  1. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh After reading your comments 'With great sadness I wish to inform you'... that you never were a Sikh. A true Sikh faces whatever challenges Waheguru puts in their way and still stays in Chardi Kala. “Rehat Pyari Mujh Ko Sikh Pyara Nahi” The code of conduct is more lovely than the Sikh; “Rehni Rahe Soi Sikh Mera, O Thakur Me Uska Chera” One who is in discipline is my Sikh, then he’s my Master and I his disciple “Rehat Bina Nahi Sikh Akhawe Rehat Bina Dar Chotan Khawe” Without discipline none shall call you Sikh, Without Discipline one keeps on getting hurt; “Rehat Bina Sukh Kabhoon Naa Lahe, Taan Te Rehat Su Drid Kar Rahe” Without discipline we cannot be in peace, devoid of discipline the Lord makes you poor. ~ Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji

  2. Posted on Gurmatbibek. A good article I came across from sikh24.com. Sri Guru Sahib jee started this great tradition off many hundreds of years ago known as Guru-Kaa-Langar where all come to sit together. Why you should sit on the floor while eating Author: Pavitra Sampath In many Indian households you will find that people sit on the floor and eat their meals. While most of us have embraced the table and chair as a place to eat, there are those of us who prefer to sit in front of the TV and/or sit on the bed and eat. While this might be very comfortable, it might not necessarily be the best thing for your health. Our ancestors definitely had a plan when they made sure we sit on the floor, cross legged and ate our food. Here are 10 reasons going back to your roots is the best for your health. 1) Helps improve your digestion: When you sit on the floor, you usually sit cross legged – an aasan known as sukhaasan or a half padmasna which are poses that help in digestion (since it is believed that when one sits in this pose in front of food it automatically signals your brain to prepare for digestion). Apart from that when you eat from a plate placed on the floor, you will have to naturally bend forward slightly and go back to your starting position to swallow. This constant back and forth movement causes the muscles of your abdomen to be activated and also leads to increased secretion of stomach acids – making it much easier for you to digest food. 2) Helps you lose weight: Sitting on the floor and eating has significant weight loss benefits too. When you sit in this position, your brain automatically calms down and is better equipped to focusing on the food you eat. Moreover this position helps you cognate the amount of food you have eaten and helps you feel full faster. How does that work? Well, the main reason people overeat is because they do not know when they are full. This happens because the vagus nerve (the main nerve that transmits signals from the stomach to the brain) sends signals to the brain as you eat, telling it if you are satiated or not. When you sit on the floor this nerve is able to perform better and transmit signals more efficiently. Also, since this position makes you eat slower than you would while sitting on a table, it gives your stomach and brain time to cognate the signals of feeling full{2}, thereby preventing overeating and binging. 3) Makes you more flexible: When you squat or sit in padmasana, the muscles in your lower back, pelvis, around your stomach and those of the upper and lower abdomen stretch – reducing pain and discomfort. This, in turn helps your digestive system relax and stay in a normal position. Moreover, this position does not compress your stomach in anyway helping you eat and digest better. Moreover, the regular stretching of these essential muscles also helps make you more flexible and healthy. 4) Aids in mindful eating: When you sit on the floor and eat as a family it aids in mindful eating. Not only does it help you focus on your food, but it also helps you make better choices when you eat. Since your mind is calm and your body is ready to accept nutrition, sitting on the floor is the best way to eat the right amount and kinds of food. According to leading nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar, eating food while concentrating on every aspect of the food – its smell, taste, texture and how much you are eating is the key to losing weight – which is what sitting on the floor and eating gives you. 5) Helps you bond with your family: Usually the practice of sitting on the floor and eating is a family activity. This time is great for you to bond. One of the reasons sitting on the floor is better at helping you bond is because it leads to a calm and happy mind – helping you listen more intently and peacefully. 6) Improves your posture: Posture is very important when it comes to staying healthy. Good posture not only helps prevent injuries but it also reduces the chances of excessive strain on certain muscles and joints, which can lead to fatigue and quicker than normal wear and tear. When you sit on the floor your posture is automatically corrected, making your back straight, lengthening your spine and pushes back your shoulders – beating all the common aches and pains that come with bad posture. 7) Can make you live longer: Sounds a bit unbelievable right? Well, it’s true, sitting on the floor and eating can actually help you live longer. A study published in the Journal European Journal of Preventive Cardiology{2} found that people who sat on the floor in padmasana and were able to get up without any support were more likely to live longer. This is because being able to get up from that position takes a considerable amount of flexibility and lower body strength. The study found that those who were not able to get up without support were at the risk of being 6.5 times more likely to die in the next six years. 8) Lubricates and keeps your knees and hip joint healthy: According to PS Venkateshwara, author of the book Yoga for Healing {3}, padmasana and sukhasana is one pose that has health benefits for your entire body. Not only does it help your digestive system function better, but it also helps keep your joints supple, flexible and less prone to injuries and degenerative diseases like arthritis and osteoporosis. That is because the constant bending of the knees, ankles and hip joint helps keep them flexible and free of diseases. And with flexibility comes better lubrication between the joints making it much easier to sit on the floor. 9) Relaxes the mind and calms the nerves: Sukhaasan and padmasana or the cross legged way one sits on the floor while eating has a number of benefits, and one of its most significant ones is that it calms the mind and relaxes frazzled nerves. A very handy tool, it is believed in Ayurveda that eating with a calm mind helps better digestion and in some cases has even helped people relish food better. 10) Strengthens the heart by improving circulation: Have you ever noticed that when you eat, you tend to feel warmer and in some cases even sweat? Well, that is because when we eat our stomach needs all the energy it can use to digest food. One of digestion’s most important element is a sound blood circulation. To keep up with this process, your heart tends to work overtime to help out your digestive system. Here is where sitting on the floor and eating can help you out. When you sit on the floor your heart gets the benefits of circulation as the blood is easily pumped through the heart to all the organs needed for digestion. This is in contrast to the pattern of circulation when you sit on a dining table and chair, wherein the blood flows to the legs as they are lower than the heart. Therefore sitting on the floor and eating, affords you a healthy heart with strong muscles to help it cope with the pressures of daily life.

