  1. #1 in this series for Learning Gurmukhi / Punjabi Alphabet. We look at the benefits of learning to read, pronounce and understand the Gurmukhi script (paintee) instead of just using translations and transliterations (romanised). This is all part of Stage 3 in our Five Stage Plan of systematic parchar of Sikhi. In the next videos we will be looking at how words are made in Gurmukhi and how to write and pronounce each letter and vowel. More @http://www.everythings13.org/our-5-po...

  5. May 17, 1746 Date of Chotta Ghallughara Imagine Without Food, Ammunition, Supplies, in the Jungles for Months being Chased By Mughal Army. Thousands of Sikhs Rounded Up in Lahore, They Could Have Survived had they Converted, They Rather Chose to be Martyred. These are the Supreme Sacrifices Sikhs Made. After Each Holocaust Sikhs Have Come Back Stronger Then Ever. Below is an Article on Chotta Ghallughara by Gurmat Study Team Early in 1746, when Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluvalia pushed northwards and entered the Eminabad territory in Gujranwala district, they were attacked by the local jagirdar, Jaspat Rai, the diwan of Yahiya Khan, the governor of Lahore. Jaspat Rai was killed in the encounter. This led to the vengeful Lakhpat Rai's (Jaspat Rai's brother) relentless campaign against the Sikhs. Lakhpat Rai was a minister of Yahiya Khan, governor of Lahore. When he heard the news of his brother's death, he became mad with rage. He went on to Yahiya Khan. He flung his turban at his feet and said, 'I shall tie it on my head only when I have destroyed the Sikhs, root and branch' He had a general order issued for the destruction of the Sikhs. To begin with, all the Sikhs- men, women, and children- living in Lahore were arrested. They were handed over to sweepers for execution. A deputation of Hindus waited upon Lakhpat Rai. They tried to dissuade him from spilling innocent blood. But he would not listen to them. The terrible order was carried out. All the Sikhs of Lahore were murdered in cold blood. Their only fault was that they were Sikhs. They died for their faith. They became martyrs, all of those men, women and children. None of them agreed to save his or her life by giving up his faith. It was announced with the beat of drum that no one should read the Sikhs scriptures. It was further ordered that anyone uttering the name of the Gurus would be arrested and killed. A huge army, under the command of Yahiya Khan and Lakhpat Rai, set out to destroy Sikhs. This army consisted of the Mughal army and thousands of soldiers sent by the Hindu and Muhammadan supporters of the Mughal government. About fifteen thousands Sikhs had taken shelter in the reedy marshes of Khanuwan. The heavily clothed troops and their artillery could not pass through the marshes to reach the Sikhs. But a way was cut through the reeds for the movement of the troops. With the help of guns, the Sikhs were pushed towards the Ravi. The Sikhs crossed the river. They were closely followed by Lakhpat Rai. The only course open to the Sikhs was to go to the hills of Basohli. They hoped that the Hindu population there would give them shelter. But their hopes proved false. The people there had already received orders from Lahore to give no shelter to the Sikhs. As the Sikhs approached, they were received with showers of stones and bullets. They had to cry a halt. They were in desperate position. In front of them was a steep mountain. On that mountain were people who were against them and were showering bullets and stones on them. To their right was a fast flowing, flooded river. Behind them was the enemy in hot pursuit. They had no food and no ammunition. Their horses were weak with hunger and fatigue. They were too weak to go up the mountain. They decided to go back to Majha. But the Ravi was in flood. It was impossible to cross it. It was decided, therefore, that those who had no horses, should go towards the mountains and try their luck there. Those who had horses were to cut their way through the enemy. Those who went to the mountains managed to pass about six months in Mandi and Kulu. They had to face great hardships. But they were able, at least, to reach Kirtarpur and join the Khalsa there. The main body of the Sikhs rushed through the pursuing army. They were surrounded. Hundreds of them were killed. Some were taken prisoner. The remaining Sikhs were pursued into a jungle. There they were attacked by the army as well as the people-Hindus and Muslims-collected from the neighboring villages. About two thousand Sikhs were able to cross the Ravi. They entered the Riarki tract of Gurdaspur. It was the month of June. They were hungry, barefooted, and wounded. The burning sand added to their sufferings. But they uttered no cry of pain. They never thought of surrender. They never thought of saving themselves by giving up their faith. They were determined to live and die as Sikhs. They tore off pieces from their clothes and tied them on their naked feet. In this way they crossed the hot sandy plain and reached the river Beas. They crossed that river near Sri Hargobindpur. Then they made straight for the Satluj. That river they crossed near Aliwal and entered the Malwa. Lakhpat Rai had got tired of fighting. He returned to Lahore. In this campaign he must have killed at least 10,000 Sikhs. It was called Chhota Ghalughara or the Lesser Holocaust. Over ten thousand Sikhs were brutally killed in this campaign. They could all have saved their lives by giving up their faith and accepting Islam. But none of them even thought of saving his or her life in that way. They chose not to live as apostates, but to suffer and die as Sikhs. They preferred suffering and death to apostates. They lived, suffered and died as true devotees of their faith. They achieved glorious martyrdom. They are all remembered with respect and admiration by students of history, as well as, of course, by all Sikhs. They died to achieve everlasting life. Let us all bow our heads to them. Daily Sikh Updates

