  1. A word of advice: If your'e a blighty bandar like me, who thinks he (and indeed does) speak a wonderfull colloqial rustic rural punjabi NEVER EVER, when conversing with anyone actually from Punjab, try and explain the old/new Testament parable of it "being easier to thread a camel through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to reach the kingdom of heaven". I tried. I failed. I tried because I was trying to articulate how we are valuing the rich man more than the poor man who is rich in his heart. So I translated the parable. They all looked at me like I was a retarded simpleton and started asking questions (in Punjabi) like "what kind of mental person would try and thread a camel through the eye of a needle?" and "how the hell can someone be so stupid that he thinks picking up a camel is possible?". It went on and on. I quickly regretted even attempting to translate this parable into Punjabi but even then the besti was not complete. They kept going. One minute, in their eyes, I was a man of respect "doing Phd" and the next, simply by embarking on this terrible terrible mistake, I lost all respect. I became nothing more than a man that thinks it is possible to pick a camel up and poke it through a tiny needle. Thats the moral of that story. Punjabis will never get to the bit about it being difficult for a rich man to reach the kingdom of heaven. You will lose all Punjabis (and your respect) the very moment you mention a 'camel' and trying to literaly thread it through a tiny hole. So, because I care for you all as my brothers and sisters I advise you all to never make the same mistake I made. NEVER EVER try and relate the camel, eye of the needle and the the rich man scenario to a Sikh from Punjab. For your own sake's don't do it. But, seeing how most of you are like me (not with the same thinking and mindset but with the similar western born mindset) I feel you'll be able to at understand what I was trying to get at. The point I was going to make to them, but never got to that stage because I became an epic fool, is that we respect the rich man too much. I wanted to explain the deeper meaning of the parable, articulating the fact that the rich man fails to reach the kingdom of heaven not because he is rich but because the richness massages his ego and false pride. I remember when I was a teenager having a similar conversation with an auntie (amritdhari) and I'll never forget how she quoted the fact that Sri Gobind Singh Ji was so rich, had the finest clothes and the finest horses...ie the finest things....that the Sikhs that have those things are closer to HIM. This left me despondent but I quickly realised that the mentality of the average Sikh from Punjab is to think like this. Now here's the thing. I got married in Punjab. My one and only condition for marriage was the girl should be from a Sikh family that is not rich, has suffered from the Indian progroms and would benefit from me. It gave me a sense of worth. It gave me purpose, and I thank the Lord for giving me the opportunity for doing this. But, I look around at all the rich boys and girls from really really Gursikh chardi-kala families in the UK and Canada...western born...and active in standing up for Sikh rights...and I can't help thinking how come exactly 0% of them has married a beautifull Singhni from the widows colony in Delhi ? How come, even though 99% of the beautifull daughters of Sri Gobind Singh Ji, i.e daughters and grandaughters of the shaheeds of 1984 onwards, are living in poverty and suffering, exactly 0% of our UK and Canada born Gursikhs have married any of them ? Basic Maths : 100% of them preaching about the suffering of the family of the shaheeds yet 0% of them marrying one of them thus helping them. Advanced Maths : I've never been any good at Maths but in this instance even I, who is rubbish at Maths can confidently say it doesn't add up. But every maths equation must have answer. The answer is money, greed and riches. But, as the thread implies, we Sikhs of Punjabi heritage have an inherent problem that goes beyond basic maths problems. Punjab and Sikhi's biggest problem is the way that the Badal clan 'keeps it in the family' and has kept Punjab on it's knees by accumulating power by marriage. So what do these western born anti-Badal Gursikhs teach us when they embark on their marraige liasons with other rich Gursikh familes, as they always do ? The answer is that you should never attempt to explain how it is easier to thread a camel through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to reach the kingdom of heaven.

