you. the benti chaupi till 'chaupi ko kehe' has the functionof asisting us to get this one true benti out of us. then when god himself listens to that benti, you will be in anand. this is function of the 5 bania. (amongst other functions). simple thing, if u wana feel the pwer of naam simran, do 1 extra japji sahib a day, if u wana open your dasam dwaar, all u have to do 10 xtra jupji sahibs a day. just after a month and a week, if done with true reverence, your dwaar will open. needlss to say distractions from mind and body and heart, must be absent. even in the nidst of these distractions. (i regrettably give the metaphore, walk into a bro thel and feel no lust or dissgust. then you know you are truely above these things. i am not saying do this, just saying, it should be at this level.) so.. naam simran before 5 bania, then 5 bania, then naam simran afterwards too. (possibly to stabalise your change in avastha during your nitnem). id sugggest mool mantar (nanak hosi pi such) to fuel your gurmantar. so, 1 mool amntar should last you 'so many' minutes, or tens of minutes. i do wish you well on your journey, but will stress, naam is gods. not ours. hence we cnnot have any kamaaee. also, we cannot keep it anyway, so this all boils down to, tek the naam guru lets you jup, and give it back to guru G seeing as we will eventually loose it. its not ours to begin with.. rub da naam hai. sada nehi dhan guru

  21. Mr Mann your inferior complex is evident for everyone to see. As for your comments regarding sant ji it is obvious you have not listened to any of his speeches, if u can direct me to one speech where he makes demands or plans towards 'Khalistan' please show me! He was standing up for dharam and the rights of the people of Punjab regardless of caste and even religion. So do us all a favour & take your weak pathetic self somewhere else. Probabaly got bullied by jatts at school

  22. bhasuria - a term for a follower of babu teja singh bhasaur, who was thrown out of the Khalsa Panth. Vaishnu - vegetarians, also can be followers of Sri Vishnu. Niddar SIngh isnt recognised as rep of Buddha Dal in Uk anymore, i think he was at one time. smoking weed is deffo no-no for sikhs, a sikh would never smoke at all, and this is just crazy. If someone needs marijuana it has to be in line with the tradition started by the Gurus.

  23. i think beards look great! i can't wait for mine to grow fully. anyway your decision is your own. whats the point of keeping your hair if you aren't going to uphold sikhi values. what is it to anyone of whether you look "modern"? define modern to me? the hair keeps growing, keeps comming back. why not keep it there? be proud of your mane. i fit in fine with my appearence, i can start conversations, people sometimes ask me things. i am different and i'm happy. i've had my share of people putting me down, but these insults cause me to hold my head higher every day. whats the point of keeping a pagh on your head but no beard? its pointless. all hair is meant to be kept. and anyway, maybe you are left out because you can't talk to people, be more confident. i have never had trouble feeling left out. but brother, your decision is your own. think carefully about what you do.

  32. I am a non amritdhari, and have done my fair share of fashion and tried to fit in with modern world and believe me there is no modern world. You are young and are influenced by media. I hate Wats in fashion nowadays, and to be honest think guys with beards and turbans look better. They seem to have a sense of pride in their presentation, whereas guys that shave look bare and empty of morals and kind of lost. The modern look to me seems to be turbans and beards, its being proud of it makes one look cool.
    1 point
  33. You don't become more modern or even look more modern by merely cutting your beard. It's about self confidence and how you carry yourself. No one hires someone if they "look modern". They look at whether this individual's education and skill set is up to standard. Don't make any rash decisions just for some girls. Girls aren't worth it, just wait until you're married. You'll realize it wasn't worth the self hurt in the end when it's a bit too late. (When I say this, I mean the same for girls in your position, guys are definitely not worth it either at the cost of your Sikhi). If you ever need someone to talk to, sangat is here for you. As an ex-mona I can tell you I'm more confident with who I am and am more empowered as being a Sikh with a unique identity. Many people respect it and find it cool. In the mean time, have a listen my brother. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ELORiWzZXs& http://www.searchsikhism.com/taru.html There's a very spiritual reason for keeping our kesh, but kesh alone without rehit and understanding them and without the piyaas/pyaar to meet Waheguru is useless as without Path and Simran a Sikh is like they are already dead.

