  1. Good to see you don't classify Bieber, Mars, etc., as music. The first step is identifying the problem and you've done that, so well done. :biggrin2:

  4. Khalsa Ji. The best explanation of nindya and the importance of refraing from nindya that I was given was that: When we slander/slag someone in order to make them look small and ourselves big then that is nindya. When a Nitnemi person does nindya then the phall {fruition} of that days Nitnem gets passed onto the person being slandered. When a non-Nitnemi person does nindya then he/she carries the burden of the paap phall of the person being slandered. Talking about current events or what is happening around us is not nindya as long as our intention is not to make ourselves look better than anyone else. It's nindya when we aim to belittle someone else. When a friend engages in wrong doing then take them to one side and try to explain to them the consequences of their actions. If the person continues with their wrong doing do not do their nindya , do ardas that Waheguru shows them the error of their ways. Waheguru.

  5. Why is Shastar Puja done? Its to understand how powerful shastar are and their ability. Satguru taught us to respect shastar because of the shakti they contain. They are our Saints because Saints can give life and take life. Shastar can take a life in a second and shastar can give life. We are not Hindus who fight because it is our Varna, we are not Muslims where we see others as kafirs, and neither are we Jains or Budhhist. Satguru draw a fine line on where the Sikhs stand on the use and respect of shastar. Putting Shastar on a Palki, bow and reciting Gurbani is not wrong. But go to the next step and understand how to use these shastars. A thing to keep in mind is that shastar are NOT weapons. Anything in this world can be used as a weapon. A pen can be used as a weapon (literally speaking, not metaphorically). I don't believe there is a word for shastar in the english language. Don't make shastar into weapons and don't make shastar into idols; keep, respect, and use shastar as shastar.

  6. Two simple steps: 1) Be true to yourself. Judging from your post, it seems you're not being entirely truthful even to your own self...which can lead you down to a long, dark and deluded path. 2) You have to want to change whatever you feel is necessary for a change. Without that wantonness, it's almost impossible.

  7. what I don't understand is, Sikhs in 1700 and 1800 would have gone ballistic if an extra granth had been added which did not belong to the Guru, so why only in 2012 does dhunda appear from nowhere and try to change everything when no one in the past had any problems. for dhundas statement to be true - all of the sikhs since 1700 up until now where all wrong, including all the shaheeds, bhai mani singh, baba deep singh and bhai sahib bhai randhir singh and sant jarnail singh khalsa , baba harnam singh rampurkhera valey, and pretty much every other chardio klaa singh and sant in the last 300 years...... they were ALL WRONG - and dhunda the great parcharak is right ! ALSO, how many shaheeds in last 300 years that did not beleive in dasam granth? erm.... none ALSO, why does DHunda keep propagating this myth of barabar(equal) parkash to all the anjaan people to get them on board, no one has ever done barabar parkaash with Guru Granth Sahib Ji, actually dasam granth is always parkash lower. if that is wrong then no Gutkey should be placed around Guru Granth Sahbi ji either, and also when the granthi is doing paath from a gutka on tabeya, he has the gutka in his hands higher then guru Granth Sahbi ji, So is the Gutka doing Barabari of Guru Granth Sahhib Ji? and about charitropakhyaan - look at recent cases like jimmy saville, india rape case and the recent tragedy of children in care who were being sold for sex in the UK, the amount of adultery, sex trafficking - you see that everything in charitropakhyaan is happening all around us. if charitropakhyaan is evil and bad and not true - then we shouldn't read the news either ! dont read about delhi rape case, dont read about jimmy saville its all DIRTY! haaaawwwwwww...... also someone should ask these people how they were born? did their parents have to do something dirty aswell?, something they can never escape from, something that is part and parcel of being a human. I have often thought, with the amount of kaam problems being faced by the youth , reading the charitropakhyaan would prepare many young Sikhs for their adolescence, and keep them away from getting into sticky situations until marriage. even the British have realised that we must teach sex education in schools when children come of age, so what's wrong with the Guru Talking about these things, I think it shows that Guru Gobind Singh ji wasn't afraid to talk about anything. you just have to read Akaal Ustat and see how Guru Gobind Singh ji explains in beautiful detail and elaborates on what guru granth sahib ji tells us sabh gobi(n)dh hai sabh gobi(n)dh hai gobi(n)dh bin nehee koee || God is everything, God is everything. Without God, there is nothing at all. (Bhagat Naam Dev Ji, Raag Aasaa , SGGSji 485) someone should tell dhunda supporters not to say "Vaheguru ji ki fateh" either as that is from dasam granth, and also tell him not to take amrit and dont do nitnem and don't ever do ardaas either VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH ! www.dhunda.co.uk www.profsarbjitsinghdhunda.co.uk www.profsarbjitsinghdhunda.com www.sarabjitdhunda.co.uk www.sarabjitdhunda.com www.sarabjitsinghdhunda.co.uk www.sarabjitsinghdhunda.org