  2. The Sunny deleted my post and banned me from posted because I asked why a self appointed anti-racism activist had nothing to say about the committee member calling the protester CHUHRAS? The lefty idiots have glossed over this fact even claiming the guy provoked into swearing..lol. Btw Sunny informant is some <banned word filter activated> who is married to a gori himself so he can hardly be unbiased having has a sham wedding himself. Well done to all those who turned up, only if more and more of these sham weddings are exposed will these Gurdwaras stop their manmat behaviour.

  3. First of all, you make the mistake of treating Bani as simple poetry. Bhagat Kabeer says in Gauri Raag of Guru Granth Sahib: ਲੋਗੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਇਹੁ ਗੀਤੁ ਹੈ ਇਹੁ ਤਉ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥ People believe that this - Bani - is just a song, but it is Brahm Beechar Guru Nanak Sahibs following tuks in Maajh Raag of Guru Granth Sahib clarify that God himself ordered Guru Ji to start their mission: ਹਉ ਢਾਢੀ ਵੇਕਾਰੁ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ ਰਾਤਿ ਦਿਹੈ ਕੈ ਵਾਰ ਧੁਰਹੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ॥ I was a minstrel, out of work, when the Lord took me into His service. To sing His Praises day and night, He gave me His Order, right from the start. In case you have doubts about the Divine Origin of Gurbani: ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਹਹੁ ਕਢਾਏ ॥ O GurSikhs, know that the Bani, the Word of the True Guru, is true, absolutely true. The Creator Lord Himself causes the Guru to chant it. (Raag Gauri, Guru Granth Sahib) ਧੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਆਈ ॥ The Bani of His Word emanated from the Primal Lord. As the Word of the Forgiving Lord comes to me, so do I express it, O Lalo. By myself, I do not even know how to speak; I speak all that the Lord commands. (Raag Suhi, Guru Granth Sahib)

  4. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH There is a sakhi about Guru Nanak Sahib telling an individual to take a needle to the afterlife. The individual responded that it is impossible. Guru Sahib responded that if you cannot take this tiny needle to the afterlife, how will you take all of your riches. They may associate with that better. Agreed - Sikhs say a lot of things. We are becoming a Panth of speeches and slogans, not of action. Guru Sahib bless this Panth with the jeevans of olden Gursikhs.

  6. Oh wat a shock, that scumbag kaminah sunny hundal, now has twisted this story to suit him and other panjabi atheists, by continuing to call protesting sikhs as "thugs". So a video showing an old committee member, swearing disgracefully at sikhs isnt enough proof of whos the aggressors/thugs, he now decides to make up his own story to fit his crappy ideology! Check out how he has twisted facts to fit his/hippy fools stance. https://www.facebook.com/sunnyhundalorg/posts/878520928884658 This man is fast becoming a joke. The swearing budda in the vid has already been expposed as a committee member, with his name, yet sunny decides to announce the budda isnt. Also in the 2 sham marriages which have been stopped, both occassions this b@ndhar has used words like "thugs", yet at both occassions, NOBODY has even been arrested by the cops. Hes now deleting msgs/posts on his site thread, which just shows u how hes trying to hide all the truths of the situation. His sources btw consist of some guy who was there. So thats ok then eh? Lets forget about video evidence of the fiasco and ppls eye witness accounts, n listen to some other random hippy guy instead?

  7. I think its pretty obvious this so called journalist has zero credibility among the Sikh community. Otherwise why is he deleting all the comments by Sikh who disagree with his extremist liberal views?Notice on his page people who agree with his anti Sikh views are mostly all Hindus, Muslims Christians. Why are tjey so hell bent on changing our religion when they aren't even of the faith. Talk about doing dakhl into other people's internal matter.

