  1. Translation of Letter by Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara Vaaheguroo Jee Kaa Khalsa! Vaaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh! As the Sangat is aware, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa has undertaken an indefinite hunger strike since November 14 at Gurduara Amb Sahib, Mohali for the release of those Sikh youth who remain unjustly imprisoned. Five Singhs; Bhai Lal Singh Akaalgarh (Nabha Jail), Bhai Shamsher Singh, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh, Bhai Gurmeet Singh (all in Bural Jail), and Bhai Gurdeep Singh Khaira (Karnatka Jail) all remain behind bars even though they have completed their sentences pronounced by the courts. Despite being on hunger strike for the past two weeks, neither the government nor the Hindi media has acknowledged Bhai Sahibs protest or demands. While various Punjabi and Panthic media outlets have covered the story, the government has not even taken notice. On one hand, long grandiose speeches are made that India is a peace-loving country. Those who feel forced to resort to armed struggle in order to defend their rights are encouraged to engage in non-violent struggle instead. On the other hand however, it has been proven time and time again that those engaging in non-violent resistance will be consistently ignored. Bhai Gurbaksh Singhs case is yet further evidence of this. Are the government and mainstream media not endorsing the belief that the only way to send a message through to the deaf ears of the state is through armed struggle? It is undeniable that if instead of a hunger strike Bhai Gurbaksh Singh had set off an explosion, the government, the media, and other Brahmanical forces would have been crying themselves hoarse until now. Now, when one Singh of the Guru has remained hungry for the past two weeks to have his just demands heard, what message is the conspiratorial silence of these institutions sending? This intentional silence, this state-sponsored message should be clearly understood that We dont care about non-violent protest and hunger strikes, we only hear the sound of bullets and explosions. Sending this message, how can they then hope for peace? Whatever happens Khalsa Jee, the Sikh Nation should not remain silent. In each and every village and city, a movement to support Bhai Gurbaksh Singhs struggle should be organized. What motive does the government have behind not releasing those Singhs who have already spent more time in prison than they were sentenced to? Our brother has taken a great step in our national struggle, and it is our responsibility to organize and mobilize a strong movement until the demands of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh are met. All Panthic jathebandis must unite and come up with a course of action to secure the release of those Singhs who have already completed their sentences. Rallies and protest marches should be organized everywhere so that this deaf government can hear our voice and it can be carried around the world. If the state continues to ignore our demands, then we will come up with the next phase of action. Servant of the Guru-Panth, Jagtar Singh Hawara Jail No. 4 Tihar Jail, New Delhi

  2. Maybe they do ! Maybe, that's why the SGPC doesn't specify it as a bujjar kurehit. However, eating halal will get you excommunicated !I really doubt that any gurmukhs or high avastha gursikhs have any appetite or desires for taste. The foods and the desires of taste, I think affect the different gunas of maya(rajo, sato, tamas) in different ways. Even Guru Nanakjis quote from ang 1289, below- which the missionaries love to use to justify no wrong in meat is actually not talking about the right or wrong of meat. ਮਾਸੁ ਮਾਸੁ ਕਰਿ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਝਗੜੇ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ Mās mās kar mūrakẖ jẖagṛe gi▫ān ḏẖi▫ān nahī jāṇai. The fools argue about flesh and meat, but they know nothing about meditation and spiritual wisdom. ਕਉਣੁ ਮਾਸੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਸਾਗੁ ਕਹਾਵੈ ਕਿਸੁ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਸਮਾਣੇ ॥ Ka▫uṇ mās ka▫uṇ sāg kahāvai kis mėh pāp samāṇe. What is called meat, and what is called green vegetables? What leads to sin? When looking at it deeply, my personal vichaar is that it he is calling the FOOL the person who argues about the taste and this meat issue is the classic because the brahmins were claiming at the time that a religious person has to be vegetarian. However, the brahmins of the past as well as kashatryas were and had been consumers of beef and horse meat. Hence, at Guruji's time these debates were popular. And then to top it all at the time, the muslims were and still claim that eating meat is absolutely great as .long as it is halal and has been blessed by there bismillah allah prayer My conclusion is that he is NOT talking about the foolish who debate the rights or wrongs of meat, BUT actually the foolishness in justifying the right or wrong of the taste of tongue. Why else would you justify eating meat ?? It's ALL about TASTE no matter what one claims. Guru Nanak ji says that ''only fools argue about flesh and meat but they KNOW NOTHING of Meditation or Spiritual Wisdom'' (Gian Dhian) and if you do know about meditation and have some gian dhian, then you will know how foolish it is to argue about taste because these wise people don't have appetites for taste at all. There only hunger is to be with ONE Akaal Purakh, ek onkaar,

  4. Ruqan-ud-Deen: The Sikh Martyr of Guru Nanak Period Col Dr Dalvinder Singh Grewal Recently new facts about Qazi Ruqun-ud-Deen of Mecca Mosque, a devout follower of Guru Nanak have come to light where he has been stoned to death on the order of Ameer of Mecca because he followed and propogated Guru Nanak’s teaching instead of Islam Name of Ruqun-ud-Deen appears in 3 Janamsakhis: Puratan Janamsakhi (pp.105-107) (1), Janamsakhi B 40 (p.66) (2) and Janamsakhi Bhai Mani Singh (pp. 379-389) (3). In a recent paper by Prof. Himmat Singh (4) details of Ruqun-ud-Deen also appear in three recently located manuscripts ‘Syahto Baba Nanak Faqir’ (1509 AD) (5) written by Taj-u-deen Naqshbandi, Twareekh-i-Arab’(1505-06 AD) (6) written by Khwaja Zain ul Abideen and Gunitusalehin (1506-07) written by Abdul Rahman.(7) According to Puratan Janamsakhi, Ruqun-ud-Deen was a Qazi and was present at the famous Mecca mosque during Guru Nanak’s visit to Mecca. Reaching Mecca, Guru Nanak slept keeping his feet towards Qaba. Ruqun-ud-Deen asked him not to do so since feet should not be towards God’s home. Guru Nanak asked him to move his feet to the direction where God is not present. Qazi Ruqun-ud-Deen caught Guru Nanak’s feet and moved. In whatever direction he moved Guru’s feet the Qaba followed. Astonished Ruqun-ud-Deen kissed Guru’s feet and asked his name and held discussions with him. (1) Details of ‘Makke di Goshat’ are given thereafter in which Guru sang his hymn ‘Yak arz guftam pes(i) tu dargos kun kartar’. (Mahla 1; Tilang, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, p. 721). ‘Syahto Baba Nanak Faqir’(5) whose writer Taj-u-deen Naqshbandi had joined Guru Nanak’s party from Iran and recorded daily movements of Guru Nanak, wrote about this event as well. According to him, Guru Nanak moved from there to the Qabristan of Mecca and stayed there for three days. Mardana started his music (in accompaniment of Guru Nanak’s hymns). The people of Arab gathered in the presence of Guru Nanak. Heaps of dates and pots of milk were presented by these devotees. At the end of the music, Guru Nanak delivered a sermon. Qazi Ruqun-ud- Deen, Khwaja Zain-ul-aab(i) Deen (writer of Tareekh(i) Arab), Qazi Gulam Ahmed (Richest man of Mecca) and Ibni Aswad , the head of Quresh tribe and heads of Budhu tribes were also present then. The hymn ‘Yak Arz Guftam’ became a fad for Qazi Ruqun-ud-Deen. Khwaja Zain-ul-aab(i) Deen the writer of Twareekh(i) Arab, was present in Qabristan of Mecca. He wrote in the chapter Bab-ul-Mecca of his book ‘Twareekh-i-Arab’ (p. 300): The sermon of Guru Nanak was heard by 300 followers. Ruqun-ud-Deen went into deep meditation. Thereafter Ruqun-ud-Deen never went back to his home and remained in meditation in a cave till he was put to death by the fundamentalist regime. When Amir of Mecca came to know that the Muslims are following an infidel, he issued fatwas. These fatwas (religious orders) were; 1. Nanak faqir is an infidel. His teachings are falsehood and against the Muslim religion. 