  6. Fact is that they are always FULL Sikhs in terms of amritdhari and khakkars. When you look at Punjabis, we have so many monay, women with cut and coloured hair...etc.... you can't even tell who is hindu or not !!! There is nothing wrong with doing yoga, it doesn't make you any more or lesser of a Sikh. I have actually started kundalini yoga myself !! :biggrin2: I know that most of them came into sikhi via yoga, but then again we have white people that come into Punjabi and then sikhi via dance music like bhangra !

  8. That's a very reasonable way of looking at it and it is also my understanding. The shabad can perceived by all of us at different levels, however to understand it at all the levels should be our aim. A beginner and newbie can apply it to their level but they have to be prepared to move on and not to hold the interpretation at that point.

The Granthi admitted to making a mistake and pledged to refrain from carrying out such acts in the future. It should be noted that such graves in Punjab are usually used as moneymaking schemes, at this one in particular religious ceremonies are performed as well as adulterous music shows to attract common villagers.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=125390717662332&set=a.121750911359646.1073741826.121748801359857&type=1&theater

  15. Britain is one of the most racially tolerant countries on the planet, a survey claims. The global social attitudes study claims that the most racially intolerant populations are all in the developing world, with Bangladesh, Jordan and India in the top five. By contrast, the study of 80 countries over three decades found Western countries were most accepting of other cultures with Britain, the U.S., Canada and Australia more tolerant than anywhere else. The data came from the World Value Survey, which measured the social attitudes of people in different countries, as reported by the Washington Post. The survey asked individuals what types of people they would refuse to live next to, and counted how many chose the option 'people of a different race' as a percentage for each country. Researchers have suggested that societies where more people do not want neighbours from other races can be considered less racially tolerant. The country with the highest proportion of 'intolerant' people who wanted neighbours similar to them was Hong Kong, where 71.8 per cent of the population would refuse to live next to someone of a different race. Next were Bangladesh on 71.7 per cent, Jordan on 51.4 per cent and India with 43.5 per cent. Racist views are strikingly rare in the U.S., according to the survey, which claims that only 3.8 per cent of residents are reluctant to have a neighbour of another race. Other English-speaking countries once part of the British Empire shared the same tolerant attitude - fewer than five per cent of Britons, Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders showed signs of racism. People in the UK are also tolerant of other differences such as speaking a foreign language or practising an alternative religion - for example, fewer than two per cent of Britons would object to having neighbours of a different faith to them. Similarly, fewer than one in 20 people in most South American countries admitted harbouring prejudice against other races. The Middle East, which is currently dealing with large numbers of low-skilled immigrants from south Asia, seems to be a hotbed of racial tension, however. Europe is remarkably split - the west of the continent is generally more tolerant than the east, but France is a striking outlier with 22.7 per cent of the French rejecting neighbourhood diversity. Some have pointed out problems in the survey data, claiming that because the polls span a long period of time they are an unreliable guide to current attitudes. However, a more serious flaw could be the fact that in most Western countries racism is so taboo than many people will hide their intolerant views and lie to the questioners. Max Fisher of the Washington Post suggested that maybe 'Americans are conditioned by their education and media to keep these sorts of racial preferences private, i.e. to lie about them on surveys, in a way that Indians might not be'. 16. http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/apr/28/australia-boom-aboriginal-story-despair Australia's boom is anything but for its Aboriginal people The story of the first Australians is still poverty and humiliation, while their land yields the world's biggest resources boom Eleven miles by ferry from Perth is Western Australia's "premier tourist destination". This is Rottnest Island, whose scabrous wild beauty and isolation evoked, for me, Robben Island in South Africa. Empires are never short of devil's islands; what makes Rottnest different – indeed, what makes Australia different – is silence and denial on an epic scale. "Five awesome reasons to visit!" the brochure says. These range from "family fun" to "historical Rottnest". The island is described as "a guiding light, a defender of the peace". In eight pages of prescribed family fun, there is just one word of truth – prison. More than any other colonial society, Australia consigns its dirtiest secrets, past and present, to wilful ignorance or indifference. When I was at school in Sydney, standard texts all but dismissed the most enduring human entity on earth, the indigenous first Australians. "It was quite