  2. NO..if Guru Nanak DEv rejected the janeu and the customs of hinduism then he also rejected Manusmriti by default , so anyone who was accepting Guru Nanak Dev as their Guru ceased to be any particular jaat... PLEASE BE SIKHS OF Guru Nanak Dev ji and stop this caste nonsense it is dragging the panth backwards .

  3. Kedar Joshi the author of these satanic verses, seems to be satan himself ...it is sickening to see people carried away with this utter and sheer lies. I am not pro hinduism, but from that point, to the other, to say Krishna was evil or a terrorist .... that is biggest nonsense, in fact, I would say the author himself is a terrorist himself. We have heard mad people exist, but from the words of this evil person, it seems, he has crossed all limits of "rakshaspan". There is no difference between him and Kansa or Ravana. Krishna right from his birth, was the avatar of Vishnu jee, and as such, while not being the absolute Truth as our beloved Wahiguru Akal Purukh, neither comparable to any of our Guru Sahibans or the Gurmukhs, he was good to an extent, and is helpless, just as all other deites, in doing the task (of running this mayavee creation) assigned to him, and them(devis, devtas, gods) by the only one Creator, Satnam. Shame on this poor and mentally handicaped Kedar Joshi, for uttering such ugly lies .... trying to manipulate the probably mentally and spiritually weak ones .... Sat Sree Akal

  5. Remember when the charlie hebdo shootings happened. 16 white people were killed the whole western world was shaken and the media was giving 24/7 coverage like it is the end of the world. But just at that time 2000 people in a Nigeria, black people were butchered by the Boko Haram and the news coverage barely noticed it giving it a slight mention if barely like it is nothing. Just recently how Sikhs were killed by police firing in Punjab. Sikhs had to bug the media to give it a mention.

  7. This is why Guru Ji warns us in scriptures we should always be ready for death. How many of us listen to this and carry on with our anti-sikh antics? I know for sure most of our people dont listen and just carry on sinning and forgetting about our lord on daily basis. When death comes it can come suddenly or can come as expected. Either way as Sikhs, as human beings we are in a lucky position we have made it in this life however if we don't practise Sikhi if we don't do naam simran and connecting to waheguru before life is taken away from us then every human will suffer a fate will be worse than death in the afterlife.

  8. Gentlemen, It was a polite note to refrain from using vile language on this site. This site is based on our religion. It's quite obvious from reading some of the posts in response to my request that there are some individuals here who quite clearly could not careless using vile disgusting language sometimes in the same sentences quoting our special Guruji. Shame on you. If this is the low this site will go to then I am afraid I would not want to be part of it. The note I had put out was a polite request. Most people have sent me messages expressing how they support my request and are offended by seeing language for which there is clearly no need for. One member in particular has expressed that he sees this vile language being used at his work, warehouses and building site etc etc. Well this is not the place where such language should be used and quite frankly I am disgusted by some members response. Please have some respect.

  10. I live in London mate, I've had to face that possibility a few times when on the tube. You just have to deal with it and hope and pray. How many times have I been on the tube and someone with suitcase is right there next to me. I remember the day after the bombings here and that Brazillian guy got shot, I had to do an exam and go on the tube which was pretty much deserted. It was scary. Not just because of terrorists but also the possibility some armed and amped up white policeman going overboard. The reality of today is that you could be going to work on the tube and all of a sudden someone is being a 'terminator' in the next carriage. On top of that, potential retaliation from racist whites and the police is also something we have to face up to. I've had to talk to younger nephews about being mentally/psychologically and even physically prepared for ending up in these situations. You have to be sharp when out and about. Duck and dive and escape if possible. That's where your dharam comes in too. God forbid, but if it is destined for me to go like that, then I just hope I've done enough good to have some favour with Guru ji and Waheguru.

  11. Now you are shifting things. Them using strong language doesn't equate to drug taking or being a sharabi. My point is that they were manly men - not the emasculated, softened up types many of our bundhay have become today. I think we need more like them today - not less. People running around clutching their handbags against their chest aghast at some strong words. It's both sad and funny. Good for you! Your personal choice.

