  1. The thing about Punjabi Muslims is that they had the misfortune of being located next door to the Afghans/Turks who have always eclipsed them militarily and politically. The current order of India and Pakistan is an artificial creation of the British. Had the British not been to India, the whole of the subcontinent would have been ruled by the aggressive Sikhs, Marathas, Afghans instead of the current ruling elite. Unfortunately for the Sikhs, our people have always been a small minority. There were even more Punjabi Hindus than Sikhs in Punjab. So it is unfair to compare Punjabi Muslims who formed the majority of Punjab to the Sikhs who did not even form a double digit of Punjab's population. Only Baba Banda Singh Bahadur realized the need for the growth of Sikhi which is why he actively encouraged non Sikhs to embrace Sikhi. But unfortunately future leaders could not realize this very important fact that having a strong concentrated demographic presence in an area will also insure the safety of the Sikhs and their sovereignty. The Misl Sardars and later Maharaja Ranjit Singh non tried to actively promote the spread of Sikhi. If they did, at the very least central punjab could have become a Sikh majority area. But since it wasn't, the land lords ended up losing this very important land during partition to the tenants.

  2. I guess main reason I'm reluctant is because no one will openly support EDL being a Sikh. That can be a bad thing too idk

  3. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-25316370 Quoted from BBC... "A Sikh gang convicted of slashing a retired Indian general's throat in revenge for a 1984 military offensive has been jailed. Lieutenant-General Kuldeep Singh Brar, 78, was attacked as he walked with his wife in central London in 2012. Mandeep Singh Sandhu, 34, of Birmingham, Dilbag Singh, 37, and Harjit Kaur, 39, both from London, were convicted of wounding with intent. Barjinder Singh Sangha, 33, of Wolverhampton, had admitted the charge. The retired general and his wife, Meena, were heading for a night out in the West End when the attack happened on 30 September 2012, Southwark Crown Court heard. 500 dead Lt Gen Brar was involved in Operation Blue Star against Sikh separatists in Amritsar, north-west India, in June 1984. Lt Gen Brar's protection ranking was raised to the highest possible following the attack in London It left at least 500 people dead and made him the target of anger and revenge attacks. A group of protesters demonstrated outside the court calling for the retired military officer to be indicted as a war criminal for his part in the operation at the Golden Temple. BBC London's Alex Bushill said the group, about a 100-strong at its height, said they do not condone the actions of the attackers but they were protesting about Lt Gen Brar. The demonstrators were from London, Coventry, Birmingham and Wolverhampton. Sentencing the four attackers Judge Jeffrey Pegden QC said: "This was a group attack by young men on a 78-year-old man." The victim "resolutely fought back" and prevented an even more serious harm. 'Drew a knife' Commenting on the role of Kaur the judge said she enabled the "ambush" to take place "swiftly and effectively". Demonstrators called for Lt Gen Brar to be indicted as a war criminal Kaur followed the victim and his wife on the day of the attack, keeping her accomplices informed of the target's movements, who were in waiting. When the couple reached Old Quebec Street, Sangha "drew a knife as the other men held the victim", the jury were told. He was left with a 12-inch cut running across his neck and jaw and another three-inch cut to the jaw. His protection ranking was raised to the highest possible following the attack. Following the sentencing, Commander Richard Walton, head of the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, said: "This was a pre-planned and organised attempt to assassinate General Brar for his military involvement in the siege of the Golden Temple in India in 1984." Mandeep Singh Sandhu and Dilbag Singh were sentenced to 14 years, Harjit Kaur was jailed for 11 years while Barjinder Singh Sangha received a sentence of 10 years and six months".