We decided not to use elmo for future sakhee's, however we are thinking of making our own Singh and Singhnee styled puppet characters and doing shows for kids. We would love to hear your feedback and if anyone would like to help. Please visit http://www.Taeja.com for more info about the Taeja projects.

  9. Not sure if its the right way to come into Sikhi if its because of a girl he is in love with? We don't refrain from degrading our own Sikh boys/girls when they convert to other faiths due to romantic relationships, so lets not bend the rules when the tables have turned.

  10. No, it's not, Bhaji. But it is usually the best way to go about it. To actually accept that every one thinks and behaves differently solves many problems (and isn't really an easy thing to do!) For starters, one wouldn't impose their opinions on others....and because of that one wouldn't need to debate upon anything. This leads to calm and peace

  11. I hope you do have kids, bring them up to be lions and lionesses ....... To my sisters, when you find out you are expecting then the duty starts. Get the Jaap Ji Sahibs and Sukhmani Sahibs going as many as you possibly can repp them out, and get your Singh involved too he dont get off the hook that easily. The logic is simple. If you have an experiment where you have a bowl of water and you put heavy rock music full blast the water crystallizes in an dispelled ugly format. If you get another bowl of water this time put medative music it will crystallize in a beautiful formed shape. Now imagine when you are doing paat, imagine what that water will be formed. Now the baby is surrounded by water while its being developed. Now imagine both Singh and Singhni are both rehetdhari and amritdhari. What sort of crystallization will be happening around in your baby. When Nihang Singhs find out there Singhnis are expecting they hang up Shasters on every wall in the house, where ever the singhni looks at Shaster it inpacts the baby. I have heard of children from a young age who can recite Sukhmani Sahib at the age of 4 (punjab Radio) as thats what his mother did throughout the pregnancy. I have heard of children whenever nindiha is done they just walk away ....... This experiment was tried using emotions with water ....

  12. I've always seen it as essentially gossiping or b*tching about someone , sl*gging them off to others. With the first example, I wouldn't class it as nindya if you said someone murdered someone else and that it was a bad thing but if you then called them a bad person, that's like doing nindya. Guru teaches us that people are not bad - we come from the same Light but it's just their actions that are good or bad. Like Batman says: It's not who I am underneath but what I do that defines me.

