I hope Punjabis have woken up to the reality of these "punjabi" Bollywood actors. Akshay Kumar has made a career out of playing the role of a Punjabi in his movies, Singh is King, then the sequel, Saragarhi, Namaste London etc. The shameless Deols made a career out of portraying themselves as "Punjabi gabroos" the "he-men of Bollywood"  Sunny Deols biggest movie is Gaddar, a movie set in Punjab 1947, the movie saved his career.

Now these celebs have shown what they really think of Punjabis, and where their priority is.

I wonder how much political influence Dharmendras second wife Hema Malini has over the Deols. She is a BJP politician and Modi fan girl. She spent years campaigning for BJP.

She's a very rude woman and has been in the news many times for her bad behavior. Her driver ran a little slum boy over and the kid died, yet this arrogant woman got most of the news stories because of her injuries, the poor kid that died only got a mention.

The amount of importance that these arrogant celebrities are given in India is ridiculous. The public worship them, they are like living Gods. Honestly idol worship has destroyed Indians. Its gotten to their heads.

The Bollywood actors of Punjabi origin only remember their Punjabi roots when it suits them.

Wonder how many of them have been blackmailed (by GOI /secret services) for something-they did  in their past, hence they have no choice but to follow orders ?

how strong is the ‘mafia’ in India, do they /GOI control most of these ‘celebs’?

Probably the Indian equivalent of Jeffrey Epstein inviting these celebrities over to his sprawling compound, offering them underage kids, and then filming the results for blackmail. Jaffar Ekta? ?

Interesting article on it, not sure how old it is.

MUMBAI, Jun 13 (Reuters) - Hitmen shooting police informers, mafia bosses collecting protection money from Bollywood actors and producers -- it could be a movie script.

But the rise in criminal activity in India's financial hub is all too real and it has police and other officials worried that India's notorious mafia gangs have regrouped.

Over a decade ago, police eradicated mafia gangs from Mumbai after a series of bombings in the city in 1993 -- blamed on the underworld -- killed 257 people.

But judging from a spate of recent crimes -- including the shooting of a police informant in a crowded bar two weeks ago -- the mob is back.

This time it appears to be a new generation of young mob bosses bent on making a name for themselves who are trying to cash in on a property boom in Mumbai and a cash-flush Bollywood, the world's largest film industry by ticket sales which is headquartered in Mumbai.

"The level of underworld activity has gone up in the past few months," said S. Hussain Zaidi, who authored a book on the 1993 serial bombings.

Besides known mafia dons who terrorised Mumbai in the past, younger gangsters have risen to fill a vacuum created after a determined campaign by police forced the old mob to lie low.

Now, Mumbai's notorious mafia -- said to be remote controlled by bosses based in Dubai, Karachi and Malaysia -- is reviving itself, police say, as gangs find it difficult to resist the spoils of India's booming economy.

Mumbai has been in the thick of a national real estate explosion with new shopping malls, apartment blocks and entertainment plazas being built over the last three years.

For Bollywood, the past two years have been its best ever with filmmakers making huge profits and actors bagging enormous fees.

Last month, a mob boss boasted on a national television channel that three Bollywood personalities, including two top filmmakers, were on his hit list because they were refusing to pay him protection money.

Police say they have arrested at least five assassins on contract killing missions in recent months and received an increased number of complaints of extortion calls.

Two weeks ago, a young man was shot dead in a crowded bar, the latest among several police informants killed recently.

"Let's not generalise, but there could be some more instances of criminal activity than the previous years," Mumbai's police chief, D.N. Jadhav, told Reuters. "There are some particular cases where the underworld activity has come to our notice."

In the 1990s, Mumbai, then known as Bombay, faced a tide of mafia killings, abductions and extortion demands with rich builders and Bollywood being the prime targets.

But during a decade of violent confrontations, police busted hideouts and shot dead at least 350 suspected gangsters, breaking the back of gangs and sending mobsters on the run.

TURF WARS

This time, the problem has compounded because younger gangsters are increasingly trying to establish their turf and grab a share of the booty, Zaidi said.

"They want publicity. They want people to know them, fear them. And they are preparing to take on the bigger dons."

While the Bollywood set has always been an easy target, gangs are now attracted by Mumbai's property business, one of the hottest in the world where real estate prices equal those in New York or Tokyo.

The mafia's nexus with Mumbai's builders and Bollywood is a badly kept secret.

While some builders turn to gangsters to secure prime real estate, settle disputes and even bump off rivals, many Bollywood producers have borrowed money from the mafia and even used it to entice box-office actors to perform in their films, police say.

Realising the kind of big money involved in both the construction and the movie industry, the mafia has even began bankrolling projects.

The police began cracking down on Mumbai's mafia after the 1993 bombings in Mumbai, India's worst, which were blamed on a Muslim crime boss and India's most wanted man, Dawood Ibrahim.

The bombings, police say, were to avenge the demolition of an important mosque by Hindu zealots and the subsequent riots between Hindus and Muslims.

After the attacks, Mumbai's authorities hit back, giving a free hand to a specialised team of crime-busters who worked informers and wielded their guns to administer justice.