  6. LONDON-Agenda 21 Architects Studio has secured planning permission for a Sikh temple in Barking. The 3,155sq m temple, known as a gurdwara, will be clad with white stone and feature carvings, cornices and balustrades created by specialist Indian craftsmen. Golden bronze cladding panels will be used to finish the top tier of the main building in reference to the Gold Temple in Amritsar. A 420sq m dining hall will be the largest space within the new building and will serve free vegetarian meals to visitors throughout the day. Other rooms will be used as congregation halls, classrooms and residential areas for visiting priests and musicians. Agenda 21 described the proposed temple as "resolutely traditional at first glance but designed with a strong modern ethos regarding proportions, typology and functional layouts leading to an editing of the traditional features". The new temple will adjoin the listed 19th century Quaker Friends House which was converted into East London's first Sikh temple in 1973. 8. By Ayaz Amir Arising from the same soil, breathing the same air, moving to the same folk songs and music, defined by the same five rivers, Punjab over the centuries has yet produced two distinct types of personality: the Muslim Punjabi and the Sikh Punjabi. There is also the Hindu Punjabi but for ease of discussion let the first two categories suffice. The Sikhs were not just the followers of a new religion. Under a succession of Sikh warlords taking advantage of the long twilight of the Mughal Empire, and then under Ranjit Singh who founded a Sikh kingdom – the first unified Punjabi political entity in over 2000 years – they became a nation. In this journey from obscurity to kingship, the Sikhs proved themselves tough warriors, more than a match for the Mughals to the east and the Afghans to the west. After Nadir Shah’s invasion of India (1739 – a mere 32 years after the death of Aurangzeb) Punjab fell from Mughal hands, becoming first a possession of Nadir Shah’s empire and then part of Ahmed Shah Abdali’s kingdom of Kabul. The Sikhs took back Punjab from the Afghans and through war and conquest Ranjit Singh made Peshawar a part of his Sikh kingdom. Successors to the Sikhs were the British and when the Lahore Durbar, after the death of Ranjit Singh, became a victim of intrigue and dissension, and the Khalsa army suffered defeat in two wars, Punjab became part of the British Empire. And we have succeeded the British. Ranjit Singh’s success was on the battlefield. His failure was the failure of Indian despotism, Muslim and non-Muslim alike: the inability to lay the foundations of a lasting political order. The Delhi Sultans couldn’t do it; the Mughals couldn’t do it; and Ranjit Singh failed in the same measure. There’s one thing missing from this picture. Even when Ranjit Singh was lord of Punjab, Muslims constituted the majority in his kingdom, as also in Kashmir. But from the death of Aurangzeb in 1707 right up to the British annexation of Punjab in 1849, a span of 150 years, Muslim governors and commanders – in Kasur, Multan and elsewhere – appear as minor characters, acknowledging the suzerainty of Kabul or Lahore, but lacking the dash or energy to fill the vacuum caused by the collapse of Mughal power in Punjab. The Sikhs made that grab for power. They had the drive and the ability, and the fighting prowess. But where was the Punjabi Muslim? Why wasn’t he able to throw up a leadership equal in valour and élan to the rampaging Sikh? The Chathas would sometimes put up a fight, as would the Bhattis and, to the north, tribes like the Janjuas. But they couldn’t stand up to Sikh power. One Muslim name stands out: that of Adina Beg Khan who through ability and intelligence became very briefly ruler of Lahore. But he died and that was it and soon over the battlements of the Lahore Fort, built by Akbar the Great, shone the star of Ranjit Singh. This is not history for the sake of history. It sheds some light on our predicament today. Indian Punjab is just a planet in the Indian constellation. But Pakistani Punjab because of numbers and resources, representation in the army and administration, is the engine, the motor, the driving force of this republic. We lament the quality of leadership… that we could do much better if we had a better leadership class. But if Muslim Punjab couldn’t perform this feat in that long interregnum of Mughal decline, by what magic does it reverse the dynamics of history and from the same air, the same soil, the same rivers – in fact no longer five but three – produce a class of warriors and administrators (warriors in the metaphorical sense) that can lead Pakistan out of the shadows and into the sun? We are successors not to the Sikhs but the British. Lahore today – its Mall, its old buildings, its seats of authority, the best of its schools and colleges, the best of its hospitals, the Secretariat, the police chief’s office, the assembly building, the high court – is a reminder not of our Sikh but our British past. The settlement of land, the demarcation of tehsil and district boundaries, qanungo and patwar circles, even thana jurisdictions (many of them) are a reflection of that past. The British were not just conquerors. They were more than that, flag-bearers of a superior civilisation. Japan embraced this civilisation and became a great power. China has embraced the same civilisation – signified by knowledge and learning – and is on its path to world greatness. The Punjabi Muslim had no qualms about enlisting in the British army and fighting its battles in distant lands. The Muslim Punjabi from Chakwal, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Attock and the other enlistment districts distinguished himself under British colours, sometimes even winning the highest awards. As a subordinate there was no one who came near his merit. But when it came to acquiring the mental habits of that superior civilisation there arose before him problems of the mind and psychology. Punjab was the sword arm of the empire but the Muslim component of its mind remained trapped in a time warp. Instead of looking forward and stepping into the future the Punjabi mind harked back to an imaginary past, there seeking its greatest comfort. The Pathan was not afraid of India. He had ruled India in the past. The Sindhi had no problem with India. For centuries past Muslims and Hindus had lived together in Sindh in amity. The Baloch imagination moved in other spheres: Iran to the west, Afghanistan to the north. As for the Kashmiri, his fate had not figured in the convoluted events leading up to Partition. The fear of India was an obsession of the Punjabi ruling class and its ideological fellow-travellers crossing over from East Punjab, Delhi, Lucknow, Bhopal, Bihar and Hyderabad Deccan. Fear and insecurity they carried in their hearts and minds and fear and insecurity they made part of the ruling ethos of the new state. There was another thing to note. Muslim conquerors had won their Indian dominion at the point of the sword. The Mughals had gained their empire the same way. Ranjit Singh created his Sikh kingdom by the sword and a high order of statesmanship. The British won their empire through the sword and the power of a forward civilisation. But the Punjabi Muslim, now the dominant partner in the new state, was receiving his gift not through dint of effort but the sheer force of circumstances. So is it any surprise if the Punjabi Muslim and his Mohajir ally, sharing the same mindset and the same analysis of history, instead of making something of their gifted acquisition went back into the past, worshipping at the altar of confused ideology, looking at the future with fearful eyes and falling into the lap of outside powers to gain a feeling of security? And the differences which still persist: look at Indian Punjab, its dance and vitality and the thing they have made of the bhangra. In Lahore kite-flying and basant become a threat to national security. Talk and think a bit openly and you invite the wrath of the ideological battalions. And in a city on the crest of whose fort the emperor Jahangir drank deep and looked into Noor Jahan’s eyes, to get a drop of anything requires a visit to a Christian friend or a spiritual mentor (otherwise known as a bootlegger). Getting a drop is not the point; liberating the Muslim Punjabi mind is. For hundreds of years men and women entered the Data Darbar through the same gates. Then a committee, of which Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is a member, decided that piety was best served if the gates were segregated. And minds keen as his are supposed to fix our economy. http://www.thenews.com.pk/Todays-News-9-219855-Historys-baggage-Pakistans-Punjab-problem