  4. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh 30 years ago, on 3rd June 1984, Indira Gandhi (a corrupt dictator of India who abused the rule of law) ordered the Indian army to conduct a Sikh Genocide and attack the most holiest Sikh Gurdwara (Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar also known as the Golden Temple) and up to 40 other Sikh Gurdwara's across the Punjab. Thousands of Sikhs, including women and children were murdered. An Indian army of 100,000 mobilized and deployed throughout Punjab with automatic weapons, tanks, artillery, helicopters and armoured vehicles against civilian Sikhs who were mainly farmers. The media was banned. The pretext to the Sikh genocide was that the army were seeking to arrest one man... The Akal Takht, the symbolic seat of supreme Sikh temporal authority was reduced to rubble. Gurdwara Darbar Sahib was damaged with over 300 tank shells and bullets. The Sikh Reference Library with precious hand written manuscripts of the Gurus was looted and then burned to the ground. The Akal Takht treasury Toshakhana with priceless historical artefacts of Maharaja Ranjit Singh was also looted and burned. Can you imagine the Italian army destroying the Vatican? or the Saudi's ordering an attack on Mecca? Some governments, including the UK, betrayed the Sikhs and supported the Indians against the Sikhs. The world's press supported unsubstantiated, false claims by Indian propaganda and dehumanized Sikh's (one of the eight stages of Genocide), calling them extremists/ militants. Are you taking part in one of the many organised marches across the world? If so, where? (New York, London, ?) Why did the world, including the UN, turn a blind eye? Do you think justice will ever be done? To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Sikh Genocide we have released a collection of 71 speeches by Baba Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and a set of speeches by Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra (who uncovered Sikh genocide with Indian Police involvement during the 1984-94 period). Both paid for their service to Sikhi by being murdered at the hands of the Indian state. http://www.discoversikhism.com/sikh_media/speeches_of_baba_jarnail_singh_bhindranwale.html http://www.discoversikhism.com/sikh_media/speeches_of_bhai_jaswant_singh_khalra.html If you have any more speeches of Baba Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra or anyone else, please let us know. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Sikh Genocide we have released pages with more information on Sikh Genocide and Sikh Freedom Movements. http://www.discoversikhism.com/sikhism/freedom.html http://www.discoversikhism.com/sikhism/ghallughara.html

