  1. There are other points also that are not true. It says that it is in sikh religion to sleep with elders. That is nonsense.

  2. The part in the article where it said: "Perhaps it was his kindness that did it, but I knew it was time to break the Sikh code of honour. This dictates that you should never say anything negative to your parents about the family you’ve married into, particularly if you’ve had an arranged marriage. " "Sikh code of honour"? where in the Rehit Maryadha does it says that? sometimes the media adds this type of stuff even if the person they are quoting hasn't said it. It's unfortunate that this lady was murdered. Such people like the Mother in Law should be shamed.

  3. This is story of children with low moral values and looking down upon ethical values of our system. Even though they have been brought up in sikh households they seem to pretend to be unaware of sikh culture and want to copy gutter habits of western culture. .

  5. You can't be a "full on Sikh" if you murder someone. She's as much of a "full on Sikh" as Jagir Kaur who used to do beadbi of roms on her face and kill her daughter. Such people are Bhekhi Sikhs. Plenty of them out there. Also, I don't understand why some of you are so hung up on to her appearance I know dozens of non religious Punjabi women who also abuse their daughter in Laws, that doesn't mean all regular Punjabi women are evil. This sadly is just the nature of a lot of women. MILs and DILs cannot get along with each other. Religion has nothing to do with it. As for the article, I think it is an excerpt from the book of the surviving daughter in Law. While I sympathize with her and what she went through, but I think some parts are probably added by the editors or co writers of the book. Because no woman who is born and raised in Punjab would say some things like it is against the Rehit maryadha to go against the family or that it is a Sikh tradition to sleep with your elders. Because a women who is born and raised in Punjab knows this is not a Sikh tradition. This is something that a western person of non Punjabi background would say or should I say would have added into this piece of writing to make it sound more interesting and sensationalized for the western reader.

  10. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh One day, I woke early in the morning to watch the sunrise. Ah... the beauty of Waheguru's creation is beyond description. As I watched, I praised Waheguru for His beautiful work. As I sat there, I felt the Lord's presence with me. He asked me, "Do you love me?" I answered, "Of course, Waheguru! You are my Lord and Support!" Then He asked, "If you were physically handicapped, would you still love me?" I was perplexed. I looked down upon my arms, legs and the rest of my body and wondered how many things I wouldn't be able to do and thought about the things that I take for granted. I answered, "It would be tough Waheguru, but I would still love You." Then Waheguru said, "If you were blind, would you still love my creation?" How could I love something without being able to see it? Then I thought of all the blind people in the world and how many of them still loved Waheguru and His creation. So I answered, "It's hard to think of it, but I would still love you." The Waheguru then asked me, "If you were deaf, would you still listen to my word?" How could I listen to anything being deaf? Then I understood. Listening to Waheguru's Word is not merely using our ears, but our hearts. I answered, "It would be tough, but I would still listen to Your word." Waheguru then asked, "If you were mute, would you still praise My Name?" How could I praise without a voice? Then it occurred to me, Waheguru wants us to sing from our very hearts and souls. It never matters what we sound like. And praising Waheguru is not always with a song, but when we are persecuted, we give Waheguru praise with our words of thanks. So I answered, "Though I could not physically sing, I would still praise Your Name." And Waheguru asked, "Do you really love Me?" With courage and a strong conviction, I answered boldly, "Yes Waheguru! I love You because You are the one and true God!" I thought I had answered well, but Waheguru asked, "Then why do you sin?" I answered, "Because I am only human. I am not perfect." "Then why in times of peace do you stray the furthest? Why only in times of trouble do you pray the earnest?" I had no answers, only tears. Waheguru continued. "Why seek Me only in times of worship? Why ask things so selfishly? Why ask things so unfaithfully?" The tears continued to roll down my cheeks. "Why are you ashamed of Me? Why are you not spreading the good news? Why in times of persecution, you cry to others when I offer My shoulder to cry on? Why make excuses when I give you opportunities to serve in My Name?" "You are blessed with life. I made you not to throw this gift away. I have blessed you with talents to serve Me, but you continue to turn away. I have revealed My Word to you, but you do not gain in knowledge. I have spoken to you but your ears were closed. I have shown My blessings to you, but your eyes were turned away. I have sent you servants, but you sat idly by as they were pushed away. I have heard your prayers and I have answered them all. Do you truly love me? I could not answer. How could I? I was embarrassed beyond belief. I had no excuse. What could I say to this? When my heart had cried out and the tears had flowed, I said, "Please forgive me Lord. I am unworthy to be Your child." The Lord answered, "That is My nature, My child." I asked, "Then why do you continue to forgive me? Why do You love me so?" The Lord answered, " Because you are My creation. You are my child. I will never abandon you. When you cry, I will have compassion and cry with you. When you shout with joy, I will laugh with you. When you are down, I will encourage you. When you fall, I will raise you up. When you are tired, I will carry you. I will be with you until the end of days, and I will love you forever." Never had I cried so hard before. How could I have been so cold? How could I have hurt God as I had done? I looked up at my Lord, and asked him "how much do you love me, Waheguru?" Our father Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji gave up his whole family and everything he ever had for us! This is how much Waheguru loves us Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

