Can anyone tell me what is this plonker all about?

Everyone seems to look up to him. Like he is some idol. 

All Ive seen so far of him.

Is dressing like some wannabe hip hop star. Wearing a jumper 10 times to big for him and generally acting like a fudu. His songs are as annoying as his silly face.

why are your personal insecurities and jealousy being vented on a sikhi forum? has diljit ever said for anyone  to treat him as a religous idol? what i do know is... whether he is a 'proper' sardar or not... he has raised the profile for pagg wale mundeh, and trust me we need this.... secondly he has spoken out about 1984 on hindu media, he has made a film about 1984- yes it may not have been the most pro-kharkoo film ever, however it does highlight reality about what happened in some cases - before anyone starts kicking off, go to punjab and do your homework. thirdly, the clothes your dissing, are worth more than your entire wardrobe, so once again dont let your jealousy get the better of you. if you dont like the bloke, then focus on proper sikh role models, our quom is full of great souls ranging from those who did beant seva, simran and shaheediyah.

He is a clean shaven. Is that a role model or raising the profile? His songs are all about chasing girls. He as you mentioned is materialistic and wears clothes so expensive. He is into bling bling and showing off. Can that money not go on feeding the poor in India. or does his ego matter more.

He is a little wannabe rap star and probably insecure one at that.

Is this the best person that modern sikhs have to look up to? He praises hindus and mixes with the hindu Bollywood fraternity. He bigs up salman khan, amita bachan and does films with the kapoors. He is a big joke and embarrassment to Sikhs. Thats why bollywood laps the fool up much  .

But oh he wears a turban so is suddenly great no matter what he does.

I think people like him because he apparently made pagh popular again, maybe he did among some young people in Punjab i don't know but hes songs are popular in Punjab. I don't really listen to Punjabi music but most of them imitate the west and the result is very cheesy and embarrassing. You see a lot kache in the UK walking around with stupid looking tattoos and thick metal chains lol most of that actually comes from the Punjabi singers, you see the same in Punjab too.   What i don't like about Punjabi singers is how they are making a living out of promoting alcohol in a region which is so badly affected by it! Punjabi singers are taking absolutely no social responsibility what so ever but instead are promoting alcohol, gang culture, teasing women, rape etc.  Punjab is in a very bad state today. My thai in India said that your hear about girls being kidnapped and raped in the sher on a daily basis now, yet these people carry on singing about female body parts and forcefully grabbing wrists and waiting outside girl colleges etc.   Media and celebs is the biggest influence among young people today, just look at how females are trying to make their butts bigger by getting butt implants simply because all the trashy female reality stars are getting bigger butts done lol   i remember a few years ago some mixed race girl died because the doctor shoved some sacks of concrete in her butt!     its the same case in Punjab, the "celebs" there have a massive influence among the youth. What  i can't stand is words like "att" "kaim" "ghaint"  that people in Punjab now use because the singers use these words a lot. I'v even heard females using these words when talking.  I hate these cheesy words! i can't stand them! makes me want to punch their faces when they use them lol!  joke!    are they even part of the Punjabi language? i rarely hear anyone use them here in the UK yet in Punjab i hear them left right center.   

Also isn't Diljit a monah anyway?

He runs a charity in India called The Saanjh Foundation which helps children who have no parents amongst others.

He just finished his UK stadium tour, he sold out three arena's, no other Indian/Asian/Punjabi artist has ever done that, i'd hardly call him a little wannabe rap star, the guy is at the top of his game, simple as.

Whatever you personal opinion of the guy, he's made it up the ranks from having nothing to everything, what the guy wears is his own business, it seems like a pretty petty reason to throw hate on someone.

The guys far from perfect but having met him a few times (and knowing the guy that represents him in the UK) there is one thing i'll say about the guy, no matter what you think of his outward appearance he's probably one of the most humble people you will ever meet.

As far as the mohna part, it's pretty common knowledge in Punjab, there's a far few singers who tie a pagh in public but have cut hair, nothing new, no idea why people get surprised by this, it's disappointing yes, but hey, that's life, if you don't like the guy don't listen to his music simple as.

Punjabi music and punjabi films have promoted the punjabi language.