  6. Speak to people in Pinds and unless their relatives reside in them, well known kirtanis do not touch poor villages as it no doubt impacts their bank balance and popularity. Usually they find themselves in foreign countries (to escape the hot summer months of India), where commonly wealthy locals ferry them round from one house to another. Committees and organisers in the West are as much to blame as they send free tickets and I'm sure other incentives - how else are they going to fill the Gurdwarey and golaks.

  8. why invite indian kirtanis to the Uk? what shortage of accomplished kirtanis is there in the UK? woudlnt it be better if indian kirtanis concentrated on Sikhs in india? Or even Pakistan? Have these famous kirtanis ever considered going to pakistan to do kirtan? IMO, orgs/people like kirtan seva uk should not invite them here in the first place.

I'd just to like to know from Bhai Sahib why now? I'm sure they have spoken against Punjab Sarkar in the past but dont have a recording. It was during a Sikhs in the City event in West London about 7 years ago.

  14. Interesting read: Hidden Wisdom If the anhad shabad is so ubiquitous (seeming to be everywhere), why have I never heard of it? The first and most obvious reason we have already touched upon. People are reluctant to discuss private conceptions which they do not consider part of everyone else's normal reality. The Anhad shabad is one of those personal events that many experience but few people speak of it. Other reasons why information about the anhad is so well hidden may surprise you. Even seasoned teachers of mystic practices are often not familiar with anhad techniques. Most, even if they are aware of the anhad presence, are not aware of its significance. Hidden from Plain Sight I once worked with a revered yoga teacher. Various ringing and buzzing noises plagued one of her students while practicing breathing meditations. The yoga teacher herself had experienced the same phenomenon. Eventually, she was referred to me. She was amazed that she was not familiar with nada yoga even after decades of in-depth yoga studies. I showed her a book Fundamentals of Yoga, which was already familiar to her. She was fascinated when I pointed to a discussion of the anhad. The true nature of the topic had not been previously apparent to her. She was even more impressed when she read through the passages with new awareness of the sound. The author cited the sound current, or nada, as the source of all manifestation and the undisputed pathway to enlightenment. Although this yoga teacher had read the book numerous times before, she had not realised the significance of the passages, or they referred to internally audible sounds. This is a classic example of how information about the anhad is hidden from plain sight. References in the literature are usually brief and obscure by design. An uninitiated reader can pass over these profound statements without realising what is being discussed. For someone who is not experienced, it is a most abstract topic. Even for those with personal experience, the literature usually hovers nearer to the realm of mystic poetry and rarely makes definitive statements. Often a passage seeks emotional or intuitive response rather than rational clarity, so the language can be highly symbolic. Knowledge Lives Modern students of esoteric practices realise that a great deal of guarded knowledge is now being widely disseminated. Even so, information about the anhad is still cloistered (separated from and communicating with the outside world). It has been such a deeply held secret for so long that it is having trouble find its way into the public consciousness. There are people who know a great deal about the anhad. Many individuals and spiritual schools are committed to its study, but this information is still not part of the public domain. Bear in mind those communities of spiritual seekers that have guarded their practices involving the anhad sounds consider the naad to be our most direct and intimate connection with the Source of Creation. It is considered the structuring force of the Cosmos, the most sacred of all issues. For some, its profound nature is reason enough to maintain privacy. For others, including myself, that is the very reason why the information should become public at this pivotal time in our evolution. Both arguments aside, secrecy has been consciously practiced. I see three motives why groups and individuals have done so. Power The anhad naad is considered by many to be the most potent force available to human beings. Greed Power corrupts, and many have sought to harness the sound for personal power over others. Karma Acquiring Karma during ones life IS an important issue in many eastern philosophies. Personal liability for ones actions regarding the omnipotent sound current has played a key role in the history of the naada schools. If the idea of your religion is to eradicate personal energy ties with the manifest world, then interacting with other peoples direct link to the Source of Creation is definitely not to be taken lightly. Because of the perceived serious nature of the naad by those who have studied it in the past, it has remained largely and occult activity. It has traditionally been taught in a devotional setting, through a student and master relationship, where it has been wrongly perceived that the guru bestowed the anhad on the student. Unconscious Secrecy The anhad naad has been guarded throughout human history just as all objects of power have been similarly guarded and coveted. There are, however other reasons why the information available is so inadequate. Some are unintentional. One reason for the deficiency of practical information lies in the methods and philosophies of eastern teaching, which until recently was the main source of information about the sound. In many eastern esoteric (very unusual and understood or liked by a small number of people, especially those with special knowledge) practices, there is a tremendous emphasis on emulating the teacher. Students learn through a kind of osmosis (the process of gradual or unconscious assimilation of ideas, knowledge, etc.), by emulating their instructors. Lessons are often transferred in a devotional setting, meaning the students devote themselves to the teacher. This ensures the absolute attention and dedication of the pupils. Devotional teaching formats forge a tremendous bond between student and master, allowing for very intense interactions. These methods also tend to circumvent skeptical review by the student so the student becomes dependent on the teacher. This can lead to stagnation in personal evolution and can be highly unsatisfying to the rational side of the students nature. I tell my students that they should only give total devotion their inner Self and highest Source. Their highest available guidance on a conscious level may come from a physical teacher, but that will not last long on a good spiritual path. Eventually, students become their own teachers. They establish a clear link between themselves and Source. Inner Silent Knowledge becomes their guide. This has certainly been my experience in my own practice of the anhad sound techniques.