  11. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa !! Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh !! Waheguru Ji , Jaap Sahib – Sava Lakh (125,000) by June 2014 1984-30 YEARS-2014 June 1984 saw the tyrannical armies of India launch a full scale military attack on Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar and the Sikh Panth. This was one of the first of a series of brutal and calculated attacks on the Sikh community designed to ridicule and break the backbone of our faith. In the following 29 years we have seen hundreds and thousands of people lose their lives in what is nothing short of genocide. The year 2014 will mark 30 years since this cold-blooded assault and attack on the heart of our panth. We will NEVER FORGET 1984, in fact we will remember what happened each and every day. We will forever praise the Great Warriors and Defenders of our Faith who fought till the last breath for the Chardi Kala of the Sikh Panth. WHATS THE PLAN? The Plan is to unite as a Panth in the Charan of Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaaj under One Nishan Sahib and do ardas for the Chardi Kala of the Khalsa and begin the Savah Lakh Jaap Sahib Gurbani Jaap. Through the Bani of the True Guru we can unite and remember the great Martyrs/Shaheeds of the Kaum This is our chance to unite across the globe, pray together and demonstrate our unity through the love of Gurbani and our Mahaan Shaheed Warriors. The aim is to have done 125,000 Jaap Sahib de Paath by June 2014. We cannot do this alone, we need our Panthic Brothers and Sisters, Mothers and Fathers from around the world, to join in with us and complete this task. As individuals we can only achieve so much, but with the support of Gurbani and the Sangat, we can attain everything. So let’s show our conviction and faith in Vaheguru ji and complete Savah Lakh (125,000) Sri Jaap Sahib de Paath by 06 June 2014 This paath will allow each one of us to make a daily contribution to the betterment of the Panth. We are at a stage where simply attending one day events is not enough, we need to be working daily towards living as true Khalsa’s. If we truly care, then taking out just a few minutes each day is a small contribution to make. WHO CAN AND SHOULD GET INVOLVED? The answer to this question is simple: Anyone who loves the blessed Shaheed Singhs and Singhnia of the Khalsa Panth…and actually wants to make a difference by reading and doing parchar of the Bani of Pita Ji Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj. So in essence, this should include each and every one of us. It doesn’t matter, whether you have taken Amrit or not, whether you keep your kesh or not, whether you belong to certain groups or not. This is our chance to gather as a community of human beings and do something together for the betterment of our Panth and remember the Brave Warriors who lived and died for the Truth. SO WHAT SHOULD I DO? What we ask is that each of us reads/listens to as many Jaap Sahib’s as possible with a collective aim to reach the target of 125,000. So read/listen to the Sacred Bani of Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj and record how many you have done. Then on a daily, weekly or fortnightly basis update the website so that we can keep a record of how we are doing. If you cannot read Gurbani then please try and listen to the bani being read. You can download the audio, watch videos with the audio playing and obtain English translations for you to read. We just want as many people contributing as much as they can for our Beloved Khalsa Panth. If this means that you can manage one Jaap Sahib a day, then we thank you, as that is one more Bani being read for the Chardi Kala of our Beloved Panth. Please, take out this time and do as much as you can. *Please note the Jaap Sahib that you do as a part of your Nitnem does not count towards the Savah Lakh (125,000) Jaap Sahib Gurbani jaap. RECORDING THE PAATH The primary method of recording the number of paath done will be via this website www.jaapsahib.com, we ask that you visit the site regularly to submit the number of paaths you (and your family/friends) have done. The information we receive will be treated with the upmost respect and confidentiality. This is not started by any particular jathabandi or political group; just the youth of the Panth…..for the love of the Panth and the Mahaan Shaheeds of our great Kaum whom spilt every last drop of blood in their bodies for the Chardi Kala of the Khalsa Panth. Please help promote this and take part in the seva as it is a formidable task to take on. http://www.jaapsahib.com/