2. Ruqun-ud-Deen’s entire property will be confiscated. 3. The Khwesh tribe, the follower of Guru Nanak is ordered to leave the country. 4. Each followers of Guru Nanak ‘to undergo beating by 30 lashes and to be without food for 11 days.’ 5. They will then be burried in sand dunes. 6. Before this they will be taken on camels around the city with blackened faces. 7. They will be hung upside down. 8. The strongest follower of Guru Nanak (Ruqun-ud deen) will be burried in ground till his chest and then stoned to death. Since it was announced in the city that a criminal is being stoned to death; the citizens thronged to watch the event. The citizens of Mecca gathered round with stones….The writer of Twarikh-e-Arab sums up this event saying: “The sacrifice of Ruqun-ud-Deen was special.Watching the sacrifice, 50% of the onlookers became followers of Nanak”. This is how the number of followers of Guru Nanak increased with each sacrifice. Amir of Mecca sent his men to locate and eliminate Guru Nanak as well. Abdul Rahman the writer of another book Gunitusalehin (1506-07) was one such person assigned the job. He wrote about his encounter with Guru Nanak in his book: “When I was driving my horse with speed and hurry; my horse stopped abruptly. I tried to move him by kicking and hitting but the horse did not move. I lifted my head to find in front that at a distance of 100 yards the faqirs were seated. The elderly person in the midst of them had a brightened face and an aura around of him more powerful than thousands of suns. This brightness shut my eyes and I had a revelation that I was about to commit a crime. The horse proved better than me who saved me from committing this crime even though I gave him lashes to advance. In front of me is the same Godly person who had moved Mecca mosque. Shah Sharaf and Ruqun-ud-Deen became his devout followers. He has rightly spread the True Name of God among the Arabs and is now in front of me. I regained my senses and thought of doing the right. I immediately saw the reason; left my horse and shoes and fell at his feet.” This is how the person who had come to kill Guru Nanak turned his follower. Ruqun-ud-Deen had become a devout follower of Guru Nanak and was put to death because of his following of Guru Nanak. Ruqun-ud-Deen can thus be considered as the first martyr of Sikhism. His two tribes Sibi and Budhu migrated immediately from Mecca to Tirah area of Afghanistan where they are now permanently settled and have faith in reciting Japuji Sahib till date. References 1. 6. What is naam? Many people say they have naam from so and so but are not amritdhari. I know of Radha Soamis having naam, no bad comments plz, but do other Sikh samparda also give this and do other faiths? What exactly is it? I always thought it was simran, or reciting gods name. Then some people say one needs a guru, confusing.

  7. http://www.sikh24.com/2013/12/a-brief-biography-of-bhai-gurbakhsh-singh-khalsa-haryana/#.Up6ZMNJDvGA Bhai Gurbakhash Singh Khalsa is today’s hero of the Sikh freedom struggle who has energized and mobilized the freedom movement by demonstrating unprecedented determination and commitment in sacrificing himself for the release of Sikh freedom fighters who are still behind bars, even though their jail terms have been completed. Bhai Khalsa was born on December 12, 1965 at Thaska Ali (Distt. Kurukshetra, Haryana). His father’s name is Jathedar Ajit Singh and his mother is Bibi Mohinder Kaur. He has two brothers and one sister. He took primary and Gurmat education from Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib and also took Amrit from there. During his childhood, he used to take a keen interest in Gurmat due to the pro-Gurmat environment in his family. Whenever any religious congregation was held, he used to sing poems on the Chhote Sahibzade. Although he was a Gursikh from his childhood, he became dedicated completely to the Sikh nation after meeting Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and