  1. You're brave to admit your problems and penji has given excellent advice. I have been going through a bad time myself over the last few months which got worse over the last month. Praying to Waheguru for love and protection has kept me going even when at times I've felt hopeless. My situation is starting to change, and I know its through Waheguru's power working to change the situation and give me direction and guidance. Suddenly you find other people helping or providing the information/idea you need. never forget that Waheguru cares about you most and is always there, never too busy and will always listen - be honest and ask for help from your heart and it will come.

  3. Sangat Ji, The next instalment of the Anand Karaj Katha is here! Part 6 of this series is going through the deeper meanings to the Anand Karaj. Baljit Singh goes through one of the Shabads that is read at the beginning of the Anand Karaj ceremony. The main message of this Shabad is to go to the Guru before starting anything in life but more importantly in order for the Guru to fulfil your wishes you must follow what the Guru teaches.

  6. Guptprincess jee, first of all sorry for your ill health issue; eating meat or not, or even being on a vegetarian diet, has nothing to do with taste, or liking it, or wanting it, or not. It has to be something reasonable behind it. You see, creation is made in such a way, that karam is unavoidable. Saints advise us to stay on veg diet, because the weight increment of karamas on our heads, is lighter, than if we ate meat or other non veg stuff. We have to balance our lives with Gurmat. While paying off our destiny karma in this life, at the same time, collect the least karma, so that the paying off for it in the future does not become so big or so painful. Moreover, while being here and paying our karmas here, as per Guramt, we have also to make the most profit in this priceless human life; which is to do His Bhajan bandagee that much, that we invoke His Grace on us, and wash the filth of our store karma. Because, if we do not take chance of this priceless human birth, we are then no less than beasts or the rest of the creatures in the creation. Sister, have full faith in Wahiguru and stick to it firmly. You see, there are some things which we are out of our control, like birth / death, happiness / sorrow, health / illness. On these things we have no control. Believe it, before we were even born, our number of breaths are counted, the very minute and palce we shall leave this earth is also perfectly timed, not a single second less, nor more. So believe it, no doctor, nobody, can shorten your life, nor make it longer of a decimal of a second even. So if everything is written, why not let the nature work out our destiny, and we without any doubts, rather do His devotion with so much intensity and longing for His darshan, that we take our surtee within and above the mental state, and get deeply absorbed in the Shabad Guru, which is the fountain of infinite and permanent bliss. I am quite consciouss, that this is more difficult than said, but it is the only thing we can do for ourselves. I am not saying give up, keep on trying, but do not compromise and try to jump over the principles of this creation. I will definetely pray to Wahiguru to give you strength to face this your karma, not that He does not know about your condition, but definetely prayers are means to invoke His grace, prayers can move mountains, and this is what we can at most do, whether for others, or ourselves. Sister Guptprincess Jee, may Wahiguru bless you. Sat Sree Akal.

  8. I may appreciate his knowledge, but also abhor racism or casteism. They are both a primitive form of thought. There is no shortage of both amongst punjabi's and those claiming sikhi. Kudos to mods for understanding the issue and not wanting to tolerate this. It is in line with Sikhi to speak against racism/casteism from the rooftops. However, as Sikhs, and moreover as Sikhs that lead or represent in any form, such as mods on this forum, we must also maintain the highest standards. Banning, disagreeing, stipulated rules are fine. However, if we accept someone as a member, then leaders must lead to bring others up, not put them down personally. As for racism/casteism... It is not something that we can simply think past. It is in the air we breathe, in our environment, so we must challenge our minds. It is not something we get over once. We must constantly question and shape our minds and it's interaction with the world. So called intelligence often is not a cover as many complex thinkers are ugly racists/casteists. It is not enough to smile at 'others' and say, wish and think we are accepting. The disease of seeing 'the other' is deeply engrained. For punjabi's and claimants of sikhi, this ugly disease is part of our upbringing and society. If we don't see that first, we are not likely to get past it. The biggest thing stopping sikhi from spreading across the world is the punjabi racists/casteist distortion of sikhi.

