  1. Just heard his excuse. Said he didn't know where he was going. Didn't know who he was seeing. Didn't know who autotush was. Once there, didn't know how to use his legs and walk away. Didn't know how not to bow at the feet of someone he's just been put in front of. Lets just hope nobody ever places a gun in Bhai Balbir Singh's hands and drives hime anyway near a school. I'm pretty sure he will not know how not to shoot some children dead.

  2. Haha, no. Well not to my face at least, lol. But once when I was at school (I think I must've been about 12) on the way home me and my friends use to stop off at a park and play football on warm days. One time an old Singh was walking past, and one of my white friends says, "£5 to anyone who can knock off his turban with the ball." He realised what he'd said when everyone starting whistling through their teeth and looking at me, lol. Now, back then I was a quiet, rather unassuming little lad, lol, but even at that age I realised how pivotal a moment it was. I either keep my head down and pretend I never heard him say it (and then, maybe, he gets bolder in the future and turns his attention to me), or I speak up and make it clear what he said was out of order. So, I said, "You can kick his turban off if I can kick your f-----g head in." That was rather uncharacteristic of me at the time! But, yeah, he apologised, and that was that. Sometimes you've got to make a stand, no matter how inconsequential it may seem at the time. He realised i wasnt defending the Singh per se, but rather the identity that he saw fit to disparage so easily.

  3. You have a very little brain Quantivius. I tell you that it is only Jews that make Jewish jokes (as self-effacing humour is one of their trademark survival instincts) and you try and counter that statement by providing me with a list of Jewish comedians making jewish jokes :biggrin2: Are you for real ? Seriously now, the very simple thing that you don't understand is that it is OK for example, for Dermot Moran to make Irish jokes because he is part of that culture but it is not OK for Michael McIntyre to do so because if he did it would originate from a perpective of racism, history of colonialism and hurtful hate. It is OK, for example, for Dave Chappele to make very funny jokes about blacks because he is black. But it is not OK for a white comedian to say the same things because it would come fom a perspective of racism, history and hurtful hate. In exactly the same way it is not OK for the people that deny our existence, deny our freedom, routinely go on genocidal massacre sprees against us, arrest at will, torture us at will, hang us at will...to make us the target for their 'jokes'.....i.e their 'national joke'. The fact that you cannot understand this makes me feel very very sorry for you.

  4. I touched a nerve. I'm a "pendu", "loser" and a liar, etc. Yet I was nothing but cordial in my original post. Fair enough. I know where I'm coming from, but you refuse to concede there may be another side of the argument, even if you've never personally had experience of it. I suppose I'm a liar because it annoys you that someone like me can have a white social circle growing up, but still not have my head firmly stuck in their collective behinds that I'm afraid of calling them out when they're wrong. Grow a spine, my friend. You'll feel much better for it, I promise you.

  5. I feel exactly the same way. It isn't that I find white people to be better people over all, they just won't start despising you if your opinions of certain Sikh issues are a little unorthodox. I've always had trouble connecting with Amritdhari Sikhs, those of my immediate experience were very cliquey and conformity-enforcing.

  6. This is very true, I have never been able to get along with punjabis even if they are westernised. There is such a lack of compassion and moral thinking. I get along far better with east asians (particularly japanese and sth koreans) as they are the only people I've met to be gentle and sweet-natured.

  7. Sad but true. Traditional Punjabi wedding is only in the past. Now they try to recreate a carefully choreographed Bollywood wedding. They marry a Muslim thinking he's Salman Khan and she is his heroen. Can't help but knod my head everytime I see these weddings. This Bollywood wedding bimaari has infected Sikhs all over the west. Sikhs in India have not been so inspired by this yet. But seeing as how Indian Sikhs like to copy NRIs its just a matter of time before this Bimaari reaches India.

  8. Aha....maybe that's why we're not on the same page. I don't know much about Indian politics and the details of the animosity between Hindus and Sikhs so maybe that's why I didn't get the 'connotation' of those Santa Banta jokes? I agree, I know what you mean. It also depends who says tells the jokes. As for the rag head, I'd tell the guy to cut it out. I'm not the type to get violent or start swearing and all. I'm kinda weird. I can take insults and even emotional outbursts but I absolutely detest deceit. I had a guy tell me that 'my kind' are called 'sand nixxers'. I told him that Jesus was sure as hell not white and probably one too. We later became good friends and use to hang out together. I had a colleague at work who at every chance would make fun of me, especially in front of the women. Everything I did was funny to him. The way I walked, talked, ate.....you name it, he had a quip or something funny to say. I started avoiding him at every turn. Anyway, after a while I asked myself, why am I feeling bad when being fun off? Maybe it's my ego? Pride? Maybe this is what our Gurus would want us to do? To be humble? Maybe this is my cross to bear? So I changed my behavior. The next time around, when he made fun of me, I would laugh with him and even joined him making fun of me. I actually felt better and his stupid jokes did not have the 'sting' that was intended. IMHO words are just words and will only have power if you give it. I also believe people who make fun of you actually secretly despise you. OTOH I agree with you, it also depends who tells the jokes and some jokes are simply unacceptable. Just my 2 cents.