  9. Whats it matter if your Sikh Christian Hindu Muslim? The facts are crystal clear. 3 of 5 English Killers implicated in the 1992 Racist Murder of an Affro carribean boy Stephen Lawrence are yet to be bought to Justice!! The Racist Killing of Black Schoolboy Rolan Adams by ENglish racist Thugs results in a 2 year sentance!! 2 Years for ending the life of a 15 year old?? The Killers of Indian Rohit Duggal are not bought to book. Indian Satpal Ram was jailed 15 years for defending his own life. Justice? Whats it matter if its English justicce american justice or indian Justice. The Rulebook has to be applied fairly no matter what colour Race Religion someone is. Mahatma Ghandi had supported Racial Apartheid in South Africa and wrote letters sympathising with Hitlers Secretary. Was he a "Terrorist sympathiser" for South African Natives and jewish Diaspora in Germany? But a Saviour for Upper Class Hindus? or does the definition of terrorist always stay the same?

  10. Have a read of this, it's an ebook of bhai randhir singh taking on a christian in a discussion about guru granth sahib being an idol and diety. So it might be relevant to the discussion http://www.vidhia.com/Bhai%20Randheer%20Singh%20Ji/Is-bowing-to-Guru-Granth-Sahib-Ji-akin-to-idol-worship.pdf Btw brushing your teeth, taking a bath, washing your hand are all rituals. They have deeper meanings behind them, sikhi doesn't reject rituals it rejects blind rituals- things which have no phaal or fruit or any spiritual merit like throwing an idol in the river or throwing water backwards, or kissing the black stone of mecca, or throwing stones at the devil represented in mecca, or bowing to the pagan temple kaba. Guru shows the true path of bhakti is in the heart that god resides within that. If we are going to equate nitnem to lipservice then you got to realize the power of gurbani as it is to other man made books. ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਇਫਤਰਾ ਭਾਈ ਦਿਲ ਕਾ ਫਿਕਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ The Vedas and the Scriptures are only make-believe, O Siblings of Destiny; they do not relieve the anxiety of the heart. 16. There is no point in discussing, neither getting annoyed nor disheartened, because this can go on endless, and I am not interested in wasting my energies just like that. As I told you, I respect fully your disgagreement, and you have the full right to do so. I have the habit of presenting my opinions not on theories, but on facts, specially on spiritual matters, for that, I am once again going to retype a quotation of Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj, in case you did not see it proper, because if you deny the words of Baba Nanak, who is the embodiment of Akal Purukh...then who am I to make you understand? Here it goes: anhad sun maani-aa sabad veechaaree. Hearing the unstruck music of the sound current, this mind contemplates the Shabad, and accepts it. aatam cheeneh, bha-ay nirankaaree. Understanding itself, this soul becomes attuned to the Formless Lord. Your whole discrepancy is that you don accept that individual souls can exist, but in the lines above, and I can give you many more examples from the Bani saying the contrary to your own logic conclusions, but then too there is no guarantee...so it is better lo leave it, time may make you realize it. Here Guru Nanak Dev is saying, by listening to Nam, the soul, He uses the word soul(atam) as you can see, then only this soul becomes attuned, means one with the formless Lord. You can only become one with something, when one is separated from the other, because if they are already one, what is the need to listen the Shabad to become one with Lord according to you. So you see, it is not at all my theories, as you want to make us see by force, it are the words of Baba Nanak, which you deny. What we others say, you cunningly call them theories , and what you say, is truth ...that is not fair, but being arrogant. For me the Bani is not to be followed blindly as you say, but with faith, and thus for me, the sacred Bani of our Guru Sahibans is Sat Bachan. That is it Please do not insist, as unnecesarrily it complicates things out of proportion, which leads nowhere. You think, you are right, o.k, you are right. Happy? Wishing you the best, brother. Sat Sree Akal.

