California Singhs, Please Question This Gurdwara

Recommended Posts

Absolute disgrace,

the so called gianis sing ham ghar sajan ayae at his arrival, what a joke.

Such an ardas or ceremony will NEVER be parvaan.

I am posting this not for a slagging match, but to put this to the attention of our Californian veers to get these 'Gyanis' and whatever Gurdwara they come from to answer why it carried out such a ceremony.

*So called Sikh marrying a Muslim in so called Anand Karaj*

sorry you need to chill out. AS far as I can see it is a bollywood song the movie makers have played over the ceremony. Buy I agree 'nihal and sonia', seems very Hindu kind of ceremony.

Read the description. The man is a muslim. They first had a muslim ceremony and then this mock up anand karaj. The video itself is not the issue its the fact that these so called gyanis agreed to conduct this ceremony, even taking maharaj there.

The objection Sikhs should have here is that Sikh kirtanis and Gianis performed a marriage in which a Sikh is married to a non Sikh. As per Sikh rehet maryadha a Sikh anand karaj can only be between Sikhs. A Sikh girl cannot marry a Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist. Originally during the Gurdwara reform movement, the Anand Karaj could only be performed if both the boy and girl had taken Amrit. But it seems over the generations due to weaknesses we have allowed not only non Amritdhari Sikhs to have Anand Karaj but even non Sikhs to be included. That is why allowing one Dhil(weakness) is like a domino effect. One Dhil in rehet will lead to more dhils.

Singho, With so much weakness in rehet in our Panth right now, why aren't we alarmed yet? We need Parchar more than ever to strengthen our Sikh institutions back to the standard of Guru Jee's time. Without that we are all lost. And our decline is just going to continue if we do not do anything about it. Parchar! Parchar! Parchar! should be ringing in our minds like an alarm bell.

Why can't Sikh girls marry non-Sikhs? And can Sikh boys only marry Sikhs?

I dont think it was a gurdwara wedding, its a pisstake. look at guru jis takht- the chandoa sahib. There is no satkaar at all. Thats not a sikh wedding at all. They doing flowers of girl and guy in guru jis hazoori, he wearing sehra etc. Definately find out who these agianis are

because its hukam (command) for sikhs to marry sikhs...as we are a people who dont seek to convert people...its only natural we would like to retain the adherents and families currently in the sikh fold...

As per our Rehit Maryada (Sikh code of conduct), sikh should keep marriage within Sikh community regardless of caste, race, nationality etc..

we are not allowed to marry non-believers, as this affects the sikh population.

well ur r right we dont seek to convert ppl, but sikhi IS a missionary religion, just the problem is the british/hindus during colonial times were worried at the rise of the sikh population, as we had the highest birth rate, also along with musims the most converts, so they try to control sikh popualtion by tryin to numb our missionary work.

safe