  9. This is what was happening at Darbar Sahib when the mahants controled it. The precincts began to be used by pandits and astrologers for the propagation of superstitious practices. Idols were openly worshipped in the holy compound. Dirty booklets were sold and shops of all sorts were opened in the premises. On the Basant and the Holi days licentious songs were sung by musicians inside the Temple. Eogues roamed about harassing women. Brothels were opened in the neighbouring houses, where unwary women visiting the Temple were taken for immoral purposes, some sadhus acting as agents.* In 1905 with the general awakening in the country, the Sikhs felt their grievances keenly and determined to right some of the outstanding wrongs. The idols were re-moved, and a widespread agitation was set on foot to nationalise the control of the Darbar Sahib.

  10. I agree with the brothers here that the current system is highly flawed. But the solution is not to go back to the system of the Mahants which was equally flawed besides being soaked in Hindu traditions. We need to go back to the basics of our religion the way the system was during the time of Guru Gobind Singh Jee. All innovations and deviations should be separated from the Khalsa tradition.

  11. If you can't find a better social circle, just drop out of this one for a while. I know it must be extra tough because it's family and that. Go 'solo soldier' for a while, it'll strengthen you up. I had a slightly similar situation with one of my close cousins and drink, but more than that was the sleazy, two-faced people that accompanied it all (his mates). It was like drinking and it wasn't even mid-day yet. Eventually we had a big row. His mates don't come around no more and he holds his drinking down around me now. Ultimately, it's on you brother. If you consider yourself a grown arse man - you got to know when to draw the line. Be conscious of being influenced. And if your cuz's is the type that are always trying to entice you with all the 'go on mate, it's only one', it's probably better to just eff them off? I've seen what charlie does to people long term. Be careful, or you'll end up schizio.

  15. " Different thing is, one being a perfect devotee of Wahiguru, a good noble person, has also a duty towards his people, as a brave soldier by fighting the enemy, or even if he is not a soldier, but when the need arises, he steps forward without any doubt and fulfills his duty as a human being fighting for justice...and these people, as said before, because they are perfect devotees, we call them perfect devotees not for any reason in particular, but because they perform their bhajan bandagee as per instructions of Gurmat or Gurabni, so even if they loose their lives in the battlefield, they will surely reach His Darbar and Wahiguru will embrace them. So the entering in His Drabar and being accepted there, is because of their pooran bhakti as souls, not because of their professions, or any heroic acts as humans. It is their pooran bhakti, which takes them to higher avasthaas, and makes them see Wahiguru everywhere, so they become fearless as He Himself, because everywhere, and everything is Wahiguru to them. So in a way, even their bravey, is a consequence of their pooran sharda and pooran bhakti towards Wahiguru alone. " This bit that you have written is what I was actually thinking along the lines of when I asked the question, but I didn't know how to briefly word it or how ask, I just needed the confirmation and explanation as to if I was understanding it correctly ji, as somewhere along the posts I got confused. 16. Yes that is what I am saying also, people desviate because there is no concentration, no clear thinking, the mind is volatile ...it happens so, not only here, but almost on all levels of lives...