  17. What do you mean by that? Just seems slightly rude if I'm honest. Agreed, that's essentially the point I was trying to make earlier, that just doing the action won't get you anywhere, you've gotta do it with conviction and meaning.

  18. Dear hsingh68, One thing is clear, when it comes to Parmarth, I do not depend on any theory, nor do I try to make any of mine...I just rely and apply what our Guru Sahibans say in the Bani, and I take it literally, not as any theory. It would be a great error to do so, as by not following the perfect Bani, the outcome is only: doubts and failure. I do understand and respect your views, as Parmarath, is not like the knowledge given by teachers or professors in the school or universities, that every body has to learn and memorize...like let us say USA, is in the west, and India in the east, as simple as that, and all accept it. Parmarath or spirituality is not like that, though it is completely rationale, but to understand it and accept it, depends on each one´s level of consciousness... and as one evolves, maybe what today you do not accept or beleive, after some years, you may come to understand. But the main thing is not to force or impose anything on anybody, neither getting annoyed, as per why he or she does not see, as clear as I see and understand the Bani, as said before, spirituality is not like that. Here the faculty of reasoning, has a very little to do. each and every soul has a purpose to fulfill ... the creation has to go on, if each and everyone accepted the true Bani in the true sense, this world would start becoming unpopulated, and this for the time being will not happen, as the creator still wants the creation to go on. So brother do not worry, you are right for yourself, because that is how it is meant for you, even if a mahapurush, or a gurmukh were sent to make you understand, even then, you will not accept those truths howsoever logical they may be. I usually give the following example, Prithi Chand, had the emodiments(Sree Guru Ram Das, and Sachay Badshah Sree Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj) of Truth in front of his very eyes, and lived with them, and with good fortune having their darshan, but still then, he did not recognize them, neither accepted them as such, and was full of malice....That means, simply it was not meant for him. We are matured in spirituality with time, not by wishing or desiring it. But in the end I shall only say: Baba, jis toon deveh, so jan paveh. To whom You want to give that understanding, only he receives it. Everything else, one gets upon one´s karmas, but understanding Gurmat and putting it into practice, is by His Grace alone. Wahiguru Jeeo.

  21. Dear friends and sangat, sometimes churning anything simple, just complicates things and make us miss the objective. That even, with the fact, by the quote given by Guru Nanak Dev Maharaj in an upper post some days back, saying that soul exists, there are people who deny that, challenge Guru Sahiban, by trying to put their point of view in front. This shows nothing else, but that we are weak and poor in chit, and have not yet understood the Bani at all. The Bani of our Guru Sahibans, is perfect from any angle...not a single comma or even full stop so to say, should be modified...their words are perfect Laws for the whole humanity. From what this brother hsingh68, has said in several posts... are just contradictions in his own posts and words. Let us have an objective view on some of his words. 1)There is no individual soul other than param-Atma. There is no separate immortal soul that merges into an immortal God. There is only 1 soul, which is GOD. There is only one God, that is true as we all know, it is in almost all holy scriptures, that is nothing new. But when he says, there is no separate soul, here himself is being contradictory to what he says in a later post, when he says: Understanding naam for a second, means mukhti from the birth and life cycle. Now, whose mukti is he talking about? Naturally not of God Wahiguru, who is ajoonee(birthless, so naturally deathless) and akal moorat. So, if Wahiguru is ajoonee, then who is caught up in the cycle of births and deaths? Naturally not the body ,nor the mind, which are made of the 5 elements, which are perishable... so then what is that left, which goes on and on, in different lives, and that which is not perisahble? Because if it is not Wahiguru, nor the body or the mind who are caught up in the cycles of births and deaths, who is it to get the mukti from births and deaths? The only answer left with common sense is : the soul So naturally as we know, Nam and Wahiguru is the same according to the Bani. That means, when the soul knows or remembers the Nam or Wahiguru, it gets free from the cycle of births and deaths, because it has previously freed it self from the mind and its mentor, Dharam Rai. And he is saying:Understanding naam for a second, means mukhti from the birth and life cycle. So who has to understand the Nam? Of course not Wahiguru, because He already knows what He is. Neither the body or mind can understand what is Nam, as ther are "jarr" means consciousless, so the answer is the soul, which is in same in essence and nature like Akal Purukh, with its same properties. And the soul also does not need to understand Nam exactly, because, it is already a particle of it, but yes, due to its association with the mind, it has forgotten its origin and is wandering aimlessly in the creation. So, by the sacred practice of Nam Simran, the soul regains its real consciousness, that it is a part of Him, but separated from Him, due to x reasons, but it is naturally separated. And the proof is, we are in pain and suffering constantly. As we know, Wahiguru is an infinite ocean of bliss also. Let us ask ourselves, are we in a bliss state? No. So naturally we are away from that ocean of bliss and everlasting happiness, in this creation, there where maya and mind have kept prisoners the souls. But Wahiguru is no less merciful also. That is why Gurmukhs come and remind us of the only reality Wahiguru, they say attach yourself to Nam Simran, and slowly and slowly, all your bondages, karmas, mind maya, kam krodh lobh moh ahankar...etc, shall be removed from you, and you shall be spotless, inmaculate totally, so to merge in your origin, Satnam samundar. The bani says: sarab rog, ka aukhad Nam. The Nam is the medicine for all our maladies and miseries Supposing, our golden ring falls in a gutter and is covered with filth...that does not mean, its value has lessened... it is only it needs to be washed. This is the same with our souls, it is covered with the filth of karmas, sanskaras, sins, and with layers of mind, maya, the threes bodies: gross, astral and causal... so naturally it has adopted an akaaree roop to an extent... because as we know, Wahiguru, is Nirankar, Alakh and Agam...as there is no such thing as mind, maya ... this all exits, in the creation below Sach Khand. 2)Sach Khand has not left us.... That is true. Sach Khand has not left us. We have left Sach Khand. In the sense, the house never abandons you, but the being living there, can go out for any reasons. Why has Wahiguru created this creation, and we are sent here, only He knows. But one thing is sure, we are away from Him. If he were to explain us, we at our present state, we shall never understand it, so the Gurmukhs advise us, to elevate our consciousness to His level, and ask Him. Other thing is, when we shall meet Him, all our doubts and questions shall be disolved. Like we have heard, a handful of salt went to sea to see its depth, but on reaching there, it melt and beacme one with sea. So is the greatness of Wahiguru, the day we meet Him, we shall be Him. Not a part of Him, but Him, Himself. That is the guarantee of our Guru Sahibans. That is why, they have said: Jin Har jaapiyaa, se Har hoeeyaa. Wah wah Sachay Badshah, kaun jaane guna Tere.