  9. I wish it wasn't the case personally speaking. But there comes a moment in a person's life when, for the sake of self preservation, a line has to be drawn. I don't have the luxury of hoping people change and prove me wrong. I won't live my life as a social experiment, clinging to the faint dream of others reforming themselves. It may seem like a harsh way to approach life but it works for me. Yep, I feel the same way about the religious Sikhs I've encountered, but then I also share the same reservations and dislike for the unapologetically immoral westernised Panjabis who coast through life on a crest of arrogance and debauchery, ashamed of their heritage and their religion, trying so very hard to scrub the brown out of their psyche, lol.

  10. People are quick to take offense in recent years, and, yes, there is a stifling sense of political correctness that has pervaded everyday life, where some people, be they certain feminists or ethnics who are perhaps always on the look out for someone to castigate, and they shout the loudest about issues that are occasionally blown out of all proportion. However, there are many on the other side of the fence who shout about, "it's political correctness gone mad!" and the kind of thing you've said above, y'know, that kind of, "I want to air my dodgy views, but I don't really have the balls to say anything outright offensive, so I'll just keep simmering away on the sidelines here, coating my offensive opinions with a passive veneer of acceptability, and grumble about how society is full overly sensitive people." Maybe I'm doing you a disservice, in which case I apologise. You say you're a Sikh, although you reject the need to keep the visual vestments of the faith, and that's your prerogative, but the fact that you feel little to no loyalty for an identity that you don't personally possess (or, I think, empathise as to the reasons behind why others of your ethnic / cultural background do have that particular identity), and yet there's no stirring of emotions or feelings of annoyance when certain groups of people go out of their way to offend and belittle Sikhs. You give people an inch and next time they'll take a mile. Now it's mocking sardars, then they'll graduate to making our Gurus the butt of jokes. But then I suppose you'll say, "There's lots of Jesus jokes, who cares?" A harsh word or two is needed. Don't go all Charlie Hebdo on their butt, but there's nothing wrong with putting someone with a loose tongue in their place. Innocent blood has been spilled throughout our history for us to have our identity. You may not think it's important or necessary, but others do. The Irish, the Native Americans, etc, are probably so brow-beaten and terrified of being labeled as being riddled with political correctness by those who share your opinions that they've given up trying to defend themselves from slurs, but the day Sikhs start taking sardar jokes on the chin, shrugging their shoulders and pretending it's no big deal will be a day we've lost all ankh and mettle as a collective. Go to Compton in L.A. and walk up to a group of black guys and say, "I hear your kind are lazy criminals. How's that working out for you?" Somehow I don't reckon you'll want to hang around long enough to tell them they're over-sensitive PC wimps when they're chasing you, lol. The white man don't love you, boy! You'll always be the "other" to him. When you denigrate your own people or stand by silent as a mouse when he does it himself, he's losing respect for you by the second. He thinks your weak and cowardly when you refuse to speak up. That's no way to live. BTW, I've grown up with white people. My friends throughout my life have been white. The only people who've brought me pain and misery in my entire life are other Sikhs. I keep my distance from other Sikhs; I'm afraid I just don't get on with them, or have anything in common with the Panjabi mentality and approach to life, be they the hardcore pendu types or the white-washed westernised coconuts. That doesn't mean I hate my identity. I can separate the Sikhs from the Sikhi. What's right is right.

  11. Dear gsingh12345, thanks a lot for sharing this lovely sweet voice of Bhai Veer Singh Lucknow Wale, which till today I never came through. And believe me, I have loads of CDS of Gurbani with the best voices in Ragis, and I still continue looking forward with such voices, I just get melt when I listen Gurbani, which I just adore, in the voices of such fantastic keertanees. Thank you jee.

  12. Excellent point. Puratan Singhs were not just about fighting with swords and spears. They had incorporated guns, pistols, cannons, and even modern weaponry like howitzer artillery etc. THIS is how they became from guerilla fighters to a modern conventional army rivaling European armies of the time. Singhs today should learn modern combat arts and incorporate that into their puratan martial arts.

  13. Why isn't firearms training part of Shastar Vidhiya ? If a war breaks out we shouldn't be throwing spears at tanks. The reason we have been massacred many times is that we choose to use older weaponry and techniques instead. Sant Jarnail singh and 200 Singhs used old WWII rifles. Imagine if Kharkus had same light arms as the Indian Army. It would have changed the course of history.

