My thoughts immediately are this has nothing directly with Sikhi, but thanks for posting it !

I don't think we need to be associated with stuff like this as Sikhs, it just adds to the 'clownish' image

I guess the real essence of Panjabi music is long gone, now it's just cars, exotic locations, skimpy clothing, hip-hop dancers, Gucci and the most obvious, fake views. Panjabi singers these days also have an obsession of collaborating with black artists/western rappers and normalise things like smoking in videos.

Don't forget how this industry has done more than any other thing to make casteism worse in the panth.

I don't mind creative fusion and I appreciated some of Panjabi MCs earlier work. But where it's gone now.....

I should get this down so people know:

When the original 'bhangra band gigs' started in the UK, people would pack them out. Plus you know how apnay will drink. So a fortune was made all around. By venues (for hire and enormous bar sales) and by people who were known in those days as 'promoters' through ticket sales. 

Very quickly other communities twigged on to this. And then you had a bunch of sullay promoters doing this making a killing off our lot too. They'd hire our own lot to sell tickets. People in Canada/US need to be aware of this.  Looks like it's happening already judging by recent posts on the thread.

Also, later, some of the labels that put out artists were owned by guess who....

The other thing is, if we manage to make the bhangra-disease disappear, we have to have a alternative for people in the vacuum that will follow.

How can we stop this menace? They make it because it sells and earns them money. Money is their god. They dont care about anything else.

We should have some sort of movement where we boycott this music and support clean lyrics/videos as a community. Don't think it will catch on since many of our people consume this music and singers use fake views to get into trending pages. 

These Panjabi singers indirectly pay females to dance/make reels on their songs so they get popular.

Firstly it wont happen overnight. The problem itself has been growing since the late 80s. 

Ridiculing it as we are now is an important step. Within social interactions with apnay, this also need to be done (subtly!)

Personally I believe mothers have a massive influence on their kids (more so than fathers often). Females as mothers/aunties/older siblings need to school and indoctrinate as many younguns as they can in a tactful way. They have to be extremely careful not to come across as fuddy-duddys though, because this has a 'cobra effect'. (Look that up!) 

Women need to tell their men outright what they think of their casteism, and challenge it. They should avoid blokes of this ilk too if possible. 

This has to be subtly and not excessively if it will cause problems in your family.
