Sat Sri Akal:

Depending on the stubborness of the the company, this could be a very short campaign or a long one. Let us see what the next couple of days brings in results. If it is nothing positive, then Sikh organizations, AS WELL AS the other organzations of other religions being made light of, should be contacted to participate in this campaign. This abomination is not only being done against Sikhs, but other religions too.

Whats wrong with the thong?

A Khanda is NOT one of the 5 K's, therefore is not assosciated with Khalsa or "baptized Sikhs".

All it does is have a Khanda logo on it, whats the difference between that and having a Khanda on your t-shirt? Oh Wait, its on the underwear, something all of us will probably NEVER SEE! OH NO OH NO, BUT SHE'S NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR IT.

It's a piece of clothing, and if your going to say "But its not even a kacherra", than why dont u try to ban all the other thongs that are on sale. Girls wear thongs, get over it, hopefully they change. THis is a thong with a logo on it, just as another piece of clothing with a logo.

Alteast the location of this khanda, none will be able to see.

Stop sweating such minor things.

Really lousy way to put it veerji.. im sorry .... but that was a really dumb response...

A KHANDA is a very important aspect of the SIKH religion, a

nd having it on such 'thongs' is very inappropriate....

.... i suggest you rethink what you said and do more research on what is a khanda...

bhul chuk maph! ^_^

Who are you to say what is inapproriate and what is not?

I think a Khanda on a thong is MUCH MORE acceptable than a Khanda on an AK47.

An AK47's sole purpose is to kill other human beings or animals.

Yet, you dont complain when some Sikhs during the 80s put Khanda stickers over their rifles.

Matter of fact, most of us thought it was "cool".

What about putting stickers on Cars? Cars that emit so much fuel damage to this Earth, Wahegurus Creation. Cars that get in accidents and kill other people.

No one complains then, but a THONG, a MERELY HARMLESS THONG.

Jesus Christ guys.

Don't you guys have something better to do than this.

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

We have just spoken with the company (cafepress.com) and they have basically said that their policy "allows for religious satire (ie christian satire) and religious things as long as they are not hate speech."

We have told them that to us this is EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE and is HATE SPEECH. Basically they said this shop owner doesn't seem to be purposefully engaged in hateful speech.

We told them that the wording under the product is also offensive due to the fact that pre-marital sex is against our religion.

We told them that an email campaign is already underway and that other Sikh organizations will be contacting them via phone, email and fax if they do not remove it.

And we also mentioned as a last resort organizations such as Sikh Coalition will be contacted if legal recourse should be necessary.

At first he seemed stubborn, but after mentioning the last point he said he will look into it further today and speak with others in his department on the matter.

We will see what happens today. If it isn't removed we can start a campaign.

WHAT? ohmy.gif

Its degrading the Khalsa symbol, if some gora comes in front of you wearing that thong, and mocks your religion, and degrades you on the spot, I guess you're not going to do anything about it and take it like a sheep right?

You obviously think Guru Gobind Singh ji picked up the sword to deliver justice and he was wrong for killing? An AK-47 has no symbolism in Sikh history, the kirpan is a symbol in Sikh history, and represents something, but none the less they are both shasters and should be given utmost respect. Go read some history and stop wasting everyone's time.