  12. Once a king in India went to Guru Nanak Dev Ji and asked, “O Guru! As you told us that God Himself supports His true worshiper, but God has so many apostles, why does He support His devotees Himself? Why does not He send His apostles to help the devotees?” As he said this, his own son who was playing at the bank of a nearby river slipped in the river. The king did not waited for a second and jumped in the river right after his son to save his child. After saving his child he returned to the Guru. The Guru asked, “My dear friend, you were sitting here with me a minute ago and why did you jump in the river?” King explained that his son had slipped in the river and he went to save him. Then the Guru asked, “Dear friend, you have so many servants then why did you jumped in the river by yourself? Why did not you send you servants to save him?” The King said, “When it come to my son. I do not want to take any chances and would do anything it takes to protect him. I love my son very much and I do not want to lose him at any cost.” Then Guru Ji said, “My dear friend, God loves His devotees the same way as you love your son. That is why he Himself saves His true worshipper.”

  15. The whole SIKH KAUM feels proud when a Pooran GurSikh has an achievement for humanity. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2341050/Time-write-textbooks-British-scientists-discover-new-human-body--hidden-deep-eye.html Time to re-write the textbooks: British scientists discover a new part of the human body - hidden deep in the eyeNottingham researchers found the new layer - which is just 0.001 mm thick - within the cornea, the clear window at the front of the eye Called 'Dua's Layer', it could dramatically improve corneal graft treatments The previously undetected layer could explain a myriad of eye diseases By Nicola Rowe A previously unknown layer of the cornea has been discovered in the human eye, a breakthrough experts say could 'rewrite the opthalmology textbooks'. Researchers from the University of Nottingham found the new layer - which is just 0.001 mm thick - within the cornea, the clear window at the front of the eye. They say it could help surgeons dramatically improve outcomes for patients undergoing corneal grafts and transplants. The discovery of Dua's Layer could explain the source of a number of previously unexplained eye diseases WHAT DOES THE DISCOVERY OF DUA'S LAYER MEAN? Knowledge of Dua's Layer could improve outcomes for patients undergoing corneal grafts and transplants During surgery, tiny air bubble are injected into corneal stroma via the 'big bubble technique' If the bubble bursts it causes damage to the eye. But if the air bubble is injected under Dua's layer instead of above it, the layer's strength reduces the risk of tearing Diseases of the cornea including acute hydrops, Descematocele and pre-Descemet's dystrophies may be affected by the discovery of Dua's layer Problems with the layer could also explain many eye diseases that until now were elusive in origin. The new layer has been dubbed the Dua's layer, after Professor Harminder Dua who discovered it, reports journal Ophthalmology. Professor Dua said: "This is a major discovery that will mean that ophthalmology textbooks will literally need to be re-written. Having identified this new and distinct layer deep in the tissue of the cornea, we can now exploit its presence to make operations much safer and simpler for patients. Professor Harminder Dua at the University of Nottingham discovered the previously undetected layer 'From a clinical perspective, there are many diseases that affect the back of the cornea which clinicians across the world are already beginning to relate to the presence, absence or tear in this layer.' Scientists previously believed the cornea to be comprised of five layers, from front to back, the corneal epithelium, Bowman's layer, the corneal stroma, Descemet's membrane and the corneal endothelium. The new layer that has been discovered is located at the back of the cornea between the corneal stroma and Descemet's membrane. Although it is just 15 microns thick - the entire cornea is around 550 microns thick or 0.5mm - it is incredibly tough and is strong enough to be able to withstand one and a half to two bars of pressure. Researchers proved the layer existed by simulating human corneal transplants and grafts on eyes donated for research. During these experiments, tiny bubbles of air were injected into the cornea to separate the different layers. The scientists then subjected the separated layers to electron microscopy, allowing them to study them at many thousand times their actual size and revealing Dua's layer. The authors say that the discovery will have an impact on advancing understanding of a number of diseases of the cornea, including acute hydrops, Descematocele and pre-Descemet's dystrophies The scientists now believe that corneal hydrops, a bulging of the cornea caused by fluid build up that occurs in patients with keratoconus (conical deformity of the cornea), is caused by a tear in the Dua layer, through which water from inside the eye rushes in and causes waterlogging.