useless to treat them fairly," the historian Stephen Roberts wrote, "since they were completely amoral and incapable of sincere and prolonged gratitude." His acclaimed colleague Russel Ward was succinct: "We are civilised today and they are not." That Australia has since changed is not disputed. To measure this change, a visit to Western Australia is essential. The vast state – our richest – is home to the world's biggest resources boom: iron ore, gold, nickel, oil, petroleum, gas. Profits are in the multiple billions. When the former Labor prime minister Kevin Rudd tried to impose a modest tax, he was overthrown by his own party following a A$22m (£14.6m) propaganda campaign by the mining companies, whose mates in the media uphold the world's first Murdocracy. "Assisted by Rio Tinto" reads the last line of an unctuous newspaper article on the boom's benefits to black Australians. At airports passengers are greeted by banners with pictures of smiling Aboriginal faces in hard hats, promoting the plunderers of their land. "This is our story," says the slogan. It isn't. Barely a fraction of mining, oil and gas revenue has benefited Aboriginal communities, whose poverty is an enduring shock. In Roebourne, in the mineral-rich Pilbara, 80% of the children suffer from an ear infection called otitis media, which can cause partial deafness. Or they go blind from preventable trachoma. Or they die from Dickensian infections. That is their story. The Nyoongar people have lived around what is now Perth for many thousands of years. Incredibly, they survive. Noel Nannup, a Nyoongar elder, and Marianne McKay, a Nyoongar activist, accompanied me to Rottnest. Nannup's protective presence was important to McKay. Unlike the jolly tourists heading for "Rotto", they spent days "preparing for the pain". "All our families remember what was done," said Noel Nannup. What was done was the starving, torture, humiliation and murder of the first Australians. Wrenched from their communities in an act of genocide that divided and emasculated the indigenous nations, shackled men and boys as young as eight endured the perilous nine-hour journey in an open longboat. Terrified prisoners were jammed into a windowless "holding cell", like an oversized kennel. Today, a historical plaque refers to it as "the Boathouse". The suppression is breathtaking. In the prison known as the Quod as many as 167 Aboriginal prisoners were locked in 28 tiny cells. This lasted well into the 20th century. The prison is now called Rottnest Lodge. It has a spa, and there are double bunks for children: family fun. I booked a room. Noel Nannup stood in the centre of the room and described its echoes of terrible suffering. The window looked out on to where a gallows had stood, where tourists now sunbathed. None had a clue. A "country club" overlooks a mass grave. One psychopath who ran the Quod was Henry Vincent. He liked to whip prisoners and murdered two of them, an inquiry was told. Today, Vincent is venerated as a "pioneer", and tourists are encouraged to follow the "Vincent Way heritage trail". In the Governor's Bar, the annual Henry Vincent golf trophy is displayed. No one there had a clue. Rotto is not the past. On 28 March Richard Harding, formerly inspector of custodial services, declared Western Australia a "state of imprisonment". During the boom Aboriginal incarceration has more than doubled. Interned in rat-infested cells, almost 60% of the state's young prisoners are Aboriginal – out of 2.5% of the population. They include children. A former prisons minister, Margaret Quirk, told me the state was now "racking and stacking" black Australians. Their rate of incarceration is five times that of black people in apartheid South Africa. Black Australians are stereotyped as violent, yet the violence routinely meted out to them by authority is of little interest. An elder known as Mr Ward was arrested for driving under the influence on a bush road. In searing heat, he was driven more than 300 miles in the iron pod of a prison van run by the British security company GSL. Inside, the temperature reached 50C. Mr Ward cooked to death, his stomach burned raw where he had collapsed on the van's scorching floor. The coroner called it a "disgrace", but no one was prosecuted [ see footnote]. No one ever is. Eco-tourism is also booming. The Kimberley region is popular with Europeans. Last year, 40 Aboriginal youngsters killed themselves there, a 100-fold increase. When I first reported on indigenous Australia a generation ago, black suicide was rare. Today, the despair is so profound that the second cause of Aboriginal death is suicide. It is booming. • John Pilger's film on Australia, Utopia, is released in the autumn • This article was amended on 29 April and further amended on 30 April 2013 to clarify that Western Australia's director of public prosecutions did rule out criminal charges on the grounds that there was not "sufficient evidence". However, following a campaign by the family of Mr Ward WorkSafe, the body that oversees health and safety in WA, brought brought a civil action in Kalgoorlie magistrates court, under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984. Graham Powell and Nina Stokoe, G4S guards, were fined A$9,000 and A$11,000 respectively by the court; Western Australia's Department of Corrective Services was fined A$285,000 and G4S was fined A$285,000 by Kalgoorlie magistrates court.

