  1. Finding discrepancies in Sikhi at the age of 16? Interesting! First of all, none of the Guru Sahibaan were violent. Even Guru Nanak Patshah Jee Maharaj had a barsha which is still preserved. Guru Gobind Singh Jee Maharaj has written and uttered such amazing Bani that is miles away from violence. No where has Guru Sahib said that one particular community was superior. Maanas Ki Jaat Sabhai Ekai Pehchaanbo. As for the Sikh appearance, its nothing to do with pride. Its our uniform, its our identity, its something we have died for and will die for. Why we have a distinct appearance? Well, lets see...you find me someone else who ever walked this planet and comes anywhere close to the dust below Dasmesh Pita jee's feet. You won't, therefore, since we belong to the One who doesn't have an equal, we are to carry His blessings as a sign that we belong to Him. Its not about ego, pride or arrogance, its our allegiance to Him. Even a pet dog has a collar which means it belongs to someone. Every soldier has a uniform. We are His soldiers and we are faithful to Him like a dog is to its master. Thus we carry His blessed appearance which He has gifted us. Sikhs don't turn their back on Guru Sahib's paavan pavittar saroop, because our Guru Sahib is not an idol, or a book, or someone who died in the past. Guru Sahib is jaagdi jot, eternal illuminance free from birth and death. Anyone who compares someone's turning back to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaj with Guru Sahib's pointing feet towards Mecca should wake up to the fact that he/she is NOT Guru Nanak Patshah Jee Maharaj. Guru Sahib was teaching a lesson, what lesson is this person trying to teach? If someone is so adamant to compare themselves to Guru Sahib, they should first come forward and sacrifice their entire clan for the Panth. All the Guru Sahibaan were ONE jot, so thinking that one Guru Sahib's saroop was different from another is like saying the sun that shines over New York is different from the one that shines over New Jersey. At the end of the day, its your life, your kesh, and your relation with Gurujee. You judge what is more important for you and what your priorities in life are. If its Guru Sahib, you won't have any questions. If its anything/anyone else, good luck!

  2. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa !!Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh !! Waheguru Ji - a sort sakhi One day Guru Gobind Singh Ji maharaj asked for his horse which was duly brought from the stables. The Sikhs gathered around as Guru Ji checked the horse. Guru Ji grabbed the reigns of the hose ready to mount. Guru Ji said "Can any Sikh recite Guru Granth Sahib Ji before I sit on the horse?" The Sikhs looked around in puzzlement, how can you recite the whole of Guru Granth Sahib Ji in the time it takes to get up and sit on a horse. Guru Ji put his charan on the stirrup and was ready to mount the horse "Can anyone recite Guru Granth Sahib Ji before I get up and sit on Neela?" One Sikh stepped forward, with folded hands he said "Sahib Ji with your grace I will try" As Guru Ji mounted the horse the Sikh said "Ek-oan-kaar" and Guru Ji sat on the horse. Sahib Ji was very pleased and blessed the Singh. "You have understood the essence of Guru Granth Sahib Ji," the whole of the granth is an expansion of this fundemental Sikh concept. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa !!Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh !!

  3. A Bollywood Sikh can fight 17 men while standing on top of a train running at full speed, and at the same time, he can (while he is still standing on the fast moving train) throw a knife at a man sitting inside a moving helicopter and have the knife pierce the guy's heart, killing him instantly inside the helicopter itself. - courtesy: Gadar : Ek Prem Katha......more like a brain drain katha.