  10. It's not the wealth that changes a person, it's the ahankar that one starts to possess that changes a personality. The wealth is also a daat according to one's karm, but it's about how one can maintain it so they do not forget God and humanity. When the ego of the wealth takes over, the soul becomes empty or reduced of the qualities one once had. But to be able to balance, is also with Gods grace. For example there are two families i know who are very wealthy, one who don't have ahankar and treat others as themselves, go to India and clean the "naaliah", gutters in their pind, and it reflects upon their children too. But the other doesn't care of nobody but themselves due to the wealth. Also another that drives an old car, but can afford a Ferrari. Why? Because wealth made his soul empty. One would never think he had the wealth, but the qualities of s humble person are still there. Why are they different as both have wealth ? Akal and cherishing Gods name keeps the first family stable as they haven't forgotten what they were before they came wealthy, whereas the other family have as wealth came, the ahankar took over, and they forgot their past.

  11. heare are some verses from bible.Death to Followers of Other Religions Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB) Kill Nonbelievers They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB) Kill False Prophets If a man still prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall say to him, "You shall not live, because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord." When he prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall thrust him through. (Zechariah 13:3 NAB) Kill the Entire Town if One Person Worships Another God Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it. Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God. That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt. Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors. "The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him." (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT) Kill Women Who Are Not Virgins On Their Wedding Night But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst. (Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB) Kill Followers of Other Religions. 1) If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you. You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB) 2) Suppose a man or woman among you, in one of your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, has done evil in the sight of the LORD your God and has violated the covenant by serving other gods or by worshiping the sun, the moon, or any of the forces of heaven, which I have strictly forbidden. When you hear about it, investigate the matter thoroughly. If it is true that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, then that man or woman must be taken to the gates of the town and stoned to death. (Deuteronomy 17:2-5 NLT)

I would prefer to say, please God bless me that my forehead touch, actually not even touch, a place where their lotus feet went by, Waheguru ji apne charna ch jaga mere Mathe nu deo, even that would be if they grace it, not by my any doing. Brahmgiani status is a very high position ji.

  14. There is no doubt, as per Gurbani, (we) any ordinary person can become one with God. This is the difference between what Gurbani offers us, in comparison to other paths or philosphies .... And that too, not only after death, but right now while alive. For that , we need two conditions : 1st) His Grace, and 2nd) putting into practice Gurbani/ Gurmat/ Sikhee. And so, what does the Bani says or how does it confirm the above assertions: Following are the most beautiful words I have ever read: Jin Har japeeya, se Har hoeeya. The Bani says: whosoever repeats His Name, becomes one with Him. And this means, we merge our surtee in Him, our single ray of our soul, in our origin, the Sun. The rays emerge from the Sun and come out for a certain time, but in the end of the day, the Sun pulls back that ray in itself... In the case of Guru Sahibans, Brahamgyanis, they behold the Light of Wahiguru while they are present with us, without any perceivable outer signals, but with the perfume of Naam, which only some wadbhagee noses(jeevas) can smell. This is the greatness of Wahiguru Akal Purukh. Wah wah Sachay Patshah.. Sat Sree Akal.

  15. It is not that simple to judge anybody´s consciouss level, or let us say spiritual heights, when we ourselves are nobody, means no authority. We do not even know what is going to come next in our minds the next second, and we are judging .... This is human nature, we see all / everything, as per our square limited perspective Well anyhow, from what we have seen and heard from the Bani, which is supreme Truth, we can say gods, prophets, angels, devtas, etc ..... are nothing in comparison to the Bhagats mentioned in the Bani or even our very own Guru Sahibans. The difference between these two categories, is that, while the first ones, come to establish righteousness in the world; the second ones, come for the liberation of the jeevas from the mayavee creation, in order to reunite them with Wahiguru Akal Purukh, with the power of Naam or Shabad.. Thanks to Gurmat, we understand and accept even the former ones, as they have a role to play in the creation; in a way we become conscioussly mature. Because nobody can come or do anything, except by His Hukum. So even if we do not follow them, or believe their teachings, because we have the Bani with us, we do not fight them, or demean them, it is wrong to do so. Because, they are just functioning as per how they were designed to do, by the Supreme Master Director Wahiguru Akal Purukh, of the play of the creation. We are not all aware, of how lucky we are, by being under the shelter of Gurbani. We have to be firm in our faith, but at the same time tolerant, and feel pity, not krodh, nor slander, for those who are not in sikhee or Gurmat. If by chance we speak or talk of sikhee with those who have no clue of this path, we should express ourselves in a natural manner without trying to impose, because, what matters in the end is His grace, not anybody´s attempts; and then just leave it. If He wants, that person or people shall be pulled and will come to the path, not per our wishes, but as said before, when their time to become reap, comes. There is nothing in the whole creation, as our beloved Guru Sahibans. They are the doors, through which we reach and merge in Satnam samundar, Wahiguru Akal Purukh. They are the source of all Light, Bliss and Gyan Sat Sree Akal.