Sant isher singh ji rara sahib wale used to advise begineer students to do 8 paki mala's of mool mantar a day for a year (108 kachi mala of mool mantar = 1 pakki mala of mool mantar) for a year before come back learn jugti how to meditate on esoteric layer of naam , along with poran prem/bairaag updesh, they also used to give jugti of naam just like how bhai dya singh ji acting as mukhi of panj used to give atam updesh sermons/jugti to the sangat (see- soraj parkash).

  26. I understand what you are saying but I have met so many people who are under the illusion of stages. They keep saying I'm at this level or I need to do more kamai to progress to the next level. These individuals have been brainwashed and because of all these stages are lost to ignorance. The stages for them are the hindrance that prevents them from realising God. The same people have been misled and for some reason these stages are never ending there is always one more stage before they can meet God. What a paradox!

  27. As someone who lives not too far from the Gurdwara Sahib, I have to say what an absolute waste of money. This gurdwara hardly has a huge amount of sangat, half the time the place is empty- more sangat goes to seven kings (the partner gurdwara of this one). Either way the buildings for both gurdware serve the purpose fine. Rather than this why don't they focus on actually doing some decent programs. If anything spend some money on getting us a decent car park!! If there ever is an actual good program most people have to spend half of it looking for a space before they decide to go home lol. While families of shaheed singhs are dying in Punjab, how can we justify spending god knows how much on unnecessary building developments?

  29. The Jagmeet Singh poster was posted on the Sikhs against EDL site as proof that Sikhs and Muslims have great relations!! If Jagraj Singh chooses to use the unsubstantiated story of Guru Ki Maseet in his parchar then that is his choice. Even if the Maseet story is true then why don't we see Guru Ki Maseets in all the towns that the Gurus founded. Is there such mosques in Amritsar, Goindwal, Kartarpur-Ravi, Anandpur Sahib, Kiratpur Sahib? Had this been a wide spread practice then just as each Gurdwara has a langar then each Gurdwara would have had a maseet next door built by Sikhs for the use of Muslims. You talk about moderate Islam and moderate Imams! You are well and truly suckered by Islamic propaganda. The interesting thing about the Quilliam foundation is that the British convert whose name they use had beliefs exactly in line with the very extremists that the foundation claims to counter! Watch this debate and you will realise that Maajid Nawaz of Quilliam Foundation's only argument in the end is that if non-Muslims accept that Islam is not a religion of peace the Muslims will then have no alternative but to get violent!!!

