MisterrSingh
Did they start out corrupt or were they compromised along the way? The answer to this question opens up a few interesting areas of discussion.

Their diehard brainwashed supporters are going to continue defending them, cultivating an animosity for the Akal Takhat and similar official institutions. Another schism develops that serves to weaken us. This is all out of the old Communist subversion playbook.
Guest
I remember the excitement in my family about visiting the deewan of Sant Dhadrianwale some 16 years back, when I had barely started college. He had come to mumbai and had a big deewan. Me , my mom dad went there. I remember his signature style of getting sangats to lift their arms in sky lol. It was an evening deewan and I think we had langar there as night meal and came home lol. I have vague memories of childhood of visiting various samagams and seeing the sant baabe issue colourful magazines, as quite a number of families in our neighborhood were sikhs, one particular big family very religious or a pretense actually. most of their kirpans went missing from their bodies long back lol.

People came from hours away and from all the different Gurudware. Had to have the diwaan outdoors with panjab style bhandal/tents. It was very exciting and uniting. His katha/kirtsn was emotional and not that bad. 4 hours ago, MisterrSingh said: Did they start out corrupt or were they compromised along the way? The answer to this question opens up a few interesting areas of discussion. Well dhadrianwala always had issues with his colorful chole and women bowing down to him. In fact his colorful dastaars started his downfall with the back n forth with dhumma. I mean to be attacked by your own fellow sikhs would make anyone question their loyalty and faith. We did ask him how he became a parchaarik. He said he was a sickly child who was left at sant ishar singh jis diwaan. (If my memory is intact) And so he was raised in this parchaarik lifestyle. Also fame + youth is never a good combo. And there is an element of the occult in even sikh deras. Lots of people use gurbani to get occult powers and worldy wishes. There was a case of a baba running off with someones wife in CA. And the wife was in some kind of mental fog/ not right mind. I have even heard among parchariks that do this much kamaii in order to become famous. Thats not necessarily bad but then these ppl who did bhagti to become famous and gain followers, dont really have the wisdom or tyaag to handle the riches and fame. Also ive noticed what is happening in society also effects us sikhs. So like the vatican has the pink lobby made up of the gay people in the priesthood. I hope this was it for sikhs and hopefully its been nipped in the bud. And the LGBTQ and pedophilia hasnt gained ground in the deras like it has in the catholic church.

If a so-called spiritually attuned individual is prescribing the pursuit of fame as a career choice, even if the method is via an initially noble yet obviously superficial religious instruction, that person will eventually fall flat on their face. It may take time, but it will eventually happen. You cannot cynically use Gurbani as a wealth and fame generator particularly if you don't practice in private what is preached in public. The Piper has to be paid.
Premi5
Dhadrianwale Baba seemed to be attracting a lot of positive interest 10-15 years ago. What changed ?