  16. Agree with MisterrSingh ji a person cannot literally turn into God, but a brahmgiani can have divine qualities. Gurbani already tells us God is everywhere, Jale hari, Thale hari. By just realising this one does not automatically become brahmgiani. Anybody could say I have realised God is everywhere, but that doesn't mean they have become a brahmgiani does it?

  17. Talking is somewhat too...underwhelming I guess. Talking requires a mouth. Waheguru has no mouth as he's formless I guess. The most we can say is They communicated, as like you said no one really knows the Specifics. Except Waheguru.

  18. If somebody is writing poetry, they are functioning in the capacity of a poet. But if I gave the impression that I thought there was some equivalence between Guru Nanak and Lord Byron or something, then I'm sorry. I did not mean to suggest that at all.

  19. I see, thank you Kira. I'm still not convinced that the meeting between Guru Maharaj and the Almighty would have involved them actually talking to one another though, and the Sakhi by no means insinuates this. I don't suppose we'll ever know the exact details of what transpired in those three days. I am in no doubt as to its origin, I only wondered about the exact method of its dissemination. To call Bani poetry is not to diminish its importance by any means brother. That's just what it is - Divine Poetry. I don't see why God's giving an Order to Maharaj would necessitate some exchange between the two. To take an example, how does one realize if they have become a Brahmgiani? I don't think you'll find any who claim that God suddenly began speaking to them "Ding Ding Ding! You've won the Brahmgiani Grand Prize!". They know because they feel something quite unlike anything they've ever felt before. They know the Hukam because they can feel it within themselves. Guru Sahib may have felt the Hukam within him.

God Almighty Himself makes them utter Hau apahu bol na janada Mai kahya sabh hukmayo jio. (SGGS, 763) I don’t know at all how to say this I say only what is commanded to me.

  21. When poets are asked about their process, they will also say such things as the words 'come to them' (remember that Gurbani is written in poetic verse). That doesn't mean to say that some higher power, or the object of their muse, dictated their poems to them word for word. The Sacred Naam acted as an inspiration to Guru Sahib when he was composing his Bani. The Bani didn't directly proceed from the mouth of God himself, but rather from the divine inspiration and ecstasy which Waheguru caused to take hold within Guru Sahib. The tuk which you have provided doesn't emphatically state that Guru Sahib received dictation ad verbum from God. Muhammad however claimed he literally had a conversation with God after he supposedly flew to Jannah astride Buraq.

  22. Well in a nutshell the Abrahamic Prophets claimed that God literally spoke to them and entrusted them with the task of relaying their almighty dispensations, word for word, to the unenlightened masses. The Gurus never claimed this about themselves. Waheguru is not something you can have a chat with. The Guru is the Truth, and these mobs of prophets are liars and fabricators.

  23. Doesnt surprise me this kind of talk and arrogance from a committee member. It is Parwinder Singh ...... Like i said before ....Its the way forward folks.....name and shame these besharam idiots. They are the reason for the number of sham interfaith weddings beadbi. Yet they dont want to be questioned by anyone. Yes they know who they are dipping their hands in the funds. Its the only reason they wont leave. Guru Sahib no doubt communicated with Guru Nanak Sahib when they reached Sachkhand and drank Amrit Shabad Bani from the piala (cup) presented to them by Parmatama. Vaheguru actually had a conversation with Bhagat Naam Dev Jee. ਪਿੰਧੀ ਉਭਕਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਆਏ ਤੁਮ ਚੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥ ਤੂ ਕੁਨੁ ਰੇ ॥ ਮੈ ਜੀ ॥ ਨਾਮਾ ॥ ਹੋ ਜੀ ॥ ਆਲਾ ਤੇ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਾ ਜਮ ਕਾਰਣਾ ॥੩॥੪॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 693}