  20. When a Khalsa who has taken Khande Battay Da Amrit does such a thing and it's in the news the Jathedar needs to take action. Without Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib we wouldn't be here today. This is one of the main reasons why the indian govnt dismantled it, but little did they know through blood we can rebuild it. They learned the hard way that in order to suppress the Sikhs you need to send pakhandi babay who preach pseudo-Sikhi pseudo-Sikh history and occupy their institutions under weak/laalchi leaders. I'm not affiliated with Panthic.Org, I acknowledge that they may have a bias towards AKJ and don't do a good job of having balanced journalism, but overall they've done a good job of exposing missionaries and pakhandi babay like pehowe wale so I commend them. Sikh Orgs should condemn this and I'm sure United Sikhs and other Orgs like Khalsa Aid will soon see this news piece and condemn this bibi. Ideally the jathedar of Akaal Takhat Sahib would declare these people naastik and patit and a severe repentance (via massive sewa and action fitting to what they had done). It's ultimately up to the individual to follow the punishment, but they would have to follow it to be admitted back into the Panth. On top of this it should be displayed in the media via social media outlets so Sikhs can know there is something being done.

As for the picture the guy could have been Hindu Punjabi as they are now the majority in many parts of Punjab. Regardless of what he is, he should have been beaten to a pulp for the additional reason of putting an infant at risk.

  27. Yes, that one was a bit random. I'm hoping it's the journalist adding a bit of masala to the article. I'm certain the lady in question knows there's no such directive for Sikhs to sleep with elders. Also, I think the reason the term 'Sikh' is used so loosely in the article above, as opposed to 'Panjabi' (which is more accurate IMO), is because the mother in law was Amritdhari, therefore you could say she, unfortunately, gives the impression this is what baptised Sikhs are like behind closed doors, or even this is how the Sikh religion requires baptised individuals to behave. I don't dismiss the tragedy of the situation faced by the young lady, but the Daily Mail isn't one for showing ethnics in a favourable light regardless of the situation.