from then on he began to spread Sikhi. The then rulers did not tolerate his mission and he was arrested in 1982. However, he kept on fulfilling his duties. He was married to Bibi Jasbir Kaur in 1987 with Gur Maryada and they were blessed with a son who was named Jujhar Singh. In 1986 to 1987, when the Indian state imposed a ban on the wearing of Kesri (orange) turbans by Sikhs, he was apprehended for some time for raising his voice against the ban. In 1994, once again he was arrested for allegedly delivering a so-called “radical” lecture. Afterwards, he was taken by police when they framed him in 10 new false cases. He remained in Police remand for almost two months and his wife was also humiliated and harassed. In 2010, Bhai Khalsa was awarded with 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fined 25,000 Rupees. For a small duration he was kept in Ambala Jail but he spent most of the time in Modern Jail Chandigarh. In Modern Jail, he met Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara and Bhai Jagtar Singh Bheora. Bhai Khalsa has severely suffered from the dual standards of the Indian state and he knows very well which conditions are being faced by the jailed Sikhs. Notwithstanding the completion of jail terms, they are decaying in jails and the unjust government is not releasing them. Bhai Khalsa says that the main motive of his fast is to get the detained Sikhs released from their political prisons and following the vision of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale is his main duty. 12. Dear N30S1NGH, I am not worthy of your praises. Only parents, Gurmukhs and Akal Purukh are worthy of our love and devotion. The rest of us are all brothers, children of the same Father Satnam. In this alien land, the least we can do, is remind each other of our true nature and purpose of life, by igniting the flame of true love and sincere devotion, for the Lotus feet of Wahiguru Akal Purukh. Listening, and singing His glory(Bani, Nam), is a way to be happy at all times. It is the simplest, but the most efficient and highest devotion. Prabh ka Simran, sabh te oocha. Dhan Dhan Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

  13. Dear Simran345, my sympathy and best wishes are with you, do not loose heart. Let me answer your differnt questions in the same order you have asked in your post: 1)Are there cases, that one tries but never feels this bliss? You see, either one is with Wahiguru to be in that blissful state, or be away from Him(like the most of us), but keeping Him in mind, to do everything in one´s hands to, reach that goal. For that, one has to do a lot of sadhna, bandagee, of Simran. You see, since we left our true home of our Father Satnam,Sach Khand, we have been wandering aimlessly in this mayavee creation...collecting uncountable layers of karmas and sanskaras, upon our souls, and plus, the mind is a big wall, with it´s allies as kam, krodh, lobh, moh and haume or ahankar, plus we have added many more chains around our necks... so you see, we are far away, from our true Home, so naturally we feel pain and are miserable here in this creation. The pull of the soul, is always towards, its Father, that is why we feel dissatisfaction and somehow lonely here... this is a sign of grace from Satpurukh. We have to take advantage of that moment, when our enemy mind is low, to knock him off, and with determination and faith take some steps towards our true Home. Life is a constant struggle, between the mind and our true self, and mostly the mind wins, except when one takes the support of weapon of Nam, to defeat the mind....many sages, rishis, munis, gods, godesses have been misled and lost it´s battle against the mind..... unless as said, mind is dealt with a power superior to it, and that is Nam alone. 2) Does that only happen with Wahegurus mehr? The answer is yes, we are all blind...unless He who has eyes, allows Himself to get hold by someone. That is why the bani says: amrit sabad, peevai jan ko-ay. Rare and few ones, drink this Nam Amrit. You see, it is not meant for everybody to understand and follow the Bani. If the creation has to go on, it has to be imperfect, otherwise if all accepted and practiced what the Bani says, then there would be nobody here... we may agree or not, but He knows why He has created this creation... we have to reach that level of consciouseness of Wahiguru, to understand the mysteries of this creation. 