  17. Simran Pen Jee, we humans mostly see everything with our limited vision. But the thing is we should keep in mind, that be it Shaheeds, or any ordinary people, it is the souls, the jeev atmas, which merge in Him, through His Bhakti. You see it is we who think that even in ruhaniyat, there are heros or villains. And just as president of a country, condecorates any brave soldier because he has fought and done a great job on a mission assigned to him...so we think, shaheeds by fighting the enemies of a particular dharam and by sacrificing their lives are something of a higher level and will be accepted in His Darbar and condecorated as Shaheeds with much band baaja and music, as most of we think. I believe many of our people think whenever they reach Sach Khand, they will se a huge crowd of Shaheds, of Gurmukhs, Sant Jan, of Guru Sahibans ...etc. All this is our bharm. For as the Bani says: Sach Khand vasay Nirankar. In Sach Khand, only the formless Wahiguru Nirankar resides, and whosoever reaches there, goes not to retain its individual personality, but to become one with Wahiguru. Below Sach Khand, there are many planes where souls arte not totally free from the creation, and there one can see all these good noble souls, brave souls .... including the angels, gods or godesses. You see when we step there, we shed all our coverings, whether physical astral or causal. We become pure shining Light, pure souls, in order to merge in Him. A soul is related to God, just as a ray is to the Sun, or a drop to the Ocean. So it is the water in the glass, which become one with the water of the Ocean ...the glass, the bottles...are just retainers or containers of that essence; so is the same with our body and soul. Our sous are of the same nature as formless Wahiguru, irrespective of our nationalities, race, caste, gender or color ... But the fact is, in His Darbar, the only requirement needed for entry, is His grace and His devotion. He does not see as we see, He does not see of which caste, color, dharam or mazaab one belongs, or what profession one has, if one is a president of a state, a brave soldier, a tailor, a cook, or a servant, be it anything .... If anything He ever sees and consideres is, if, we have done the job, the mission of our coming here in this world, which is of doing His real devotion, thus cut our attachments, our chains with this mayavee creation and merge in Him. As the Bani says : Bahut janam bichre teh Madao, ehe janam tumare lekhey. This means, in countless lives we have done many things, jap, tap, poojas, paths, pilgrimages, heroic acts .....etc, but none were worthy for our redemption, thus we contnue in the wheel of 84, so dear Lord, this very life we shall dediacte it exclusively in your bhajan bandagee, in doing the right devotion, which is His Simran alone. Bhaee parapat manukh deh hooreeya, Gobind milan ke ehe teree bareeya. This means, we have got this human birth, only for the purpose of reuniting our souls with Him, and this is only possible way no other, through His Bhakti alone. Different thing is, one being a perfect devotee of Wahiguru, a good noble person, has also a duty towards his people, as a brave soldier by fighting the enemy, or even if he is not a soldier, but when the need arises, he steps forward without any doubt and fulfills his duty as a human being fighting for justice...and these people, as said before, because they are perfect devotees, we call them perfect devotees not for any reason in particular, but because they perform their bhajan bandagee as per instructions of Gurmat or Gurabni, so even if they loose their lives in the battlefield, they will surely reach His Darbar and Wahiguru will embrace them. I thought in bringing out this point of view,a s we humans are vey weak, and always like the easy way and find excuses or substitutes for not doing our real job of His bhakti. Anyone is free of thinking and believing as one may want, but it would be wise and safe, in keeping Gurbani present in our daily lives, by implementig it strongly in our minds. Sat Sree Akal

  18. Our revolution (our version of arab spring) should be at two folds: One fold: Bring sangat picked jathedar at akaal takth who has confidence of sangat. Second fold which is even more important that first one is to have strong panthic leader stand up as nominee in next punjab cm election at 2017. Unfortunately, leadership in punjab gov't matters a great deal as unfortunately monarchy system has long gone. We should spent more energies looking to replace cm in next election to our panthic minded sikh than just limited ourselves to just replacing jathedars. Even if we get right leader at akaal takth sahib. If he does not do compromises ,hold talks with punjab cm, they be always on dead lock without wider progress in punjab. Punjab cm - badal as we have seen have caused major problems has divided punjab, bought sectarian division in punjab. Regardless whoever you replace, he has to comply with cm request/demands as they are the ones governing, cm can make it very difficult for everyone its like in western countries without mayor/provincial leaders funding- cops have no power to enforce. CM has full control over funding, taxes, infrastructure, jobs, economy in punjab.

  19. Well it only shows how people can differ in their thinking on a same issue ...we may laugh, but the thing is the minds(which otherwise is invisble) of the people can be very well seen through their speech and writings, it says a lot about their personality through their expressions ... Of course there are exceptions, but mostly it is like that. Though the thread at some point got out of tracks, but it had a positive side in it... 21. If some of us truly believe being politically aware = a sellout then we haven't got a hope in hell, lol. I suppose the statesmanship displayed by Guru Hargobind Sahib in his dealings with the butchers of his father, and Guru Gobind Singh's numerous dealings with the Mughals would've had them labelled as political sell-outs by the armchair brahmgianis that litter the modern Sikh faith. What a joke. BTW, inbetweener, I know you were making a point and not passing judgement. Thought I'd make that clear if it wasn't already so.