  16. I tend to read on this forum from time to time & never bother much......but your post was 1 that I felt replying to from my heart. Neither will I try to be "preachy", let's take whatever I have written below as a heart to heart talk...ok? :glomp: I was born into a Sikh household. Did I like reading bani from day 1? NO Did I like reading gurbani as a kid? NO Did I enjoy learning the gurmukhi in classes? NO :blush2: Yea, I did believe something called God..... So I understand....your frustration. Deep down I hardly had any spiritual sense of anything. But, as time passed into my teens, I wondered on the purpose of life and so on. I studied many religions, Islam, Christianity, and so on..... Majority faiths laid claim, "We are the truth". But, Gurbani said something else... ਸਰਬ ਧਰਮ ਮਹਿ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟ ਧਰਮੁ ॥ Of all religions, the best religion ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕਰਮੁ ॥ is to chant the NAAM and maintain pure conduct. NAAM is the essence of Gurbani, every line and ang/page of SGGS. Gurbani teaches us what Naam is, how to LOVE, how to have faith, how to obey, how to become pleasing to Vaheguroo(God).......Gurbani is about how to obtain Naam! So you may ask at this stage of my life, why do I think Gurbani is special? This is my personal observation. Ever since I started reading Gurbani with Faith and Love, I have noticed I never get bored of hearing it over and over again. I get bored if I am read the same article over and over again. I get bored reading the same book over and over again. I can testify to you I dont get bored reading, listening and singing to Gurbani after so many years in my life. I concluded there has to be something VERY SPECIAL about Gurbani ,for me to keep on having faith in it. Whenever my heart is restless/sad, reading and hearing gurbani, has the ability to calm me down ....and rejuvenate me immensely. The Sound of Gur-Bani(Guru's Voice) is the sound of the creator of the universe itself....it must be. Because no therapy, articles or peoples wise words do ...what Gurbani does for me. ---------------------------------------------- Many are going to tell you to do many things.... But what do I do when I am in doubt? Stand in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee's presence and do an ardass(plea) from the bottom of your heart humbly.... 1.Ask him to guide you, ask him teach you how to have faith and love in him. Ask him for dhian(concentration) in Gurbani. Any plea from the bottom of ones heart before Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji never goes empty. 2. Ask him to bless you with the company of gursikhs with whom Guru Sahib is happy with. (at the same time beware of Deravaad cults/fake saints...) If you are a genuine seeker then no force in the universe can stop you from your ultimate spiritual destination.