3) Why does it feel to hard to experience it? It is hard to experience, because it is found at one place(within us), and we search for it at different places. The bani says: Har mandir eyhu sareer hae. The real temple of Wahiguru, is this human body, where the Amrit is flowing all the time, for each and everyone of us, but only the wadbhagee jeevas taste it. 4) I am lost, my soul is lost, i dont know where my atma has gone. You are not lost brother, our soul is as same in essence as Wahiguru, the thing is, it has been kept as a prisoner by the mind in the creation, we have forgotten our true nature, our true home of our Father Akal Purukh, we have been trapped here in the perishable creation since aeons... and the only way to free ourselves, is by attaching ourselves to Nam or Shabad, as it is the only permanent, and everlasting reality. The Bani clearly says: Jin Har japiyaa, se Har hoeeya. You see, how simple and direct are the words of our Guru Sahibans, in just few words, they have revealed us, the key to success, in ruhaniyat or spirituality. We can only pray and pray, like a beggar at His door, and spread the jholees of our hearts and minds, so that He may shower His daya meher and guide us, in order to reach Him, we are beggars at His door, we have no other choice. As Christ says: knock and it shall be open. We have to sincerely keep knocking(prayer, ardaas), and stay calm in His bhaana, then He will have no alternative, but to open His door for us

  14. Not just at 4th pad avastha but also by someone who is at higher state of mind and utam jiagaso under guidance of mahapursh in form of panj. Similiarly , Ik0ngkar Satigurparsad is known as maha vakh mantar in itself is only advised to be reciten by someone at higher avastha. Most people recite Ikongkar satigurparsad as mangal like and all the mantars above as if they have to catch train but there are lot of deep secrets behind beej, maha, mool, gurmantar, maha vak mantra which are only found in sadh sangat, bhramgyani mahapursh. Ikongkar satigurparsad comes roughly 800 times in sri guru granth sahib ji and other granths of khalsa. It should not be only looked as mangal but also mangal and mantar in itself. In old traditional gurmat traditions nirgun aspect of IkOngkar Satigurparsad (One Universal consciouness- True consciousness bliss) was given as one of mahavak/esoteric gyan layer of naam to contemplate on depending on spiritual stage of a seeker. Satguru kirpa (Sargun arth of satigurparsad) is required in order to be in the stage or spiritually drawn towards that esoteric layer of understanding of ik0ngkar satigurparsad /perception at the first place. so both sargun and nirgun arths are intertwine with each other. Please see this thread for more info: http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/34596-meaning-of-gur-prasad/

  18. I had a few doubts at one time in deciding what was mool mantar, beej mantar and Maha mantar. Although, i am no scholar and have only self taught myself gurmukhi in the last few years, i simply looked at the grammar of how the beginning of Guru granth sahib ji was composed. Maybe, you will understand why it made sense to me to differentiate between maha mantar and mool mantar. here goes......... One Universal Creator God, TheName Is Truth Creative Being Personified No Fear No Hatred Image Of The Undying, Beyond Birth, Self-Existent. By Guru's Grace~ Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯ nām karṯā purakẖ nirbẖa▫o nirvair akāl mūraṯ ajūnī saibẖaʼn gur parsāḏ. Always been arguments that moolmantar ends here because next we have JAP written with 2 Dhandis on either side, to specify that JAP bani begins. However, look carefully and you see that the 2 dhandis are written to specify the end of line. 1st line ends at gurprasad. and the JAP bani begins with 2 dhandis on either side of it. ॥ ਜਪੁ ॥ Chant And Meditate: Jap. ਆਦਿ ਸਚੁ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਚੁ ॥ True In The Primal Beginning. True Throughout The Ages. Āḏ sacẖ jugāḏ sacẖ. ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ॥੧॥ True Here And Now. O Nanak, Forever And Ever True. ||1|| Hai bẖī sacẖ Nānak hosī bẖī sacẖ. ||1|| Now, we can see the number 1 written at end to specify it is first tuk or line after JAP had begun. However if you look further then- ਸੋਚੈ ਸੋਚਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਸੋਚੀ ਲਖ ਵਾਰ ॥ By thinking, He cannot be reduced to thought, even by thinking hundreds of thousands of times. By remaining silent, inner silence is not obtained, even by remaining lovingly absorbed deep within. Cẖupai cẖup na hova▫ī je lā▫e rahā liv ṯār. ਭੁਖਿਆ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਉਤਰੀ ਜੇ ਬੰਨਾ ਪੁਰੀਆ ਭਾਰ ॥ The hunger of the hungry is not appeased, even by piling up loads of worldly goods. Hundreds of thousands of clever tricks, but not even one of them will go along with you in the end. So how can you become truthful? And how can the veil of illusion be torn away? Kiv sacẖi▫ārā ho▫ī▫ai kiv kūrhai ṯutai pāl. ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ਚਲਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ O Nanak, it is written that you shall obey the Hukam of His Command, and walk in the Way of His Will. ||1|| Hukam rajā▫ī cẖalṇā Nānak likẖi▫ā nāl. ||1|| ...The number 1 appears again after hukam rajiee chalnaa Nanak likhia naal. The bani carries on as such with pauri 2, 3.. .. all in sequence. So, the number 1 or specification to indicate first pauri/shabad/tuk or mantar appears TWICE ! Therefore, what would you call the verse before this pauri numbering of 1,2,3,4,.... begins after it specified IIJAPII ? Upto hosi bi sach has to be mool mantar, as then it makes sense for the Maha Mantar to be up to where the first 2 dhandies finish the line. Otherwise, if you think or doubt that the mool mantar is up to Gurprasad, then what and where is Maha mantar ??? It doesn't work out correctly no matter what you try because there will be some irregularity with Maha mantar, Beej mantar and mool mantar. The ONLY way that you can distinguish them ALL clearly is the way explained in OP.

  20. You get the same in both boats. There are some monay, who feel that they are not restricted, so they can do what they want. At the same time they give impressions that the amritdharis are tied down and have to stick to their rehat -They look at this in a degrading manner. On the other had, there are full pagh- dhari and amritdhari sikhs that may not pay too much attention to monas and tend to ignore them....but this is not the picture as a whole. Some of these feelings do come quite naturally and we all have to try to not be prejudice. I know , because i was a mona all my life for over 35 years and back then i would always see a singh as a singh. This means that i always gave my natural respect to a paghwala Singh, whether they had full dhari/trimmed, amritdhari or not... However, now that I haven't cut my hair in a few years, i notice that whenever I am out and i see a Singh with a trimmed beard- I naturally think to myself '' he trims it !''. Sometimes, i get a taxi and when i see a full sardar, i feel a natural sense of being more relaxed. I know it's a little nauhghty, but i have to tell myself to be Equal and Fair. These are natural weaknesses that we all have but we have to confront them and admit them to ourselves to be able to conquer them. If someone out there claims that they are NOT inclined to some sort of prejudice, then they are only lying to themselves and making their own battle with the 5 chor even harder.

  22. GPS Bhaiji Agree veerji, with one caveat. Longowal wrote to Indira and asked for tanks...."bhindranwale will run like a coward when he sees them".... Thing is longowal and tohra were stupid and thought that indira was helping them, so when tanks came they assumed nothing. But when they see what the delhi plan was......they realised that they too were fools. Eventually they realised they're mistakes and treachery. BUT BADAL HAS NOT AND WILL NOT REALISE THE ULTIMATE TRUTH........SAJJHA BUGHAT NI HI PAINI HAI.