The whole reason for doing this, is to increase presence of sikh meditations on youtube in comparison with other dharam meditations which is widely available online and also giving sangat a chance to relax and enjoy these light meditations which can be done anytime. We be updating the list with more meditations videos..i am doing lot of mixes with native american flute, shamanic flute etc with mool mantar or maha mantar as back drop- true underlying reality. 23. Noji @ Sikhimaking paji. I won't give no abuse, as when I did to my beloved ones, I ended up pushing them away . And who Am I to judge you when I have many weaknesses of my own. It's easy to judge somebody when they are not going through their situation. If I may just give my opinions, I would say your contentment in love for Waheguru is decreasing, (note, not the love you have for them, but the contentment), therefore you are slipping back and are not being strong enough to say NO. NO to your Mann (mind), your soul is diverting to negativity as it has been missing that side, but that side is as you know yourself not good for your soul. Thus, you are letting negative actions of others take over your thinking and letting that take the lead. You need to build your inner courage to say NO. You need to stay focuses on Gods name and ask them to look after you within their will and to help you out of this. The only one that can really find a solution to this is yourself and God is the one that will help you, as long as you do not let go of the faith and trust you have in them. You are right you are with the wrong sangat, change your sangat, but also you need to change yourself from within, so you can go by righteousness and stand up and be able to say NO. Are you worried or depressed about anything?Another idea would be to get counselling to get guidance on learning tools to self manage your weaknesses. Nottingham has Guru Nanaks Mission, they do seva for homeless people. Get yourself involved in these type of activities, where you will meet people your age. https://m.facebook.com/Guru-Nanaks-Mission-Nottm-543300062447675/ Also Baba Buddha Ji gurdwara, the new one, may have people your age that have Sikhi sessions. https://m.facebook.com/gbbji.nottingham?tsid=0.3940869979560375&fref=search Added this one too, if it helps, Sikh youth services. https://m.facebook.com/SCYSnottingham/?tsid=0.7079196574632078&slog=1&seq=1466037735&rk=0&fbtype=274 Sorryji to sound over asking, but have you considered getting help from your doctor with this? We sometimes think they can't help, but they have good resources for different problems and can lead you in the right direction from a referral which one may not be able to do on their own. Basics of Sikhi attended Nottingham university a few days ago. Whenever there is an event like this, put it in your diary/phone and make an effort to attend.

  24. I was wondering if any of u guys knows a ragi who does kirtan in tunes and at the same time in Raag (Combine both). The reason I want to know is because I like raag kirtan as it was the way the Gurus wanted us to sing Gurbani in. At the same time I want the sangat who is listening to the kirtan to be able to sing along with the shabad. So i wanted an example of a Ragi who does that. Please list the ragi name if u know one. Thanks.

  25. It's highly amusing how people pull 1 line out of Gurbani and the and suddenly try use to justify their own needs and wants. If anyone's wondering the entire part of Bani that Jagsaw seems to enjoy butchering up and pasting one line from has an entirely different meaning when read within the context and by knowing the appropriate history behind it. In fact there's a Sakhi which addresses it all.