  14. Must read for all those serious about learning about the reality of violence on the streets. Assault In Progress by R. J. Nash The following is information gleaned from the manuscript for the book : Title: "Condition: Black" Sub title: assault in progress Title copyright of R. J. Nash. Data has been gathered from a Home Office study group formed to investigate violence within modern society. This study lists what are now becoming known as "Habitual acts of violence". A "Habitual Act Of Violence" (HAOV) is one that is repeatedly seen to be used in a given situation. The data was gathered mainly from within the United Kingdom and Europe. All data has been gathered through a study of violence within society and from interviews with both victims and offenders. Although statistics have been compiled, they are not yet for general release. The following is general advice to women for their safety and well-being. Threat awareness and avoidance. 1. Just because a person is a relative, friend or colleague does not make them a ‘safe’ person in respect of potential sexual assault. Most sexual assaults are committed by persons who have intimate knowledge of the victim. Always be aware of the possibility of assault. The most common place of assault is in the home. Close all doors and windows when you are home alone. If it is necessary to have a window open, have a lock fitted that will allow partial opening with security. Always use security chain on the door when answering callers. Ensure that the chain is sufficient to delay forced entry for at least ten seconds. No matter how well you know a male, try not to invite them in when you are alone. Designate one room as a place of safety. This room should have only one entrance and be equipped with a stout door, an internal bolt, a panic alarm, a telephone and a weapon of choice. Ensure you are completely familiar with the weapon and can confidently use it. There are many utility weapons around the house, familiarise yourself with these and be prepared to use them When walking alone, be aware of your environment and the persons around you, avoid lonely deserted areas. Frequently change your route to and from home, especially in lightly populated areas. Remember, most attackers know you and your routine. Avoid walking close to alleyways or parked cars and vans/panel trucks. If you feel uneasy or troubled, there is probably good cause for you to feel this. Search for the reason. If you feel you are being followed, don’t try to establish the fact, just go quickly to a place of safety. Once there, don’t leave until you are sure it is safe. Always carry a personal alarm and a utility weapon. Attackers are looking for easy victims. Walk confidently with head high and show awareness. If you are accosted (point A) remember that your attacker has chosen his assault place (point B). NEVER allow yourself to be taken from point A to point B. Your best chance of escape is at point A by direct and immediate action. If you think that by going along without resistance you will not be hurt, you are wrong. Even if you are not physically beaten, you will suffer severe emotional trauma. Research shows that if you resist and are successful, you will suffer virtually no long-term trauma. If you have resisted but the assault is still successful, you will come to terms with it quicker than those who do not resist. Never think that you can appeal for mercy or to your attackers sympathetic nature. If he had sympathy or mercy, he would not be attacking you. Therefore when defending yourself, Show No Mercy. Habitual Acts of Violence: Part One Male on Male, Close Quarters. These are listed in frequency order. 1. One person pushes, hands to chest, which is normally followed by the pushee striking first, to the head. 2. A swinging punch to the head. 3. A front clothing grab, one handed, followed by punch to the head. 4. A front clothing grab, two hands, followed by a head butt. 5. A front clothing grab, two hands, followed by a knee to the groin. 6. A bottle, glass, or ashtray to the head. 7. A lashing kick to groin/lower legs. 8.A broken bottle/glass jabbed to face. 9. A slash with knife, most commonly a 3 to 4"lockblade knife or kitchen utility knife. (Apart from muggings, sexual assaults and gang violence, the hunting/combat type knife is seldom used) 10.A grappling style head lock. Only one occasion of a well known boxer, caught on night club cctv, opening the conflict with a hook punch to the body. An interesting point was highlighted. Most fights, after the initial encounter, quickly degenerated into scrappy scuffling with head and waist grabbing and ended on the floor. Which brings to mind that most Shotokaners lack groundwork skills. Anyone brave enough to redress this imbalance on the list? Habitual Acts of Violence: Part Two Offences against the person, male on female These are listed in frequency order. This data was gathered from interviews with victims and offenders and from statements. Data only covers robbery/sexual methodology and changes relative to first contact with victim ie., venue/ night/day etc. Domestic violence is not covered as this is a specific subject of its' own. 1. The victim was approached from the rear/side/front, a threat was made with a weapon, and then the weapon was hidden. Then the victim's right upper arm was held by the attacker's left hand and the victim was led away. 2. A silent or rushing approach was made from the victim's rear, and then a rear neck/head lock applied and the victim dragged away. 3. The same approach as in #2, with a rear waist grab. The victim was carried/dragged away, normally into bushes/alley etc. 4. The victim was pinned to a wall with a throat grab with the attacker's left hand. A weapon-shown threat was made, and then the weapon hidden, and the victim led away. 5. The victim was approached from rear/ front/side. The attacker grabbed the victim's hair with his left hand, and then she was dragged away. The Most Common Wrist Grips, Male On Female. 1. The attacker's left hand, thumb uppermost, gripping the victim's raised right wrist. The attacker threatens/ gesticulates with his right hand. 2. With the victim's right arm down, the attacker grips the victim's right upper arm with his left hand and her right wrist with his right hand. 3. The victim raises both arms, with both of her wrists gripped. The attacker's hands are vertical with the attacker's thumbs uppermost. 4. With the victim's arms down, the attacker grabs both upper arms. 5. With the victim's right arm down, the attacker's left hand grabs just below the right elbow, and his right hand grabs her wrist. A fact worth mentioning at this point is that research shows that women who violently resist ,whether the attack is successful or not, cope with the aftershock and trauma (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome) better than those who go quietly and hope they won't be hurt. Very few who do resist get badly battered or cut. Research/profiling seems to indicate that if an attacker is likely to batter or stab, it will happen whether resistance is given or not. Conclusion Probably the most important advice a self defence instructor can give is : Be aware of the possibility of violence at any time, never think "it can’t happen to me".