But police raids have lessened in recent years following allegations that some specialist crime-busters took mob money and routinely killed gangsters, often claiming the killings happened during non-existent gun battles.

Some officers were suspended, investigations were launched against others and shootouts were discouraged.

"An officer will now think twice before firing," said a crime branch officer who did not want to be named.

"This has emboldened criminals."

    • lol dal panth Panj told me explicitly not to associate with Vadhbhag Singh Sodhi followers!
    • We have lamp (or Jyot) the pure unscented candle for a reason. Traditionally, Patis used candle light (jyot), so they could read SGGS in darkness. Light, elec didn't exist. Dhoop is used to attract the "Good spirits" but also keep freshness where Maharaj will be.  Interestingly and coincidentally I heard Sakhi a few dsys ago. During Dasa Pitha's time these souls were roaming the Earth and even Sangat noticed. Maharaj asked them "y u here?" They replied during recitation of SGGS and making Degh they didn't bother lighting candle. THAT WAS THEE ONLY REASON NO GATI WAS GIVEN TO THEM!!!  AUTHENTICITY NOT CHECKED I heard once on YT like 2 days ago.  If u apply dhoop in one room of your house twice a week u will notice a difference esp in the smell and freshness of that room.
    • Sangat ji, With the hot weather as per Guru's Hukm, how can we look after our kes?  First of all the beard! Working in Construction, factory and any other heated environment I UNDERSTAND! At my workplace it's over 32 degree celcius and sometimes we have to lift 20kg ALL! DAY! My tips, regularly shampoo the beard during ishnan. APPLY OIL! The technique of applying oil is by rubbing it thoroughly in the roots. Pay attention to the noise esp on the chin. You will hear this "crosh crosh" noise. Keep rubbing oil until u can't hear it no more! This means the oil has blended in properly.  Second tip on beard, keep an extra kanga in your pocket. Every two, three hours give your beard a proper comb down to get rid of any sweat or stickiness. SECOND BENEFIT! Do this all 12 months every single day your beard will look like it's been professionally groomed. TRY IT! People will ask you "What gel u use? How can yer beard be naturally like that?" You can say all I use is coconut oil or whaeva oil but just comb the beard every 2-3 hours for a minute.  As for the kes, morning time get rid of all the gronjra (or knots - forgotten English word), in the morning. However, during evening comb down make sure you get rid of small remaining gronjra and comb yer hair nice and straight. You will feel soooo so relaxed. Yes our hair will go unnoticed due to Dastar, but our hair demands time and self grooming! So proper combing down, spending a good 15-20 mins most evenings is an absolute MUST!  Most evenings I let my hair down and cover hair with my parna for 2-3 hours so it gets to relax from the tying up.  FINAL TIP! We are Sikhs so we keep fighting and remember this! The tradition of Dastar and uncut hair started in India, where the weather is twice as hot. Everytime we bring this thought in the mind, Guru ji will bless us and make us feel cooled down by a notch.  Fateh.
    • Been so much nindya and attacking Shastarvidiya since the 2000s, however if we look at gatka now it's still mostly as poor and poorly taught as it was back then, still morris dancing moves and still behzti moves in BBC shows about sikhi and vaisakhi. If people were going to attack shastarvidiya, wouldn't have made sense to improve gatka instead and make it more effective? Additionally, the Nihang Singh presence has improved greatly now, and the cracks within the the SGPC and affiliated jatha jathebandis are showing more greatly as panth becomes more knowledgable with dasam bani and itihas day-by-day, so much gyaan which was lost within panjabi sikhs during colonial times. In the 2000s, the groups were able to talk down this bani and  gyaan by associating it with  RSS and hindus, brahminwaad etc. Not working so well now is it? However with gyaan it would be also good for us to try and preserve our martial arts and keertan vidiya as well! More and more crazy keertan videos are coming out from jatha members that are being made fun of and making sangat annoyed and upset, on tiktok and instagram reels.

Being from Punjab, almost every Sardaarji i know (amritdhari or not) sleeps/showers with their hair uncovered. I don't think Guru Sahib asked us to wear Dastar to sleep and I don't think it is in SRM.   The idea of "keski being worn to sleep" is cos in Bollywood films (Bachna Ae Haseeno) Sikh characters usually tie a gol parna when sleeping since the actor's usually Hindu. So they gotta cover his head somehow or he'd have cut hair. Same reason Diljit wore a pagg to bed in the El Sueno vid. Only time they didn't do that was in Gadar with Sunny Deol which just looked odd tbh   What in the world? What sikh or even a decent human would base their knowledge of their culture or religion on a movie industry, that too Bollywood?  Believe me, no sikh ever said, I must cover my head becasue an actor did so in a movie. I've been doing it all wrong, I must start covering mh head because the sikh in that movie did.  Just because every panjabi and sardaar you know, does something, also doesn't make it right..  Follow the guru. And if you have a medical condition, then exemptions can be made.  Just admit it, because of my medical condition, I am not able to follow this rehit. Why are you getting everyone else to drop to your level?