  5. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa !! Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh !! Waheguru Ji , Jaap Sahib – Sava Lakh (125,000) by June 2014 1984-30 YEARS-2014 June 1984 saw the tyrannical armies of India launch a full scale military attack on Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar and the Sikh Panth. This was one of the first of a series of brutal and calculated attacks on the Sikh community designed to ridicule and break the backbone of our faith. In the following 29 years we have seen hundreds and thousands of people lose their lives in what is nothing short of genocide. The year 2014 will mark 30 years since this cold-blooded assault and attack on the heart of our panth. We will NEVER FORGET 1984, in fact we will remember what happened each and every day. We will forever praise the Great Warriors and Defenders of our Faith who fought till the last breath for the Chardi Kala of the Sikh Panth. WHATS THE PLAN? The Plan is to unite as a Panth in the Charan of Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaaj under One Nishan Sahib and do ardas for the Chardi Kala of the Khalsa and begin the Savah Lakh Jaap Sahib Gurbani Jaap. Through the Bani of the True Guru we can unite and remember the great Martyrs/Shaheeds of the Kaum This is our chance to unite across the globe, pray together and demonstrate our unity through the love of Gurbani and our Mahaan Shaheed Warriors. The aim is to have done 125,000 Jaap Sahib de Paath by June 2014. We cannot do this alone, we need our Panthic Brothers and Sisters, Mothers and Fathers from around the world, to join in with us and complete this task. As individuals we can only achieve so much, but with the support of Gurbani and the Sangat, we can attain everything. So let’s show our conviction and faith in Vaheguru ji and complete Savah Lakh (125,000) Sri Jaap Sahib de Paath by 06 June 2014 This paath will allow each one of us to make a daily contribution to the betterment of the Panth. We are at a stage where simply attending one day events is not enough, we need to be working daily towards living as true Khalsa’s. If we truly care, then taking out just a few minutes each day is a small contribution to make. WHO CAN AND SHOULD GET INVOLVED? The answer to this question is simple: Anyone who loves the blessed Shaheed Singhs and Singhnia of the Khalsa Panth…and actually wants to make a difference by reading and doing parchar of the Bani of Pita Ji Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj. So in essence, this should include each and every one of us. It doesn’t matter, whether you have taken Amrit or not, whether you keep your kesh or not, whether you belong to certain groups or not. This is our chance to gather as a community of human beings and do something together for the betterment of our Panth and remember the Brave Warriors who lived and died for the Truth. SO WHAT SHOULD I DO? What we ask is that each of us reads/listens to as many Jaap Sahib’s as possible with a collective aim to reach the target of 125,000. So read/listen to the Sacred Bani of Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj and record how many you have done. Then on a daily, weekly or fortnightly basis update the website so that we can keep a record of how we are doing. If you cannot read Gurbani then please try and listen to the bani being read. You can download the audio, watch videos with the audio playing and obtain English translations for you to read. We just want as many people contributing as much as they can for our Beloved Khalsa Panth. If this means that you can manage one Jaap Sahib a day, then we thank you, as that is one more Bani being read for the Chardi Kala of our Beloved Panth. Please, take out this time and do as much as you can. *Please note the Jaap Sahib that you do as a part of your Nitnem does not count towards the Savah Lakh (125,000) Jaap Sahib Gurbani jaap. RECORDING THE PAATH The primary method of recording the number of paath done will be via this website www.jaapsahib.com, we ask that you visit the site regularly to submit the number of paaths you (and your family/friends) have done. The information we receive will be treated with the upmost respect and confidentiality. This is not started by any particular jathabandi or political group; just the youth of the Panth…..for the love of the Panth and the Mahaan Shaheeds of our great Kaum whom spilt every last drop of blood in their bodies for the Chardi Kala of the Khalsa Panth. Please help promote this and take part in the seva as it is a formidable task to take on. http://www.jaapsahib.com/

  6. Correct me if I'm wrong but Canada has, does it not, have Laws which state that anyone that makes a domestic violence allegation (any violence within the home) cannot then retract those allegations without suffering serious criminal charges from the authorities themselves ? If, as I suspect, that is the case, the girl is now caught between a rock and a hard place. She can't withdraw her complaint. On the other issue, Canada is a very civilised country. It's not Punjab. If the Police Officer has misused his position there will be serious consequences for him. I don't know if its the Peel Police, Vancouver or Surrey Police but whichever it is, your relation needs to get down to police hq and file a formal complaint. Regardless of whether or not anything comes of it at least he'll be getting the facts relating to the case out there. But anyhow, Canadian Law operates on basic English common law principles. The man can't be convicted on hearesay. Unless they have written, audio or video proof of him making a death threat the Court cannot find him guilty. Unfortunately, what sometimes happens in these situations is that Punjabi men in Canada who are relatively recent immigrants receive either bad legal advice or feel pressured to plead guilty when confronted with the choice of a misdemeanor slap on the wrist or the possibility of a serious stretch of jail time. This situation you portray is all too common in Canada. I know because some of my own uncles and aunties out there have been thrown in jail on the say of their own daughters. I know the UK Sikhs love to complain alot but they don't know how good they've got it compared to the situation out where you are.

