Listen, O deluded and demented mind: hold tight to the Guru's Feet.

har jap naam dhiaae thoo jum ddurupai dhukh bhaag

Chant and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; death will be afraid of you, and suffering shall depart.

dhookh ghuno dhohaagunee kio thir rehai suhaag

The deserted wife suffers terrible pain. How can her Husband Lord remain with her forever? ||1||

BweI ry Avru nwhI mY Qwau ]

bhaaee rae avur naahee mai thaao

O Siblings of Destiny, I have no other place to go.

mY Dnu nwmu inDwnu hY guir dIAw bil jwau ]1] rhwau ]

mai dhun naam nidhaan hai gur dheeaa bal jaao

The Guru has given me the Treasure of the Wealth of the Naam; I am a sacrifice to Him. ||1||Pause||

gurmiq piq swbwis iqsu iqs kY sMig imlwau ]

gurumath path saabaas this this kai sung milaao

The Guru's Teachings bring honor. Blessed is He-may I meet and be with Him!

iqsu ibnu GVI n jIvaU ibnu nwvY mir jwau ]

this bin ghurree n jeevoo bin naavai mar jaao

Without Him, I cannot live, even for a moment. Without His Name, I die.

mY AMDuly nwmu n vIsrY tyk itkI Gir jwau ]2]

mai andhulae naam n veesurai ttaek ttikee ghar jaao

I am blind-may I never forget the Naam! Under His Protection, I shall reach my true home. ||2||

gurU ijnw kw AMDulw cyly nwhI Twau ]

guroo jinaa kaa andhulaa chaelae naahee thaao

Those chaylaas, those devotees, whose spiritual teacher is blind, shall not find their place of rest.

ibnu siqgur nwau n pweIAY ibnu nwvY ikAw suAwau ]

bin sathigur naao n paaeeai bin naavai kiaa suaao

Without the True Guru, the Name is not obtained. Without the Name, what is the use of it all?

Awie gieAw pCuqwvxw ijau suM\Y Gir kwau ]3]

aae gaeiaa pushuthaavunaa jio sunnjai ghar kaao

People come and go, regretting and repenting, like crows in a deserted house. ||3||

ibnu nwvY duKu dyhurI ijau klr kI BIiq ]

bin naavai dhukh dhaehuree jio kulur kee bheeth

Without the Name, the body suffers in pain; it crumbles like a wall of sand.

thub lug mehul n paaeeai jub lug saach n cheeth

As long as Truth does not enter into the consciousness, the Mansion of the Lord's Presence is not found.

subadh rupai ghur paaeeai nirubaanee pudh neeth

Attuned to the Shabad, we enter our home, and obtain the Eternal State of Nirvaanaa. ||4||

ho gur poosho aapunae gur push kaar kumaao

I ask my Guru for His Advice, and I follow the Guru's Advice.

sbid slwhI min vsY haumY duKu jil jwau ]

subadh sulaahee man vusai houmai dhukh jal jaao

With the Shabads of Praise abiding in the mind, the pain of egotism is burnt away.

shjy hoie imlwvVw swcy swic imlwau ]5]

sehujae hoe milaavurraa saachae saach milaao

We are intuitively united with Him, and we meet the Truest of the True. ||5||

sbid rqy sy inrmly qij kwm k®oDu AhMkwru ]

subadh ruthae sae nirumulae thaj kaam krodh ahunkaar

Those who are attuned to the Shabad are spotless and pure; they renounce sexual desire, anger, selfishness and conceit.

nwmu slwhin sd sdw hir rwKih aur Dwir ]

naam sulaahan sudh sudhaa har raakhehi our dhaar

They sing the Praises of the Naam, forever and ever; they keep the Lord enshrined within their hearts.

so ikau mnhu ivswrIAY sB jIAw kw AwDwru ]6]

so kio munuhu visaareeai subh jeeaa kaa aadhaar

How could we ever forget Him from our minds? He is the Support of all beings. ||6||

sbid mrY so mir rhY iPir mrY n dUjI vwr ]

subadh murai so mar rehai fir murai n dhoojee vaar

One who dies in the Shabad is beyond death, and shall never die again.

sbdY hI qy pweIAY hir nwmy lgY ipAwru ]

subudhai hee thae paaeeai har naamae lugai piaar

Through the Shabad, we find Him, and embrace love for the Name of the Lord.

ibnu sbdY jgu BUlw iPrY mir jnmY vwro vwr ]7]

bin subudhai jug bhoolaa firai mar junumai vaaro vaar

Without the Shabad, the world is deceived; it dies and is reborn, over and over again. ||7||

sB swlwhY Awp kau vfhu vfyrI hoie ]

subh saalaahai aap ko vudduhu vuddaeree hoe

All praise themselves, and call themselves the greatest of the great.

gur ibnu Awpu n cInIAY khy suxy ikAw hoie ]

gur bin aap n cheeneeai kehae sunae kiaa hoe

Without the Guru, one's self cannot be known. By merely speaking and listening, what is accomplished?

naanuk subadh pushaaneeai houmai kurai n koe

O Nanak, one who realizes the Shabad does not act in egotism. ||8||8||

vahegurooo..they were true gursikhs....look at us ..always fighting and judging each other.....we should really strive to be like them......living in kalyug at the same tiem radiating the love of guru nanak ji ...dhan guru dhan guru piaray

In the realm of karma, the Word is Power.

No one else dwells there,

except the warriors of great power, the spiritual heroes.

They are totally fulfilled, imbued with the Lord's Essence.

Myriads of Sitas are there, cool and calm in their majestic glory.

thaa kae roop n kathhanae jaahi ||

Their beauty cannot be described.

naa ouhi marehi n t(h)aagae jaahi ||

Neither death nor deception comes to those,

jin kai raam vasai man maahi ||

within whose minds the Lord abides.

thithhai bhagath vasehi kae loa ||

The devotees of many worlds dwell there.


krih Anµdu scw min soie ]

karehi ana(n)dh sachaa man soe ||

They celebrate; their minds are imbued with the True Lord.

sach kha(n)dd vasai nira(n)kaar ||

In the realm of Truth, the Formless Lord abides.

One who dies in the Word of the Shabad shall never have to die again; his service is totally approved.

Touching the philosopher's stone, one becomes the philosopher's stone, which transforms lead into gold; remain lovingly attached to the True Lord.

jis poorab hovai likhiaa this sathigur milai prubh aae

One who has such pre-ordained destiny, comes to meet the True Guru and God.

naanuk gunuthai saevuk naa milai jis bukhusae so puvai thaae

O Nanak, the Lord's servant does not meet Him because of his own account; he alone is acceptable, whom the Lord forgives. ||1||