You may find the vocal changes a bit too.. * Keep sangat * Seva ( and or engage public ie help a granny cross a rd) * whatever meditation you do paaji is always good for you. * If you eat sweet n processed stuff bro keep it minimal. * If anybody puts you down, family friend or foe recognise what has happened. Nobody has a right to judge you. You are here with precious time on this earth to shine brother. * Work or home life take a fwd role in problem solving * when you get stronger you will find in a funny moment outside you suddenly have the ability to crack a joke with random people you dont even know. * dont worry chillax and enjoy life travel, meet friends, explore, hang out with folk who make you feel better without compromising who you are. If any man puts you down (because its their habit) you tell em to buzz off!

  36. A very good point my dad made recently is, are these interfaith marriages even legal? Each marriage certificate has a section saying: (see example marriage certificate here) And any Gurdwara that conducts an Anand Karaj fills it out roughly as below: This legal document signed by Gurdwara committees states the ceremony was conducted to the rites and ceremonies of the Sikh Religion. However we all know, the Sikh stance on this is: So, are Gurdwaras not complying with Sikh rules breaking the law by falsifying legal documents?

My daily walks consist of this and I don't carry no Walkman, phone or other device at all. Over a year later to the above post back in 2013, ............I am now, with his kirpa able to do rom rom simran from heartbeat and pulse.

  40. Just got directed here from another similar and recent thread. What is interesting is the breathing technique mentioned. -This is the 'wahe' on inward breath whilst bring navel in and 'guru' on outward breath whilst extending navel outward. I can confirm that I have been practicing this since I started, although when I started I was infact taking 2 breaths in and 2 out.so the 'wahe' was actually broken into 'wa' and 'he' with one breath inward followed by a 2nd breath. I can't remember exactly where I had learnt this but soon after I found that using the 'wahe' inward in one breath and 'guru' outward in one breath out was much better and more co-ordinated. I don't exactly know what it is about this breathing that helps, but I know that Bhagat Kabir ji quotes this as reverse breathing in gurbani. From my own experience I know that when I didn't do this breathing, I didn't progress. So I have always just stuck wih it and I only need to concentrate or think about it when I first start the early couple of breaths. I'm not sure if other members have tried a different technique and what their results were. I also find that this breathing helps to produce the 'waheguru' vibrations as I call them. These vibrations can sometimes continue all day long and you can feel them eminating from everywhere. This only happens sometimes and usually after a long and very deep simran. This gives me an intense urge to want to go into samadhi and just stay there if I can.