  10. The discrepancies are in your thinking.. You have made up your mind of leaving Sikhi and now you are just coming up with excuses. I can understand your point because you are a teenager and I have been through this stage and similar situation. My question to you is that have you ever talked to a Sikh Scholar about these doubts in your mind? Because after reading your comment I can give you a satisfying answer. But you have already made your mind of leaving Sikhi and you can come up with other excuses, I will not do so. Sikhi is not a forced religion. If you whole heartedly want to follow it, then you should otherwise you have an option to not follow it. As far as your parents are concerned, only you can explain it to them. Be very clear to them and speak of your heart. It might hurt them, but it will release burden off from you.

  11. Khalsa ji Naam simran is a slow process. One should to get up early morning and after ishnan should sit for sometime by uttering gurmantra waheguru with focus on attribute of waheguru. Waheguru means God is great. To begin with you should speak word waheguru so that your ears can hear.Split it into two parts wahe and guru. That means while enhaling wahe and exhaling say Guru. Do it everyday and it will have effect. It is difficult to concentrate in the beginning but slowly you will get concentration and also anand. Start with five minutes and then slowly increase timing. You can even write word "Waheguru" , paste it in front of you to see if your eyes are open and focus on that. Start with this and also i will post a series of written notes from Bhai Veer singh ji on this topic that were noted by visitors who visited him for guidance on simran. akhin staguru dekhna Sarvani sunana gur nao SGGS ji Keep in chardhi kala.Do not worry about getting powers as that is not aim of a gursikh.

  12. I don't think any one of us has any right to criticise any mahaan mahapursh for the way they instructed the sangat. If we can develop even a fraction of the amount of love and bhagti they had for the Guru then we will indeed be very blessed. Here is a very clear explanation made by Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji (Rare Wale) written up by Sant Baba Waryam Singh ji in his book Discourses on the Beyond vol 3 which covers everything that has been mentioned by posters and a mahapursh's perspective which we fail to understand.

  13. The movie was directed by a Hindu. Before Sikhs get too happy at that movie, one must put yourself in their shoe for a moment. How would we like it if a movie about partition was made in which a Muslim Pakistani came to India, single handedly beat up thousands of Sikhs and had a Sikh girl go crazy over him to the point of leaving her family! we would go crazy if such a movie was made. Well that's how Muslims feel about Gadhar. bollywood is basically trashwood. No good can come from it. Old Hindi movies promoted traditional Indian culture, but now bollywood movies are promoting gutter culture. One should try to keep their children away from bollywood movies.

  14. I find it ironic that someone with alias - "doctor" mani would encourage people to be shot just because of different beliefs. The very premises of being doctor to save a life not take a life. Even hardcore terrorist/criminal/war criminal is a "patient" in doctor eyes during operation. May be for above poster, it be nice to have a refresher ethic course of being a "doctor" first let alone being sikh of Guru Maharaj at the first place.!!

  15. Its hard to answer your questions on the point of law without knowing what country you're in Simranpreet Singh. Here in England, the dad wouldn't have to wait another year to throw her out of the house. The legal age for everything except vote....and I mean everything including drinking in pubs and nightclubs etc is 16. He could have thrown her out last year and saved himself the aggravation. But like I said it's difficult to answer the legal points without knowing which jurisdiction you're talking about. You see, the thing is here in Europe nobody really gets to spend even an hour behind bars in a police station unless its a really really henious crime. In contrast, in North America, the authorities love locking people up even for traffic offences. Indeed, America locks up more of it's population than any other country in the hstory of the world. But yeah...he should throw her out and kick the mum out too while he's at it.