  20. I'm glad that most of you understand in a similar way to what I do !! Some very good sangat on here. I do believe it is talking about the Guru Shabad or the shabad-guru in particular. However, I also find that Sat 1176 has touched on the very important aspect of the ''sound'' or 'dhuni' as being the core of this image.(discuss that later) It is important to realize that the 1st tuk is often misinterpreted on a huge scale !! Many sant babas and deras have tagged on to this and ask followers to meditate on the image or portrait of the guru or even themselves !!- since some of them call themselves a guru ! A very famous baba of a dera that i'm not going to name has mentioned this tuk and his famous portrait is seen at the homes and shrines of many of his followers. If Guru Nanak ji wanted us to meditate on a portrait of him, then he would have left us with many different portraits wouldn't he ?? The term used above is ''murti' and NOT ''murat'' since murat means= picture or portrait or some completely sargun aspect. But Murati means== Characteristics, qualities or virtues of the guru. The shabad is the divine word of God first spoken and written by Guru Nanakji for us Sikhs, that is why the shabad or word is the Guru. Knowing this, some people also think that when trying to meditate, we should have the image of gurbani or 'ek onkaar' then instead of Guru Nanakji's image/or other guru's. But I personally think that it is much more than that !! -Because the Guru has no form, characteristics, shape or size and is timeless. In the 2nd line it says 'Gur ka shabad mantar manu mann' meaning- Take the One word of the Guru,(mantar) and 'manu maan'- accept this in your mind. So the Guru Murti is nothing but the characteristics and virtues of God which in the shabad are to be reflected upon and then these are enshrined within the mind. You can call the guru ka shabad the Divine Naam. and we are to accept and engage our minds in unbroken(at all times) contemplation of this Divine Naam. I know that none of us can draw a portrait or image of the divine qualities of naam and then reflect on them can we?? The contemplation and shabad vichaar does not leave any sirgun image or imprint that defines the virtue. This is very important from what I gather and with simran and vichaar we can eventually enshrine the guru shabad in our minds. Then once we progress, we can get a 'feel' of what 'Gur Murti' really means !! The Gurbani repeatedly makes it clear that the True Guru is Shabad-Roop, and the Essence of the shabad is bodiless, timeless, spaceless, beginingless, endless, eternal, and all-pervading. Therefore, as the Gurbani reveals to us, contemplation on the one Gur-Shabad (Naam) given to us by the Satgur is the real "Gur-Moorati", everything else is a material speculation or logic based on our mental circus (false ego or ignorance). In other words, with the continued practice of Shabad-Vichaar, their arises the Transcendental Vibratory Sound (Dhuni) within, and the contemplation on this Dhuni is the true "Gur Moorati". : Dhuni mahi dhiaanu dhiaan mahi jaaniaa Gurmukhi akath kahaanee: (ang 879) Meditation is in the Dhuni (of Naam, Shabad-Surti, Unstruck Sound-current, etc.), and His knowing (God-realization, etc.) is in such meditation. Become the Gurmukh, and speak the Unspoken Speech (i.e., the Lord's Unspoken Speech - ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਨੀ - can be realized or be known only by becoming the Gurmukh) This dhuni can be achieved with his grace and we have to make the effort to get to that level. Sat 1176, has mentioned this above and it is also when the dasam duar begins to open (I don't want to go off-topic now) The question is- What do you do as a beginner ???? Because you are not going to experience the transcendental sounds and vibrations as a newbie beginner !! - The answer is to do the 'shabad vichaar' to live the gurbani and act and perceive it in everything around you. The more we reflect and contemplate Gurbani then the more it will sink into the heart. Once it has sunk, it places it's feet firmly there and that is called the ''Guru- Charan'' I think the real importance is understanding the whole shabad in this essence and then trying to move forward keeping in mind some of the points mentioned above. I know that when you start simran it is very difficult to get moving and sometimes some of you will just feel stuck in a time warp, but keep at it and keep that love and thirst there. I think it is important to have this thirst and love for Akal Purakh and with simran it should start growing and growing. However, from my personal experience I can also confirm that I too started off by just picturing a portrait of Guru Nanak ji in my mind when trying to meditate. I also knew that I wasn't worshipping the picture but just using it to steady my corrupt mind in helping me get on the simran/meditation path. Therefore, I think that at early stages it is ok to do this if it helps you, but you have to know that you really need to be living and breathing gurbani to get the real 'gur moorati'. The contemplation and shabad vichaar as well as the love has to be there. It takes time, effort, love and his grace but then you get to a stage where you don't need an image of any such portrait. Then the light, image and sound of shabad vibration starts to reveal itself and you know that the inner-knower (antarjami) is revealing himself and confirming the love. I know some people like to sit in front a Guru's portrait when they are trying to find these ropes and I think that it is OK as long you know what the real Guru Moorati means and what you are doing at the starters level. The shabad speaks very loudly for a gurmukh and that is where we should all try to see ourselves at eventually. From gursikh to khalsa to gurmukh ! But the mind circus plays with us so much and keeps trying to hold us down in the dualities. We have to sometimes play with these same dualities to conquer them and help us steer into the ONE that is Akaal Purakh.