  14. I think your parents are the only two people that can best answer your question. People on this forum are very helpful, they will answer your question, no doubt about it but, their answers will not have any impact on you. Why? The answer is very simple. We listen to those that we love, respect and know especially when they happen to be our parents. Strangers don't have the same impact on us as our parents or loved ones do. You claim you are aware of the history between religions then why are you so 'baffled' at your parents decision not to accept this muslim man? What does this mean? Does it mean you haven't learned any lessons from our history? Which 'few rotten apples' are you referring to? What 'bunch' are they spoiling? I am not entirely sure what is it that you are referring to. If you knew the sikh history as you claim you do, you would have soon learned that our glorious history is much larger than few rotten apples and a bunch they are meant to be spoiling! Our history is very unique and powerful and to express it in terms of few rotten apples and a bunch is absolutely sacrilegious! There is no history in this world that can equal the sikh history. Believe you me our sikh history has got nothing to do with few 'rotten apples,' or a 'bunch' and to see it being expressed in this way is hurting me so much that I am literally in tears now. Please read the SGGS, the Dasam Patshah ji's Bani, about Mahaan Baba Deep Singh Ji. Find out about Dasam Pita's sacrifices for us so we can call ourselves sikhs today. We are heavily indebted to our Deshmesh Pita for all the sacrifices that have been made for us. Do you know why our Deshmesh Pita ji is known as 'Sarbans Daani?' There is no way we can ever repay Him. If you are lucky you will soon learn that our history is more than just 'few rotten apples' and a 'bunch' they are suppose to be spoiling. There is simply no comparison. I am not sure if you are a sikh. In my view, it is arrogant to call oneself a sikh when you don't even know your history which is replete with painful martydoms, imprisonment and sacrifices throughout, starting with the first Guru to the tenth!! Besides knowing our history it is also imperative to learn lessons from it!

