  1. She said no, twice. How much more clarity do you require? Win the lottery and she might reconsider.

  2. Thought I'd start a thread about books worth reading. They don't have to be Sikhi related. I picked up: Confessions of an economic hit man by John Perkins. Have been told it's a must read.

  3. Proper Bezhti.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-64496456 Jasvir Singh: 'I'm a devout Sikh - and married to a man' Published 8 hours ago Share Image caption, Jasvir and Nick on their wedding day By Aleem Maqbool Religion editor, BBC News Jasvir Singh is one of the most prominent Sikh voices in British public life. He is also gay - a fact that he has kept mostly private until now. It's put him at odds with some members of his own community, but he says he now wants to speak up about his sexuality. Jasvir Singh lays out some photographs on the table in front of him and takes a deep breath. They are pictures of joyful moments from the day last summer when he married his husband, Nick. "I know that speaking about this is going to be highly controversial," he says. "I'm sure there will be lots of people out there who will be upset, annoyed, even angry at me. "But I've got nothing to hide and I know that I have got Waheguru [God] with me, as I have had Waheguru with me all the way." Jasvir is a family law barrister and the main Sikh contributor to Radio 4's Thought For The Day. He has just been awarded a CBE for his work bringing faith communities together and advocating for vulnerable groups. But through it all, he has lived with a swirl of speculation about his private life - often spilling over into attempts at intimidation - that he now wants to address head-on. "There is a very small element of the British Sikh community that makes itself loudly heard. From them I have received death threats for being gay, I have been accused on a TV station of being an infidel and I have even had individuals call me up and threaten to expose me." Though Jasvir says he has not tried to hide his sexual orientation, it is not something he has talked about publicly. Recently, however, Jasvir says he has been confronted by an unsurmountable obstacle that meant he could not live out his faith in the way in which he wanted and in the way others can. "My husband is white, British, and was not born into a Sikh family. But he understands my Sikhi (Sikhism) and he has respected and embraced that part of my life. We have said we want to have a family and want to bring our children up Sikh. "We spoke about the kind of wedding we wanted in great detail, but sadly there was no way of getting married in a gurdwara, even though in my interpretation of the Anand Karaj (the Sikh marriage ceremony), there is no reason for this." .... Jasvir and Nick have just returned from their honeymoon, during which they visited gurdwaras in Punjab and in other parts of India.

  4. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/index.html Does this finally put the mask debate to bed? 'Gold standard' analysis of 78 studies and 1million people finds face coverings made 'little to no difference' to Covid infection or death rates The research - carried out by the Cochrane Institute , the 'gold standard' of evidence-based reviews, looked at 78 global studies involving over a million people. Results indicated that surgical masks reduced the risk of catching 'Covid or a flu-like illness' by just five percent - a figure so low it may not be statistically significant. The researchers said harms caused by masks - including hampering children's schooling - were poorly measured in the studies, meaning any small benefit of masks on infection rates may be outweighed. Professor Francois Balloux, a professor of computational biology at University College London, who was not part of the analysis, said it showed that the benefit of wearing masks is 'at best small'.

  6. 5 paragraphs were written explaining how God is behind everything. You are all Guru’s sangat, if you get something inspirational to read, the Guru is showering his blessings himself. The story is way deeper than x user writing something. I honestly learn things myself reading back after writing. When the mind focuses on the Guru, words can come from within. My comments were intended just like a giani finishes katha by saying anything said is the Guru’s words, for I am not worthy. 4 minutes later this troll had drawn his conclusions and replied to say I am claiming to be the Guru. 4 minutes! He is so target locked on attack mode. Maybe he could try sleeping on things and looking at it with fresh eyes in the morning! Original post was written in our mouj, a tribute to my Satguru, how much he does to help his Sikhs, to encourage you all to make Mool Mantar part of your life so you reap the benefits. Yes my Guru showed me how his pyare leave this world, they also showed how jamdoots unforgivingly beat the life out of people to drag them to hell. I have no reason for sharing such types of posts other than trying to help you, motivate you to jaap naam. I asked a Saint once, doing simran you get feeling of sarbat da bhalla, you want whole world to be liberated. They replied people haven’t got same feeling for you, they’d stab you in the back given the chance. Some people here insult me, judge me, are more interested in trying to guess who I am, speculating things. I don’t judge any of you at all, to me you are just souls I thought let’s encourage. If I do judge you the result is why do I bother, they throw everything back in my face. How often do you think such posts come along? In dhiyan we remembered all of you, let’s write a motivating post for them. 1 person insulting someone in dhiyan is enough for God to take everything away.

