COMPLIANT TO OFCOM

On the 26th of Feb 2008 BBC RADIO 4 Broadcast File on 4 at 8pm.The programme was full of slander and complete lies against the Sikh Community,the reporter and producers made claims such as Sikhs have joined hands with Al Qaeda,UK Born Sikhs recieve training at Pakistani camps,lies that Sikh leaders give speeches to encourage militancy and terror from Pakistan over the internet there is no evidence of this on the web,Sikhs were falsely accused of bombing Air India in 1985 no Sikh has been proven guilty for this bombing,Among other lies were that the Sikh Homeland in Panjab is in the midst of a militant insurgency,Sikhs in the UK fund terrorism,UK Sikhs support terrorism through temple funds,Sikhs are forging links with Islamist terror groups,Sikh temples are becoming breeding grounds for Abu Hamza style Extremist preaching,the list is endless,This has had a huge effect on the average public who is uneducated ,Sikhs already get attacked due to mistaken identity after 9/11 .By broadcasting statements like the above:ie:Sikhs are with Al Qaeda this increases the risk of innocent Sikhs getting attacked.Sikhs in no way or shape or form support or fund terrorism and neither are we with Al Qaeda and nor do we receieve any training for any purpose from them,their is no proof that Sikhs have carried out acts of terror as said in the programme these are lies and amount to slander of the UK Sikh Coummunity,we are disgusted by the BBC and at how low their standards have become,and urge OFCOM to take swift action agianst them.

I didn't take your comments personally. The correct term for people like Bassey, Hundal etc is Monai. By no stretch of the imagination can such people be termed Sehajdhari especially as their agenda seems to be to scaremonger amongst the general community in order to advance their careers. If you have a look at Bassey's previous work on the R4G campaign, Hundal's 'asian media' website then you will realise that calling them Sehajdhari is the same as calling KPS Gill a Gursikh!

To add insult to injury THE BBC PLAN TO REPEAT THE PROGRAMME THIS COMMING SUNDAY,SO THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T HEAR THE LIES NOW WILL ALSO HEAR THE LIES.

This is the key, moderators and all I really hope this thread is the longest ever on sikh sangat, due to the importance of it. We really need to make our voices (whatever we have British Sikh Council/ Sikh Federation anyone ) we all need to keep the oil pouring into those rusty wheels and make our voices heard in the public eye. This is our prime hour , let's make the best of it as we can by writing in as advised in this thread. No matter what jathebandi alliance one has this is of utmost importance and could well be the trigger for the upcoming generation for further progress