  22. The second attack happened in the year 1746 A.D. It was spear-headed by the Hindu steward of the Lahore Darbar, Lakhpat Rai. After the martyrydom of Bhai Taru Singh and Bhai Mani Singh and the imposing of cruel and inhumane laws on Sikhs, Lakhpat Rai's brother Jaspat Rai made them the butt of his jokes. Ratan Singh Bhangu in his ithiaasic granth, Sri Gur Panth Prakash describes the happenings of those days, this event in Sikh history went down as the Choota Galhughara, or lesser holocaust. Jaspat Rai in his hunkaar replied in the most distasteful words towards a Sikh. He said he would cut the hair from their heads and would make ropes of those hairs and tie them back to Lahore. ਸੀਸ ਮੁੰਨੋ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਟ ਬਨਾਵੋਂ I ਤੁਮਰੇ ਬਾਲ ਮਾਲ ਬਣਾਵੋਂ I Adding salt to the wounds he was teasing the Singhs by saying he would cut their joints like Bhai Mani Singh. He then ordered them to leave the Town and the Gurdwara. The Singh’s had been hungry for many days and after hearing his words were in no mood for complying. Jaspat Rai in anger attacked the Singhs. The Singhs did ardas and came out flying the enemy did not know what hit them. The fool Jaspat Rai had awakened the sleeping lion by placing his hand on the lion’s whiskers. ਸ਼ੇਰ ਜਗਾਯੋ ਫੜ ਮੁਛਲ ਸੋਤ I Jaspat Rai was on his elephant commanding his troops when Bhai Nebahoo Singh grabbed the elephants tail and jumped on the elephant and cut of Jaspat Rai’s head. The soldiers seeing this fled the battle. The Singhs then brought rations from the town and made Langar. Lakhpat Rai Vows Revenge On hearing the news of his elder brother’s death Lakhpat Rai took of his turban and said “He would not put a turban on his head until the day he finishes off the Sikhs.” He said he would pass the scissors through the heads of Sikhs and no one will say their name. To start his campaign he first gathered all the Sikhs in Lahore and they were to be scalped and made Shaheed. He did not listen to any pleas from various religious leaders for the innocent Sikhs. He said I would not even listen to God if he asked for their release. Yaheya Khan and Lakhpat Rai then went on to make orders for the arrest of any Sikhs, the banning of the words Guru and Granth ( people were told to use Gurrh and pothi instead). Guru Granth Sahib Jees were found and burnt, thrown in the river or in the wells. The Amritsar Sarovar was filled with soil. The order was to stop Naam of WaheGuru. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ਹਟਾਵੋ I ਔਰ ਸਭਨ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਾਵੋ I The Beginning of the First Ghalooghara Lakhpat Rai then went towards Amritsar. The Sikhs found they could not reach their destinations due the advancement of the Lahore’s army. So it was decided that the Sikhs should go towards the forests of Kahnoovan where an escape could be planned. Lakhpat Rai ordered the army to start cutting the forest so targeting the Sikhs could be made easier. They were firing cannons at the Sikhs in their pursuit. The Sikhs decided it was not right to gain shaheedee while hiding in the forests. The Soormeh were ready to come out but some of the elders said the attack should be done with a hit and run policy as this would achieve more gains. ਭਜ ਭਜ ਲੜਨੋ ਨਹਿ ਕਿਛ ਪਾਪ I So the Sikhs would sit quiet until the army would come to the point where artillery and cavalry could not enter and this is when the Sikhs made their fight. This policy carried on for a while then the Sikhs decided to go to Basolee Mountains for sanctuary as the terrain would help them and they thought the Hindus in the area would help them too. But In Basolee the Sikhs were greeted with bullets and stones. The Sikhs were all cornered off, they had the army facing them in both directions and had the River Ravi and bullets from the mountains on either side. They had no food, no water, no sleep, no cannons, no ammunition, the horses were tired and they had to face the steepness of the climb. The Shasters had become blunt after so much fighting and the arrows had finished. The Sikhs then decided to divide into three groups. One would go up the hills, the second will cross the river Ravi and the third group under the command of Sukha Singh will go and attack Lakhpat Rai. The second group then had to divide again as the River Ravi had become dangerous to cross due the water level. So it was decided anyone on foot would go towards the mountains and the others on horses would go face the enemy. The Fight of Lions The Sikhs that were left decided to fight the enemy face on and remembered the Bachan of Guru Sahib that the SanMukh Sikh who fights face on, will have the power of Sava Lakh. ਸਿਧੋ ਮੁਖ ਕਰ ਮਰੈ ਜੁ ਸੂਰਾ I ਸਵਾ ਲਾਖ ਮੈਂ ਲੇਉਗ ਪੂਰਾ I The Sikhs formed into a round circle and created their human fortress. The Matta was passed and every Sikh said whoever survives would go and create the Raaj of Khalsa and who shall die will go to GurPurh. ਜੋ ਨਿਕਸੁ ਜੈਹੈ ਰਾਜ ਲੈਹੈ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰਪੁਰਿ ਜਾਇ I੫੮I They then went for it straight into the fight like lions they roared. The Singhs were thirsting for Shaheedee where as the enemy wanted to save their lives. ਸਿੰਘ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਚਹੈ ਸਭ ਹੋਵਨ ਤੁਰਕ ਲਰੈ ਨਿਜ ਜਾਨ ਬਚਾਈ I Navab Kapoor Singh was leading the Sikhs, Sardar Jassa Singh was looking after one side. Sardar Sukha Singh was fighting ahead breaking the enemies’ front line. Sukha Singh came close to killing Lakhpat Rai when a cannon hit his horse and his leg was fatally wounded. He held back and his leg was cut off and replaced by a plank of wood. Sardar Jasa Singh received a bullet wound in is thigh but carried on fighting after bandaging his thigh. Navab Kapoor Singh received a straight wound but with Guru Jee’s Kirpa he survived. ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਲੜੋ ਔ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਜਾਵੋ I In this way fighting and moving foward a few thousand Sikhs escaped in a number of directions but such great was the loss that Sons could not see their fathers and brothers could not see their brothers. ਬੇਟਾ ਮਿਲਯੋ ਨ ਬਾਪ ਕੋ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਲਯੋ ਨ ਭਾਈ I The survivors went onto regroup and kept their bachan to the Shaheed Singhs that fell and the rest is as they say is History. 40,000 Sikhs attained martyrdom in this Ghulughara. http://tisarpanth.blogspot.co.nz/2012/12/the-tisarpanth-and-darbar-sahib-phoenix.html