  18. The man worked three jobs and was away from home most of the time, for example he had one main job and two part time jobs (he'd work his main job in the day, then sleep a few hours and leave for the next) .. they were poor so he had to constantly work. The daughter spent a lot of time with her masee's (moms sisters) who did not like the step dad. So that's the reason the daughter was like this, her aunt's brainwashed her.

  19. Wow......!!! Just listened to it. This Moranwali man is awesome. I remember listening to his intro to a Jazzy B track a few years ago and was blown away but until now didn't know who it was. This KS Makhann track has echos of that Jazzy B track in that the Moranwali intro was world class awesome but the song itself was average at best, below par at worst. Same with this song. This intro is simply mind-blowingly awesome....Making it one of the best songs ever. But then the actual song starts with ks makhann and its just oh so average at best. I can't wait for the day that a singer with an actual genuine great song uses Moranwali for the intro. But seriously....the intro by Moranwali, and the acompanying music is simply awesome. One of the best things I've heard in a long time.

  20. Don't know how true this story is.......Sounds a bit iffy to me BUT......there's one thing that sticks out. He became her dad when she was 3 and she's now 17. Throughout her entire life so far he has had responsibility of bringing her up.....teaching her values etc. Throughout her entire life thus far it is this man that the youngster looked to for moral guidance in life. That was his responsibility. Lets be honest now brothers and sisters.......he's done a pretty atrocious job of it. You can't help but question the strength of his own moral fibre on the back of that. Of course that doesn't make him a sex offender etc, but to bring up a child with such criminal low morals he's obviously done more things wrong than right so far.

In fact, he should take it up as a challenge and prove himself to be the best sportsman, and put to shame all those filthy dirt bags who laughed at him. Now that would be what I call "Singh style" @$$ kicking!

  23. Gurbani says that Akaal Purakh Himself has led people astray. If Vaheguru jee Himself doesn't want someone to worship Him or even believe in Him, I guess one really can't do much, or lets say, can't do anything. I am not sure how much it would help if you did Ardas for such a person. The lesson to learn is to do Ardas for yourself and beg Guru Sahib to bless you and not let you turn into such people. Now he is your brother, a 21 year old kid, so you really can't ignore him. People who have had a very easy life, or have had a life filled with brutal struggles, these are usually the kinds of people who question God. What is the basis and background of your brother's questions, that is what you need to find out first. It could be a friend who messed up his head, or a girl who he has a crush on and she doesn't like Sardars, or he didn't get a job because of his appearance, etc etc there could be several reasons. Then, you need to understand how much of Gursikhi qualities did he grow up with. 21 is not really a tender age when you can feed a kid anything as easily as you can when he is 5. But its worth a shot. Just remember, in your attempt to bring him on track, don't lose your own.

  25. PTI | May 20, 2013, 12.33 PM IST WASHINGTON: A US-based Sikh group has said that it will challenge the decision of an American district court last week to dismiss alleged human rights violations case against Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal. The Sikh for Justice (SFJ) had filed the case of alleged human rights violations against Badal last year, but it was dismissed by a US district court in Wisconsin last Friday. The group said it will appeal against the order in the US Court of Appeals asking for a remand to depose Badal personally before a US Federal Judge on the issue of the service of summons. SFJ has retained the services of a top Chicago based law firm and famed Super Lawyers "Pavich Law Group" with Ian Levin, a former US federal judge, who have experience in cases related to human rights violations filed under Alien Tort Claims Act and Torture Victim Protection Act, the rights group said in a statement. In its order, the US District Court in Wisconsin on May 17 ruled that Badal was never served with the court summons as being claimed by the New York-based Sikh for Justice, which had filed the case against him. In fact judge Jynn Adelman, in his five page order, said that Sikh for Justice came out with "creative" but unconvincing argument that the court summons were served to Badal, which indeed was served by Christopher Kratochvil and his brother on behalf of SFJ to another Surinderpal Singh Kalra, believing that he was the Punjab Chief Minister. "I have no doubt that Christopher Kratochvil and his brother sincerely believe that they served defendant, but I conclude that they made an honest mistake, one that was understandable under the unusual circumstances of this case," the judge wrote. In a statement, SFJ said the appeal to the US Circuit Court will be based on that "Judge Adelman erred in his ruling while dismissing the law suit on the ground that it is a simple case of "mistaken identity" and a US Department of Justice interpreter received the summons instead of Badal". Badal and his attorney, backed up by strong evidence from the State Department which had provided him the necessary diplomatic security, argued that the Chief Minister was not at the Oak Creek School when Kratochvill brothers claimed that they served summons to him on behalf of Sikh for Justice. The State Department testified before the court that Badal was shopping at a restaurant supply store, some 17 miles from the Oak Creek School. The judge in his order said that Sikh for Justice in an attempt to "overcome the strong evidence" in favor of Badal, made "a number of creative arguments" but none are convincing. Sikh for Justice in its court case alleged that Badal violated the Torture Victim Protection Act and the Alien Tort Statute in Punjab.

