  2. This is a video of Sant Jarnail Singh ji doing Mool Mantar Jaap. Listen to how each word is being pronounced and follow along. Then also add the meaning of every word being pronounced as you do the jaap of mool mantar. This will make you aware of what Sikhi is and your actions will be more in tune with Sikhi. As you grow do this jaap while doing other task and duties. Go for a walk and do this jaap. Pronunciation and understanding the correct interpretation is the key to progress. If you want to make it into an audio file go to www.keepvid.com, copy and paste the link, where you will be taken to a new page that will allow you to download it. If you are having difficulties shoot me an pm and I will help you out. You don't want to be the guy worshiping a woman who is sitting in the mountain wearing a red suit and is eating nuts.

  5. Two men have been found guilty of murdering a grandmother who was left to die in a shop basement. Mohammed Islam, 29, from Gillingham, and Murshed Miah, 38, from Maidstone, attacked Harjit Chaggar at the store in Chatham, Kent, last September. They were also found guilty of preventing Mrs Chaggar's lawful burial, along with Abdul Hannan, 44, from Maidstone, and Rasad Miah, of Chatham, Hannan was found not guilty of murder. The men denied all of the charges. Mrs Chaggar's body was only found 12 days after she went missing because of the smell, Canterbury Crown Court heard. 'Motive unclear' Islam worked as a butcher at the store in Luton Road at the time Mrs Chaggar disappeared on 2 September. Jurors heard Mrs Chaggar's badly decomposed body was concealed in a bin bag under the floor boards and her injuries were consistent with being thrown into the basement while still alive. Nigel Pilkington, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said the motive for the murder was unclear. He said some of Mrs Chaggar's belongings were missing and so the most probable motive was robbery. Abdur Rohim, who used to cook at the food store, gave evidence from Bangladesh by video link. Murshed Miah, Abdul Hannan and Mohammed Liakat Islam all denied murder He told the court he never met Mrs Chaggar, but said in the days leading up to the discovery of the body, there had been "a horrible smell" in the shop. Mr Rohim said staff lit incense sticks to get rid of it. 'Callous' Sani Globe was described in court as a grocery shop and a butchers which supplied local restaurants. Jurors heard Hannan and his brother Murshed Miah ran the business while Rasad Miah worked in the shop along with Mr Islam. CCTV captured Mrs Chaggar walking through Chatham Judge Adele Williams praised the dignity of Mrs Chaggar's family and the police investigation. However, shouting from the gallery, Hannan's wife said: "You've not been just. My husband is innocent." Det Supt Rob Vinson, from Kent Police, said the men's silence meant he was unable to tell Mrs Chaggar's family exactly how and why she was attacked and left to die. Nigel Pilkington, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "The defendants all knew... how she came to be killed and why. "The denials of her murder and their collective attempts to hide the truth were particularly callous and aggravated further by the fact that they left her to die." Her son Kuldish Chaggar said: "We pray that she is now at peace and can give us the strength to carry on without her no matter what obstacles are placed in our way, for none can be bigger than losing her. "We remember the good times, the smiles and laughter of a loved and treasured mother and grandmother who had so many hopes and plans for the future." The men are due to be sentenced on 20 May. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-27326538

  6. Gurfateh Sangat Ji, I apologise if this topic has been discussed countless times before, I have read previous discussions and done by own research on this but have failed to any real conclusion and am thus turning to SikhSangat for help. I came across the Air India Flight 182 incident whilst reading up news and facts about the recent incident of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight. As far as I am aware, the Air India Flight 192 bombing was conducted by Babbar Khalsa members in retaliation for Operation Bluestar. I am unaware of how true this is and the details surrounding it, but considering one of the men Inderjit "Singh" Rayat has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and to making the bomb I assume this may well be somewhat accurate. As I don't live in Canada, I was unaware of this whole thing. I googled Inderjit Singh and my word, all I could think of was how can a man who looks like that do something as horrible as this! Looks can be so deceiving, he looks like your average Baba Ji. As a Sikh, I am honestly DISGUSTED if this was done by Sikhs no matter what the reasoning. I admire our shaheeds like Sant Jarnail Singh Ji and Sukha Jinda so much, I admire Bhai Hawara Ji and Balwant Singh Rajoana Ji, but these Singhs never went out of their way to kill innocent people. However, bombing a plane and killing 300+ people for no reason is beyond me and disgusts me to the core. It makes me ashamed, it is embarrassing. I can never ever see Guru Gobind Singh Ji condoning this behaviour in any way or form. It is not Sikhi. Please tell me this was not done by Sikhs. Please tell me it was a conspiracy. Please tell me Inderjit Singh Rayat has been framed, and that innocent looking face isn't the mask of a mass murderer.

  7. There is no doubt that Sikhs back in days were constantly fighting with Mughals and use of bhang was purely for medicinal use only. Just like in today's world, doctor gives steroid medicine to those who suffer great pain of arthritics. However, nihangs made culture and trend now and there is no war but a vehlapan in most dals. So, yes this should be taken out of sikhi culture now.