  34. Just in case people have not heard of this Gurdwara Sahib Ji yet: Gurdwara Jhulna Mahal Sahib is an architectural wonder located on the Amritsar-Tarn Taran road about six km from Tarn Taran. Locals claim that when Emperor Jehangir was passing through the nearby road with bedecked elephants swaying, the curious Sikh gathering went up to the road to see the royal procession. It is said that Guru Arjun Dev blessed the magnificent place to “swing like an elephant”. Even today visitors are mesmerised by the sight of the Sikh priest who concludes the prayers and shakes the wall. I went there before. As soon as the Granthi Ji concludes Ardaas, the arch shakes as your sitting on it, and not a slight shake. It's very noticeable. A miracle of the Guru. (Also, to our new member, 'curioustoknow', you asked before about how we know that our Guru Ji is no different than God, or something along those lines. Well, forgive me for sounding supremacist, but things like this help us solidify our faith in that http://www.indiamike...e-feel-t171489/ http://www.istahotel...tion-guide.aspx

  35. Yep, that is true. British citizen Sikhs need to prove they're more worth the while and they've got the voice to back it up. There's a grave need of investigative journalism that gets publicized to be done.

Except when it comes to British manipulation...then we are the 'The docile following sheep' - but that's a different story. I don't know if this person is genuine or not, and I'm real sorry if they are - but let the rest of us notice the negative effects of having Muslim men come here masquerading as x, y or z in the past.....such a shame....and you'd think that those guys would have better things to do with their time..... hee hee

  37. That actually made my day - as in put a smile on my face. hee hee Singh559 - This incident is so pathetic, Scotland Yard would and other Brit Intel agencies would probably sweep it under the mat as an embarrassing diplomatic goof. I mean firstly, they don't to give the impression that London is some dangerous town, then opening up this can worms wouldn't benefit them, I presume they have an eye on the longer game/bigger prize - Indian markets.

  38. Even if no one cares we need to make sure we shut this case by Sidon the Scotland yard to din out what happened and show how India is again trying to interfere in Britain politics. Maybe the Britain intel agencies already kbow this is a deliberate event and this shut It up. Britain protects its own law abiding citizens from foreign criminal agencies.

They're trying to provoke a reaction to show Sikhs condone behaviour like this which is undeniably gonna get us a lot of negative press in the west. 46. Anyone read the book yet? What's the context of the use of the Sikh family? It seems Rowling has tried to do a good thing but some of our people simply haven't a clue. They probably want the Sikh family in the book to ride around on horses, shouting jakaare and save the day, and then have everyone else in the book convert to Sikhi and live happily ever after. Decent literature is complex, it isn't easy or comfortable at the best of times. Characters need to challenge the reader; sometimes they have to be written in a way which best conveys the intention of the author to make an argument which supports their themes, plot, etc. It doesn't mean every single person in the real world who shares the religion or background of such a character is the same. Rowling talks about the positives of the Sikh faith in terms of gender equality, etc.; God forbid she encounters certain sections of this website. A few hours reading about how some modern-day practitioners of Sikhi differ from the untouchable, pure theory it is SUPPOSED to represent I reckon she'd regret including anything Sikh-related in her book. Again, we seem to be going the way of the stereotypical, irate mullah whenever something like this crops up. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks even the Akal Takhat jathedars are leant upon to make statements on such trivial issues to give Sikhs a bad name in the western world. Yet whenever occurs something which gravely affects the core of Sikhi and Sikh sentiments then it takes them days to utter a word.

  47. Now we are getting somewhere. We need to use this ample opportunity to capitalize on this women interest in Sikhism..3ho sikh women need to include her in the activities highlighting equality in Sikhism i.e 3ho women panj pyares, seva of sri guru granth sahib ji - sukhshan or parkash, reading gurbani etc ..i m not saying convert her but to bring awareness of sikh traditions and great sikh philosophy and then starting throwing some small doses of human rights abuse happening against sikhs in India. What good way to address human right abuses against sikhs in India through an celebrity/famous author like tibet buddhist have done via Richard Gere. If i was jathedar of some sort, I would be on my feet running around and capitalizing on this moment

  48. We need to spread our faith more. Westerners who come into contact with Sikhi adore it. It is selfish for us to keep the Guru's teachings to ourselves. Introducing people to our faith isn't forcing them to convert. Others can take things from gurbani and apply it to their lives, even if they don't choose to fully become Sikhs. The ironic thing is, I think this book (written by a non-Sikh) will do more parchaar of our faith than any Sikh institution has done thus far. Just imagine all the J.K. Rowling fans around the world, that will be reading about a Sikh family.
