Could someone please tell me why we use "Dev" when reffereing to Guru Nanak Dev ji, Guru Angad Dev ji, and Guru Arjan Dev ji and not the rest of our Gurus? Or is "Dev" an actual part of there names, if so, what does it mean. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh I am curious to find out why there are double occurances of some bani. Some by the same Guru Ji and some by one Guru Ji and then further in the chain. 1. Sohila - Guru Nanak Dev Ji on page 12. and then Sohila on page 157 under Raag Gauree. 2. Shabad - pavan guroo paanee pithaa maathaa dhharath mehath Ist occurance on page 8 by Guru Nanak Dev Ji IInd Occurance on page 146 by Guru Angand Dev Ji There is a small difference on page 146. Just curious to find out, why the bani is represented in this way. Is there a particular significance in this. Thanks Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

What should I do to make waheguru listen to me? Somebody told me I should do certain number of Sukhmani Sahib Path and waheguru will definitely fulfill my wish but nope, nothing happened. I have started to feel that more good you do in your life, more you suffer.

I am confused, this is a underrated event in history where Jathedar Baba Sahib Singh ji Kaladhari was kicked out of Sri Akal Thakt by SGPC, there are so many accounts of it.He is said to have been ousted with Kartar Singh Chibbar and SGPC using bibian to abuse him and he is said to have been hurt badly. The SGPC have a totally different account of them being intoxicated and taking over Akal Thakt even other Nihang jathedbanian joining in. Who were the baddies? And is it true Baba Sahib Singh Ji support shastar puja and that's why there were differences between him and SGPC? What contributions did nihangs actually make during british raj as he said to be patriotized by nih…

Why was the First Son made a Sikh In May 2004 Manmohan Singh became India's Prime Minister. When a person becomes PM it is natural for papers to show pictures of his immediate family. Mumbai's papers showed his brother, Surjit Singh Kohli and father K Kohli. I wondered! This meant that the PM's surname too was Kohli (caste Khatri or Kshatriyas) but for some reason he had decided to omit it. People called him India's first Sikh Prime Minister. This confused me even more because neither did my next-door neighbor Vikas Kohli sport a turban nor was he a Sikh. When I asked 74-year-old Punjabi mother about this contradiction she said in Punjab there was a tradition where the …

Why did we loose west Punjab ? The answer is simple we were then a weaker philosophy . Like the West Punjabis, Sindhis and kashmiri who are part of the lost races of Indian sub contient civilization. The EAST PUNJABIS ( in contrast safeguarded their land where Punjabis culture flourishes and its roots continue to nourish all the NRI Sikhs till today.) :TH: As to why did the west punjabis punjabis loose to Islamic civilization there are several reasons. 1) Lack of adequate appreciation of an enemy who operates over centuries and does not carry out battle over a short period. Since 1400 AD onward for last 600 years Indian civilization has been battling the…

This question has been in my mind right since I am reciting bani . Mool mantar is the best example of saying what I want to say . ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ || If we literally read mool mantar , it would be like :"EkOankar satinamu karta purakhu nirbhao nirvairu akaal murati ajooni saibhan gur prasadi . Note , that this is not how we read mool mantar . We recite it as "EkOankar satnam karta purakh nirbhao nirvair akaal murat ajooni saibhan gurprasad" Why is there sihari in ਸਤਿ , if we are not going to pronounce it as "sati" .?Why is there aunkad in ਨਾਮੁ , if we are not going to pronounce it as "namu" ? This is the case t…

I have studied many different religions and have found that lots of the different religions have the same core principles but different actions and ends. If we stay singular in this world instead of coming together, many regretful things may come about and already are. We all have a purpose in this life and we have to know how to fulfill that purpose. If we close or mins to think that anyone else may be just as correct as we are then we miss out on several opportunities if pre happiness by enjoying the qualities of everyone leading to racism ethnic cleansing and wrong action in general. Everyone had something to offer in this world and we have to open or minds and or …

Why we say, “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh” The message “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh” is to be conveyed whenever two Sikhs meet each other. Guru Gobind Singh Ji has said, “My face will be towards that person who says it first. My back will be towards that person who says it afterwards. I will be in between both of them, if both of them says it together.” Hence, in order to spread the message of brotherhood, we should say Fateh together. The traditions set by Guru Sahibs, whether they are documented or not can be derived from Gurbani, provided we try to go in the depth of Gurbani. However, we are no body to alter, modify, change, and add in th…

So in these days, I am listening to katha by Sant Variyam Singh jee, got mp3 cd from somewhere. So playing in car during my average hour drive here and there daily. It will take me a while to finish listening it, but thats all right. Slow dose of wisdom is probably better than nothing or overload :-)) So Sant jee is talking about the Gurbani tuk that if you meditate on waheguru for just a second from your heart fully concentrated on vaheguru, you could get the giyan even if you are Chandal (I guess whose business is to kill people, whose earnings come from that, seems pretty much to me, like jalaad). So this chandal somehow ends up in the sangat of Sadh. And Sadh says yo…

It states in Rehat that one should not gossip about others. It's interesting how much people spread rumours especially about Prophet Muhammed. Sometimes it's "He murdered the true prophet," or "He was indecent towards children" or "He got his ways by lying, murdering and cheating..." QUESTION! Were YOU present to witness all this? Is this written in the Quran or any other trustworthy historical scriptures? If yes PLEASE CORRECT ME IF AM WRONG! If not then, like all slanders, this too is heresay NO evidence. Many people laugh and quickly take this to be the truth! Just because they heard it/ hear what they wish to hear and believe it. Unfortunately I too have fallen …

WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Heres some good reasons copied n pasted from: http://www.realsikhism.com/faq/turban.html Q: What is the purpose of turban? Why do Sikhs wear turban? A: The covering of hair with turban was made official by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of Sikhs. The main reason is to preserve the Sikh identity. Sikhs are only 2% of India’s population, if Sikhs do not wear turban, they would be lost in the crowd of Hindus and Muslims. No one will be able to identify a Sikh. Upon establishing turban as a Sikh identity Guru Gobind Singh Ji said, “My Sikh will be recognized among millions”. In addition, the people from high class wear t…