  7. There is a book, in Gurmukhi, as well as in English. The nine special features of Sukhmani Sahib, by Guriqbal Singh... Well worth reading, it will clear your doubts and answer your questions! If you do a google search, you can read or download the pdf...

  10. These are the establishment-approved roadblocks and obstacles placed in the path of a Sikh who has designs of reasserting the non-watered-down version of his religion and wishes to assert the rights and independence of his people. They'll use his "own" to try and take him down at first. If he manages to swat away these flies, then they'll send in the big boys from the mainstream power base to test the dissenter's mettle.

  11. Very true. These people are sell outs and would sell their mother for some accolade or award. These were the I.diots involved with Vaisakhi in the Mosque some months ago. These kinds of organisations are just vehicles for dubious sell outs to ingratiate themselves with the British establishment and brown nose in order to get MBEs and OBEs.

  12. Do clarify. Lots of these types of organizations are starting to pop up in america. So i am curious.

  13. Making fun of khalsa? You need to get your facts right. If you wear a turban then shave your beard and eye brows and wear funny clothing and dress sence . Plus act like a fool like I have seen many pagh wale do. Who is making fun out of Khalsa them or me? When you wear a pagh it come with responsibility son. Not wear turban, go clubbing and do all kinds of unmoral behaviours and think you can get away with it coz you have a beard and pagh and think you can lecture mone lol. No one is making fun of the khalsa identity. Which obviously I respect. Which is the proper identity. Proper dastaar not some beani hat and cap over it acting like a lafanga raggamuffin like you. full flowing dhari not trimmed beard or on some occasions no beard at all and trimmed eyebrows with and earing. Sikh network may do some good but I was just asking what the group is about.

  17. I noted that you'll not be killed just as you step off the plane. The point is that Canada is safer than the US. Granted, 99.9% of the time, you'll be OK. It's just that people should not be complacent. On the matter, of California, that's where: A young Sikh gas station attendant was gunned down Two elderly Sikh men, 65 and 78, were killed walking 68 yr old Sikh found dead Sikh man beaten up and hair cut Another 68 yr old Sikh beaten up severely, and Gurdwara defaced And an 82 yr old attacked in Fresno in 2013, outside a Gurdwara So please don't make Sikhs think they're absolutely safe in California. They're not.

  18. Definitely go for USA. Not much in Canada to be honest.

  19. USA arguably has more to see. But, Canada is safer. BC has quite a bit to see. Ontario too with Toronto, Niagara Falls, and Ottawa. Alberta has Banff. Really that's about it.

  20. Guru ji says they are the khalsa and apart of it. While guru ji can be guru of the whole world that does not mean everyone is a sikh. If Ram Rahim claims to be guru of world does not make him your guru right? You can only adopt someone as guru if you live life as they have said in texts. Guru ji clearly gives gaddi to SGGSG according to many sources not believing it and making random fairytales of guru ji living 100? and whatever year is wrong.

  21. Hi I wanted to know how one becomes a nihang in Canada. I am from BC and wondering what the process is especially in western countries. I was also wondering how maryada is kept as well because wearing a bana all the time is hard. Any information will be great.

  22. Is there any proof of these killings? This is all just hearsay no actual proof. If it was true no mahapurakhs would ever be seen with them at all. Im sure you can use google to find so many pictures of all the mahapuraks i mentioned before with Baba Balbir Singh. They might have not gone to his jathedar ceremony but they stand by him now that is what matters.

  23. I have read dasam bani and i think you might be reading it wrong. It is clear that avtars are shown as low and nothing compared to guru ji in dasam bani. Guru Ji does not link us to them but in contrast guru ji tells us these avatars are nothing.

  27. I have some sympathy. The way many apnay parents often minimise contact between genders, it's not at all surprising that many apnay are clueless about commonly occurring female behaviour (i.e. mixed signals - not that blokes can't do the same!) The lack of contact and a lack of being 'educated' about these things leaves one like a lamb to a slaughter! So when the person does experience the powerful pull of attraction, they don't know whether they are coming or going. lol I can't lie, I've been there too. That's why I think it is important for olders (not necessarily parents) to educate younguns about these things instead of leaving them in the dark. Plus he mentions he is 'well educated', that often helps even less because people spend so much time in academic learning (which is no bad thing!) that they don't develop a good grasp of social interaction between genders. These problems are behind a lot of the issues we face as a community such as conversions and grooming.