I cant believe how stupid some ppl are, when they pathetically say how sikhi being anti- interfaith marriage in gurdwaras means the sikh population will get lower.....haaaaa. If anything it will increase, because ppl will force themselves to reconsider who they marry, and force themselves to study our eternal dharam. Fact is, whoever studies our dharam, never leaves it!

  29. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Hi I need some guidence from the Sangat here and would like to know how to be prepared to become a fully fledged Sikh (AND TAKE AMRIT) I am currently monah and have realised that I am not in control of anything in my life, I have a good Job and other things, but nothing has hit the spot. I have form a young age always thought that I have Kindness and compassion and try my self to be respectful towards people, and to a certain level looked at Guru Nanaks teachings of how he interacted with others and encouraged others to practice their faith, Me and a Muslim friend once went to the Gurudwara and a Mosque in one day and felt we broke boundaries in terms of apposing each other and talked openly how the relations were between Muslim and Sikhs over years and realised that it better to look at the good rather than the bad. In that way My faith in Sikhi was average still compared to what I feel know. I went into the mosque knowing that I will walk out a Sikh in my heart no matter what, Not in the way to apose the them if they did try to force convert me, but the fact that looking at the examples the Gurus and what they did when they were in these situation. I wasn't scared, because I already went to the Gurudwara already and felt strong. At the time I felt I was close to Sikhi, but i look back and realise that it was the fact that I liked the idea of it rather than being a Sikh. I now realise where I thought I was knocking on Gurus door back then, I am infact a million miles away. However now I feel like I want to take them steps. I realise that taking Amrit is not a restriction its more a liberation, it does not tell you what to do it tells you too think more. I.e when people talk about eating meat, although it says you can eat meat (Jatka) generally Amritdharis don't, that way I believe it does not make you sit there arguing or stressing over it, but instead you realise its not necessary to eat meat. I love that because if we make a decision on our own belief then our belief is stronger rather than feeling forced to do it and feeling inadequate, To be fair I had enjoyed meat for many years, but that's the point I enjoyed it, Had it made me a better person? No, has it made Worse ? Probably yes ...why because I felt that it was superior to everything and that it made me a man to eat like a caveman (Cannot I be a man without it?).....see this is how recently i have not eaten meat, that's what I find beautiful about this way of thinking. Sorry about the above but, that was a way I could introduce myself I guess. So at the moment the Hair is Growing and want to wear Dastar and follow Sikhi the best I can. Here are my questions hopefully you can help with, I cant read Gurmakhi? Is this Going to be a problem? I will try and learn but do I need to do this before Amrit? Can I listen to instead if I Struggle? I work and have explained to them what Intend to do, they are cool about it I do long hours (12) Can I read My Paath from the PC, with my shoes off, this will only be the Rehraas. Are there any support Networks in East London? anyone I can talk to for Guidance maybe. Also Will I be able to interact still with my friends/family) from different backgrounds and religions, go for meals in restaurants etc, weddings, birthdays funerals etc? These maybe silly questions but I just would like to have a feeling of what the online Sangat feels? And also makes me feel part of something great!