  41. Hey whats up, here i found a post some unknown wrote: "Paji, trust me - watching porn is in no way right! This is a problem of our socialisation - of your surrondings - I started watching porn in young age - 10.11? I don´t knew anything about Sikhi - I just had Kesh - I lived in a state where hardly you will find any Gursikhs ( German) - The problem was mobbing etc - altough I am strong - It somehow hurt my feelings - so I tried to flee - I revealed "porn"(I am still sorry abou - because over the years it became "addiction") the dopamine eject was what I needed - To feel happier etc.. "friends" told me to realease some pressure with porn(They said it is the greatest thing ever). But then due Maharaj kirpa I revealed Sikhi (I don´t found good Sangat, but I revealed it for myself) Then I started asking myself - WHY the hell I am doing this? I excessively masturbated 5-7 x or more a day? I was depressive. I was tired all day - and I had really really bad mood - my errection were soft and weak - and it hurted. I had no selfconfidence - masturbation - weakens you mentaly. This go on for 6 years... Until I revealed Sikhi 1 year ago - and questioned myself - I am a product of the sexual industry - a victim. I started seeing women as "Sex objects" - and then the real <banned word filter activated> happend... This is a long story... So do you see the point? Do you see what happens? You are leeched out - there is no grain of spirituality in you - you can get maladjusted, see women in totally wrong way - ruin your life - In the end it is very hard to forget this all - these dirty things - but if you try to forget - you will. Why do you want to ruin your life with porns? Fake sex .. etc? If you get addicted - or you feel the urge to watch more - it is over - this <banned word filter activated> will take control over you - if you are weak - yes I am weak /was weak. It is waste of time - and you only get problems due it - there is nothing good in it - and it is very hard to get rid of all this ... I was really sufferin - until Guru ji blessed me - with his Shabads about Kaam - Krodh - Lobh - Moh they are all involved with each other.. I really had physical and mentally problems - I just did it that excecively that I not even feel something of my genitals - It totally ruined my life - in all ways. Be aware of it - I know you have pressure but do your best to get rid of these. Now it got that far that I decided to live alone my whole life - I dont want to marry - I don´t want to expect somebody " I think thats enough to stay away from porn. I know it is hard to control - but you have too instead of watching porn hit yourself i stomach or make some sports. If you kaam is overcoming too ask yourself a math question - The problem is the longer you think about it the more paapi you will get. The first bad thought can lead to porn- first of all searching web use adblock, for chrome or firefox - second if you get thoughts of nude women or whatever immediately try to think on other things. Porn is not good - Once if you don´t manage to control yourself , don´t be afraid - just keep on going. and try harder - Never give up. Any other questions or problems PM me - I can help you. Always remember IF YOU HAVE THE WILL you can do ANYTHING! Remember if you get married , be a man and tell the women that you did such things - don´t left her in lies and marry in lies. HOW TO GET RID of all this Masturbation is not safe It makes you weak. it can lead to both physical and physiological imbalances. Frequent masturbation and ejaculation stimulate acetylcholine/parasympathetic nervous functions excessively, resulting in the over production of sex hormones and neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine, dopamine and serotonin. Abundant and unusually amount of these hormones and neurotransmitters can cause the brain and adrenal glands to perform excessive dopamine-norepinephrine-epinephrine conversion and turn the brain and body functions to be extremely sympathetic. In other words, there is a big change of body chemistry when one excessively pratices masturbation. The side effects of such changes to the body include: Fatigue. Feeling tired all the time Lower back pain Stress / Anxiety Thinning hair / Hair Loss Soft / Weak Erection Premature Ejaculation Eye floaters or fuzzy vision Groin / Testicular Pain Peyronie's disease Pain or cramp in the pelvic cavity or/and tail bone Self-Control Guidance for Masturbation This is copied from some website and this is useful method and Sikhism encourage those things which help others so salute to that man who wrote the following suggestions: 1. Never touch the intimate parts of your body except during normal toilet processes. Avoid being alone as much as possible. Find good company and stay in this good company. 2. If you are associated with other persons having this same problem, you must break off their friendship. Never associate with other people having the same weakness. Don't suppose that two of you will quit together, you never will. You must get away from people of that kind. Just to be in their presence will keep your problem foremost in your mind. The problem must be taken out of your mind for that is where it really exists. Your mind must be on other and more wholesome things. 3. When you bathe, do not admire yourself in a mirror. Never stay in the bath more than five or six minutes -- just long enough to bathe and dry and dress and then get out of the bathroom into a room where you will have some member of your family present. 4. When in bed, if that is where you have your problem for the most part, dress yourself for the night so securely that you cannot easily touch your vital parts, and so that it would be difficult and time consuming for you to remove those clothes. By the time you started to remove protective clothing you would have sufficiently controlled your thinking that the temptation would leave you. 5. If the temptation seems overpowering while you are in bed, get out of bed and go into the kitchen and fix yourself a snack, even if it is in the middle of the night, and even if you are not hungry, and despite your fears of gaining weight. The purpose behind this suggestion is that you get your mind on something else. You are the subject of your thoughts, so to speak. 6. Never read pornographic material. Never read about your problem. Keep it out of mind. Remember -- "First a thought, then an act." The thought pattern must be changed. You must not allow this problem to remain in your mind. When you accomplish that, you soon will be free of the act. 7. Put wholesome thoughts into your mind at all times. Read Gurbani. You can read Japji Sahib, Suhmani Sahib, Anand Sahib, above anything else in the Guru Granth Sahib can be helpful because of the uplifting qualities. 8. Pray. But when you pray, don't pray about this problem, for that will tend to keep it in your mind more than ever. Pray for faith, pray for understanding of the Scriptures, pray for the Missionaries, the General Authorities, your friends, your families, but keep the problem out of your mind by not mentioning it ever -- not in conversation with others, not in your prayers. keep it out of your mind! The attitude of a person toward his problem has an effect on how easy it is to overcome. It is essential that a firm commitment be made to control the habit. As a person understands his reasons for the behavior, and is sensitive to the conditions or situations that may trigger a desire for the act, he develops the power to control it. Suggestions 1. Pray daily, ask for the gifts of the Spirit, that which will strengthen you against temptation. Pray fervently and out lout when the temptations are the strongest. 