  33. IT would be better to name the college centre after Maharaja Duleep Singh who's daughters attended the college. Indira Gandhi actually failed the entrance exam and was a poor student, spending her time at parties in London. Princesses Catherine and Bamba Duleep Singh (Somerville College) Catherine and Bamba were daughters of the last Maharaja of the Sikh, Raj Duleep Singh. He had been exiled to Great Britain as a young boy and was the ward of Queen Victoria. She insisted that the Maharaja's children be given the best English education and was instrumental in the princesses studying in Oxford in the 1890s. It was a traumatic time for the girls. Their mother had recently died and their father was fighting a campaign to reclaim the throne of the Punjab. "I think they would have wanted to study very quietly," suggested Peter Bance, historian and author of 'Sovereign, Squire and Rebel - Maharaja Duleep Singh'. "They... had a very hard last few years leading up to Somerville, so I don't think they wanted to voice too much of their political or religious views in any way." As adults they took part in the Suffragette movement, assisted Jews escape Nazi Germany, founded a Museum in Norfolk and served as patrons to numerous English establishments. Bamba later styled herself as 'Queen of the Punjab' but when she died in 1957 she was the last surviving member of the dynasty Indira Gandhi (Somerville College) Indira Gandhi originally failed her entrance examination for Oxford but was eventually accepted at Somerville College. She was the first, and to date only, female Prime Minister of India and the world's longest serving woman Prime Minister (1966 to 1977 and 1980 until 1984 when she was assassinated

The parents can chat to get an idea of each other - the girl's family will want to know what kind of family their daughter might be going into and the boy's family need to know what kind of background the girl's come from. As a boy, I've been grilled by the father, mother, grandparents and siblings of the prospective girls. It's more scary to meet and chat with the girl in my experience.

I would then proceed to put each packet of crisps, bar of chocolate etc in my pockets and walk out. Now I did have money but my understanding of shopping was that you ask the shopkeeper and then take the goods, paying never occurred to me. Of course when I came home and my beloved grandfather saw how much I had in my hands he would usually say "hoi pagal de puthar, onu pessai daytay se?". My grandfather would then march me back to the shops and apologise to the shopkeeper and pay. The shopkeepers would always say how cute I was lol.

  41. MAKE ME BLIND In the times of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, there was a very poor gursikh who lived in a hut alone. This gursikh was blind and had grown to love the guru from what he had heard. As he couldn’t travel anywhere he would find out who has gone from his village to see the guru. He would ask them, “What does the Guru look like? What weapons does he keep? What stories does he tell?” Each person would reply, “I cannot explain in words.” One night he could not sleep, as his thoughts were focused on meeting the guru. He longed so much to see the beautiful Mukh of Guru Maharaaj. He could not take it any longer and felt angry at himself for being blind. “Guru Ji, I am such a dirty sinner, I am unworthy of your darshan. I do not know what countless sins I have committed for me to suffer without you.” At this moment Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji awoke from Samadhi, and told his Sikhs to get the horses ready to leave immediately. The gursikh felt helpless and began to cry tearing his hut apart. He wanted to go to see his guru; he then made up his mind that he would go by foot and allow the guru to guide him. He packed some food and set off in the dark. On his way he tripped and fell hurting himself badly. His thoughts remained on meeting his guru as he lay on the ground. He suddenly felt two strong arms lift him up to his feet, and he heard a voice. “I have come, my beloved. I could not sleep without doing your darshan, I felt my heart pulling me towards you and I had to come.” When the blind sikh heard this he fell to the guru’s feet and could not contain himself. Guru ji again lifted him to him feet and said, “the home of Guru Nanak contains everything, ask of what you will.” “Guru Ji all that I ask of is that my eyes may work and have your beautiful darshan.” Guru ji smiled and kissed him on both eyes. When he opened them, he fell at Guru Ji’s feet upon seeing him and wept at Guru Ji’s feet. He stared at Guru Ji in amazement for some time. “Beloved I must go now, it is amritvela and the sangat will be waiting.” “ Guru Ji I cannot live without your Darshan now, what will I do?” Guru Ji replied, “The house of Guru Nanak again offers what you ask of it, one more thing.” The gursikh fell to the floor and said, “ Guru Ji if you are going to give me one more thing, then please take these eyes away as I wish not to see anything ever again after having your darshan.” A tear dropped down Guru Ji’s cheek as he granted the final wish.