  27. I think since that guys faith solely rests on rhetorical devises we should eliminate his argument. It's actually a brand new argument that's been created. The original verse of muhammad was a tricky one because answering it was blasphemy: Koran Verse 2:23 "And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our servant, then produce a Sura like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers (If there are any) besides God, if your (doubts) are true." If you read the above there is nothing about using arabic of other languages or even rhetorical devices, this challenge has already been defeated by many people such as Rumi with his masnavi or the following ( a bunch of arab actually constructed using arabic a piece of literature similar to the koran shortly what followed was death threats and when it does come up in debates, a few good debators question the grammar of the arabic used since the koran is the basis of arabic and people like Hamza Tzoris the greek convert had the come up with the 40 to 10 rhetoric device argument. The argument is a new literature challenge rather than a miraculous claim. Answers to "Sura like it" Challenge Answers to "Sura like it" - challenge (Challenge in the Qur'an, 2:23, to produce something of equal quality as the Qur'an, "And if you are in doubt as to which We have revealed to Our servant, then produce a sura (chapter) like it") http://www.islam-exposed.org/ http://www.answering-islam.org/Quran/Miracle/ http://www.suralikeit.com/ http://members.aol.com/suralikeit/ http://www.geocities.com/freethoughtmecca/suralikeit.htm A verse written by christians (there is a video on youtube where this was recited and a muslim believed it was a piece of the koran- click on the first thread on that link the view the surah like it) " Surat Al-Muslimoon (1) Alef Lam Sad Meem (2) Kul ya ayoohal muslimoona innakom lafee dalalen ba'eed. (3) Innal latheena kafaroo bil'lahee wa maseehihee lahom fil akhiratee naroo jahannama wa athabon shadeed. .... Translation of the Meaning of Al-Muslimoon: (1) Alef Lam Saad Meem (2) Say: O Muslims, You are far astray. (3) Those who disbelieved in God and his Christ shall have in the lifeafter the fire of hell and a severe torture. " https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/soc.religion.islam/hfLZ4afB3jQ Hamza's website illustrates the argument abit more clearly, this student of Hamza wasn't able to articulate the argument clearly enough for it to make sense. http://www.hamzatzortzis.com/essays-articles/exploring-the-quran/three-lines-the-changed-the-world-the-inimitability-of-the-shortest-chapter-in-the-qur’an/ Inna aAtayna kal kawthar Fasalli li rabbika wanhar Inna shani-aka huwal abtar Verily We have given to you the abundance So pray to your Lord and sacrifice Indeed your enemy is the one who is cut off The above is the verse in question, I question the content of it from which you determine those without abundance (wealth) are god's enemy hence allah of the koran hates poor people and since alot of muslims live in abject poverty and in 3rd worlds their own god hates them, at one point of muhammad the prophets life he was in poverty so his own allah hated him. Notice the repetition of "Inna" (indeed, frequently used through the koran to establish it's themw and tone of absolute certainty) and the end of line ended with har, har and then tar which rhymes with har. kawthar means a river in heaven hence referring to riches. Hamza says about the verse above: "This chapter has less than 15 words yet briefly analysing this chapter more than 15 rhetorical devices and related features have been found. These features are not just mediocre attempts to please and persuade, rather they are sublime features that if removed or altered will distort the impact and communicative effect of the text." So where did the number 40 come from if it's just 15? Al-taquia? Another part of the argument of producing verse like it, is the idea of the verses own uniqueness even a terrible piece of literature such as written by a child will not have a likeness upon it since it is unique. So one method of defeating the argument to begin with is to ask for examples from their own measuring stick of what they feel from external sources if of likeness to another? Do they feel mozart's music is in likeness to beethovens? Or are the uniqueness of the 2 separate entities enough to call them two separate genres even though traditionally they are classified under the same. This whole business of rhetorical devices needs a few us to dive deeper into here are some sources of what they are, how they are constructed and the rules towards them (which all sound like sales men trying to pitch a horrible product) : http://www.englishbiz.co.uk/extras/rhetoricalexamples.htm http://www.virtualsalt.com/rhetoric.htm http://www.dailywritingtips.com/50-rhetorical-devices-for-rational-writing/ Hamza's website says the following (which all sounds subjective and ignores how the koran speaks in the 3rd person as opposed to god's word in the first person): Example 2: Grammatical Shift (iltifaat) Professor Abdel Haleem in his article ‘Grammatical Shift for Rhetorical Purposes: Iltifaat and related features in the Qur’an[33], highlighted another inimitable feature of the Qur’an, the extensive use of grammatical shifts. This feature is an effective rhetorical device that enhances the texts literary expression and achieves the communicative goal;[34] it is an accepted, well researched part of Arabic rhetoric. One can find references in the books of balagha (Arabic Rhetoric) by al-Athir, Suyuti and Zarkashi.