  15. PLEASE READ THE BELOW CAREFULLY AND WITH OPEN EYES AND MIND. Did Guru Gobind Singh worship Devi? One thing which needs to be cleared up is that fact that our Guru is Satguru Guru Granth Sahib ji. Sikhi Panth was started by Aad Guru Nanak Dev Sahib ji and all other Gurus preached and propagated words of Satguru Nanak. Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj, being tenth Master of Sikhs and Nanak Saroop said and did what Guru Nanak Dev ji said in His Baani. There is no way there can be a difference in Ideology of Ten Gurus as they are One Light, One Jot. Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj is Our Haazar Naazar Satguru and Dasam Granth Sahib is Baani of Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj. Anything written in ANY Historical Granth attributed to Gurus, which goes against principles of Ten Gurus and Guru Granth Sahib ji cannot be taken at Face value and should be seen as an attempt to pollute Pure Gursikhi Maarag of Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj. If there are certain incidents and words which have been ascribed to Gurus but are against Sikhi principles enshrined in Guru Granth Sahib ji, then those incidents and words need either deep vichaar in vidwaans or need to be ignored as ‘mix-up’ by Anti-Gursikhi forces. This is the only way Purity and Sanctity of Puratan Maryada can be preserved. Neo-Vidwaans (Nangs who preach Worship of Hindu Gods and Goddesses) and Detractors of Puratan Maryada (missionaries etc.) need to do vichaar on contentious topics in light of Baani of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Dasam Patshah Maharaj. Question :-Did Guru ji take blessings of Goddess Durga to create Khalsa Panth? Answer :- No Reason - Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj was sent on this Planet by Akaal Purakh Waheguru Himself to create Khalsa Panth , The Path of Pure (or Brotherhood of Pure). When Akaal Purakh blessed Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj with title of His Son and sent him to this Maat Lok ( Earth), Waheguru ji said – ਚੌਪਈ ॥ 29॥ Following Akal Purakh’s command, Guru Gobind Singh ji bowed before Waheguru and said - ਦੋਹਰਾ ਠਾਢ ਭਯੋ ਮੈ ਜੋਰਿ ਕਰ ਬਚਨ ਕਹਾ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਆਇ ॥ 30॥ So the Hukam and Blessings for creating Khalsa Panth was already given by Akaal Purakh Waheguru, therefore there was no need for Maharaj to ask for any boon from anyone else. That is the reason Maharaj gave us the slogan ‘’Waheguru ji ka Khalsa , Waheguru ji ki Fateh ‘’ and not ‘Durga ji ka Khalsa’’! Question :- Did Guru Gobind Singh ji ever worship Durga Devi or any other Hindu God/Goddess? Answer:- No. Reason :- Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj, in his pavittar Baani of Sri Dasam Guru Granth Sahib has time and again explained and declared that – ਦੋਹਿਰਾ ॥ May I not forsake You and may I not meditate on anyone else except You. May I obtain from You, whatever gifts I want. 33॥ Whatever I heard from the Lord of the world, I speak the same words. I shall not suppress the divine truth for fear of mortal men.(33) ਨਰਾਜ ਛੰਦ ॥ 40॥ ji These words of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj clearly define Faith and Loyalty of Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj, which is for ONE Akaal Purakh Waheguru and NO one else. Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj was Tenth Nanak and there is NO way Dasam Nanak would go against Sidhant of ‘Ik Oankaar’ and worship false Devis and Devtas whose worship has been clearly denounced in Baani of Guru Granth Sahib ji and Sri Dasam Granth Sahib. Saakhi of Havan and Devi Pargat – Guru Gobind Singh ji maharaj, before creation of Khalsa Panth tested Brahmins, Jogis and Masands at Sri Anandpur Sahib. In Itihaas, it is stated that Maharaj tested Brahmins twice and Masands thrice. Jogis were tested once and rejected as fake. First test was done at Parbat of Naina Devi where a Havan was held by Pandits (led by Kesho Daas or Devi Daas or Kaalka Daas, as names are different in all texts). Pandits had asked Maharaj to hold a Havan as that would make Devi Durga appear and bless Maharaj with Shakti from to destroy Mughals from this planet. Guru ji understood the slave mentality of Pandits and to expose them, agreed to hold the Havan. Nine Months passed but NO Devi appeared. At last Guru ji asked the Mukhi Pandit the reason for Devi not appearing, to which pandit replied that Devi needs blood of a Holy Being, probably your Eldest Son Baba Ajit Singh and then she would appear.( Pandit said these words thinking that Guruji would refuse giving his Son’s life and we will put the blame for Devi not appearing on Guruji) But Dasam Patshah smiled and replied, Pandit ji, tell me, who is more Holy and Pious than you? Lets give your Bali (sacrifice ) to Devi and when she appears, first thing I’ll ask her would be to revive you, give your life back. Pandit shivered with fear and started fumbling. Next minute he said to Maharaj ,’ I need to go for nature’s call and then I’ll return after Bath’’. Guruji let him go. Pandit ji and his Chele ran away from the Havan spot and never returned. When they didn’t return after some time, Guruji understood that Pandits have run away. Guruji ordered Singhs present to put all the Havan Samgari( Material used for Havan like Ghee, Woods, chandan kapoor etc.) into Havan Fire altogether. Singhs did this and a Large Flame of Fire rose from Havan Kund( due to all Samagri being thrown in fire at once). Guruji, in his Bir-Ras Form stood near the Fire and took out His Sword (which was called Sri Sahib) and rose it. People came running seeing the flame and asked Guruji, Maharaj, Has the Devi appeared? Guruji replied in Bir-Ras, Yes, and looking at his sword said ‘’ This is the Chandi , This is real Durga which vanquishes enemies in battlefield, this is the Kaalka which drinks blood of enemies and destroys them. This is the Bhagauti which protects Dharam and destroys evil’’. Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj understood the slave and weak mentality of Brahmins and Hindus as whole and knew that from last 800 years, Hindus have been waiting for some Devi-Devta to appear and fight for them. But Maharaj knew that to attain freedom, to get Justice, to create Raaj of Dharam, Warriors have to fight in battlefields, blood has to be shed and Warriors have to undergo Pain and suffering and only then can freedom be achieved. Until common man does not takes up arms and fights for his rights and freedom in battlefield, NO Freedom can be achieved. Therefore Guruji rejected Hindu idea of Devi Pargat and declared His Kirpaan, The Sword as Supreme Devi (Sri Sahib) which would bring Victory. This Saakhi has been given in this form in these Granths - Tawarikh Guru Khalsa- Giani Gian Singh ji Kalgidhar Chamatkaar –Bhai Vir Singh ji Mahaan Kosh – Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha ( In all other Historical texts, only thing which is common is the fact that havan was done, but later story of Durga appearing and giving some Boon to Maharaj is entirely different. Some writers have said that Guruji fainted seeing Chandi , others say He closed his eyes, some say they cannot confirm IF Devi appeared but have written it as they heard from someone. So this fact itself proves that Devi didn’t appear but Havan was organized. Second thing which has to be kept in Mind is that texts written 45 years within Guru Gobind Singh ji went to sachkhand like Sri Gur Sobha and Vaar Sri Bhagauti ki(Bhai Gurdas Singh) DO NOT mention Devi Pargat incident, but which were written after 1753AD start the trend, in different ways although. This led to Saakhi of Guru ji cutting Goats during Vaisakhi of 1699 which later turned into Nang tradition of Chatka, Chandi Pooja and Shastar Tilak, which is in itself a Shaktik Hindu concept and Ritual and has got nothing to do with Sikh Spiritualism). Gursikhs, taking inspiration from Baani of Aad Gurus and Dasam Guruji took up arms and fought a bloody war of 70 years and at last, freed Punjab and whole of North India from clutches of foreign invaders. If they also had waited for Chandi or Durga to appear like Hindus were waiting, India would have still been a Slave of Muslims. Some quotes from Aad Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj regarding worship of Devis and Devtas. 2॥ The source, the root, of the gods and goddesses is Maya. 16. Sat Sri Akal, I was born in California, USA, my father came to the states when he was 4, and my mother came when she was married at 17 (she was a city girl from india). My parents aren't too religious, but we do love God, and everyone around us. My question is why do Sikh families care if their children marry Muslims? My brother and I grew up dating whoever we wanted as long as they were respectful and kind. I am now in my mid 20's and I have an interest in a Muslim man.. But my parents say that they can't accept him. I'm baffled as to why that is, since they don't have an issue with any other religion. I am aware of the history between the religions, but why let a few rotten apples spoil the bunch? I won't continue dating him if it will give me trouble, but I'm wondering why is it that we're told to love everybody but are prejudice? Thank you in advance for your kind, and considerate responses as this is my first time, Parminder G.