  42. Wahegurujikakhalsawahegurujikifateh One time during the summer some sangat were sat under a tree outside a Gurudwara Sahib talking about the weather. As they spoke about the heat one of the sangat members said that he wished they could get some badam from somewhere so that they could make some cool Badam Milk. All the sangat members agreed with him but began to mourn the fact that badam were currently not in season. As they said this one moorakh sat over there saidwhile laughing, “Why don't you climb up this tree and shake it? Badam will surely come falling down!” (In reference to the test set by Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj for Bhai Lehna Ji) Sant Teja Singh Ji whowas walking near by overheard what the moorakh said and immediately told him not to utter such stupid remarks. Santji then began to tell the sangat that the house of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj lacks nothing as Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj is Nirankar himself. After saying this Santji began to shake the tree and badam began to fall down. Santji then very lovingly collected all the badam and made Badam Milk which he offered to Sant Baba Attar Singh Ji. When Sant Attar Singh Ji saw the Badam Milk he looked at Sant Teja Singh Ji with surprise and told him where did you get the badam from? Sant Teja Singh then narrated the events above. Sant Attar Singh Ji admired Sant Teja Singh Ji's love for Guru Sahib but also gave an updesh about using such atmik shaktis. Khalsaji never doubt the events that unfold till today at the beautiful feet of Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. Loose translation based on katha, originally transcribed in a book written about the Jeevani of Sant Baba Teja Singh Ji. Wahegurujikakhalsawahegurujikifateh