We look at the benefits of learning to read, pronounce and understand the Gurmukhi script (paintee) instead of just using translations and transliterations (romanised). This is all part of Stage 3 in our Five Stage Plan of systematic parchar of Sikhi. In the next videos we will be looking at how words are made in Gurmukhi and how to write and pronounce each letter and vowel. More @http://www.everythings13.org/our-5-po...

If we think, how can we do this if we didn't have any paintings or pictures that people claim are false and fabricated ? More importantly, what exactly does the term 'Guru' mean in the shabad ? Read carefully, does it mean Guru-teacher,like ten gurus or Guru- the transcendent lord ? One has to look at this shabad very closely and carefully to get the real message in my opinion.

  30. Translated from Bhai Vir Singh's ‘Gurmukh Sikhia’ PART X Only naam helps us during a difficulty. In a situation where no one provides any support and where family and friends abandon us, my Lord Master had mercy and said, “jaa kao muskal ath banay …” [GGS:70] - “When you are confronted with terrible hardship and no one offers you any support; when your friends turn into enemies, and even your relatives have deserted you, when all support has given way, all hope has been lost - if you come to remember the Supreme Lord God, then even the hot wind shall not touch you.” I knew a dear gurmukh Sikh. He was an engineer in the department of irrigation. He had received a seed of naam from some gurmukh and he had cultivated it quite a bit. But due to some past karam, some officers in his department did not get along with him to the extent that they tried to defame him and get him dismissed by framing him with crime. His inner support was not yet established. His faith was shaken. Out of fear of disrepute and shame he decided to commit suicide. He went to a canal. But as he took his coat off and was ready to jump into the deep water, the naam surfaced from his inner depth. When naam moved his lips, he felt the presence of Waheguru. He remembered, “The Guru is with me, always very near to me” [GGS:394]. His mind changed as soon as he remembered this. Our Lord Master, our protector, came along with naam. When the naam was restored in his heart, he said “I am honest. I have done nothing wrong. Why should I fear?“ He remembered, “Someone who lives in sin lives in fear, one who lives truthfully always rejoices” [GGS: 84]. So, the Singh Sahib started uttering “Waheguru … Waheguru!” He felt the presence of eternity. His spirit was lifted out of the negativity. The fear that had led him to commit suicide was eliminated. By leaning on naam he became fearless. He regained his peace. He could then realize his mistake and thanked the true Guru. At the same time, his enemies were also exposed. Their conspiracy did not succeed. Thus, naam did not let even the hot wind touch him. Our youth and beauty, wealth and collections, none of these go with us. Only the simran of naam goes with us. After death we find the wealth of naam that we had accumulated here. There is nothing else like naam. Gurbani and naam are invaluable gifts from Guru Nanak. Gurbani takes us into naam and naam bestows absorption into Waheguru. All learning and all philosophies are left behind when we leave this world. Prayer for the sake of those who have passed on brings them peace. It helps their soul. This is a spiritual principle. Each departed soul needs prayer from the loved ones who are left behind. Even an enlightened sant benefits from such prayer. The Third Master, Guru Amar Das, also gave this hukam: 'antay satgur bole-aa mai picchai keertan kareyoh' - “ … When I’m gone, do the immaculate kirtan in praise of the Lord …” [GGS:923]. Translated By Dr Yuktanand singh ji Thanks to him