  8. Did anyone else take notice that langars in North America (and maybe Europe - never been there) are usaully very rich - many dishes , paneer lots of sweets, smosas etc. This creates a bad incentive for people to come just looking for satiating their tongue rather than the spirit. Langar halls have way more 'sangat' comapred to darbar halls. Wonder what this does to the morale of keeranias and kathawachaks. In India langar is very simple - daal and roti and mabye achaar at the most ...

  12. They should delete Boko and just call themselves Haram - because thats what they are. Kidnapping children because they study education and then selling them to pirates for a life of slavery is not logic nevermind religious decree. What amazes me most is when they say Allah told me to do this, or i have Allahs instruction. Shame on all Governments and its agencies for not wiping these scum bags out soon enough

  14. Gabriel You are only 15 and such an independent thinker. That will serve you well throughout your life regardless of your path. As you may know if you’ve read about ‘Sikhi’ (Sikhism), the faith respects all paths and does not believe in a need to “convert”. At the same time, Sikhi is a path that is open to anyone to own for themselves. For the above reasons it is only honorable as per Sikhi to first care for you as a young person ahead of caring for you as a potential Sikh. I note that you are only 15 years old. At this age as you are open to so many ideas. You are also potentially influenced by so much good, bad, and fleeting. Although Sikhi may be amazing for those on the path, ensure that it is the complete picture of Sikhi that is suitable to you. Take the time you need to explore. Sikh men and women do wear “swords”, but you should understand the origin and history of that to know precisely how sacred and meaningful that “kirpan” is. The uncut hair/beard and turban is all part of the required identity and part of living the faith. There is a deep history and spiritual tie in to Sikh living. Do it right and you become a radiant, benevolent, fearless, lion/lioness. Most religions anxiously “love you” to increase numbers. Sikhi is not insecure. It is one of the few that at it’s very core and origin teaches to love, respect, and fight for all religions/paths (sarbat da balla). At the same time Sikhi says come on board here and you should commit to being saint soldier for all of humanity and a student (‘Sikh’) always. Don’t get me wrong regarding your interest in Sikhi. Sikhs admire and even look up to a person who starts completely outside the faith to take an interest. That person’s commitment usually is the most akin to the commitment of the panj pyare. A caution I will throw your way is that many who identify as Sikhs today, despite being good people are slaves to mediocre yawns of success. They have lost the plot and lack the subtle sophistication to live the symphony of Sikhi. They prefer the comfort of anonymity amongst the crowd. In addition there are also those who identify with Sikhi that insult Sikhi with asinine backwoods ethics and mere caste-like familial claims to the identity. By definition, there is no such thing as a familial claim to Sikhi. Regardless, when you meet a person who actually endeavors to live as a Sikh, whether they are from a village or city in Punjab, London, or L.A., you will admire their powerful radiance for life. Looking forward to seeing more of your posts. I'm sure you will teach us through your questions and curious mind.

  17. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji KI Fateh Hai Ji Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji KI Fateh Hai Ji Bhang Aka Cannabis is used by Nihang SInghs as it is the Puratan (old) Maryada. Nihang Singhs arn't the only users, Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib Hazuri Sevadaar make Shaheedi Degh for the sangat 3 times a day everyday, as it is what occured at the times of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Shahanshah. Yes, only 5 Cannabis leafs are used, and there are no effects of the 'high' as scientists have prooved that Cannabis drank does not make the user 'High'. As Baba Nihal SIngh said above (Youtube link) that you can give the Degha (Shaheedi Degh) to a child, pregnant Bibi, elder etc. Bhang is also used by the Great Khalsa Fauj to keep their mind tuned in with the One, and to be a Warrior. It isn't mandatory but is made to uphold Pracheen (old) Nihang Singh/Singhni traditions. According to the Puratan Budha Dal Maryada of the Akhand Path of Adi - Dasam Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji on the Bhog day (last day of the Sri Akhand Path) The Jhatka (quick kill, chop etc) of Coconuts, Of a Bakra (goat) and the preperation of Sukhnidan (Treasure of Peace) is made as it all infuses Bir Ras. Shaheedi Degh also isn't just Bhang, it is a sort of Ayurvedic, as the ingreedients consist of almonds, cardamon pods (Lecheeya), black pepper, sugar etc. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji KI Fateh Hai Ji

  19. Dear _Guest_ as long as your business= investment/trading does not deal with: theft extortion drugs, alcohol, meat, prostitution, or any of its branches, and does not harm anyone, by word, thought and action, neither does it trespass the law of righteousness(dharma), neither do you cheat your customers, nor suck the blood of your workers, if any at all, you should not feel guilty at all, that is indeed honest living. Honesty has to do with consciousness in normal conditions .... though I am quite aware that sinners have no consciousness ... But from your talking and your attitude, I perceive ...... that you are honest. The motor behind anything immoral: is the focre of ego and greed combined together. Ego can not be eliminated so easily by us, but at least we should control greed, so that it may not ruin us. History has ample examples of these greedy people: like Ravan, like Hitler, like Duryodhan ...and an endless list of more such individuals... who inspite of acheving, name, fame, high status ....died like beasts.

  21. When you meditate, just listen to the Naam Gurmantar you are reciting or in case of Paath listen carefully to the Gurbani. If it is kirtan, recite it along with the kirtani to get maximum spiritual benefit. Meditation music without Gurbani is just distracting from the Asli tat.