  15. I'm glad Sikhs for Justice aren't getting on the Delhi rape bandwagon and are showing the hypocrisy of Sonia Gandhi and her chumcha Manmohan. They could easily have either just kept quiet or do what other Sikh organisations and political parties and get on the bandwagon by making statements about the Delhi rape without mentioning that Sikhs suffered a hundred times worst than what happened to that girl.

  18. Agree completely with HSD about media picking complete freaks to represent Sikh and asian males in general. Sikh or not sikh you can just see from a mile off that this param is a serious weirdo! Notice how much bad rep the media gave the Sikh palace guard, yet they lap this guy up, bbc asian network have even called him for an interview. Remember guys, east or west, no one is our friend. Worst thing is he claims to be amritdhari and talks about sikhi (in a warped way), wouldn't have been half as bad if it was someone totally irrelligious who happened to wear a pagh.

  20. This is more to do with the fact Punjabis are probably the only people who cannot get political asylum in the UK. Tamils,Somalis, Kurds, Afghanis (including Afghani Sikhs) etc only have to land in the UK and they can apply for political asylum. Even if they get refused which is not very often they can still extend their stay by constantly appealing and some cases can take 5-7 years in total. By that time they can have got married and had kids and then they can apply on compassionate grounds! During the time that their cases are being assesed they are entitled to benefits including rent being paid for them. In majority of cases they will get accepted for political asylum and live off the state for the rest of their lives, apart from the Tamils and Afghani Sikhs. This is the main reason you don't get homeless Tamils or Kurds or others. Non-Punjabi immigrants might get support from their own people but the main reason is the benefits that sustain them while they get on their feets. If Punjabis were able to get rent and benefits paid for a few years they too would be able to make a go and you wouldn't see any Punjabi homeless in the streets. I had to laugh ate the anecdotes of the 'rich' illegals that some people are discussing here. People like to tell 'guppan' so there may be some guys on Dalsingh's building site who try and big themselves up as if they have 20 acres in Punjab but the truth is that for most the immigrant dream is the only dream they can pursue. These guys probably belong to poor farmer families where the daughter has to be married off by selling half an acre, one son eaks a living on a few acres along with taking a few more acres on hefty maamla or theka and one son goes abroad on the money of another acre sold off. This is how it has always was even in my grandparents time. The only difference being that not many people went abroad but there were job opportunities for one or two of the sons of each family to get into the Army or a government job like teaching or revenue work. Two or more of the sons would farm and the family income would be supplemented by the pay from sons in the army or other jobs. These are all shut off to people from a farming background even who have worked their backsides off studying. The only avenue available is to go abroad. There may be some who are after a good time although I doubt that, most just have a dream to make it big outside Punjab where we all know the Indian system have turned the state into a mess. It is only the unavailablity of jobs due to the recession and lately a government clampdown on employers employing illegals (£10,000 fine for each illegal caught) that has led to the homelessness epidemic. There are nowadays daily raids on big businesses in Southall by the border agency trying to catch illegal workers. Most of the goray in the Border agency are racists ar*eholes and the Asians working with them are self hating idiots who delight in trying to impress their goray bosses. It wouldn't surprise me if Dalsingh didn't go straight from his building site on being a uniformed cgumcha working for Cameron's kuttay. If the Border agency backed off for a few months and turned a blind eye most of the illegals would be able to get jobs and get off the streets. Fools like Cameron doesn't realise that the country isn't being bled dry by a few thousand illegals working for less than minimum wage but by Somalis and Afghani playing the system where the wife has 10 kids and gets her rent paid on a 500k house and the husband pretends he doesn't get on wit her and gets a rent free flat! I do agree with WLS, some people on here are no worst than the racists that our parents and grandparents met when they came to this country. I'm not saying all the illegals are angels but the majority are just here following a dream. They get fleeced by agents in Punjab. Risk their lives to get into the country and are then fleeced by landlords and paid a pittence by employers. Even then they have to watch their backs in case they get caught working and if they are unlucky and lose their jobs they have no recourse to get any help. Let's hope none of us ever are placed in such a situation.