  24. Gurbani says 'Ik saadh bachan atladha' Brahmgiani mahapurkhs from Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee Baba Jawala Singh Jee and more recently Baba Thakur Singh Jee have given bachans about World War 3 and immense environmental changes before Khalsa Raaj. These bachans should not be dismissed and fall into a different category than the usual 'crackpot prophecies' that we can google in an instant. Specific dates have not been given as the dates fluctuate between the amount of beadbi happening and compassionate ardaasa of kamaii wale Gursikhs who do not want to see this level of carnage. But one thing for sure is that the timing cannot be be delayed any further. Baba Amar Singh Jee released a video about all this happening in 1997 and gave specific dates which were meant to be kept gupt. A Brahmgiani Mahapurkh did ardaas in order to delay it. Since and before then there have been random predictions all the time but nothing to back it up. In 2012 there was a big 'end of the world' hype but no Mahapurkh named 2012 as a specific year. However, kamai wale Singhs and Mahapurkhs have said that it will happen in the next few years, this topic is evidence of that. The aboveveer jee I quoted has made some valid points. We shouldn't just sit around and wait for all this to happen and should get on with our lives. But on the same token we have been told to prepare by increasing our nitnem, getting baani kant, keeping shasters and basic survival skills. Whether we believe in these bachans or not, in Sikhi we are meant to be tyar bar tyar so ill-preparedness is not an excuse.