  28. I Strongly believe had sant jarnail singh had control over matters in the 80s past 84, lets say till 89, that dasam granth sahib would have been inside darbar sahib, and also female kirtanis would of been a normal thing by now. Baba nihal singh alongside sant jarnail singh once sed any1 who tells women they cannot do kirtan, will have their head blown off with rifles/guns, packed sangat or not! Also the whole singh sabha bashin thats goin on here is bit silly and harsh. Their seems to have been a 2 part history of singh sabha. U had the early part where giani ditt singh countered enemy arya samaj/muslim/christian parchars, to the point where sikhi was the fastest growin religion in panjab (most converts & highest birth rates). Then u have the 2nd part, where after singh sabha was a force which brits recognised as a serious organisation, that they probably ruined their members with non-sikhi practices, which ironically is wat singh sabha orginated to stop! Also jus like u have a 2 part story of singh sabha, u have it with the akali dal. Which used to be a genuine sikh party, with genuine panthic feelings and interest, now in 2nd part of their story, its now a shameless communist party, who rewards sikh killers, collaborates with enemies of sikhs and does deliberate beadbis of SGGS, to get votes. Regarding the whole instrument change (vaaja), that happened waaaaaay before singh sabha even formed, probably 1857-70+ time, which is obv after 2nd anglo-sikh war n annexation of panjab, and before singh sabha. That removal of sikh/asian instruments, in place of european/french vajaa, was done to remove watever can influence sikh power/bir rass. So removing raag vidya, stup!d doubts on dasam granth, instruments, weapons, nihang practices, shastar vidya, and shoot-on-sight policy of nihangs directly after annexation of panjab. Hence nihang singhs fled south to hazoor sahib, where their practices continue today, yet r called fake sikhs, coz they do jhatka, n the weak faint hearted fuddus crap their kachhas.

  30. Jagsaw and Proactive, You say that these sellouts tend to be from one particular community? Your sample size is....the Sikh population of London, or lets say, England to be fair. Lets look at the larger sample size of...India. You talk about the entire Sikh community being united. Yes they are - against a man and a particular family, from a particular caste. Are we allowed to mention it? You certainly haven't - despite mentioning the "2% group". Alright then, I will. Yes you guessed it - jatt! The Badal's aka the Dhillon's aka the mafia. Whilst you're busy mentioning the Khatri's, you've failed to look at the bigger picture. Mr Dhillon has systematically attempted to finished off Sikhi in Punjab. He's not the only one from that community who attempted this. Remember KPS Gill, or Gen Brar? Which community were they from? Even if we look at Southall Singh Sabha, Mr Sohi (former pardhaan) has stated that he is proud to have finished off the Khalistan movement in the UK - why wasn't his caste mentioned when judging his loyalty? My point isn't to denigrate the jatts. But, since you don't stop banging on about caste, unloyal Khatri's, etc etc, I feel have no other option but to mention it. It seems rather silly of you Jagsaw, to talk about a few Khatri businessmen who want to meet Modi, who have received OBE's, when, right under your nose, Mr Dhillon has ensured that Punjabi Sikhs are killed off at gunpoint, and those that survive are cancer-ridden, disease-ridden, unemployed, marginalised and read textbooks which teach the kids incorrect Sikh history - something he has not corrected. Mr Dhillon has put zero effort to ensure the release of Rajoana and other Sikh political prisoners. He has formed political coalitions with the BJP - need I say more! Not only has Mr Dhillon attempted to finished off Sikhi in Punjab for this generation. His legacy aka the daily cancer train in Malwa has ensured that the next generation of Sikhs will be so weak, there will be little attempt at another uprising. If anyone survives the above - then they want to commit suicide (farmers). Mr Dhillon has built a business empire stretching from Punjab to Dubai to North America - off the backs of hard working punjabi's of all backgrounds. All the while the common man in Punjab is dodging uranium infested water/soil and dodging a bullet from the police for a peaceful protest. Suddenly, a Khatri businessman receiving an OBE doesn't sound as bad. Under Mr Dhillon, life is so bleak, that if he and his government forces haven't killed you off, then you're going to want to top yourself off regardless. Unless you can escape to England. My point, my dear friends, is simply to highlight that their are traitors in all communities/castes and no one single caste is better than the other in terms of loyalty or sacrifice for Sikhi. Even if we have been told otherwise by our parents. I say this as a julaha. Neither jatt or Khatri - so no conflict of interest. Our real enemies are watching us. All this jatt v khatri nonsense. They would like nothing more than seeing the Sikhs divided. Don't give them an excuse.

If that hasn't been done, then get your Doctor to refer you to one. Also with a problem like this you should be under a specialist who will be able to advise and support you with this. Again, if you do not have this network, then ask for it.