  17. What Bhagat Puran Singh is getting at is low avasta Sikhs such as myself getting hot headed and trying to save Sikhi in our own ego. His quote has multi dimentional meaning and you should re read it while understanding it doesnt condone being a pacifist who doesnt take action. There you go again with your assumptions. What would he get out of backstabbing Sikhs? How is he a Baba? Please explain his intentions and why he would want to do this? If he were receiving money was it a one time thing just for the video or is he on a periodic payroll? If he is on a periodic payroll what is his long term objective? Curious how this RSS agent has infiltrated. Please share your wisdom

  18. Not sure what faith you're talking about but Sikhi will never be hurt. Quote from Bhagat Puran Singh Ji says it best,"Stop these mockeries. Do not be so anxious to save Sikhi. Rest assured Sikhi will take care of itself, your only concern should be to save yourself." Also I said limitless beauty of Guru Sahib what is wrong in that? Sikhi isn't an Abrahamic faith like Islam Christianity or Judaism where if someone does something wrong they are eternally condemned without exception. If someone asks for forgiveness you are absolutely no one to cast doubt on their sincerity unless there is clear evidence to show that they are being malicious and unsincere. This incident that occ7reed could have been targeted to get him to go there in hopes to get footage or simply very very very poor decision making and observation skills. Keep in mind he is in Punjab and not UK or USA where it's easier to distingish social situations, there are so many Hindu folk and non Sikhs in Punjab, it is reasonable to assume his red flag didn't go off at the time for the situation as it would haven for most people. Neither of us have enough information to make informed enough decisions so go to your fridge and get a cold glass of water and chill. It's quite ironic that I pointed out paranoia and you go to say I'm receiving a check from Raagi Balnir Singh lol. My only connection is I love his kirtan but I don't idolize anyone nor put anyone on a pedestal so I was able to acknowledge the fact that he could have been paid to go there but with the latest statement I wouldn rather take his word for it until evidence surfaces that says otherwise. Such evidence hasn't surfaced and thus I wont take the mentality of a nindak to deliberately put negativity into someone else,s mouth.

  19. Before going on a witch hunt it would be wise to play a mental game of devils advocate and consider opposing views. What he says could very well be true and if so it means he was just being respectful. Rss also know that we have a very strong paranoia and are quick to make decisions rather than analyse situations and be more understanding. Sikhs make mistakes and the limitless beauty of Guru Sahib is that GuruJi forgives.

  20. Don't worry Jigayasu penji, relax, you have said nothing wrong. And listen to some relaxing shabads. Everything will be ok, leave your worries to God and you just follow Gurbani. The rest of your questions Harsharan ji may answer, as it's too much for me to reply to Sorryji, try to stay in hukam. http://youtu.be/zSASouF4jyg http://youtu.be/HBOXmjJZWiI PS: it would be a good idea if you make an account and post the questions in separate topics, as it's confusing this way.

  23. Depends on the context and the intent. I.E. in an old BBC comedy show called Goodness Gracious Me there was a running joke about how Panjabi men would rather pave over their front lawn than mow the grass. That's amusing because we know of quite a few individuals in our community who did take that approach to gardening back in the day, lol. What I've just described above and the insidious insinuations behind sardar jokes are incomparable, taking into account the history of the people making those "jokes" as well as the unsaid religious connotations of sardar jokes. I have a question: You're having a drink with a couple of your white friends, and a Sikh with a beard and turban walks past. One of your mates mutters, "F-----g rag-head." What would you say in the above instance? Dismiss it as harmless banter or speak up?

  25. No, those are just incredibly slick, well-produced and edited wedding videos. There's no conspiracy on that front. Some Panjabi girls want to be in their own Bollywood film, lol, and the closest they get to realising that dream is to have their wedding day shot in a particular romanticised way that lives up to that aesthetic.

  26. Too much of ego, thus there is more noise then actual nuts, in reality. The topic is, of why other dharmas like christianity and islam are allowed by god to sacrifice animals, but not sikhi. Thus the topic is not of attacking vegetarians, just because one is a meat eater, and so to justify one´s sense of guilty, it is better to divert the attention on the other side. Anyway, NavdeepSingh74 gives an explanation with solid foundation, thus is much more credible and valid, than sheer empty words. A positive person sees goodness, almost in all; while a negative person just vomits the negativity contained within, and sees faults with almost everyone. There is no doubt, there is a lot of potential, but in the end it all depends on how we use it, whether in being humble, good and helpful, or, egoistic, negative and destructive. Sat Sree Akal.

  27. I have just watched this video and I can't believe my eyes. Please, I urge you all to watch this video again and see what happens at 3.49 minutes. It shows someone is handing Bhai Balbir Singh some money in the form of notes which goes straight to his pocket! I think apples/some fruit is parshaad. I might be wrong but it looks like he was paid to do what he has done so they could make a video to sikhan nu barkaan vaste. I am so shocked at this. Corruption and corrupt people are so vile and cancerous they simply don't want to go away. They are like a malignancy. No radiation or chemotherapy treatment has the power to cure this malignancy!! I have also been watching some videos of sikhs marrying muslims or others in the gurdwaras, on the youtube. I somehow don't think they are all real. They have been so well choreographed that even bollywood is no match to them. I think these videos are also work of those that are trying to decimate the sikh religion all over the world and not only in India. In fact, I have been studying these videos for their authenticity and I have my doubts. They are making these videos to mislead our youth. It's is not only our youth that needs to wake up, it is time for the whole quame to wake up now before it is too late. I dread what is coming next!