  31. Panj Khand FIVE KHANDS or Panj Khand literally means as follows: Panj = five and khands = regions or realms. These signify in the Sikh tradition the five stages of spiritual progress leading man to the Ultimate Truth. The supporting text is a fragment from Guru Nanak’s Japji Sahib, Pauris (Stanzas) 35 to 37 inclusive. The Five Realms described in the Bani are: 1. Dharam Khand: the realm of righteous action (pauri 35), 2. Gian Khand: the realm of knowledge (pauri 36), 3. Saram Khand: the realm of spiritual endeavour (pauri 36), 4. Karam Khand: the realm of grace, (pauri 37) and 5. Sach Khand: the realm of Truth (pauri 37). The concept of the spiritual journey running into several stages is found in other religious traditions as well. The number of stages and the nomenclature may vary, but the broad features of the journey remain the same. The seven muqamat of the Sufis, the eight angas of Patanjal yoga, the five kosas of Vedanta and dash bhumis of Buddhism run on parallel lines though they are embedded each in a different cultural milieu. The Panj Khands in the Japji Sahib delineate the different stages of spiritual ascent tracing the evolution of human consciousness on different planes involving man’s thought, emotions and action. Though Guru Nanak does not explicitly deal with these transformations and only touches upon the core characteristics of each stage (khand), yet the emphasis on one aspect does not exclude the others. In each stage, the status or position of the individual is set forth in a social setting. The seeker is not conceived of as a recluse or ascetic: social obligations and moral qualities form an essential core of the spiritual path. The empirical mind is first emancipated from the grip of desire and purified by a rigorous moral discipline. When it learns to stand still, it is brought to the Divine Portal which it can enter only with the divine grace. There it finds itself face to face with the Truth Eternal, i.e. God. The delineation of the Panj Khands is preceded by two introductory remarks in the two preceding stanzas. First, there is the term pavarian, i.e. rungs of a ladder, denoting stages of the mystical ascent. Guru Nanak relates this ascent to the constant remembrance of God's Name. Then occurs another insight which implies that all the endeavours that the spiritual aspirant makes and all the means that he employs during these endeavours have their ultimate source in divine grace without which he may not even feel the initial impulse towards spiritual life. Dharam khand. “The earth exists for dharma to be practised.” The word dharam has been employed in the sense of duty. Duty is usually performed either out of a sense of social responsibility or through moral awareness. Guru Nanak links this sense of duty to man’s consciousness of divine justice. This is the stage in which a sense of inquisitiveness is aroused in the mind of the devotee who is now no longer a casual onlooker of the world around but can perceive the divine purpose behind the creation of this planet of ours, the earth, which is set in the cosmic cradle of time and space and is sustained by the vital elements. Man has been placed in this world to respond to the Creator’s purpose. In His court, he will be judged according to his moral response. Gian khand. “In the realm of knowledge, knowledge is ignited, i.e. illumination dawns.” The seeker here becomes aware of the universe and the mystery of existence. Through the creation, he gains knowledge of the Creator from whom it emanates. Knowledge here is not merely intellectual or sensual; it is intuitive awareness, a spiritual consciousness which expands the vision of the seeker. His sense of wonder is born not merely of his awareness of the many forms of life or the ordered movement of numerous celestial spheres, but of his perception of God who is the sole force behind all. In front of this limitless variety of cosmic life, he feels humble. This simultaneous experience of expansion of vision and of the sense of humility leads to vismaya or vismad (wonder). Saram Khand is the sphere of spiritual endeavour. Here man strives against the last remnants of his ego which still afflict him in spite of his experiencing strong emotions of humility in the gian khand. If the sense of awe and wonder is not accompanied or followed by discipline, the experience might become a mere emotion, something remembered with nostalgia but having no permanent worth. To become worthy of receiving the divine grace, one must chisel one’s surati (consciousness) which is a unifying thread for all human faculties. This chiselling of intellect and wisdom would erase even the subtlest layers of ego from one’s mind. Karam Khand (the realm of grace) is the sphere where reigns the Divine grace. The process of liberation with grace initiated is now brought to completion. All sense of dualism ends. The devotee is one with the Lord and with those who have attained this state of bliss. One reaches here only after achieving a heroic victory over the evils. Yet he is not a passive devotee, but a man of awakened courage and great deeds. The final stage of spiritual ascent, i.e. Sach khand (the realm of the Truth), defies description. “Hard as steel is the story of this state to narrate.” Described as the abode of the Nirankar, the Formless One, sach khand is not a geographical spot, but the final state of the evolution of human consciousness. One can only experience it, but not describe it, for here words cease to have any meaning and no analogies can help in describing the Unique. Here in the Divine Court, the perfect ones rejoice in His presence. It is from here that His Will (hukam) goes out to the universe, and the liberated, grace-filled souls perform it joyously and effortlessly. The devotee becomes one with Him and realizes Him as a unifying force working through all objects of His creation. This way he attains to the non-spatial sach khand and to the Dweller therein, the Nirankar, who is nowhere outside his own heart. Bani This is the section from Pauri 35 to 37 inclusive in Japji Sahib which refers to the Five Khands: Pauri 35 ਧਰਮ ਖੰਡ ਕਾ ਝਹੋ ਧਰਮ੝ ॥ ਗਿਆਨ ਖੰਡ ਕਾ ਆਖਹ੝ ਕਰਮ੝ ॥ Ḏẖaram kẖand kĝ ėho ḝẖaram. 33. Which baba told you that keeping kesh is not compulsory...... Or has some besharam sirgum hacked your account?