  21. I am bit confused what is Nindya. I mean suppose someone has committed a murder and i am telling to my friends that he commited a murder so he has done a wrong thing. He should not have commited that. Is that a Nindya Suppose some is not obeying the rules as per Gurskihi. Talking with other gurskihs that he is doing wrong . he should have done this way. is that also a Nindya

But we should try our best to say sweet things about everybody. ni(n)dhak ni(n)dhaa kar mal dhhovai ouhu malabhakh maaeiaadhhaaree || By slandering, the slanderer washes the filth off others; he is an eater of filth, and a worshipper of Maya.

I still find AKJ kirtanis much more immersed inot the kirtan than many of the "professional kirtanees" Anyway, the original poster should be congratulated and encouraged for whatever way he likes to do Kirtan in. I guess its not a thread for spewing your own likes and dislikes.

  25. ^ Above. Only waheguru himself knows what is going on above. My heart bleeds for my brother and sisters. No fancy sad faces or emotions. None are needed here. This is not the time for cartoon emotions. Before the 'Sikhs' in the messages said the rubbish they said and lived their lives accordingly Sikhs were known not to be beggars. And yet here we are, with Sikhs being the largest homeless community on the premier city of Waheguru's earth for the first time ever. London...the greatest city on earth. Sikhs being the most homeless and drug addicted in the greatest city on earth. And yet there they (the British Sikhs) are, congratulating each other and making vulgar jokes and making vulgar excuses with each other at the poor Sikh's expense. I truly pity the poor immigrant that has to blend in with the above. If Kaljug is an upside down world than an upiside down world we have today in the UK Sikh community. We have sons and daughters of men and women that came by false pretences and were met with bigotry and hatefulness......showing the same bigotry and hatefulness 25 years later. I wish there where a 'cartoon emotive' in the tab of emotives above to show just how sad I am. There is not. There are smiiley faces and there are round sad things hitting themselves with a hammer. None of these are enough to describe the established British Sikh Community. The history books have been re-written. 'Sikh Communities' have, for the last century or so been established in bangkok, New Zealand, canada, California and China. The history books and the guide books tell it. The books also tell how that diaspora has never begged.....how Sikhs are never beggars. Now look at the posters above. Look at how they gloat, laugh and congratulate themselves. If ever I needed to know what artificial emotion to use.....it is now. The history books and the guide books have been re-written. Sikhs, in the greatest city on earth...the most homeless, the most drug-addicted and the most beggar. Sikh Hstory will never forget how the posters above saw it as a time to display their jokes and ignorance. Kaljugi ? This is where I get banned from 'Sikh' forums and then banned and then banned again. Its where the likes of Dal Singh are seen as the good guys and the likes of Neosingh are exposed as being impotent. I pity the poor immigrant today.