  12. Mate your life as a Sikh as a brown person as an asian is worth less than a white atheist/christian/jews its as simple as that. The sooner we accept the cold hard facts the sooner we can fight for equality and respect for Sikh human rights. Just as in the white centric western world the white gays lives were not seen as equal worth a few decades ago just as white women lives were not seen as of equal worth or representation but now they run the social media networks, they run show biz, they run the political agenda, they run mainstream media news, they have future prospects and lifestyles and better pay than non-white minority group men. So Sikhs and other non-white minority groups will have to fight for equal human life worth. If you don't fight if you don't complain you would get anything simple as that

Saying this, I am aware it is not a good trait for Sikhs and we should strive to rid ourselves of this type of language in line with: gurU kw isK gMd-vwkI nw hovY The Sikh of the Guru should never speak disgusting speech. Rehatnama Bhai Chaupaa Singh Jee nwnk iPkY boilAY qnu mnu iPkw hoie ] O Nanak, speaking insipid words, the body and mind become insipid. I should add that in battle Singh's in the past have used swear words to break down or curse the enemy. So maybe everything depends on the situation but it should not become habit.

  18. Have faith in Guru Sahib and you can easily wait until the time your beard has grown, no need to worry about death. If Amrit Sanchar is not readily held where you live then explain the situation, I think they will understand. Moreover, you might be waiting an age for it to grow. The whole point of Amrit Sanchaar is to follow rehat, so if someone breaks these promises then on their head be it. This is why I believe it won't be an issue and they will accept you as is.

  19. Yeah, the above is exactly what I was alluding to. Nothing we do in terms of dharam is ever too much, but one would hope we've lived decent lives and conducted ourselves in the correct Sikh way that means if we do end up unexpectedly on the other side, this janam won't have been a waste.

  30. Brother Lucky, Sat Sree Akal. Welcome after so long time, we miss you here, please come more oftenly, and allow us to have our share of your wisdom. The Bani says: Ekas bin sabh dhandh hae, sabh moh maaye. And this Ekas, is none other than Wahiguru Akal Purukh Himself. And so what is Wahiguru? Is He something personal, with form, color or size? No. The Bani says, He is Akal, He is Nirankar. He is described as Alakh or Agam also. He is also described as Bani or Amrit Bani, and such, this Bani is the Anhad Naad, the unstruck divine melody ringing within us at all times, irrespective of our caste, color, religion or nationality. And while this divine melody reverberates constantly nonstop, then also this manifestation of Naam or Shabad, projects Akahand Jot, from it. So in conclusion, He can be heard through His Shabad Dhun, and we can have His Darshan through His Jot being pargat within us. And throughout Gurbani, the Bhagat Janas, our Guru Sahibans, have gracefully revealed us these truths, which otherwise we by ourselves could never come to know. And all these saintly Gurmukhs, stress only the bhakti of Naam, because through it, we can manifest that Shabad Guru within us, and by listening to it, we start becoming pure paviter, as we literally burn our store karmas, that is why First Patshahee says: suniye, dukh paap ka naas. Means, by listening to the Shabad Dhun within, which is as same as saying, drinking the Amrit within, all our karmas get dissolved, which are the cause of our sorrows and pains, and of us being prisoners in this mayavee creation And once we become totally inmaculate, gradually with His apaar grace, we merge in Him, and become one with Him. This is when the Bani says, the jot (light, our souls), merges in the Akhand Jot. So when Guru Jee says, suniye in the Bani, it means, we have to do the jugtee of Naam Simran, in order to be able to listen that Shabad Dhun within. This is when Third Patshahee says: Naam jiske man vaseeya, vaajeh Shabad ganere. And when it says "maniye" , it refers to those who have understood and accepted this Truth, as Naam, or Shabad Dhun, as per means of becoming one with Him, through His Simran. Sat Sree Akal.

  31. Watching the non-stop news, there's one thing I can't help but think about: My children.....and how their lives are never gonna be worth as much as the white man's lives. I mean lets look at the facts of Thursday and Friday. On Thursday ISIS bombed the shiites of Beirut. Bombs went off all over Beirut and many many shiites died, icluding children and death toll still rising. No non-stop news for them. No emergency press conferences by Obama and Cameron for them. No govt buildings being lit up in Lebanese colours for them. One day later ISIS do it in Paris. All human life is special. All human life is valuable. But clearly some humans are worth more than others. So when Hollande, Cameron and Obama talk about "humanity" remember that.

  32. Brother Sat, sorry to disagree with you on this point. None of us are free. We have a limited free will, in the sense the karmas we do, we have the choice of doing good or bad. We were not free, in having the choice of where or when to be born, of the family, country, or religion to be born, etc. Everything is predtermined by our karmas. So, how can we call ourselves free? Then, about the Truthfulness....Gurmukhs or Guru Sahibans are free since birth, they are above karmas, even then they respect and abide by the laws of Nature. And these very Guru Sahibans or Gurmukhs, do not have to practice any truth, as they themselves are the very embodiment of that Suprme Truth. It is all others, we who have to practice Truth, because we are still in the realms of mind and Maya, but they Gurmukhs, have their "chit", their dhyan, permanently focused and merged in the Shabad Dhun, they are in constant communion with Shabad. Thus, only them are totally free, and as such, they can take back with them to Sach Khand, whomsoever they want, under the Hukum of Wahiguru. Outwardly they may look like us, but the main difference is, while we are not free and we have to strive in being truthful, they are manifestations of that Primal Supreme Truth, Satnam, Wahiguru Akal Purukh. Sat Sree Akal..

Definitely we need to show solidarity and love for our Sikh brothers and sisters no matter which so called caste, jatha, sect, ethnicity, country they come from. I dont see much love to our Afghan, pakistani and kashmiri Sikh's at the moment its like the clownish samosa head sardars in our community are sucking up to non-sikh communities who don't give a about us than our own actual co-religionists.

  35. This is what a real Gurdwara should be like, providing accommodation and spiritual uplift to those in the greatest need. imagine if this could be replicated around all hospitals, medical centres etc in Punjab and other places where there is a Sikh population. http://www.hindustantimes.com/punjab/sewa-at-guru-s-home-prompts-them-to-embrace-sikhism/story-LbCUC4Fp5GdvDzGfu0kEIP.html Sewa at guru’s home prompts them to embrace Sikhism Tanbir Dhaliwal, Hindustan Times, Chandigarh | Updated: Oct 23, 2015 09:52 IST Baptised Sikh Gopal Singh from Bihar at the gurdwara in PGI. (Gurpreet Singh/HT Photo) Share 119 Share 19 Share Share A long beard, a saffron turban and a kirpan slung across his shoulder, its khakhi strap looking distinct in the kurta — for anyone meeting him for the first time, Gopal Thakur looks like any other Sikh from the region. It’s only when he speaks that you can sense a distinct accent. The 40-year-old labourer, performing “sewa” at Gurdwara Partakh Darshan on the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) campus, came to Chandigarh from Bhagalpur district in Bihar. Admitted to the PGIMER with severe chest pain last year, Gopal took shelter at the gurdwara and started doing “sewa”. A year on, the man who came here as a Hindu is leaving as a baptised Sikh: Gopal Singh. Converted to Sikhism to lead a “dignified life”, Gopal says: “I feel good while doing ‘sewa’ at the gurdwara, and being a Singh, I am respected more.” Gopal is not the only one. Many Hindu and Dalit men, women and even children who had come to the PGIMER for treatment have converted to Sikhism during their stay here. Most are migrant workers hailing from far-flung states, such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir or from the neighbouring country Nepal, who take shelter at the gurdwara in absence of “sarais” for patients and their attendants. Other than free food and shelter, needy patients and their attendants are given lessons on the teachings of Sikh gurus. The gurdwara has not only changed their life but identity and outlook as well. From Devi to Kaur Anandi Devi, aka Pooja Kaur, came to the PGIMER two years back for the treatment of her son, who was hurt in an accident. “Priests at the gurdwara helped me during my difficult time and allowed me to stay here with my child. I do ‘sewa’ at the gurdwara and for it I am paid `2,000 every month,” says Pooja. Sitting in another corner of the gurdwara, 19-year-old Rajesh Kumar, who hails from Muradabad, is learning to tie a turban. “I was brought here after meeting with an accident. After undergoing treatment here, I chose to stay back at the gurdwara. Now, I am planning to embrace Sikhism,” he says. Rajinder Kumar is yet another example of a person who was touched by the love and affection received at the gurdwara. Hailing from Nepal, Rajinder came to the PGIMER way back in 1990. Today, he is settled here. “I had spine tuberculosis. The gurdwara helped me; people here gave me shelter and funded my treatment. They offered me a job. I got married in the same gurdwara and decided to convert,” says Rajinder. Teenager girl’s unfulfilled wish The youngest patient who the HT came across at the gurdwara was 14-year-old Shikha Bhardwaj from Darbhanga district in Bihar. She was suffering from uterus cancer and was undergoing treatment since January this year. Shikha had enrolled for a visit to Anandpur Sahib to embrace Sikhism and had shared her plans too: “My parents have sold all their property to fund my treatment. We do not have any other place to go. So, we stay at the here. Moreover, I feel good while doing ‘sewa’; it gives me some hope.” Unfortunately, she could not survive cancer. Baba Tarsem Singh, a “kar sevak” at the gurdwara says: “We saw that many people were getting cured by doing ‘sewa’. Many patients pray here for quick recovery. Looking at people’s faith, we thought of spreading awareness about the importance of a Guru.” The gurdwara has organised three trips to Anandpur Sahib in the last six months; wherein nearly 100 people embraced Sikhism.

  38. Good post Sat jee. To what you have stated 24/ 7 , I would add 365. Because most people say they can do this or that for 24 hours and they do train for it, but then they relax, and forget what they were trying to understand in those 24 hours of practice. That is why the Banis says: Tum karoh daya mere Saee, Aisee mat deejhay mere Thakur, sadah sadah Tujhe dheeayaoo. Guru Sahiban, is telling us : sadah sadah, means always do His Simran & Dhyan, but we moorakhs, according to our manmat, we add other things(our own mirch, masala), like in preparing curry... stupid silly people, that also, when Gurmat, Gurabni is so simple and starighforward , butr we make it limited and complicated, thus it is a great unjustice, a disrespect, to the teachings of our Guru Sahibans and Bhagat Janas. But the thing is, Wahiguru, through His Gurmukhs, is telling us that, if you want to become one with me, just do my Simran, that is it, no jap, tap, poojas, paaths, pilgrimages, fastings, nothing at all. Because all this is done with the body, and the body will one day become ashes/dust. The soul is subtle, it is captured as prisoner by the mind, so, we have to fight with the mind, with the weapon of His Naam, to defeat it, and liberate our souls from its clutches, and thus be able to merge in the omnipresent Wahiguru. We must bear in mind, His Naam, is the only weapon to defeat mind, maya and kaal...no devis, devtas, gods, angles, etc....absolutely nobody and nothing can help us being free from these evil enemies of ours. Gods, devis, devtas...none of them even know, what Wahiguru or Naam is, as they themselves are deluded in Maya. That is why the Gurbani, only stresses on the one creator Wahiguru, and His reality as Shabad or Naam. This is the wadeeayee, of our Guru Sahibans, who are most merciful on us by letting us know about Wahiguru and Naam. Sat Sree Akal.