  28. most of the girls who marry out and their non sikh husband just want an exotic wedding since the Anand Karaj does look pretty nice in the album. The husband being a non Sikh will have children with her that will also be non Sikh. Traditionally in human society the woman and her children have after marriage automatically identified with whatever faith her husband identified with. This is probably the reason why people are not protesting when the woman is a non Sikh because it is assumed that she and her children will adopt the faith the husband identifies with similar to a Sikh girl who marries a Muslim man will do a nikaah after formally converting to Islam and her children will also automatically identify with the faith of their Muslim father.

  30. Probably because a big tegha goes better with their chakar, dumallas and cholas than a 9mm does. A lot of them like to pretend they're following in the steps of Puraatan warriors. But as Johnny Veer pointed out, in accounts of the Puraatan Singhs penned by their enemies they are often acclaimed for their proficiency with firearms (matchlocks and flintlocks). This fixation with the weapons of the antique world is a product of romantic nostalgia, but the Khalsa of old was nothing if not practical. I'll try and get some quotes later.

  31. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Shriomani raagi needs Shiromani chittar. Is he not of Nihung background? If so, his local chaoni or relevant Dal should be out to do some jhatka practice for such vile betrayal. I am sure this story will take on an interesting development as time goes on. Rulda Singh was spot on - the government has agencies sitting there finding ways to demoralize and utterly decimate the Sikh psyche. The likes of RSS and other such groups seem to have a cache of such tricks up their sleeve and will release them as part of a psychological warfare. Not too long ago, Ragi Harjinder Singh was caught doing keertan at a Radhasoami wedding as well. Good strategy: Never let the Sikhs rest. Divide them, cause in fighting, buy out all of their leading figures, destroy the rest who cannot be bought, poison them from their stages using their own parchariks, dilute and pervert their history and Gurbani. Make sure no unity ever occurs and make sure some incident or other keeps them in panic, divided and scattered. If there is an event that does unite them, use their leaders to divide them again. Use Maryada and other differences to divide them.

  35. And you know this how? You have a time machine and you went back and checked? Population was much lower then it is today. People knew each other. Answer the question, why coudn't the King station a couple of guards nearby? What a load of nonsense. Even porn actor and real life prostitutes don't get so horney to the point they willingly drink a drug laced drink. Horniness does not make you stupid nor does it retards your mental faculties. Once again an absurd comparison. Guru Amar Das Ji did not seek the company of some woman in the middle of the night. What happened to Guru Amar Das Ji was an unprovoked action. I'm sorry but I don't think it's a good for idea you to compare our Gurus to a fictional character in some story, that too with questionable character. Earlier you compared our Gurus to Martin Luther King. I hope you understand that our Gurus were not mere 'social activist'. Janam Sakhias are based on actual events and not fictional tales. Why do you need a fictional 'story' to teach you about lust? Are you a child? What next? Comics? LOL! Please see below on our Gurus teachings on lust. Meditate and listen to the Name of the Lord, and give it to everyone. In this way, the filth of lifetimes of karma shall be removed and egotistical pride shall vanish from your mind. Sexual desire and anger shall not seduce you and greed will depart (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 135). Lust, anger, egotism, jealousy and desires are eliminated by chanting the Name of Lord (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 1389). Renounce sexual desire, anger, falsehood and slander; forsake maya and eliminate egotistical pride. Renounce lust and promiscuity, and give up emotional attachment. Only then shall you obtain the Immaculate Lord amidst the darkness of the world. Renounce selfishness, conceit and arrogant pride, and your love for your children and spouse. Abandon your thirsty hopes and desires, and embrace love for the Lord. O Nanak, the true one shall come to dwell in your mind. Through the True Word of Shabad, you shall be absorbed in the Name of Lord (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 141). Sexual desire and anger are the wounds of the soul. The evil-minded ones forget the Naam, and then depart. True are the teachings of the true Guru. The body and mind are cooled and soothed by the touchstone of Truth. This is the true mark of wisdom: that one remains detached, like the water-lily, or the lotus on the water. Attuned to the Shabad, one becomes sweet, like the juice of sugarcane (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 152). One who commits to Naam and sees this world as merely a temporary pasture. For him, lust and anger demolish like breaking a jar of poison (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 153). Sexual desire, anger, greed and ego are eradicated in the Saadh Sangat (Company of the Holy), all sinful mistakes are washed away (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 194). He washes outwardly but his mind is filthy inside; thus he loses his place in both worlds. Here, he is engrossed in sexual desire, anger and emotional attachment; hereafter, he shall sigh and weep (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 381). Like the mad dog running around in all directions, the greedy person consumes everything, edible and non-edible alike. Engrossed in the intoxication of sexual desire and anger, people wander through reincarnation over and over again (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 50). The world is drunk, engrossed in sexual desire, anger and egotism. Seek the sanctuary of the saints, and fall at their feet; your suffering and darkness shall be removed (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 51). Engrossed in sexual desire, anger and egotism, one wanders around insane. When the messenger of death hits him on the head with his club, then he regrets and repents. Without the Perfect Divine Guru, one roams around like satan (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 708). The compassionate perfect Guru has eradicated my doubts and fears. The horrific demons, unsatisfied sexual desire and unresolved anger have been totally destroyed (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 854). http://www.realsikhism.com/index.php?action=quotes&topicid=35&topicname=Lust Once again an absurd comparison. One on fictional tales and the other on fundamental of Sikhism. Why is it so easy for you to believe this tales are from Guru Gobind Singh Ji? Can you provide a single piece of historical evidence whereby Guruji talked about these tales to the Sangat during his time? Please cite your source.