[35] These grammatical shifts include changes in person, change in number, change in addressee, change in tense, change in case marker, using a noun in place of a pronoun and many other changes.[36] An example of this complex rhetorical feature is exhibited in the following verse. It changes to talking about Allah, in the third person, to Allah Himself speaking in the first person plural of majesty: ... hese shifts contribute to the dynamic style of the Qur’an and are obvious stylistic features and accepted rhetorical practice. The Qur’an uses this feature in such a way that conforms to the theme of the text (semantically driven) while enhancing the impact of the message it conveys. It is not surprising that Neal Robinson in his book ‘Discovering the Qur’an: A Contemporary Approach to a Veiled Text’ concludes that the grammatical shifts used in the Qur’an, “…are a very effective rhetorical device.”[37] The Qur’an is the only form of Arabic prose to have used this rhetorical device in an extensive and complex manner. Professor Abdel Haleem states, “…it employs this feature far more extensively and in more variations than does Arabic poetry. It is, therefore, natural to find…no one seems to quote references in prose other than from the Qur’an.”[38] ... [Neal Robinson's book : http://www.youquran.com/DISCOVERING-QURAN-Robinson.PDF ] ] Hamza earlier on sets his own conditions for breaking the koranic code which is (sounds abit like pakistani cricket match fixing set conditions which are impossible to meet even for another piece of literature which defeats the koran being superior since it is unique as is every other piece of text- I wonder if Hamza can do this for any other man-made text as he calls it such as a legal document or a piece of poetry like bulleh shah's works): Without going into an extensive analysis of why Muslim and non-Muslim scholars have agreed that those who have attempted to challenge the Qur’an have failed, the following summary should suffice. Even though the challengers have had the same set of ‘tools’, which are the twenty eight Arabic letters, finite grammatical rules and the blue print of the challenge – which is the Qur’an itself; they have failed to: 1. Replicate the Qur’an’s literary form 2. Match the unique linguistic nature of the Qur’an 3. Select and arrange words like that of the Qur’an 4. Select and arrange similar grammatical particles 5. Match the Qur’an’s superior eloquence and sound 6. Equal the frequency of rhetorical devices 7. Match the level of content and informativeness 8. Equal the Qur’an’s conciseness and flexibility

  29. I still don't understand how 10 words with 40 rhetorical devises constitutes as the greatest miracle. I think the reason why Muslims over emphasize on this point is because Prophet Mohammad did not perform any miracle. The only miraculous thing that happened through prophet Mohammad was the Ayyats he received from an angel. For them Quran is the greatest masterpiece written but this is an opinion that is subjective at best, not everyone will find the Quran as attractive as a Muslim. If they want to get into a competition of miracles then this 10 worded miracle is child's play because there is no shortage of even bigger miracles that occurred through the Sikh Gurus and Bhagat Sahibaan whose bani is in Guru Granth Sahib jee. Take the example of Bani. While Quran Ayyats came to Prophet Mohammad through angel Gabriel(Jabraeel). So it came like this: God--->Angel Gabriel--->Prophet Mohammad On the other hand Bani came to the Gurus directly from Vaheguru God--->Guru Jee Bani did not come through a middle man as did the Ayyats of Quran. So even on this subject Gurbani is a greater miracle than Quran. That is why Gurbani is Baniaan Sir Baani

The huge response in just one week shown by Gurdwaras and organisations in supporting the event being planned for 8 June, the reaction to the online poster and the programme shown on Sangat TV at 9.30pm last night are all very good signs compared to those who have been planning for 6 months a rival event on 1 June, which has received limited support and far less advanced in terms of what is planned for Hyde Park (with NO REMEMBRANCE MARCH AND FREEDOM RALLY IN TRAFALGAR SQUARE).

  36. Adam and Eve is a mythological story. One must realize that some religions use two powerful tools of Fear and Guilt on people for propagating their beliefs. So Adam and Eve story was created to say that they committed the original sin and now somehow we are also sinners and we can only be redeemed by their savior because he died for our sins. See the plot.
