Is Gurbani Equal To Other Religious Texts

Why is Gurbani different from other religious texts:

1. Gurbani came from Vaheguru and has no duality.

ang 628

This Bani (Gurbani) came from Vaheguru, himself. And this Bani (Gurbani) is the one, which will eliminate all your anxieties. Biggest anxiety a person has is the separation from Vaheguru. So Gurbani will eliminate this biggest one, including all the smaller worldly anxieties.

2. What happens to those who turn away from the Guru?

Guru Sahib is saying, those who have turned away from the Guru, understand this; you will not receive liberation.

Here Guru Sahib is saying, from no one else or path will you find liberation. Ask the one's who contemplates over Gurbani about why you will not find liberation anywhere else.

You will go through countless births because Satguru (Gurbani) did not bless you with liberation, because in the starting of the pauri as Gurbani says you had turned yourself away from the Guru.

Here Guru Sahib tells us how to receive liberation. Attach yourself to the Guru's feet by listening, applying, and practicing the Guru's Bani.

Satguru Nanak Dev ji ends this pauri by saying, whoever reads this Bani, contemplate over what Satguru Amardas Ji as written here and understand, without Gurbani, liberation cannot be received.

3. How do I know Gurbani is the Guru?

Satguru's Bani is the true form. (True form of Akal Purakh and the truth to which we live by). Then Gurbani says, become this Gurbani by listening, understanding, and practicing this true form.

Now let's look at what Gurbani says about other religious texts.

The background to this shabad is, Hindus and Muslims came to Bhagat Kabir ji and both sides were calling each others religious scriptures false. They came to Bhagat ji to ask, which side is right. Bhagat Kabir ji answers there question in this Shabad. Bhagat Kabir ji says, don't call the vedas false or the Koran false. Look into each other religious texts and see what they are saying. The Muslims say, Allah is the only one and there is no other. Vedas say, there is one Brahman and no other. Since both sides have not contemplated over each other religious text, you are false. Yet these Hindus and Muslim, still don't understand and Bhagat Kabir ji goes further. They still want to argue about Allah is great or Brahman is greater than the other.

This is where Bhagat Kabir ji says, there is the one God in everyone, so why do keep killing chickens? If you had recognized there is the one God in the chicken you would not kill it. Bhagat Kabir ji is saying you are stuck in rituals like Halal. Go back to the original teaching of the Koran, which says Allah is the only one and there is no other. This shows Vedas and Koran have duality in it.

Now let's go back to Sri Anand Sahib.

The simitris and sastra only contemplate over good and bad, but they don't know the true reality of Vaheguru.

The true reality of Vaheguru is not know without the Guru; the simitris and sastras don't know the true reality of Vaheguru.

Again Guru Sahib is telling us how other religious texts have duality in them. Only the Guru's Bani is above duality because it came directly from Akal Purakh. The difference between Gurbani and other religious texts is very clear. And please don't quote back to be tuks of Gurbani, where Guru Sahib says, he sees only the Naam in the vedas. Please don't be the Muslims and Hindus Bhagat Kabir ji diagnosed in his shabad. I am well aware of those shabads and have contemplated over them and listened to Satguru's Gursikh katha on it. In short, Guru Sahib is saying, through Gurbani teachings, a person can find the Naam in everything in this creation.

In the vedas the Naam is the highest, yet they don't hear the Naam and they wander around like demons.

A pandit had questioned Gursikhs. If the Naam is the highest in the vedas, what was the need for Gurbani? Gursikhs answered this pandit by doing the correct interpretation. The path of Naam is only achieved (heard) in the Guru's sangat. Very clearly the Guru says right after, these people don't hear the Naam is the highest path. Also in the following pauris the Guru makes it clear, without the Guru liberation is not received.

You are wandering around unsteady and you are blinded by maya because you have not focused on Gurbani.

ang 1126

The Sastra and Vedas keep you attached to the three qualites and blinded by maya, this is all you have completed.

The four Vedas only speak of the visible forms.

The four Vedas only describe the three states (the three qualities).

ang 154

The fourth state (liberation) is only known to Satguru (Gurbani).

Good post ji

All the argument of which religion is best?

Gurbani tell us here that it is not what "religion" it is the action:

Of all religions, the best religion

is to chant the Name of the Lord and maintain pure conduct.

Of all religious rituals, the most sublime ritual

is to erase the filth of the dirty mind in the Company of the Holy.

Of all efforts, the best effort

is to chant the Name of the Lord in the heart, forever.

Of all speech, the most ambrosial speech

is to hear the Lord's Praise and chant it with the tongue.

Of all places, the most sublime place,

O Nanak, is that heart in which the Name of the Lord abides. ||8||3||

In what way were they corrupted? Also please show us were any of the prophets or messengers of God were said to be the True Guru?

Guru Gobind Singh Ji talks about it all in Batchar Natak. He mentions how God made Muhammed master of arabia but he wasn't able to instill the name of god in people. He let his pride get in the way. He mentions how he created the gods and how the trinity in hinduism proclaimed themselves god and omnipotent. How Brahma started calling himself Parah-Brahm and so on.

He talks about how it was then Waheguru called him over and asked him to come to earth to put people on the right path.

The scriptures have small aspects which are true, how much is debatable. But the pride of those who wrote them got in the way of actually creating something akin to Gurbani. That's why many Bhagats after reading them were able to see which parts were aligned with god and which were not. Even though they didn't consider themselves Sikhs they were one with god through other means.

Can you tell me what religion or path bhagat kabir ji took, to become one with Vaheguru?

He was born a Muslim I believe. He did Nimaaz etc as well, but the more he read his scriptures the more he realized where the flaws were. Eventually he considered himself neither a muslim or a hindu. This is apparent in many of his bani as well as his history. So if we're going to figurative then he took the path of god. That's why his bani was added to our Gurbani, even though the Japji sahib, Guru Granth Sahib were all written (physically by our Guru Sahib) much later.

This is as far as I know from History. Obviously if someone who knows more has something else to add, there free to correct me if I have made a mistake.