  43. Translated from “Ardas Shakti”, written by Sardar Raghbir Singh Bir. This story is pretty inspiring. ******BEGINNING OF TRANSLATION*********** AUKHI GHAREE NAA DEKHAN DAYEE, APNA BIRAD SAMAALE|| My daughter (S. Raghbir Singh jee's daughter) was expecting a baby. Since this was her first time, it was expected to be a painful delivery. Till nine months, my daughter’s health was normal but at end of the ninth months, her whole body swelled and became sore. Due to some other reasons too, the doctors did not think that this would be a normal delivery case. When I told the senior doctor that for while, everything in my home had been normal and that Vaheguru had never disappointed me, he started laughing, called the other doctors and said, “Look, Mr. Singh is sure that the baby will be delivered normally.” Other doctors too addressed me as Mr. Singh and told me that they too want the baby to be born by normal delivery but all circumstances are leading towards delivery through operation and that they have to be prepared for that. When the time for delivery came, my daughter was taken to the hospital. All day she stayed in great pain and around 11pm the doctor told me that next day around 4am – 5am the baby will be born and that I should go home now. My daughter had become very weak after enduring pain all day. She called me over and said to me that she does not have power to even do ardaas and that I should perform ardaas (prayer) for her. She said that she could sustain pain anymore and asked me to do ardaas to rid her of pain. I myself was in a state of shock and surprise over the events of the whole day. My daughter had been in pain all day and the doctors were suggesting that she would have to sustain pain all night as well. He condition was very serious at that time. After much persuasion by the doctors to leave for home, I came back home around 11pm, so that I may knock the door of Siri Guru Granth Sahib jee and do ardaas. Before going for home, I went to the labour room (where babies are delivered) and I did ardaas and recited the following shabad with full faith: BILAVAL MAHALLA 5 || TAATEE VAAO NAA LAGAYEE, PARBRAHAM SHARNAAYEE|| CHAUGIRD HAMARAI RAMKAAR, DUKH LAGAI NAA BHAAYEE|| 1 || SATGUR POORA BHETIYA, JIN BANAT BANAAYEE|| RAAM NAAM AUKHAD DIYA, EKA LIV LAAYEE|| RAHAO || 1 || RAAKH LIYE TINN RAKHANHAAR, SABH BIYAADH MITAAYEE|| KAHO NANAK KIRPA BHAYEE, PRABH BHAYE SAHAAYEE|| 2 || I came home while my daughter and my wife stayed at the hospital. It took me 10 minutes to come home in my car. At 11:10pm I started doing ardaas with folded hands. My idea was that since I will not be able to sleep, I would spend the whole night doing ardaas and simran. Going through this ardaas what I experienced and what I saw, would be hard to explain but I will try my best to write for the benefit of readers of “Aatam-Science” (A Sikh spiritual magazine) what occurred during my ardaas: WHAT HAPPENED IN THE BEGINNING OF MY ARDAAS In the beginning of my ardaas I had a very scary thought. This thought and vision had been created as a result of my faithlessness or maybe it was created as a test for me. I am not sure of this. I think before every spiritual experience, Maaiya tries its best not to let one escape from its clutches. If the spiritual student stays strong and does not falter during such tests, then illusions like maaiya cannot do anything and the infinite power of Vaheguru protects the Sikh. In the beginning of the ardaas this thought came in my mind that first of all, Vaheguru in front of whom I am doing ardaas probably does not exist and even if he does exist, there is nothing he can do about it as the current situation of my daughter is the result of her bad karma from previous life. The inner voice addressed me saying that my daughter must have done some very bad karma in her previous life and for this she will have to suffer. The thoughts came to my mind along the lines that the condition of my daughter in fact is very serious and that what the doctors are saying is truth. I am not going to get anything positive out of this ardaas. Then the thought came to my mind that it was my duty to stick around my daughter who is at deathbed and instead of sticking around with her, I have run home to do ardaas like a coward. Instead of facing the problem, I am looking for refuge a futile thing like ardaas. After this I saw in my thoughts the dead body of my daughter and the thought came to my mind that it is futile to do ardaas for a dead body. I FIGHT BACK THE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS OF MY MIND I was very surprised to see such attacks of my mind and got worried. After I saw the dead body of my daughter in my thoughts I cried out, “NO NO NO, this cannot happen! My father Vaheguru is all mighty. My Vaheguru will not consider my daughter’s previous karma. I have come under his protection and he always keeps honour of the ones who come to him. The scene and the thoughts that I had seen are all illusion. My Vaheguru is million times powerful than Maaiya the illusion. My eyes can be deceived, as what they see may be wrong. My ears can be deceived, as what they listen to could be wrong. My daughter can be deceived by illusion of maaiya. The doctors can be deceived by maaiya but I am a Sikh of Guru Arjun Dev jee and I am a Khalsa of Guru Gobind Singh jee. I cannot be deceived (dhokha) by maiya. I know that if Vaheguru wants he can survive us without breathing. My daughter will surely get cured”. After saying out all this, I extended my hazooriya towards Vaheguru and said, “Sache Paatshah, please don’t look at my weaknesses. Cure my sweet daughter. Please prove the falsehood of maaiya”. When the above stated thoughts went across my mind, the previous scary thoughts vanished. My anxious and tired mind was filled with peace and fearlessness. In this new state of mind, I was saying: VAHEGURU JEE KAA KHALSA VAHEGURU JEE KEE FATEH|| While sitting in this state of mind, I heard the phone ring. I picked up the phone and found out that my daughter had given birth to a baby at 11:43pm and that the birth was natural and not by operation. Doctors were surprised at this. My daughter and her child were doing just fine. After the phone call, I was filled with gratitude and started reciting the following pankiti of Gurbani: VAARIYA NAA JAAVAAN IKK BAAR|| TU SADA SALAMAT NIRUNKAAR|| ***********END OF THE TRANSLATION************ This is a very good story that tells us a lot about Vaheguru and how to do ardaas. The key to ardaas is to not let negative thoughts come near and to let positive thoughts fill our mind. Faith is the key to the success of ardaas. Vaheguru listens to ardaas from anyone who comes to his sharan. Dropati whose honour Vaheguru kept was no mahapurakh. Gajj who was saved by Vaheguru did not have any bhagtee. What we need to do is submit to Vaheguru. He does not know how to say no to his bhagats. If we lead our lives according to the hukams of Guru Sahib and try to keep his rehit and Naam, we have nothing to worry about. Daas, Kulbir Singh