  34. Baani andar jaayegi, taan hi Baane nun janam degi. Keeping Kesh is the first and foremost compulsory Kakkar for a Sikh, as per Rehat Maryada. KESH, KANGA, KACH, KARA, KIRPAN. Dad took Head of Singhs and gave Amrit with Rehat Maryada and then bowed before Panj Pyare for the same Amrit. Singhs had to give their Heads for Amrit and a Rehat Maryada which underlines Kesh as the prime compulsory KAKKAR for Sikhs. It does matter whether you are Keshdhari or not, When Guru Tegh Bahadur gave matryodym in Delhi, Chandni Chowk, even Keshless people who used to say they are followers of guru Ghar ranway, Guru Gobind Rai at that time announced creation of a Roop which will be recognised in millions. It was not easy for us to hide during 2 Ghallugharas done during Mughal times, it was not easy for a Keshdhari Sikh to hide during the 1984 Sikh Genocide by Indian Govt. Had KESH not been important, and all Sikhs as per your opinion had become Keshless, it would had been difficult for Indian Govt. to hunt and burn Sikhs alive. Thanks to the compulsory identity, and thanks to the Sikhs living outside Punjab (Delhi/Haryana/UP/Maharashtra etc. as Punjab Patitpuna has increased expotentially), we can still be recognised and our future holocaust by future Indian govt. still possible, else it would be difficult for them to recognise us. Without Kesh identity, any body happy to say he/she as a SIKH during good times refuses to be a SIKH during difficult times.

  35. My friend. as i told earlier, at that level there is no hindu/Muslim/sikh or any religions. As per SGGSJI, There is only Gurmukh and Manmukh and only Gurmukh reaches that level. Kindly refer to Sant Waryam/Sant Ishar singh/Sant Kilewale ji/Sant Attar singh ji jeevanis to understand it better. When Bhagat namdev reached at level, Maharaj ji asked him' Who are you and why have come here?". Bagat Naam dev ji didnot say" I am hindu and so and so on" Naam Dev ji just said" I am Naama".

  37. I have always thought 3HO was okey, just a little quirky BUT... when they start raving to Gurbani... its just so wrong!!! I've seen videos where they shake their booty more than beyonce and that was whilst singing Jap Ji sahib... some of y'all might call it "lost in masti" ... whilst I think they've lost the plot! Could you imagine Punjabi Sikhs busting out full out Bhangra moves to Jap Ji Sahib? (Tho Im pretty sure 3HO have probably done this already) Just because they are white and bringing "new" people into Sikhi we seem to accept such behaviour. .

