An interesting note. All the cult deras in Panjab/Haryana were started by former Sikhs.

Recommended Posts

Dera Sucha Soda / Radhoswami / Nirankaris / Namdharis etc were all started by former Sikhs , who all wanted to  change mainstream khalsa and eventually formed into their own religion. So , we have to look at the root of the problem. Ask ourselves, why isn't this a problem in islam, why aren't there 100's of cults started under islam , and then find ways to fix it. The main followers of these cults are always low class / hindoos / dalits . So as I keep saying , if the SGPC keeps ignoring these problems and refuse to convert people into Khalsa , Panjab will just become a land of deras.

Side note = Dera Sucha Soda was perceived to have around 40 million followers in Panjab /Haryana / Rajastan .... 10-20 million more than Sikhism ...... Yikes.

The governments know about the rapes, murders, corruption in these deras. These deras are filthy rich and the politicians must be getting something out of these deras.   Very little is known about what happens behind the scenes at these deras

Bollywood is also ran by gangs(underworld) politicians, businessmen.   Back in the 70s/80s many actresses even got involved with the gangsters and terrorists. basically wherever money is abundant consider it being backed by politicians, gangs etc   and other corrupt involvement

its the same for the filthy rich deras

The SGPC is a jatt dominated organisation as it always has been.

You will find that the folk who usually go to these dera's are sikhs from the 'lower' social groups or castes - due to them being ill treated or not welcome to gurudwaras.

Not true in almost all cases!  It’s the women who flock to these Babeh and their Dereh looking for someone who can uplift their husbands out of Alcholism and Poverty.  When they go to these dereh they usually get low level jobs such sweeping roads and general cleaning of the dera grounds.  So in actual fact they are no better off in terms breaking away from cast related barriers, but their children get free education, medical care and jobs.  Radha Swami Dera in Bias is full of people sweeping the grounds from lower social groups.  Most of these Dera chele and premis etc have had no relationship with Gurughars so this notion of them being pushed away from Sikhi is completely false.  SGPC has definitely failed to unite and uplift poor communities but to be honest in most cases the only Guru and God that the people are interested in is the one who can fill this void so naturally the Baba and Dera will flourish.

these low level jobs such as sweeping etc - could be or would be Seva in most gurudwaras- however if these 'low castes' are denied entry - then quite simply they will go to deras - and do the seva there.

Im mean this the whole reason why we have caste based gurudwaras in the first place - because the equality simply wasnt there - that we so proudly speak of.

I agree with the person that says its mostly women. Women are the ones that go to babeh and then they drag their families in as well. But obviously in today's politically correct society you can't say that, you would just get labelled as sexist. Women are without fault and its wrong to criticism them! but yes they are allowed to bring men down however and whenever they like

i remember once walking through nawanshahr and i saw this "baba" openly giving this woman "treatment"  they were standing out in the open and he was rubbing her breast, tummy, hips etc and she was just stand in front of him with her arms held up!!!    i was like <banned word filter activated> !!

She obviously was a very intelligent lady, Im sure she's achieved wonders for her family after that treatment.

It's pretty known among learned elders that Deravaad and Babavaad start their following thru Bibian.

I don't give a <banned word filter activated> about PC talk, its the truth.

Deras and babeh are like rock stars and like most rock stars they have their groupies.

It just so happens that bibian are the groupies.

No one is denied entry!  The Seva in SGPC controlled Gurdwaras are actual paid jobs not Seva.  The way in which you get these jobs is by paying Waddi (bribe donation) acomapnied by recommendation.  No different to any job or position in Punjab, so in actual fact SGPC is a Business which operates with the same level of corruption as every other organisation.  SGPC controlled Gurdwareh are completely cast free and are open to anyone doing basic Seva but paid Seva (jobs) are acquired with money gifts and recommendation.

It is a fact that the Dera and Baba are very popular amongst women but there is valid reason for this.  The culture in Punjab is very much in the favour of men and more so amongst the lower social classes.  Men go out to work and women pretty much nurture the children and look after the house.  Most men whether from higher social classes or lower have one thing in common which is alcohol and substance abuse.

When a man goes to work with instructions of bringing groceries on the way home but detours to the theka (liquor store) and blows his day wage on booze and comes home drunk facing questions....  You know the story!... domestic violence and deprived children.  No one listens to women or cares in these situations in Punjab and the only people to step in is the Dera and Baba.  In the Eighties women used to go to Sant Ji and drag their men in front of the Singhs and this why Sikhi was growing at such a fast rate. The Dera automatically dies when women’s issues are taken care of and financial issues are mostly resolved when one kicks the bottle.

I agree many women go to babeh/mata's to cure their alcoholic husbands, my mami did the same, but many go for other reasons too. In india people are superstitious, whenever anything goes wrong or not as planned it automatically means that "someones done something" so they go running to these babeh. In gurdwareh and in shrines/tombs people have left plastic toy aeroplanes in the hope that their kids will go abroad! They do matha tek and then leave a plastic aeroplane on the golak. once again all this stuff is done by the ladies. My pathetic mama flew to india under his wife and sister in laws advise and built a snake shrine because some snakes ghost was angry and haunting everyone!

These days its not just babeh but there are many mata's too

Agreed!  Too much superstition and the nonsense rituals to go with it.  A lot of it has to do with low literacy and backward customs.  In the West these type superstitious beliefs in witchcract and ghosts etc were prevalent about 100 years ago and as people beacame more literate these beliefs vanished.  You rarely hear of this nonsense in developed western countries but always hear of nonsense UFO sightings and Alien encounters.  Basically the West is full of Aliens and the South East Asian countries are full of Ghosts and God like holy men.  When you start hearing of UFO’s in Punjab you can safely say that the people are now literate but are now wackos who are still lacking in the truth.  When the UFO sightings vanish maybe then we can say that people are now slowly becoming Sikh like and see the whole bigger picture in regards to creation and the creator.
