I heard that, that is unbelievable, that they are getting so much money, who would want a bloody government job with all that money they have.

badal has not offered similiar amounts to victims (sikh and non-sikh) of indian aggression, but when the pakistanis kill an indian...

A kashmeri leader made a very good remark, about Sarbjits case, when he said, that a legal court tried sarbjit and sentenced him to death, as with afzal guru, but the indian govt hanged guru caling him a terrorist even though he hadnt killed anybody, and never returned his body, whilst they call Sarbjit , who was deemed quilty of killing 14 people, a "son of india" and pakistan have returned his body.

This is the power of media. The one brave lady in the episode is his sister. From past 23 years , tirelessly she went to from post to pillar to get his brother released .She went to media again and again to create sympathy for her brothers and that's why all politicians are honouring him.

I think the reason why the Indian nation and Punjab in particular over did the honours he and his family received is because for the last 6 years, the media has been reporting this case. Interviewing his daughters, wife, sister. These women would get (understandably) emotional when talking about sarbjit which touched a lot of people. Many people began to sympathize with sarbjit and his family. When he died recently under an obvious revenge attack by Pakistanis, the whole nation got overly emotional for them to the point of giving them such privileges and honours that no other family of any martyr has gotten previously. Even the families of the Indian soldiers who died in kargil or the recently beheaded Indian soldiers did not get this much respect. The media has played a huge role in shaping people's emotions about this case. The politicians are lining up to shower praises and honours on Sarbjit's family for votes.

This is the type of honours genuine Shaheed families should get. The Indian media and government has turned Sarbjit into something he was not.

Bestow Chamel Singh with the title of martyr: Family

Chamel Singh's family, however, contested that he was not involved in spying and had gone missing from his fields adjoining the Pakistan border in July 2008.

On a day when Sarabjit Singh was cremated with full state honour at his ancestral village in Punjab, family members of Chamel Singh said he should also be bestowed with the title of a martyr.

"Sarabjit Singh was killed in the same jail where our father was murdered. The same persons who killed Sarabjit were involved in the killing of my father," alleged Chamel Singh's son, Deepak.

"We appeal to the Centre that our father should also be accorded the title of a martyr," Deepak told PTI.

Chamel Singh, who hailed from a border village of Pargwal in Akhnoor of Jammu, was beaten to death in Pakistan's Kot Lakhpat jail on January 15 this year and his body was brought back here on March 13.

"We are four brothers and are forced to quit education and work for our survival. We appeal to the government to help our family in the same way as Sarabjit's family has been done. Both Centre and state government should think about us," he said.

Chamel Singh, who was about to complete a five-year prison term for his alleged involvement in an espionage case, died in Lahore with reports saying that he was "mercilessly beaten" by Pakistani prison staff.

Chamel Singh's family, however, contested that he was not involved in spying and had gone missing from his fields adjoining the Pakistan border in July 2008.

India has failed to get his autopsy report from Pakistan till now.

"Nearly four months have passed since my father was killed, but till now the autopsy report conducted by Pakistani authorities have not been provided to us.

"We request the government to provide us the report. We also request them to provide us a copy of the report of second autopsy that was performed in Jammum after the body was brought back from Pakistan," Deepak added.