  19. In all fairness, above sikh khalsa shaheeds were poran bhramgyanis- bedah mukht/turiya avastha wale so excepting all sikhs (learners) to be like them is not fair as faith bulding, tests, adapting santokh virtues, avastha building takes time, its sehaj spiritual development process of one's sikhi. I think if most of us walk in his shoes or overall victim shoes and go through real test of faith then very few handful-extremely fortunate ones will survive full kusati of sikhi. Thats why we ask maharaj to keep bless us with santokh and daulan tu bachayo maharaj . Every single breath is a test for a sikh, ever single moment is a test for sikh to wake up from advidya(maya/ignorance) or keep sleeping endless sleep of avidya-ignorance/maya. Sometimes sikh pass and sometimes sikh fail , its ok its slowly spiritual development process- acknowledge shortcoming, learn from it and move on. We need to acknowledge, It isn't easy to apply the teachings of sikhi fully one literally has to die before one phsyically die- satguru angad dev ji, satguru amar das maharaj went through rigirous test to show test of faith/love, baba farid took out his full eye out for test of his murshid give it, panj pyares gave full five heads not just phsycially but gave their tan and surrender their mind - kam, krodh, lob, moh, ahankar and in return they got amrit immortality. So i don't think we should undermine what he went through but instead do ardas for him, apply some sort of compassion what he went through try to walk a mile in his shoes and we should look at overall issues to handle this problem affecting the sikh community, its not a strech to say punjabi sikh community overall is suffering from serious issues like ostracization, defamation, vilification, stigmatization, ghetto ism, segregation, exclusiveness, self entitled, self absorbed, self righteous with ego/fake pride, parnioaism within the community so much so it will probably require teachers in school to register - humantarian/egalitarianism course for punjabi community if community or 2nd/3rd generation kids don't adapt normal humantarian/egalitarian values , sri akaal ustat gurbani pristine values- see sikhi from humantarian/egalitarianism- sri akaal ustat eyes than from tribal eyes and I m not being racist as i am punjabi as well with jatt last name (not that it matters) I just happen to extremely lucky with sangat of many mahapursh to see thing as is from eagle eyes with 360 degree world view perception. To make it simple, the issue is many sikhs who have taken amrit they bring their punjabi samosa tribal community poltics with them and have super imposed themselves on sikh dharma. instead of adapting gurmat virtues - sat-truth-honesty/integrity, santokh, dya, dharam, advait, ek dristhi etc.

  22. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Some general advice after having spent nearly 6-8 years of my life at restaurants (college and when I began work) - watch how they cook food at ANY restaurant/establishment. Heck, watch the cooking shows like Chef Ramsey and things - self tasting by chefs and using the same spoon back in the pot, sneezing on the food, "vegetarian" food cooked on the same oil/pots/pans as the meat stuff and a much more. Kinda turns you off when you see it...