  37. Just to correct you on one point Quantavius. Your point about a firearm is far from comical but very relevant to American Amritdhari's. Kirpan refers to any shastar (weapon) that we are able to access and utilise with which to do "kirpa" via defending the weak from oppression. Thus, as per my limited understanding (and certain Sikh schools of thought) a glock, a spear or any weapon that the said Khalsa has access to are indeed Kirpan. Bear in mind that matchlocks were used in 1699. There is also an argument that 5 kakkar was actually a subsequent corruption of Guru Sahib's original invocation to the Khalsa Panth that the Khalsa should always keep kes and have panj shastar and be tyaar bar tyaar at all times. We have to ask ourselves would Guru Sahib require African Khalsa Sikhs with long dreadlocks to wear kangha given that Sikhi is universal, 100% practical, fully progressive with the times and eternally applicable.

  38. Balkaar Singh Bhai Sahib please read into Professor Padam's (false) allegation into who the King of Anandpur in the referred to Charitar actually (supposedly) is and I am pretty sure you will subsequently arrive at the same conclusion that Quantavius has already reached. The intent of the writer imho was not to impart moral guidance but rather to denigrate Dhan Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj at the behest of anti-Sikh (Mughal and biprenvaad) forces. I will try expand on this later as i see that sincere Sikhs like yourself and Kira Singh that I 100% respect may have been reading rhetorical material which is purported to promote Sikhi but in fact does everything but.

  39. I don't agree. When the Khalsa Panth was created there could no longer be any doubt that Sikhs were not Hindus. The Khalsa was the embodiment of Bir Ras, and Sri Dasam Granth is the Granth of Bir Ras. What about it leads you to believe that it is being directed with nefarious purpose by Hindus? The tales of the Hindu Gods? When Martin Luther King was advocating civil rights in America, he referred to the Bible for the purposes of metaphor because it was the only book he could be sure his entire audience had read. Dashmesh Pita deployed the stories of the demigods as a reference point, because all his Sikhs would have already been somewhat familiar with them. These fables permeated the folklore of the subcontinent. As for Charitropakhyaan, the section to which people most commonly take issue, talking about the dangers of sex will tend to necessitate talking about sex. Try talking about how unhealthy cigarettes are without mentioning cigarettes, it cannot be done.

