waheguru jee ka khalsa! waheguru jee kee fateh!! may of 2003, i started to wear bana all the time...to school, work, shopping EVERYWHERE...and then after about a month i started to realise that i was getting a lot of hunkaar out of it. I was wearing bana for WEARING bana, because it was such a huge thing to do for anyone. I would walk into class and i would think to myself "wow i'm wearing bana, way to go sandeep kaur!" so after a while i just stopped wearing bana because i wasn't getting anything out of it but hunkaar. But, not too long ago i started wearing bana again. And this time i didn't start wearing it for WEARING bana, i wore it because i didn't feel like putti…

So basically, I've recently taken Amrit two days ago away from my family and there finding it so hard to accept what I've done. Making me feel quite guilty about it. I don't regret the taking of Amrit but I may have rushed the decision when thinking about wearing the Dastaar. I understand its a huge huge step, but I feel like it's making me fall into a state where I don't want to leave my room, because I'm being judged. Although I should feel proud, I don't think I'm ready to wear the Dastaar, dishonouring Waheguru I fully understand. But it's knocking me down quite a bit; any suggestions or advice from anyone would be good please. WJKK WJKF.

Is it wrong to wear khalistan or never forget 1984 shirts/hoodies in gurdwaras? because I was wearing a never forget 1984 shirt last week and this guy told me to wear a jumper over it as he once got told off by a old guy for wearing a shirt with never forget 1984 on it. The old guy apparantly told him that he was doing major beadbi by bringing political issues into gurdwara :umm:

Does anyone know about the religious rights to wear kirpan in public, most likely in colleges/univ... (California state) ? I heard about several cases that allows californians to wear kirpan in colleges and many public areas.. Does anyone know where to get the offical backup materials on this subject ? Would be a great help.. thankx

waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh Is it possible to wear kirpan openly in Canada, that is, not beneath one's clothing? If so, is this routinely practiced? In the UK, I've often worn it openly but in some circumstances had this partly covered e.g. over the clothes but partly wrapped by a cummarband along the waist. Sometimes beneath a sleeveless vest type jacket with half of it dangling at my waist. I've never experienced any problems and dealt politely with the odd racist. I've spent several years doing humanitarian work in the developing world and have never had to conceal my kirpan at any time. However I'm now moving to Canada and am apprehensive about publi…

Given the fact that meat is forbidden in gurdwaras, should we not also ban the wearing of leather shoes and clothes to gurdwaras? Is it right for people to sit in front of the Guru Granth Sahib wearing cowhide on their person? It is the skin of an animal - surely, it is wrong to where it in the Guru's house. For footwear, there are many alternative options, such as rubber sandals, plastic shoes (e.g. Crocs) and trainers. I am interested in the views of my brothers and sisters.

In tankhanama by bhai nand lal ji it says a gursikh should not wear red? Why is this? I read how red also symbolises evil thoughts and attachment and love for the world in gurbani. So are we supposed to take this literally?

Good Day to you I am an ex Royal Marine. On one of our ex service websites it has been pointed out that a young Sikh lad is going through training at the moment. The question has been posed on our site about what he does when required to wear a steel helmet or a gas mask for example. Can he remove his turban under such circumstances, or what can he do ? Hope you can give me some information on the subject. Thank you Edward McGinnis ---- Please send the information to contact@sikhsangat.com and we will forward your message to the person with your contact information (ex. email address)