I have always enjoyed and been inspired by peoples stories, especially the ones that have been plucked from complete darkness (ie drinking, disrespecting people etc) and taken Amrit...hopefully my story will be the same, not for me but for the Guru to be proud of me, because at the moment I do feel a million miles away. 31. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH First and foremost, a line from Bhai Gurdas Sahib - Charan Sharan Gur Aek Painda Jai Chal, Satgur Kot Painda Aage Hoe Lait Hai - When a Sikh takes one step towards the Guru, the Guru will walk thousands of steps for the Sikh. Congratulations on pursuing Sikhi! We are all trying and believe me, Guru Sahib does most of the work for the Sikh. Here are my questions hopefully you can help with, I cant read Gurmakhi? Is this Going to be a problem? I will try and learn but do I need to do this before Amrit? Can I listen to instead if I Struggle? It is not required, but is it highly recommended. There are plenty of things in English (including Nitnem Gutka Sahibs) that you can use to do Nitnem, but until you learn Gurmukhi, a lot of doors in Sikhi will be locked - not being able to read as intended Gurbani and other inspirational works. So it is recommended that you do try to learn Gurmukhi. You probably have been around Gurmukhi alphabet (lipi) enough that you are familiar with it. For me, it took memorizing the Gurmukhi alphabet and then starting to do Nitnem from a Gutka Sahib. It is a struggle for about a week, but then it all clicks. Try it - it is a lot easier that you may be making it out to be. For Amrit, sometimes the Guru Roop Punj Pyare will instruct that you learn Gurmukhi ASAP after Amrit. Yes, you can listen if you struggle, but if you listen and read a Gutka Sahib and try to read along aloud, you will learn it MUCH faster. It is find to use an aid to get by whiile you learn, but don't let it be a crutch. A Gursikh should also strive to do Sehaj Paath of Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji when Amritdhari per Sikh Rehat Maryada and knowing Gurmukhi will be the way to do this. I work and have explained to them what Intend to do, they are cool about it I do long hours (12) Can I read My Paath from the PC, with my shoes off, this will only be the Rehraas. Many Gursikhs read Nitnem from their smartphones and electronic devices. Shoes off, head covered and concentration is essential. You should be fine. Are there any support Networks in East London? anyone I can talk to for Guidance maybe. classicsingh's recommendation is good. I have been to the Friday Simran and it is a great way to do Sangat with the Sikh youth (it is a youth program) - GREAT initiative. There are many other events in East London or the general area - once you start to do the Friday Sangat, the sangat there will probably make you aware of other programs as well. Also Will I be able to interact still with my friends/family) from different backgrounds and religions, go for meals in restaurants etc, weddings, birthdays funerals etc? Interact - sure. You may want to adjust your interactions so they do not cause any obstacles in Sikhi. Restaurants and etc - depends - sometimes the Punj Pyare discourage eating out (and many times don't - depends). As a person who spent 2 years in college dorms, I would be hesitant to recommend restaurants - chefs taste the food while cooking it, contaminants, improper hygeine, etc. Weddings, birthdays, funerals - as long it does not interfere with your Sikhi practice. Simple way: Do Sangat, follow the Rehat given to you and any questions you have, either ask at the Amrit Sanchar directly to the Punj Pyare when you are interviewed or if after Amrit Sanchar, elder respected Gursikhs/Sangat that you know are genuine. These maybe silly questions but I just would like to have a feeling of what the online Sangat feels? And also makes me feel part of something great! Not silly at all and very valid questions. History is full of references of Sikhs asking Guru Sahib each and every little question - Guru Sahib responded to their inquires all the time. Now that Guru Roop is invested into the Khalsa Panth - most ideally vested in the Guru Roop Punj Pyare.

  32. What ever step you decide in your Sikhi paath- do it slowly(Sehej) but enjoy it. In East London there is a weekly simran jaap every Fridays (mostly youth) at Seven Kings Gurdwara Sahib - the atmosphere is amazing! If you want help in learning to tie a Dastar let me know. Guru Kirpa

  33. Not a problem. When i was a kid I learned Gurmukhi and Punjabi after using Romanised Gutke for a couple of years (where the Gurbani is spelt in English phonetically but when pronounced it sounds as if you're reading it in its true form), so if 7 or 8 year old me can do that, I don't think it'll be an issue for you. If you can, try to obtain English translations of Gurbani too. It'll help develop an understanding of what you're reciting, instead of just being something you speak out loud. Of course, any recitation of Gurbani is good, but a curious mind will want to know what's being said IMO. Good luck, you seem eager and excited, that's a good sign.