  40. Let me explain this by the caste division system. As you know there are 4 classes of people divided: 1)kshatriyas 2)brahmans 3)shudars 4)vaishyas Kshatriyas were the people who managed the empire (i.e kingdom),they were the kings. They also used to eat meat. But in Sri dasam granth some of them are said to be of high spirituality and resulting in "mukti". Some havans done by Brahmans also needed animal sacrifices too.Animal sacrifice is also related to the victory of goddess Durga on the demons. Sikhi is made by combining 4 classes(kshatriyas, brahmans, shudars, vaishyas) into a single person. That's the main reason Shri Harmandir Sahib has four doors ,explaining that it is open for all 4 classes.A Amritdhari(khalsa) can take life of someone for the purpose of selfdefence. But sacrificing and eating animals is not allowded in Sikhi due to the spiritual cost and the negative energy from the eating material. The universe is made by the God with "Maya" as he himself remain untouched to it.Maya further made 3 guns 1)Sato gun 2)Rajo gun 3)Tamo gun and then 5 elements were made. 1)sato gun is the state of mind of a person with compassion, faith, love etc. 2)Rajo gun is the state of mind of a person with intellectual skills, more interested in politics etc. 3)Tamo gun is the state of mind of a person who is short temppered, always ready to fight. Tamo gun is the lowest of these guns.Meat is a Tamo gun food.It increases tamo gun in us.Sikhi's ultimate aim is to reach the 4th gun state (Brahm gian) which can only be given by God not Maya ,after one reaches the state of sato gun then brahm gian is obtained. These answers will help you : Question: Master ji, we all know that it's very crucial to abstain from the eating of meat because this increases our karmas, but can you explain in more detail the reasons for becoming vegetarian? Thakar Singh: We should not increase our burden of karmas as you have already said. There is karmic value in every kind of thing we use in this world. The air we consume, we have to pay for. The water we use, we have to pay for. The light of the sun or moon is also not free for us, and this green grass is also to be paid for - nothing is free. Depending on the "Jun" (life-form), there is a price to be paid. Lower life forms have a lower price to pay. Plants have a lower spiritual price than animal life forms. So why take the higher burden? If you are to construct a house, you don't make it with gold or silver or jewels. If you can, you make the house with stone - Stone is very strong and cheap -- So, why don't you make your house with stone and bricks instead of gold? This body is like a house. Build it with material that is spiritually cheap and strong. Fruits and vegetables are spiritually cheap and they can make you spiritually and physically strong. Higher life-forms are expensive - and you will have to pay a higher price! In the same way, if we can maintain a simple life style, with a spiritually lower cost - with this greenery, fruits, etc - then why attract so much burden and payment of karma by consuming higher life-forms? God did not really say that it is "burden-less" or it is all free. He has never explained it like this, but He has allowed us to have these lower forms because with our meditations we can release ourselves very quickly and easily and therefore we will not "over-burden" ourselves for a long time. This is also the case with people who eat animals. Their nervous systems have been seriously disturbed and shaken. Even if you look at an animal that has been killed you will be emotionally affected; your nervous system will be disturbed and you will lose so much peace; you will not feel good and your heart will be affected by it. Look at a dying fish. It is out of water and if you look at it, for one or two hours or even some days your heart will not feel good. You will think of the condition of that fish and it will feel horrible and your heart and mind will be in some kind of perturbed state. For months even this state of mind will continue. Maybe after a long time you will forget this scene and its effect will be gone from your heart and then perhaps you cannot remember it - still it has its effect. If just looking at a dead fish causes this then what will be the case when we eat it and all these negative vibrations enter into our system. So many diseases will come up and our mental systems will be disturbed. But when we eat some greenery or fruit everything is wonderful. The plant produces the fruit for consumption by an animal so that the seeds can be transported to new places. In fact by eating the fruit you are doing a favour to the plant! - the fruit is a bait for the animal to do a function that the plant desires - That is the function of a fruit. If you look at fruit that is ripe the colors tell you so wonderfully that it is ripe. A fragrance is also available and when you smell it you enjoy it and even when you remember the smell you feel good. Your heart is also enjoying and your mind and body are at peace. Q. Flesh-eaters often say to vegetarian Sikhs, if you eat only vegetables you are also taking life. What, then is the difference between taking the life of, say, a pig and that of a vegetable? A. All the difference in the world. Does a potato cry out when it is taken from the earth the way a calf does when it is taken from its mother? Does a stick of celery scream in pain and terror when it is picked the way a pig does when it is being led to slaughter and is having its throat cut? And how sad, lonely, and frightened can a head of lettuce feel? We don't need a polygraph to demonstrate that plants have consciousness of a sort, but this consciousness is obviously of a rudimentary kind, far different from that of mammals with well developed nervous systems. Nor do we need tests to prove that fowls and pigs and sheep experience pain to the same degree as human beings, for it is common observation that animals wince, howl, wail, and show terror when abused or injured and make every effort to avoid pain. Actually many fruits and vegetables can be picked without killing or even harming the plants. These include berries, melons, legumes, nuts, seeds, pumpkins, and many other vegetables. Potatoes are taken from the ground after the plant has died. Most vegetables are annuals, harvested at or near the end of their natural life. In fact, there is considerable scientific evidence that the human physiology, like that of our closest living creatures - the great apes, is vegetarian in design. The structure of our skin, teeth, stomach and bowels, the length of our digestive system, the composition of our saliva, stomach acids and urine, etc. are all typically vegetarian. There is also a mountain of evidence proving that a meat-based diet contributes to a whole range of diseases. Many scientists now concede that fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and grains appear best suited to the human body. Finally, we know that we cannot subsist for long without food, and all food is matter that was once alive. But since we can subsist well and even thrive without meat, why take animal life in addition to the plant life we need to survive? Among certain spiritually oriented persons one will often hear this strange rationalization: "Sure, we eat meat", they say, "what of it"? What is most important is not what enters the stomach but what comes out of the mind! Although it is true that ridding oneself of one's delusions, breaking out of the prison of the ego-I into a life of sympathy with all sentient beings is paramount, how can we establish a sympathetic rapport with non-humans while we are feasting on them? "Do not cause pain to any creature, Go back to your Home with honour." (Sri Guru Granth Sahib, pg 322) Story of Bheesham Pitama In accordance to Hindu mythology, Draupadi asked the saint Sant Bheesham Pitama, why he had not come to her rescue when she was stripped of her clothing in Duryodans court. She queried him, saying that if he was a saint, why did he not raise his voice when evil was going on before his very eyes in Duryodanas court. He started to cry and said, Daughter, I shall tell you the truth; my mind became clouded by darkness as I had eaten in Duryodans house. Therefore, this shows how the love of God breaks away from a being as their mind becomes clouded by filth and prevents them from performing good deeds.

There is hunger in Pakistan, langar sewa is required. People are suffering spiritually, parchar is required.