  40. PTI | Apr 27, 2013, 09.48 PM IST AMRITSAR: Facing opposition from political parties, the controversial memorial built for those killed in Operation Blue Star of 1984 was thrown open to public on Saturday after religious functions organized by the SGPC. Sikh seminary Damdami Taksal handed over keys of the memorial to SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar. Gyani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedar of highest Sikh temporal seat 'Akal Takht', was also present on the occasion. The memorial has been built near the marbled periphery of the Golden Temple complex. Operation Blue Star was launched in June 1984 to flush out hiding militants in the Golden Temple led by their leaderJarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who was also killed in military operation. Expressing satisfaction over the completion of "martyrs memorial" within 10 months, radical Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa thanked Damdami Taksal and SGPC for fulfilling the "long standing desire" of the Sikh Panth. Both opposition Congress and BJP, which is part of the coalition rulingin Punjab, had opposed construction of the memorial. While BJP had termed the move as "anti-national", Congress too had lodged its opposition, expressing apprehension that such a memorial inside the Golden Temple may again whip up passions and become cause of revival of terrorism in Punjab.

  41. Fact is that they are always FULL Sikhs in terms of amritdhari and khakkars. When you look at Punjabis, we have so many monay, women with cut and coloured hair...etc.... you can't even tell who is hindu or not !!! There is nothing wrong with doing yoga, it doesn't make you any more or lesser of a Sikh. I have actually started kundalini yoga myself !! :biggrin2: I know that most of them came into sikhi via yoga, but then again we have white people that come into Punjabi and then sikhi via dance music like bhangra !

  44. Guru Gobind Singh Jee did set up the system for us to follow. When He selected Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, he also assigned Panj Pyaras with Baba Jee. Although Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was the leader of the Sikhs, but it was his duty to ask and consult the Panj Pyaras before making a dicision. Baba Jee also showed us how a Sikh leader should be. He was humple, acting like a sevak of the Panth, he was a true Sant Sipahi. He never became a king nor did he issue coins in his name. That is the kind of political system we need.

  46. I just have one request... Please don't give up on life because of prophecies. Keep getting an education, keep striving to become successful, keep supporting your family, keep uplifting your Sikhi, I have seen and heard people making prophecies for a long time now (I'm probably older than alot of you), and one thing I have noticed over and over again is that the prophecy dates keep on changing. In 2002 they were saying 2007 is the end... Then 2007 came and went, and people started saying 2012. And now we are again pushing it to 2016. It's the same trend over and over. If you want to believe these prophecies, that's your own choice, all I'm saying is please don't give up on things you strive for in life.(for example: what's the point in getting married, finishing university etc if the world is gonna end anyways?) And don't max out your credit cards!

  47. Did you try becoming a murga? What about a murgi? Make sure you try all the variants before you come back. A video of you doing it uploaded to YouTube would be especially helpful to critique your technique. Here is a list of what you need to go over: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murga_punishment

  48. Bhenji this is a totally different scenario altogether, in my opinion. The mata ji and rest of the family were ALREADY Sikhs to begin with, or atleast born in Sikh families, so they were ALREADY "in it" if you will. In romantic situations one has to adopt a different religion and disown one's previous faith (into which one was born), and all for someone of the opposite gender. The example you gave is in fact a blessing. I am not saying that one shouldn't come into Sikhi. You're right, how can we know what are Guru Sahib's plans. Maybe people are meant to come into Sikhi through romantic channels. But then same way may be some people are destined to leave Sikhi through these same channels, and that is also under His will then, right jee? My only concern is what is the basis of such a change? How strong is the foundation? Lets say some Jewish guy fell in love with a Buddhist girl and ended up converting to Buddhism just to marry her. Few years later into marriage, Vaheguru forbid she passes away in an accident, then what? Will he continue to be a Buddhist or go back to Judaism all over again? That will be the question he should be prepared to answer, and that is the litmus test he will have to pass as this is what shows his commitment even in the face of the most dire circumstances. And bhenji this is Sikhi we're talking about, the Khalsa Panth of Dasam Pita, the brotherhood you join by signing your own death warrant and then submitting it with your own hands at SatGuru Patshah jee's charan kamal. No one should come into it OR leave it due to immature romantic decisions. Just my opinion jeeo bhul chukk maaf karni