  45. Good to see you don't classify Bieber, Mars, etc., as music. The first step is identifying the problem and you've done that, so well done. :biggrin2:

  46. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh One time Subedhar Major Sodhi Harbhajan Singh Ji was posted to Kashmir as part of the Border Security Force. Here at Sri Nagar Asthan Singh Sabha Gurudwara Sahib Baba Ji performed katha which was attended in large numbers by the local sangat and the other Fauji Singhs. One evening Baba Ji spoke very passionately about doing darshan and namaskar of Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and what effects this would have on a Gursikh and their jeevan. A Fauji Singh who was sat in Guru Sahib’s darbar listened to Bana Ji’s katha and was deeply moved. After going home he did an ardas to Maharaj begging Guru Sahib to light the flame of Sikhi in his heart. The next day the Fauji Singh came into the Darbar Sahib as Baba Ji was speaking and walked towards Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj before kissing Maharaj’s charankamal. Instead of lifting his head back up and taking his place in the Sangat the Fauji Singh kept his forehead firmly planted at the feet of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. Throughout Baba Ji’s katha the Fauji Singh kept his forehead at Maharaj’s charankamal. Once Baba Ji had finished speaking some Sikhs asked him what they should do about the Fauji Singh. Baba Ji smiled and asked them to leave him where he was. In this way the Fauji Singh’s forehead remained with his Guru during Sri Anand Sahib Ji, Ardas and Maharaj’s Hukamanama. After about 2 hours the Fauji Singh finally lifted his head. When he did so the sangat who were still there saw that his face was shiny brightly and that his eyes were red. The Fauji Singh immediately roared a Fateh and then looked at Baba Ji and said, “I’m so surprised! I never knew it was this easy to be blessed by Guru Ji. I never knew that it was this easy for the flame of Sikhi to be lit in my heart.” From this day onwards saas giras naam simran began in the Fauji Singh’s heart. Guru Sahib opened his Dasam Duar and let him rest his head at Maharaj’s charankamal forever. Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. Source: Very summarised version from Bhajan Bandagi Da Pratap For those of us who haven’t quite understood the morals of this story can some beloved Sikh of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj please take the time to spell them out. 47. WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH There was once a family who were in Europe, and they needed to drive 3 days continuously, day and night, to get to Germany. So, they all got into the car -- the man, his wife, and his 3 year old daughter. His little daughter has never traveled at night before. She was scared the first night in the car, with deep darkness outside. "Where are we going, Daddy?" "To your uncle's house, in Germany." "Have you been to his house before?" "No." "Then, do you know the way?" "Maybe, we can read the map." Short pause. "Do you know how to read the map?" "Yes, we will get there safely." Another pause. "Where are we going to eat if we get hungry before arriving?" "We can stop by restuarants if we are hungry." "Do you know if there are restaurants on the way?" "Yes, there are." "Do you know where?" "No, but we will be able to find some." The same dialogue repeated a few times within the first night, and also the second night. But on the third night, his daughter was quiet. The speaker thought that she might have fallen asleep, but when he looked into the mirror, he saw that she was awake and was just looking around calmly. He couldn't help wondering why she was not asking the questions anymore -- "Dear, do you know where we are going?" "Germany, Uncle's house." "Do you know how we are getting there?" "No." "Then why aren't you asking anymore?" "Because Daddy is driving." Because Daddy is driving Because Daddy is driving So I guess what Im getting at is that, YES PITHA JI IS DRIVING  We may know the destination (and sometimes we may just know it like the little girl -- "Germany", without understanding where or what it really is). We do not know the way, we do not know how to read the map, we do not know if we can find restaurants along the way. But the little girl knew the most important thing -- Daddy is driving -- and so she is safe and secure. She knows that her Daddy will provide all that she needs. So what if you have to walk through fire, satguru sri guru gobind singh ji is carrying you in his arms, theres no safer place.... WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH
