  2. See, that's our own fault, we feed these trolls with our reactions. Apnay need to learn to know when to play things down coolly. But a part of me thinks that hordes of apnay particularly like parading around like noisy pendus, and given an excuse....

  7. Terry Milewski has targeted Sikhs for decades now. I still remember his "somosa politics" garbage piece to paint us as terrorists/supporters over a decade ago. He, along with notorious sellout Ujjal Dosanjh, and National Posts's Jonathan Kay are a trio who go to great lengths to knock us down in the public's eyes. They will list off all the usual GOI propaganda points and barely mention the atrocities we've had to face. They want to instigate us, annoy us, shame us, and make it seem perfectly acceptable to tarnish a small minority community with no nation state to call home. Try it with the Palestinians, we should ask these bastards. They wouldn't dare. Other thing is, Milewski knows our reaction pattern to his same old garbage. He relies on us to protest so he can have a few minutes of attention and sell a few books.

  8. I bet the saura/FIL was quiet before marriage because his wife and daughter made him. I can just imagine it: The MIL "dont start foolish arguments, let the girl be married off first, with your incessant talking and debates, you have alienated all of our neighbors and friends. Stay quiet and dont ruin the girls life!" I am terribly sorry to say theres only 2 ways two deal with these type of people. Be extra strict or humble. 1. The amritdhari person can just say I have taken amrit and vows to the panj pyare and I intend to live by them. I just do what my guru says and am too dumb to engage in debate with smart ppl like you. I dont intend to be a debator or scholar, so please leave me alone. I just want the happiness of my guru. Anytime, the FIL tries to start a debate, just say you are probably right and i am not smart enough to debate and walk away. 2. Your amritdhari friend is a jija, a son in law. Tell him to use the power that position gives him. He is not a bahu to quietly take what the sass says. The father in law is interfering in his household and needs to be shown his place. The singh should say, i am an amritdhari and you knew this when you married ur daughter into this house. Either you and your daughter comply with my rehits and rules or you guys leave. For the guru, I am willing to destroy my marriage. (If feels that is too harsh, he can add, I am not a tyrant, you can believe and do what you want. ) But there will be no guru nindya in my house. Your friend is the jawai/SIL. Tell him dont be afraid to make some threats and act tough. Inlaws should be wary of the SIL. This may not seem like the best thing to do for family relations, but people like these actually respect power and tyranny only. The more kind and soft spoken you are, they will ride roughshod over you. You can read about a similar incident here: https://www.gurmatbibek.com/contents.php?id=21

  10. I think you are naive to astounding lengths. The demographic you talk about are commonly racist. It's that normalised racist working class culture. And remember, football has had a very long history of being a hotbed of white supremacist groups, as well as a recruiting ground. So your notion of people simply wanting to innocently enjoy the game is well off. Loads of cocaine gets taken by these people on match days too, it's that type of culture. Football is THE right place to highlight racism, because most of the w**kers who are of this bent, follow it. All you're doing is helping the people who like to hide racism - continue to do so (like a proper numpty). You need to rub it in their faces. And stop fixating on 'celebs' like that, they are only a small part of the picture. All they're doing is letting the wider world know that we acknowledge racism, and in our own little way we'll play a part to help combat the way it tries to hide itself in plain sight. And it would be stupid for some ethnic celeb from a poor background, to have worked themselves up, and then shoot themselves in the foot. I hope some of them spread some of their wealth, at least throughout their families, to help them get stable and build intergenerational wealth. Seriously, you sound like some dumbo english man's pet.

  11. No I don't. Making a big deal out of it is ridiculous. That game with Croatia made me laugh. Some english twats boo'ing the knee, only to have a black guy score the only goal of the match. Says it all. What a bunch of losers. And why the f**k are you talking like one of them has their hands in you, and is operating your mouth like a puppet to sing their song? Why don't you have some independent thought yourself. I think this is a norm throughout society, not just celebs. Plus that doesn't excuse you using white racist dog whistle language. There are also lots of people who have been fighting deeply rooted racism involved too . As for those celebs you talk about above, they'll serve their purpose by keeping the topic alive. And we can hope that some of them will re-distribute at least some of the money downwards. BLM is not the be all and end all of the fight against white supremacy, it's just one contemporary aspect of it, that keeps the topic out there. Like I've said before, certain white racists and their sellout pets have devised really cleaver and subtle ways to make the topic of racism invisible, so this stuff is very important. And the way someone simply just taking a knee upsets so many people says it all......

  16. The bitter experience at the hands of the Indian Govt post partition have led us into a false sense of unity with other 'minorities', be it Muslims or Christians. This while forgetting that both have been equally damaging to Sikhs both pre and post partition. The British tried to transform Harmandar Sahib into a church in the 1800s. Nowadays they have managed to convert so many Punjabis that they formed a Shiromani Church Parbandhak Committee besides building the largest churches in our Punjab and routine desecrations of our faith (see Pastor Harbhajan of Khojewal and others). The turbulent Muslim-Sikh relations throughout the centuries are well known but the pain of 1984 seemingly mellowed down the wounds of 1947 in the minds of many. The current plight of Sikhs in Kashmir, Pakistan (FATA, Pakhtunkhwa or elsewhere), Afghanistan or at the hands of ISIS in Iraq is forgotten or conveniently ignored. Some of us will even go to the extent of linking RAW to the Islamically motivated terror attacks agains Sikhs. We have been opening up our Gurdwaras for their Iftar dinners, azaan & prayers, but cry when our Gurdwaras are converted into mosques (Bhai Taru Singh Lahore and others). We can oppose RSS in everything but support Muslims even when they're converting Sikh (children) to Islam in Punjab (see AISSF declaration few years back), building mosques all over or opening up sharia panchayats in Punjab, India. We can help Muslim (labourers) build their places of worship in our lands but not preserve historical & religious relics and architecture in the same lands (Mata Sundar Kaur Gurdwara in Bajwara, Hoshiarpur was in ruins last time I visited). We have truly become a joke of a nation.

  17. The fact that we still have these so-called "Sikhs" trying to say Sri Dasam Guru Granth Sahib isn't the bani of Maharaj is really saddening. I've actually read a posts by some guy saying he doesn't even read the Dasam Granth parts of our 5 banis in the morning.

  21. This does not set a good presedence for the Afghan Sikh and Hindu community. Because the next time there is an atrocity in Afghanistan and these Sikhs and Hindus ask for help then India will turn their backs on them.

  22. Seeing as this has so many people's panties in a bunch, I'd say that this is probably one of the best ways to protest. And I know in england at least, anyone who tries to highlight racism in society, gets targeted in various ways. So I take my hats off for those who have the balls to protest, but I also understand that a lot of people are too scared, or self-centred to make any protest, despite feeling that racism is pervasive throughout society.

  23. Seeing as sport has such a large audience, it's probably the perfect platform to make political statements. Like Jesse Owens winning the Olympics in front of Hitler and the world. I know football in the UK has had serious issues with racism and rightwing stuff since I was young - it'll be good to rub it in certain people's faces. Taking the knee is not the end of the world. There are lumpen sections of white society here that are determined to ignore the existence, let alone the impact, of racism, both historically (as in colonialism) and currently. It's important to let people know that not all of us are easily deceivable like that. If we can have a minute silence for this and that (which we do here), surely people can take the knee. It's only ar5eholes making it a big issue.

  24. I've heard and read many of these cases, on this forum too. If you're religious and are getting married into a religious family, then make sure that you investigate and find out which "type" of Sikhi the other family are following. I've heard of many cases where Amridharis get married to people who come from families that follow cults like Radha Somais, and these cults then try to force you into their cult. The most recent one I've heard of is my mothers friends nephew, young amridhari guy, had a love marriage with a girl who comes from a radha soami family. A few months into the marriage and he hardly contacts his family now! My cousin who was a foji had a lucky escape! He was about to get married to a divorced Punjabi girl from India living in Southampton. And she asked him what our family believe in, and he said we believe in Guru Granth Sahib ji and the jaggas in our pind (I don't believe in that) and she said her family believe in the Bias wala baba/Radha soami, and that he has to start visiting the dera as well if they get married. He was desperate for a passport, lol, and said yes to her! Luckily they had some disagreements and she decided to ditch him and they never married. He had a lucky escape! It really opened my eye to how these dera/cult members work. Be aware of who marry, or date ...

