gurudashere 15
Waheguru Ji Ki Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I received an official statement from 'Mata Sahib Kaur Sikh Academy' regarding the financial situation and structure, I have pasted a copy of the statement below. Guru Roop Saadsangat Jeo The following is a short summary of the financial situation that the Mata Sahib Kaur Sikh Academy is currently experiencing : Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa Waheguru Jee Ke Fateh In July 2008 a loan of 1.2million for two years was taken out with Natwest bank, in conjunction with the purchase of the Mata Sahib Kaur Sikh Academy. With the grace of Akaal Purkh Waheguru and thanks to the Saadsangat not only across the UK, but Worldwide, all the Quarterly repayments to Natwest bank have always been made on time and over 200,000 has been spent on the total refurbishment and additions of the Academy since it’s purchase. This loan agreement expired in July 2010, with the bank (Due to the worldwide financial climate/recession and restructuring of banks) calling in the whole of the outstanding amount of 1.2million. With continous negogiations the bank then extended the deadline for full repayment of the outstanding debt to the end of September 2010. However, with the continous help of the Saadsangat an improved business plan with the addition of a pre-school nursery was submitted to Natwest bank, and thankfully the amount required to restructure the loan agreement was agreed to be 300,000; incorporating a deadline of 31st December 2010, with which the bank agreed. With Guru Maharaj’s beant kirpa a sum of 150,000 has been arranged and this leaves a shortfall of just 150,000. Although the deadline has once again expired, the idea is to forward all the outstanding amount to Natwest bank ASAP, as it is collected, hopefully within the next 14 days; before the case is passed to the Bank’s Recovery Dept, which would make it virtually impossible to secure a deal on the previously agreed terms. This is a humble baentee to all Saadsangat that today on the day we celebrate the pavitar avtar divas of Dhan Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee Maharaj, please, please, please look inside ourselves and with the Guru’s kirpa be brave and give any amount you can to save our true mothers house, always remembering and rejoicing in the thought that our amazing father gave their all for us. sall 14
WJKK WJKF Some like myself may not be able to attend, so please let us know the outcome of this meeting here. I find it completely distressing that from the area where the academy is located, there are also major Sikh businesses and 150k should not be an issue, but it is..somehow.
SevaSingh360 5
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I would like to tell all the well known sikh sites such as SikhRoots.Com and G5Sikhmeida.com, to put this information up about Mata Sahib Kaur Sikh Academy, we need to try our best so more sangat knows, This information is very sad news, we can't let Mata Sahib Kaur Sikh Academy get closed down. khalistan_zindabaad 241
how about the 3 sikh channels and several radio stations, get them to advertise aswell
Popular Post guptkuri 84
For those that are in contact with the people that are incharge at Mata Sahib Kaur Academy, could you please ask them to update their site to include the current finical situation? Because it would really help if people could go on there site and see the issue about funds and also at same time see what great work they are doing. If we do get all major Sikh channels and Sikh websites to raise awareness, we need a place we could send them online or over the phone so they can talk to someone if they need to. People donate more if they can really talk to the people going through the hard time. I know there is a meeting being held but putting more information online would help more people. LIke I am sure people want to know why did they wait so long before bring this to sangats awarness. the amount of money they are short is not pocket change, they should have seen this coming and began raising awareness months before this payment was due, preferablly when the got the first extension.
gurdssingh 115
Just an idea, if the academy representatives approach the sikh tv channelss and other radio stations as mentioned by someone before it will let the uk sangat be aware of this issue. Everyone has been saying only good about the academy so it needs to be saved. How about if the academy requests all gurdware in uk to help out if they can. to ask the sangat attending this weekend to donate like even £1 each would help achieve its goal. If the sikh channels and radio and other media even like des pardes cover the story highlighting the immense good work the academy does the uk sangat would help. Surely uk sangat can raise the required amount if all chip in a little bit. Also if members from sikhsangat.com donate even £10 each that would be enough on its own.18000 + members so like £180000 the academy can be saved. But i think not all are active, but like one bhai sahib said he would donate £1000, so if all that can even donate a £1, £10 or £100 + it will all help.
SSG 17
Mata Sahib Kaur Sikh Academy is one of the most beautiful and blessed gurdwarai in the uk. It should never have to close down. We call ourselves sikhs yet we cannot save one gurughar, not any gurughar but that same gurughar which housed the 11 pavitar saroops of our guru from Bow, Harley Grove. The sevadaars at the academy done an amazing job at the sanskaar of the 11 saroops they even had guidance from the Akaal Takht. Ask yourself were where you on this tragic day? Only a few people can say that they saw our guru when this happened. The 11 saroops where in the academy's sachkand room. The respect and love for the guru was present on the day of the sanskaar. So beanti to everyone don't let this blessed gurughar shut down ! It is our mothers house and we should treat it like their house, there is no point in calling yourself a Sikh of the true guru if you can't even respect your own mother Mata Sahib Kaur Ji... SAVE THE MATA SAHIB KAUR SIKH ACADEMY... Wjkk Wjkf
One Man Army 5
VJKK VJKF Over the summer i spent some time at the academy, and from my first hand experience there, i can vouch for it and say it is an amazing achievement and truely an inspiring place. I think as a sangat we all owe our seva or daswand to help the sevadaars continue with the seva. The place is named after our mother, mata sahib kaur ji, how shameful would it be if such a place had to be closed down because of lack of maya? The things the academy has done shouldnt be overlooked. When the beadbi of 11 pavitar saroops of Satguru Granth Sahib ji happened in the bow gurdwara fire, it was these sevadaars and at this asthaan that the seva of these saroops was done. This asthaan has the biggest sach khand sahib in the UK. The Satkaar taught to the kids is more of a higher level then most of us probably could consider. The kids are learning how to be tyar par tyar gursikhs, they are taught how to do mahraaj sahibs seva, ardas, kirtan, santhiya, and so much more. It is a bright light and amazing prospect for the future and brings hope for our panth. Please do not look at this and consider it to be someone elses problem, hear the benti from these gursikhs, and please donate what ever you can. VJKK VJKF
Aman0001 71
Im not doubting any of the positives written about the academy, but all the positives points written seem to be coming from Newbie Sikh Sangat members, do any of the longer term Sikh Sangat members have any positive messages about the academy? Im happy to donate £100, I just need a bit more proof/convincing.
One Man Army 5
good timing aman0001 ji and a fair point. if you need any info pm me. im not from east london, or have had anything to do with the setting up of the academy, i simply spent some time there in the summer due to a work placement near there. So my experiences are first hand and i left there quite amazed and happy, and came back home telling all the local singhs that we should go there to help out. I think the only way you can appreciate what these gursikhs are doing is by seeing it first hand.

Im happy to donate £100, I just need a bit more proof/convincing. Hi i used to be a long term member but then i forgot my details so i had to re-join! Im 26 years old and i didnt even know what santhiya etc was until recently! Kids as young as 9/12 are learning how to do seva, gatka and santhiya as a direct result of the academy. the fact that the children do the seva there and help run it speaks volumes about the academy. I was there at the meeting and became emotional wen girls and boys spoke up about how it has changed their lives. I onli wish my own parents had taken me to a place like the academy when i was younger. All sangat should give as much as they can to the academy. I dont think it will shut down as no gurdwara has ever shut down due to money problems but this is a test from Mata Ji and god willing we will pass this test and more academies will open up around the country!