  23. According to my understanding and research i may be wrong, hirda also refers to our center being not particular place in the body but our atam jot saroop- awareness/hirda parkash (would be awakened light/awareness) hirda or hirda parkash from which everything rises or subsides even in the sleep. If one fully questions who is experiencing/witnessing the sleep-dreams on the surface it would be I-ego but after deep contemplation one automatically lead to conclusion eventually not conceptually but in expereince its the awareness experiencing itself. When we wake up- ego kicks in and claims its fully I duality expereinced the sleep Overall, i think in gurbani -awareness or center being our jot saroop is also explained metaphorically as hirda or hirda parkash (once our surti/intuition has died in pure awareness fully)

  24. See I don't feel that somebody is a Sikh unless they make a conscious effort to accept Sikhi to some degree... I don't think being born into Sikhi cuts it, it's like being born into a family of accountants and claiming to be an accountant. A real Sikh should marry another Sikh, of course. Too be honest jee this I'm coming from my experience as an ex-Punjabi non-Sikh girl who didn't know anything about Sikhi, I can totally understand the mindset of the girls you criticise and I can see how unfair it is to do so.

  25. At some point during the last century, humans have decided that in order to be happy, we have to work our off not because we need to provide for our families, but because we need to buy the best newest stuff. The newest phone, the newest car, the biggest house etc.. Lately, a German intern died after 72 hours of no sleep because he's working at an investment bank and is willing to sacrifice what it takes, even his life, so that he secures his 'future' of endless stream of buying stuff that will define who he is. That's basically our lives nowadays, we work not because we need to fulfill a certain adequate of standard of living for those we care about, we work so that we buy stuff and spend what we earn on going to fancy restaurants and clubs. And the problem is the buying never stops, you will keep spending your money on stuff that will in the end consume you instead of you consuming them Farida Roti meri kaath kee , laavan meri bukh jere Khange chopriya , ghane sehenge dukh ... You can say that each person lives his own life, and I can't say that's wrong for a person to work all day just so that he buys the newest car, but the problem with this hyper-consumption is that if it's sustained, it will be the end of humanity. Imagine if all the Indians and the Chinese (and not just a small subsection of them) can afford to live the same lifestyle the Westerners do. Also, just look at pictures of Beijing and Shanghai, see the blinding fogs they have there. It's not because of THEIR aggressive manufacturing it's because of OUR aggressive consumption. Nobody stops to think that his designer clothes is made by the hands of small children working in the most dangerous environments that significantly contribute to the world's pollution levels. That's the biggest threat to humanity as a whole and to us as individuals. We forgot about human happiness, instead we are willing to work half our day so that we can make payments to our houses and cars and when you finish paying you realize you're a disease-ridden old man and that your life is already over. And I am not saying I am not implicated in this or I won't be even more implicated in the future, I am just complaining that we have become passive consumerists

  27. The problem is when someone converts they often do so due to some external element which they feel can be alleviated by changes faiths. Of course they can also be open to a re-conversion to their original faith. But a much bigger problem is this attitude where some individuals cry out loud 'oh well we don't need people like you anyway' to converts. In their mentality it seals any prominence which they perceived in their previous faith. The second thing is it is not the amount of prachar which is lacking, but the amount of understanding orbiting the Sikh ethos. Often the view that 'Sikhs believe all faiths lead to God or liberation' is blasted around so many times that even Sikhs start questioning the need for their own faith, and prachar if the next faith also leads to God.

  28. Thanks for the katha. Brother, please clear what you mean by this above*? HarMandir does not simply mean Hindu Temple. The link to the Baba ji 's Katha tell about sri Harmandir Sahib ji (in Darbar Sahib complex; Patna Sahib Takhat is also known as Harmandir Sahib) but is not where Kalki avtar ( to come at the end of KalYug - after 400,000 yrs) will get pargat because he not Parmeshar but an avtar of Vishnu as I explained earlier. Yes, our body is also a 'mandir' or temple. 'The' Nehklank Avtar who will get pargat soon for liberating the earth from all paap (Kalyug is yet only 5125 yrs old) is not Vishnu Avtar as all may assume but a 'Guru roop' Khalsa. 14,000 years Satyug will commence after that and then again Kalyug will prevail..