2. Follow a program of vigorous daily exercise. The exercises reduce emotional tension and depression and are absolutely basic to the solution of this problem. Double your physical activity when you feel stress increasing. 3. When the temptation to masturbate is strong, yell STOP to those thoughts as loudly as you can in your mind and then recite a prechosen Scripture or sing an inspirational hymn. It is important to turn your thoughts away from the selfish need to indulge. 4. Set goals of abstinence, begin with a day, then a week, month, year and finally commit to never doing it again. Until you commit yourself to _never again_ you will always be open to temptation. 5. Change in behavior and attitude is most easily achieved through a changed self-image. Spend time every day imagining yourself strong and in control, easily overcoming tempting situations. 6. Begin to work daily on a self-improvement program. Relate this plan to improving your Church service, to improving your relationships with your family, God and others. Strive to enhance your strengths and talents. 7. Be outgoing and friendly. Force yourself to be with others and learn to enjoy working and talking to them. Use principles of developing friendships found in books such as How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. 8. Be aware of situations that depress you or that cause you to feel lonely, bored, frustrated or discouraged. These emotional states can trigger the desire to masturbate as a way of escape. Plan in advance to counter these low periods through various activities, such as reading a book, visiting a friend, doing something athletic, etc. 9. Make a pocket calendar for a month on a small card. Carry it with you, but show it to no one. If you have a lapse of self control, color the day black. Your goal will be to have no black days. The calendar becomes a strong visual reminder of self control and should be looked at when you are tempted to add another black day. Keep your calendar up until you have at least three clear months. 10. A careful study will indicate you have had the problem at certain times and under certain conditions. Try and recall, in detail, what your particular times and conditions were. Now that you understand how it happens, plan to break the pattern through counter activities. 11. In the field of psychotherapy there is a very effective technique called aversion therapy. When we associate or think of something very distasteful with something which has been pleasurable, but undesirable, the distasteful thought and feeling will begin to cancel out that which was pleasurable. If you associate something very distasteful with your loss of self-control it will help you to stop the act. For example, if you are tempted to masturbate, think of having to bathe in a tub of worms, and eating several of them as you do the act. 12. During your toileting and shower activities leave the bathroom door or shower curtain partly open, to discourage being alone in total privacy. Take cool brief showers. 13. Arise immediately in the mornings. Do not lie in bed awake, no matter what time of day it is. Get up and do something. Start each day with an enthusiastic activity. 14. Keep your bladder empty. Refrain from drinking large amounts of fluids before retiring. 15. Reduce the amount of spices and condiments in your food. Eat as lightly as possible at night. 16. Wear pajamas that are difficult to open, yet loose and not binding. 17. Avoid people, situations, pictures or reading materials that might create sexual excitement. 18. It is sometimes helpful to have a physical object to use in overcoming this problem. A Book of Mormon, firmly held in hand, even in bed at night has proven helpful in extreme cases. 19. In very severe cases it may be necessary to tie a hand to the bed frame with a tie in order that the habit of masturbating in a semi-sleep condition can be broken. This can also be accomplished by wearing several layers of clothing which would be difficult to remove while half asleep. 20. Set up a reward system for your successes. It does not have to be a big reward. A quarter in a receptacle each time you overcome or reach a goal. Spend it on something which delights you and will be a continuing reminder of your progress. 21. Do not let yourself return to any past habit or attitude patterns which were part of your problem. Satan never gives up. Be calmly and confidently on guard. Keep a positive mental attitude. You can win this fight! The joy and strength you will feel when you do will give your whole life a radiant and spiritual glow of satisfaction and fulfillment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Wisdom (gyan) : is the complete knowledge of a set of religious principles. It can be achieved by hearing good, thinking good and doing good. A man of wisdom tries to achieve a high moral standard in his life and interaction with others. According to Sikhism, the first steps to wisdom is to consider oneself as an ignorant person who has to learn a lot in life. 2. Truthful Living (sat) : This is more than 'truth'. It means living according to the way of God i.e. the thoughts should match the words that a person speaks and his actions should also match his words. Truthful living brings a person closer to God. 3. Justice (niaon) : means freedom and equal opportunities for all. Respect for the rights of others and strict absence of attempts to exploit a fellow being. Sikhism forbids the desire to loot another's property. It also strictly instructs the Sikhs to show respect even for the women and children of an enemy. 4. Temperance (santokh) : means self control which has to be developed through meditation and prayers. A Sikh has to banish evil thoughts from his mind by constantly repeating Gods name and reciting prayers. Torture to the body to develop self-control is not advocated in Sikhism 5. Patience (dhiraj) : implies a high level of tolerance and empathy for others. It requires control over ones ego and willingness to overlook another's weakness or mistakes. It requires that a Sikh should be strong willed, but kind hearted. 6. Courage (himmat) : means bravery i.e. absence of fear. It is the ability to stake ones life for ones convictions and for saving others from injustice or cruelty. 7. Humility (namarta) : is a deliberate denial of pleasure at one's own praise and admiration. It means underplaying ones own strengths and respecting the abilities of others. It is the antidote to 'ahankar' 8. Contentment (sabar) : means refraining from worldly fears and submitting oneself to the will of God. The typical worldly fears can be fear of death, poverty, disrespect and defeat. It is this virtue that has given the Sikhs the moral strength to withstand the various atrocities committed on their community in the last three centuries. at gurus time, Guru gobind singh said abt sikhs - ਜ੝ੱਧ ਜਿਤੇ ਇਨ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਪ੝ਰਸਾਦਿ ਇਨ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਪ੝ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸ੝ ਦਾਨ ਕਰੇ ॥ By the kindness of these Sikhs, I have conquered the wars and also by their kindness, I have bestowed charities; by their kindness the clusters on sins have been destroyed and by their kindness my house is full of wealth and materials; What are you giving to gurus know blady kaam, krofh lobh moh & hankaar.