  26. had a talk with my friend. He told me that before marriage, his saurra used to remain quiet and talk very less. Now he speaks bad about Dasam Granth Ji and khande baate da amrit. He also hates people who eat in sarbloh. He is extremely hankari and claims that no one has ever defeated him in debate.

  27. My friend is an amritdhari nitnemi Singh. He got married an year back. After marriage, he came to know his father in law is a missionary "sikh". He regularly debates with my friend that Dasam Granth is all fake and there is no need for khande baate da amrit. My friend's wife also supports her father. My friend is confused and doesn't want to hv a child in such a family. what shud he do?

  29. These Deras are basically cults, that's why they're so secretive. How do people actually join them? do they just turn up ? I'm guessing some kind of ritual takes place. My chachi is a member of a dera, not sure which one, but she donated all her cattle to the dera! When we were going to Amritsar and crossing the Beas river, it was shocking to see the miles and miles of land/fields that followers had donated to the dera! When Ram Raheem was imprisoned and all his followers were weeping and wailing, a few families from my dads pind hired vehicles and left in the middle of the night, dera followers are very secretive about these things. But news spreads fast in villages and someone saw them getting into the cars and leaving. Politicians obviously need the deras, to influence voting. From what I've read its not easy to leave these deras, a lot of dangerous people are involved in deras and they keep an eye on you. I'm guessing a lot of demonic practices take place, Ram Raheem used to castrate the boys.

  30. Nah, on the real. You need street level guys, you need networks in prisons especially, and other dark places for intel. Believe it or not, a lot of what goes on is planned there. It was Sikhs from these types of backgrounds that cracked open the grooming thing in the 80s. I met them. It's not as simple as you make out. We need eyes and ears everywhere. Even crooks can have codes of honor and be useful. We have antecedents in this going all the way back to Guru Hargobind Ji's time with Bidhia Chand.

  33. Don't know how long 'taking the knee' will continue for. Maybe best to keep the politics out of sport https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57412200 FA chief executive Mark Bullingham has said the booing of England's players for taking a knee is "incredibly disappointing". And he confirmed the governing body is considering releasing a video message in an attempt to tackle the crisis before the team's opening Euro 2020 match. The team were booed before two games last week as they made the gesture to highlight racial injustice. In his first public comments on the controversy, Bullingham told BBC Sport: "We've been clear throughout, this is not a political gesture that the team is making. "They are standing up for equality and they are using a gesture that's been around for hundreds of years and using it just to make a stance against racism. "We're not asking every fan to copy that gesture. We're just asking them to respect it, and we do expect that they should respect it. They should get behind their team, cheer them on, and let's have a brilliant Euros with the country getting behind the team." England taking the knee: Why some fans say they are booing players Ferdinand calls for education on taking a knee after fans boo England With mounting concerns England's opener against Croatia on Sunday at Wembley could be overshadowed by a repeat of the booing, Bullingham confirmed the FA was "looking at what we can do on matchday, including videos in the stadium". He said: "Our general approach with anti-discrimination action is always focused on education, and we need to clarify, so every fan is 100% clear, this is not a political gesture. This is about equality, and we believe once they understand that they will get behind the team and cheer them on." When asked how the FA felt about the Prime Minister Boris Johnson refusing to condemn fans who booed players taking a knee this week, Bullingham said: "We're really clear on our position. "We are 100% behind the players, and we believe that once fans really understand it's not a political gesture there is absolutely no reason for them to boo. They should respect the players and get behind their team in the Euros. England boss Southgate criticises fans who booed players taking a knee "It's definitely not a positive for the players, but we want to move on, get the team fully supported by the fans, get everyone behind them." Meanwhile, Uefa's tournament director Martin Kallen has also given his support to England's players. "I hope they will not be booed by the people," he told BBC Sport. "I think [England] want to make a signal, and we leave it up to the teams to do so." "Of course we are always for fair play… and from our side, it's important that people are respecting other people's minds."