  30. These so-called Sikhs who convert- were they really Sikh to begin with? A true Sikh who realises the essence of Gurbani would never leave Sikhi and adopt another faith.

  31. All the Abrahamic faiths including Hinduism, which is getting the Abrahamic tint, are hell bent on purporting their own singular view. Talk about drab communism.

  32. Very true, many times we are put on test to see if we will falter from the path of Guru Jee. Those Gurmukhs who remain steadfast will have the Kirpa of Guru Jee while those become Bemukh dont. Puraatan Sikhs went through the worst of hardships, turture, yet their faith in their Guru was unshakable, while today we Sikhs don't even have 1% of the hardships of puraatan Sikhs, yet we falter so easily. Sikhs need to start trusting their Guru again. Gurbani has all the answers if only we do khoj of It.

  34. These are tactics to trap more people of Sikh backgrounds with their propaganda. In Punjab, Sikh converts to Christianity keep their names and also appearence. You will find photos of a Nihang praying to Jesus by the way. Secondly they use religious terminology of that particular religion for their own Christian things to fool the masses. They use the words 'satsang(at)' for congregation, Satguru for Jesus and other things to fool Sikhs. This is a real threat to Sikhi as especially the so called downtrodden Sikhs are prone to being converted because discrimination based on caste is still rampant in rural Punjab. Check the case of Tarn Taran (one of the few Sikh strongholds in Punjab) where 43 Sikhs converted to Christianity. Their numbers have tripled in a decade in Punjab.

  35. Like Jonny Veerji said it's a ploy to fool other Sikhs ... but in certain cases the fraudsters deliberately want that that the converts discard their Kes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55Cuc1i4rww

  36. A lot of people like this are encouraged to retain their former religious appearance in order to trick and deceive their people. They do this with the Jewish faith too, where Christian missionaries will dress up as religious looking Jews (black clothing, long beard) in order to infiltrate and convert more Jews into Christianity. This is the same tactic this guy is using. From his looks no one from the Sikh community can tell he is a former Sikh and now fully Christian. He looks like a religious Sikh and most Punjabi people have respect and trust for people that look like this. This guy will then take advantage of their trust and respect for his looks and start to brainwash them about Christianity. In India, they do the same thing with Hindus, where these Christian missionaries will use typically Hindu religious vocabulary to trick and deceive their intended audience. Sikhs need to be aware of such people.

  37. I can't believe this is still on going..alas(kash) if same energy or passion could be spent on contemplating on naam/simran transcending through energies within body/self enquiry than simply discussing semantics over this..we all could get somewhere...!!

  38. That one single line is supported by last line I have searched skies and have not found any one like Lord. If you have Lord with you you don't need yoga, but his hukam to get liberated. And first line is simple my dear I have not used yoga techniques to control mind. I can't help. Thanks for your warning.

  39. After listening to katha of Suraj Prakash Granth by Kavi Santokh Singh ji, few bachans of Sant Ishar Singh ji rara sahib, and katha of Giani Thakur Singh ji --> my understanding is that Mata Ajeet Kaur Ji/ Mata Jeeta ji used to do yoga abhyas ? If yoga is condemned why did she use to do it, maybe its a lie or maybe I misunderstood. I also understand that hatha yoga is not recommended in Kalyug age ( bachans of Sant Isher Singh ji rara sahib). So maybe in the end , it all depends on the avastha "mental state" of the abhyasi/jagyasu? If yoga is condemned, how come meditators/Naam Abhyasis sit with a straight back or sit in padmasana etc, doesnt that fall under yoga too ( the maintenance of certain postures) ? just looking for some clarifications and moreover at any given time, we only have one dominant breath , left or right . how do we stop that because thats also under yoga ? you see what i am saying ? I think where we go wrong is when we are too focused on certain outer/physical restraints. The main focus for us is the Gurmantar given by the panj pyare, once can recite it in any way they like, if people like to "savdhan ekagar cheet", physical postures might help. There are many tools given , just need to utilize them as aids towards our main goal.