  27. I just have one request... Please don't give up on life because of prophecies. Keep getting an education, keep striving to become successful, keep supporting your family, keep uplifting your Sikhi, I have seen and heard people making prophecies for a long time now (I'm probably older than alot of you), and one thing I have noticed over and over again is that the prophecy dates keep on changing. In 2002 they were saying 2007 is the end... Then 2007 came and went, and people started saying 2012. And now we are again pushing it to 2016. It's the same trend over and over. If you want to believe these prophecies, that's your own choice, all I'm saying is please don't give up on things you strive for in life.(for example: what's the point in getting married, finishing university etc if the world is gonna end anyways?) And don't max out your credit cards!

  29. In october 1884 pope leo when coming out of church heard 2 voices. One of Satan( kalyug ) and other of god. Kalyug said i can attack your home but i need more power and time. God said - how much satan said 75- 100 years and exactly before the finish of 100 years on october 1984, On june 1984 it attacked amritsar. You can search in google just type - pope vision 1884. And exactly 28 years after kalyug's attack means on june 2012( june 2012 is the end of exile period of true forces ). From june 2012 add 3.5 years. June 2012 + 3.5 years = 2016. 3.5 years is the countdown years after exile period is over. Now all this was theory explanation but other practical explanation is that mangal parkash and bachans of mahapurakhs also agree and fall near this timeline Satyug within this kalyug of 14000 years will begin in coming few years but just suppose 2016 + 14000 years = khalsa raj and kalyug will be arond 5130 years old in 2016 So 5130 + 14000 =19000 years approximately so after 14000 years is over kalyug will again come back and this kalki avatar will come 4 lakh 13000 years after khalsa raj is over.

  30. I really do think Sarbat people and gay sikhs (there are loads... y'all will be surprised!) are pushing it with the anand karaj. There is no need for gay Sikhs to get married or to indulge in this khaami lifestyle... what you should be doing is focusing on controlling it... accepting your gay is one thing but you should not be acting on it... it is ultimately an unhealthy practice to engage in homosexual coitus... There are other methods out there which gay Sikhs should look to explore before engaging in such activities. BUT I agree with earlier posts that it is wrong to believe that homosexuality is deviate and we should shun gay people as abnormal is going too far... We should accept Gay Sikhs but NOT those that act upon it sexually... There is this gay dude that does sooo much seva at my local Gurdwara everyday and its distressing to see sangat mock him and avoid him even though the amount of seva and obvious humility he has... On side note I wish people would not pick and choose the edicts of the Akal Takhat and the direction of Jathedar Gurbachan Singh... Either accept the Hukams that come out the Akal Takhat or dont...

  31. "Imagine if America was a dictatorship. You could let 1% of the people have all the nation's wealth. You could help your rich friends get richer by cutting their taxes. And bailing them out when they gamble and lose. You could ignore the needs of the poor for health care and education. Your media would appear free, but would secretly be controlled by one person and his family. You could wiretap phones. You could torture foreign prisoners. You could have rigged elections. You could lie about why you go to war. You could fill your prisons with one particular racial group, and no one would complain. You could use the media to scare the people into supporting policies that are against their interests." - Dictator Aladeen.

  33. They're also human beings with hearts and minds like the rest of us, who feel an affinity for the Sikh faith like us. I'd be lying if I said I was totally on-board with the homosexual manifesto (a bit dramatic but :lol2: ), but a bit of understanding from where they're coming from would be nice. Although a gay Anand Karaj is pushing it a bit far for my tastes.