  35. There were real nihangs such as Jathedar Sant Baba Nihal Singh Jee who stood up for the 1984 crap , he was tied from his feet and dragged around punjab by a jeep. he still has the scars to prove this , if you look at sant ji's speeches baba jee is there . http://www.nihangsingh.org/blog/?p=773<<<< here are other example of other nihangs taking part in the morcha, Buddha dal's jathedar baba santa singh jee didn't give his army permission to take part in the morcha or jang because it was a "political matter" , many b.dal singhs left the dal and went against his hukam to fight. alot of Bidhi Chand Dal singhs went and fought aswell such as Avtar Singh Bhrama , there is even a blue nishaan raised in his memory by Bidhi Chand Dal... Don't paint everyone with the same brush, such nihangs as Akali Phoola Singh , Akali Baba Deep Singh , Akali Gurbash Singh etc were all great Nihang singhs ! , Even Guru Gobind Singh , the Char Sahibzade all fore farleh! there is even a gurdwara where Akali Baba Fateh Singh jee tied his Farla , name Dhumalaghar sahib in Anandpur Sahib . yeah most nihangs dont do crap , but they do alot more bani, seva &sevathan 90% of the users on here including me. and live in rehat , bana everyday etc i don't see you doing anything they do? so cut the crap yeah most maybe busy getting high... but most are nangs ( fake nihangs) real nihang singhs have always stood the test of time and fight when they are needed.... THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK , what have you done for the panth? oh that's right sit on sikhsangat and cuss people who you think haven't done anything. let akaal purakh be the judge and leave your ego behind the door. akaal sahai.

  36. They are both stronger and as Jagga veer pointed out there is no difference between Gurmantar and Mool Mantar. I never understood why we as sikhs have so many doubts and sansas regarding mantras within gurbani.. coming back to the topic both gurmantar and mool mantar have nirgun/sargun gyan and both are extremely deep penetrating mantras and both mantras are agam agad bodh and yes both are capable to take who recites with full pyar/sharda/dedication/vidhi to sachkhand. Gurbani is agam agad bodh its complete shabad guru and complete manifestation of Vahiguroo nirankar himself. I think question should not be which mantar within gurbani is stronger but rather question should be put fwd to those who is meditating on mantra or gurbani- how far one is willing to dive into gurbani (Agam agad bodh) and get lost in it? Just to give everyone who may have doubts on mool mantar or gurmantar which one is stronger, just to reiterate its not the mantra within gurbani but again how far you willing to dive in it. I have a mona freind who is being meditating on mool mantar for 6 years now with full dedication, he is feeling vibration of mool mantra, he can hear the shabad resonance/dhuni inside when he sits in meditation. So if him being a mona can hear shabad(mool mantra) inside running then any gursikh can and should able to with mool mantar...so wake up guys, don't waste on dilemma which mantar(gurmantar/mool mantar) i should jap, just jump right in..times running out, there is no certainty in life - we don't know if our breath went out coming back in or not..remember death each and every breath you won't forget jaap.!!

  38. Veerji, you are confusing the enemy here. The enemy here is communist minded Sikhs, not Bhasaurias, Protestant(what did they do to us?), Singh Sabhiyas or AKJ. If we cannot differenciate between an enemy then what hope can we have in defeating them? Just read our ithihas, it was the Singh Sabhiyas that excommunicated the Bhasaurias, so I still fail to understand why you are punishing the Singh Sabha for the crimes of the Bhasaurias(who don't really even exist anymore). So you are really beating on a dead horse here. By giving a new enemy an old name or confusing them for an old enemy you are confusing the issue.

  39. I recently bought laptop for my mom and i want to install a good anti-virus. I don't want to get free programs as her laptop usually ends up corrupted after a while. Is there any cheap (under 40$) anti-virus program that you can recommend?