  34. Any religion that has rituals/rites which are Earth bound will remain earth Bound. That was Guru Nanak refuting that claim. Later on he says. Then in the Dasam Granth it was mentioned again this time by being used as a means to convey the point that the battle was so intense it felt like the entire world was shaking. A point to note is that Earthquakes can be triggered very easily, by men alone. Maybe you should take a look up at the night Sky, open up an astronomy book. I know you have a massive allergy to learning but it might do you good to know that it's not some bull holding the world in place but Gravity. A part of GOD'S power. Oh look, I see science has said the same as Gurbani. Wonder how that happened. You just admitted Castes as a form of Maya, aka their false. Are you now saying that all the Saints who wwalked the Earth were bound by MAYA? ok then Yes you are. You're purposely adding whatever Hindu ideology you want into the mix. In every Amrit Sanchar people go to die. They kill their old self and their caste, self etc all become nothing. Anyone who starts referring to their caste after taking Amrit is breaking the very oath they took. The fact that you keep running from my question is only proving to everyone that you're Hinducentric views are nonsense but you don't want to admit you're wrong. You'd rather just suggest Gurbani is or start tampering around till it fits you. Like it or not but you're the one who's vain. You're kind of thinking is keeping the Caste system going despite the fact Guru Sahib completely discarded it.

  35. It's okji I'm happy being where Waheguru keeps me. Noji I don't want highest, I'd rather leave that to God to decide, I'm happy where God puts me, as when one starts thinking highest, ahankar also follows too. I feel I can learn from brahmgiani qualities, I can try to apply what I will learn to my life, inspire from their guhn, to make myself a better person, but I can't say "I'm going to be a brahmgiani". Because "I" already comes in first ahankar has beat me to it then, if you understand what I mean by that, I cannot do anything without the grace of God. See even in my above sentences "I" has crept in. So if it's re-arranged to May God grace me to learn from their qualities, may God grace me to become a better person, etc. "I" prefer to use it when I'm expressing an opnion I have, not when it comes to Gods decisions. I don't know what is to happen with me. "once we are brahmgiani once we receive the rehmat". Since when did we become God to decide this? I understand what you are trying to say but if you re-read that sentence you will get your answer as to my reply.

  37. By becoming a brahmgiani does one become God? So there's the original God and others? Or is it one gains God-like qualities or becomes one with God? A person cannot literally turn into God, surely?

  38. Nope, Jesus didn't have sex with a nine year old girl, but he did come up with the idea of torturing people forever in hell. Gentle Jesus, meek and mild. Lol

  39. Separation is an illusion. Reading gurbani one will clearly understand that Guru Sahibs without any doubt knew we are always united. Most of us live now in the unconscious experience of that unification. It is also possible to live in the physical body in conscious union with All That Is; in the conscious awareness of the ultimate truth; in the conscious awareness of who you really are. If ones belief is based on separation he/she will experience life as that superior, inferior, up down, here, there, judging, condemning........you are here there and everywhere all the time because you are it. There is only one of us.

  40. I believe the Sakhi took place in Dera Baba Nanak. It's part of the janamsakhis which have been compiled. It's one of the more consistent ones too. Guru Nanak Dev Ji did disappear for 3 days and when he came back he proclaimed all man is equal and one. That was when he started uttering Japji Sahib which was handed down to him by Akal Purkh. Guru Nanak used to bath in the river every morning for Ishnaan I believe. A thing to note is that Guru Sahib's body disappeared too, During the time after he passed his light onto Guru Angad Dev Ji. So it's all that plausible.