  34. Although the Badal Dal are raising the 1984 massacre in the media after all this time they are silent on the other Genocide aspects. The 1984 memorial recognition of the Shaheeds is being opposed by the Badal group (Makkar and the Jathedhars)due to pressure from the BJP/RSS. They have told him it could loose support for the BJP in the Punjab as they are in alliance with Badal Akalis. The BJP actually supported the attack on the Gurdwaras in 1984 with Advani saying it should have been done earlier. Also many of those responsible for the Genocide of Sikhs from 1984 to 1995 have been promoted in the Punjab Police force such as Sumedh Saini responsible for killing many members of Prof Davinderpal Singh's family. If Badal took action against the Police officers as he promised before the elections in the late 1990's, that would show if they really changed and were concerned about Sikh human rights.

  36. 'Moore' is a tricky one. Bobby Moore is West Ham / East ham so quite possibly Ramgharia. But then again Roger Moore liked a drink so perhaps jatt. But Sir Patrick Moore liked looking at the stars and astrology jantar mantar so it would seem Khatri. Having said that, Bobby Moore was once arrested during a World Cup in South America for shoplifting dodgy jewellery.....so I'm voting *edited*.

  37. First, I suggest you start by simple ''WAHEGURU'' nam jap. Best way to do this is sit with legs crossed, have a cushion or pillow edged on your lower back and back straight. Then 'hath jorh''- put your hands together Make sure it is not too bright, and the lights are very dim so that you don't get a light distraction when closing your eyes. THEN- pay attention to your breath IN and breath OUT. When you breathe in you should pull your navel area inward with your breath IN and then thrust it outward when breathing OUT.. NOTE- this is opposite to the chest movement we usually do whilst breathing normally. Try it, and you shall see what I mean. Bhagat Kabir ji calls it ''reverse breath'' in one shabad ! Now once you get in the swing of this, then start saying 'WAHE" whilst you breathe IN and ''GURU"" whilst you breathe OUT. There is no particular speed or anything but just try to do it with normal breath rate. Utter the 'waheguru' mantra with your tongue, it doesn't have to be loud but a little more than a whisper. Then start to listen to yourself and think of completely nothing, except WAHEGURU. You can imagine or think of a picture of a Guru to help you, or sometime some people prefer to sit infront of a picture and keep glancing to picture it in their minds. It doesn't matter if it is a picture of Guru Nanak or other guru because you are NOT worshipping the picture, the picture is just your GUIDE to Akaal Purakh. Keep doing this until you can do ti in your mind an in silence. I know that it takes some people a long time to get to this, - where you are silently reciting gurmantar in your mind but I can nowadays do it within about 20-30 seconds. However, if you get distracted or your thoughts begin to take over, then you should bring yourself bacj to louder recitation and focusing on your breathing and listening. To be honest, the best time to do this is Amrit vela, between 2.30am and 5.30 am. You will notice that you will find it easier to get rid of thoughts at this time after you have had a shower. Start by doing this and within a few weeks to months(depending) your 3rd eye shall open. When this happens you will know. You start to see different colours whilst meditating and then a little light begins to appear. However, this little dot of light may appear when you first start. If it does then you should just try to look at it and focus on it, this also will help you blank your mind from other thoughts. It is easily seen by looking in the area of your trikuti or between your eyebrows where your 3rd eye is located. Lot's of things happen and occur once you get into it. You get vsions, feel sensations all over your body, fell vibrations both deep within and around certain parts of the body, changes in temperature..etc.. But when ALL of these are happening you should still try and keep your focus on the simran. You shouldn't let them distract you. I usually see them as reassurances that you are doing it correctly and therefore you should just let it happen but keep the focus on Guruji. BTW. Do ardas before you start to ask for forgiveness for any unintentional bhul chuk done by yourself. and ask waheguru to help you and guide you in Devoting yourself to him. Ask for strength and guidance so that you can progress on this path. We all take different times on our paths and it all comes with his grace and blessing.

  38. You are so gullible !! :lol2: The biscuits are NOT made according to Islamic slaughter ritual like halal meat is. The label of 'Halal' on these biscuits and other Non-meat foods you see means- That the proceeds of the money you your parents paid for them will go to Islamic funding. This Islamic funding is for their own banks and societies that don't pay any interest as according to muslim culture. This means that you have probably financially contributed towards helping the Taliban and muslim extremists :biggrin2: :biggrin2: On the brighter side, since your hard earned money is now in a Islamic bank, this means that you may be entitled with a VIP pass to muslim heaven with 72 virgins !! :lol2: :stupidme: ..Oohh twaaadhi !!!