  39. very good book on Sikh Spirituality the website has many good book on spirituality download here http://www.gurukhoj.com/eBooks/SBNS%20eBook%2001%20DMROG%20ONE.pdf DIVINE MYSTIC REFLECTIONS ON GURMAT BOOK 1 TOPICS ADDRESSED INCLUDE: The Power Of Naam Naam and the Mind Naam Perkash Naam and Naam Japna The True and Authentic Guru Who is a True Guru? Khalsa God's Love Drink the Holy Amrit Sensual Pleasures and Naam Ras Union with God The Sikh Way of Life What is Sewa or Service? What is God's Grace? Waheguru Gurmantar Daswand Who is a Sikh? Purpose of the Human Body ABOUT THE B OOK: In the words of Saint Scholar Naranjan Singh Ji, the purpose of this book is to make one worthy of the love of God and to enable him to receive His bounties. Presented in simple English and easy to the eye fonts, the contents will stir any reader's thoughts. This is significant as Sant Ji had always emphasised on "CONTEMPLATION" . Readers will be amazed at the simplicity in which seemingly difficult aspects of Gurbani and Sikhi are explained with ease using examples and analogies. It will answer most (if not all) of the thoughts and questions that we keep harboured in our minds. A highly recommended read for all - Sikhs and non Sikhs. QUOTATIONS FROM THE BOOK: We sometimes feel happy and satisfied with what little we offer to Guru Ji by way of a beautiful rumala. It is a good gesture. Sometimes we place a few dollars before Guru Ji as an offering. Guru Ji explains that this gesture is only the ABC of Gurmat. This is to say that, for maybe many years, some of us have not progressed beyond the stage of reading ABC. In other words, this is only the beginning of Gurmat. One great endeavour of all the Sikh Gurus was to pull back and reduce the importance of their physical selves in favour of the importance of worship of God, devotion to Him, remembrance of His Name - the things which are emphasized most in the contents of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Ultimately this reduction and withdrawal of physical selves was complete and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji became the Guru containing all their teachings. The Lord only wants the offering(paytaa) of body and mind. Sometimes we surrender our body but keep the mind to ourselves. The mind does not surrender. Have you ever thought what would take place when we reach the end of our road? Well, the body will be burnt to ashes which will be scattered by the wind in four direction. We wouldn't know where the wind is going to deposit us finally. It would be much better if we could find some fire while we are still alive and burn our ego into ashes. This burning of our ego will lead us to the Lord's mansion. To be successful in both the material and spiritual worlds, it is extremely important for the mind to be powerful. In this spiritual field, the war with our mind is a lifelong process. Japji Sahib was composed by Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji. It is meant to be recited daily. It offers a spiritual remedy for all our ills. It is a highly inspired verse and the thoughts expressed therein are of eternal value and significance. Its recitation is useful in more than one way. It enables us to enjoy communion with God. It helps us to realize the Truth and thereby make our life more purposeful and contented. We realize our real selves. The recitation of Japji Sahib removes the delusions from our minds and sets us on the road to discover the eternal mind - the creator of the universe.

  40. DIVINE MYSTIC REFLECTIONS ON GURMAT BOOK 2 download part 2 http://www.gurukhoj.com/eBooks/SBNS%20eBook%2002%20DMROG%20TWO.pdf TOPICS ADDRESSED INCLUDE: Gurmukh Marg Secret of God's Hukam To become Immortal Salvation Complete Surrender Divine Knowledge God's Grace Birth & Death How to Remember God Peace of Mind Nindah (Slander & Gossip) Simran Ardas Amritvela Gurbani Peace of Mind Aim of Human Life Kirtan & Katha A BOUT THE B OOK: As described by Sant Ji, the purpose of this book is to liberate man from the three-fold sufferings, namely: 1. Physical disease. 2. Mental disharmony. 3. Spiritual ignorance. The presention is similar to Book 1 - in simple English and easy to the eye fonts. Every analogy and assertion is backed by quotes from Gurbani - all explained in a simple easy to understand style. Sant Ji had always emphasised on "CONTEMPLATION" and the contents inevitably lead the reader towards self examination. It also highlights repeatedly the most important endeavour required of us - NAAM JAPNA (ie. the practical aspect). QUOTATIONS FROM THE BOOK: Upon waking up early in the morning and opening our eyes, we should repeat "Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji" five times, before proceeding to perform anything else. This will ensure that we will always be in correct frequency with Guru Ji, similar to a bulb connected to the powerline. Our centre or powerhouse is the Lord. There are lakhs (hundreds of thousands) of people who believe in living Gurus whereas Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji's last words to his Khalsa were, that, 'Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is your living Guru now'. This is the same Jyot (or light) that was in the 10 Gurus. Shabad is the Guru. Sad to say, there are very few people now who have real faith in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as their eternal Guru. In life, there are two things which one would be wise to remember : one is the theory and the other is the practise. For example : an engineer may know everything theoretically about engineering, but, as long as he is incapable of carrying out construction work practically, so long he would be unsuccessful in his work. Therefore the principles of theory must be followed by principles of practise.

People make the assumption that there is a language called Punjabi (what we use everyday) and there is the language called Gurmukhi - the language used to write the Guru Granth Sahib. So are there two languages?? Did the Guru’s use different language called Gurmukhi?? The answer is No. It would be more accurate to say one speak's Punjabi and read's or write's Gurmukhi. Remember - Punjabi is language (what we speak). Gurmukhi is a script (how we write Punjabi).