  41. According to the Rehet Maryada (going by the Akal Takhats one here) A sikh is everything you descibred. I believe the requirements are 1) Believe in one god 2) Believe the Guru Granth Sahib and the previous Human forms of Guru Sahib are you're sole Guide. 3) Believe in the Amrit Sanchar Guru Gobind Singh Ji prescribed. The problem arises in interfaith marriage when a Muslim or a christian comes before Guru Sahib. A Muslim believe the Prophet Muhammed is the last Divine Messengar from God, No other Messengers can come after. As a result they violate one requirements. A Similar thing is there for Christians. Even if we don't believe in the Rehet Maryada and consider it flawed (some do), The Akal Takhat which is essentially our Parliament has passed this degree. We're duty bound to obey it even if we don't like it. That's why anyone conducting interfaith Marriages is going against that command of The Akal Takhat. For all we know they might decide to change it but as of now that is the defining of a Sikh they have set out and that is the one we must follow.

  42. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH For historical context, Granthi Sikhs in Gurdwarae used to not conduct an Anand Karaj if either or both of the wedded to be were not Amritdhari. Both had to become Amritdhari for the Anand Karaj to take place and for the Granthi Sikh to agree to conduct the ceremony. Slowly, it eroded to the Granthi Singhs getting a pledge from the weddded couple that they would soon become Amritdhari. Then it eroded to the Granthi Sikh stating that Anand Karaj was for Amritdharis (and not getting a pledge from the couple to become Amritdhari). And then, you have today, where anything goes. Next, we will have a human-animal "Anand Karaj" booked and hue and cry over the equality of all creation will be brought forth in support of letting the "Anand Karaj" take place.

  44. Well these stories are true, and have more impact as they tell you about certain things they Guru Sahibs encountered and we shall too. The Spiritual path you ask about, well that comes personally to each individually, one feels it when reading Path day and night. It's watching somebody eating a delicious dish, then you ask them to describe it, but he/she can't, so unless you take a bite, you'd now know.

  45. I don't whether to laugh or cry at the comments about Humble the Poet.....perhaps you need to watch the video he did about Operation Bluestar and 1984 before you make such idiotic judgements about him. What have you all done or achieved with your lives - except sit in front of your PCs and tut tut about other people's behaviour.

  47. I know lots of cases of Sikh men with Christian brides being prevented so I have no idea why your mind is trying to convince you its a sikh 'girl' thing. In fact I was involved last year with the sitting down of an apna and his Latvian girlfriend (who incidentally was stunning......supermodel material). She wanted the Gurdwara wedding because of the lovely "colours" and "culture" etc. We sat them down and explained how Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is our living Guru as Sikhs and marrying in a Gurdwara in front of him should never be seen as simply a great photo opportunity for the wedding album. At the end of the conversation, she understood perfectly. I'm guessing they got themselves a registered wedding at the town hall as I've seen a little baby with them in the Gurdwara recently, and she seems to be really into Sikhi these days. I think it says more about the shortcomings in your own thought process so might perhaps be an issue you need to sort out on your own ? What I mean is you so much want a certain thing to be the truth that you have convinced your mind that it is so and ensured that such a thing is the only thing you see and notice ?

  49. Somehow i don't think Jagsaw Khan, Pakindi Babar or S4ngha will be too displeased ... about their beloved Pakistani brethren killing some Sikhs in Gurdaspur The alertness and bravery of a Sikh bus driver saved 75 innocent lives as Muslim terrorists launched an attack in Punjab on Monday. Punjab Roadways driver Nanak Singh Chand did not panic even when the terrorists fired at the bus and instead scared the Muslim terrorists by driving towards them. As the Muslim terrorists, numbering four, moved back, the Sikh bus driver swerved the bus and drove it away. Since shots were fired at the bus, Nanak Singh Chand drove it straight to a government hospital to get the injured passengers treated. He also called up the police to inform about the incident. "There were 75 passengers in the bus. I thought that it was important to save their lives. I did not stop the bus," Nanak Singh Chand told journalists. The incident took place around 5:30am on Monday. "The driver's alertness saved several lives. Otherwise, the passengers could have been an easy target for the terrorists," said a Punjab Roadways general manager.
