  1. In most places you are not bowing just to a single judge but to the collective justice system that the judge represents. They are not claiming any type of monarchy or dera guruship. They have tough, often thankless, jobs in serving the public. There are varied types of bowing and varied meanings across cultures. Nothing wrong with being versed in multiple languages, verbal and body. Naming oneself as "Jatt" on a Sikh forum... do you think now that may be recognizing the self with a bow of one's head buried up to an unfortunate rotation?

  2. Anyone who touches Guru Granth Sahib Ji, regardless if even just one ang, in my opinion is no Sikh. For or against Ragmala. No better than the Indian army or Hindus who have attacked Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It truly does seem like now a days Singhs are only good for fighting each other. Can't recall the last time any Jatha hum huma ke turned out to face our enemies. These debates should be put aside until we can learn to debate like logical adults.

  3. Regarding the link posted by Waljinder Singh above, underneath the video is the following comment: ^ This guy doesn't even know what he's talking about. Here are the FACTS: At the recent 2015 Delhi Fateh Divas Smagam, it was Bhai Baldev Singh Vadala Jee who punked the Delhi Committee. They were going to have a concert and bhangra and giddha the next day at the same stage and area where Keertan Smagam took place. Bhai Baldev Singh Jee's Keertan turn was at the end of the night, and it was him who SINGLE HANDEDLY got the program changed. The Delhi Committee was so ashamed and felt so dumb, that the chief secretary was on his way home while Bhai Baldev Singh Jee was doing Keertan and giving his Veechars. The secretary got a call regarding the issue and had to come running back to do damage control. Then after Bhai Baldev Singh Jee did Keertan, the secretary apologized to Sangat and said the concert and bhangra and giddha program will be removed and that there will only be gatka taking place. And after his speech, again Bhai Baldev Singh Jee fixed him up on certain issues. Then after all of this the program ended. This was the first time Delhi Committee ever called/invited Bhai Baldev Singh Jee to do Keertan, and it might have been the last, lol. During Bhai Gurbakhsh Singh Jee's hunger strike, Bhai Baldev Singh Jee showed big support for him and criticized SGPC/government very much, and because of that, he was banned from any TV Keertan duties at Darbar Sahib. http://sikhsiyasat.net/2013/02/24/hazoori-ragi-reportedly-refused-to-perform-kirtan-at-dsp-swaran-ghotnas-bhog/ Gurkirt Kharoud has wrongly stated that Bhai Baldev Singh Vadala has only spoken and made the video now that he has been removed. The reality is that ever since the SGPC secretary issue has come to light, Bhai Baldev Singh Jee has been very openly speaking against what SGPC is doing. So he didn't just speak now that he has been removed, he has been speaking on many issues for many years now. I have only mentioned a few examples...

  5. What a stupid comment. You claim Sikhs building Mosques shows that they are above 'narrow religious views' but then want to BAN evangelicals and dawah preachers? So now instead of just building Mosques, the Gurus now also built Temples ?? You sure there isn't a sakhi about them building a synagogue as well somewhere? You don't need to ban any other religious preaching, if only Sikhs were strong in their faith instead of becoming dhobi day kuttay going from one manmat to another. Those idiotic Sikhs building Mosques are the ones who are weakening Sikhi by their actions.

  6. Pretty much everything that is wrong with Punjab can be summed up with this very news story. A School named after a Sikh Guru (Sri Guru Harkrishan School) with Sikh staff, owned and run by Sikhs, tears down a Gurdwara because a shopping mall company has offered them good money for that land as it wants to build a shopping mall there. And there you go. Punjab in a nutshell. A place where they tear down Gurdwaras in order build shopping malls. There's nothing more to add. Words escape me.

  7. If Takhat jathedaars do this right thing, they should first take away Faqr e Qaum from Badal and then ban him also from using panthic stages for his personal gains - Most of you know that he goes to the panth dokhis and provide them security. Jafemaar ji do you have the guts to do one more right thing?? Why is the stick always used for general public and not politicians like him? This is hypocrisy people and not duty.

  8. During the Guru's times it wasnt allowed to convert people by force. But Banda singh bahadur set the precident forcing muslims to convert or face the choices non-muslims had to choice when he and his army destoryed town after town occupied by islamic authorities and destorying mughul rule bit by bit. As for partition well we all know what happened they started it and Sikhs finished it even though they outnumbered us by huge ratio the Sikh kill rate was massive against muslims compared to their small number. Just like how the kill rate of muslims was high amoung Sikhs when they finally established Sikh rule, those arrogent fundamentalist jihadi type muslims who resisted Sikh rule were despatched swiftly by the sword or forced to flee. The Sikh empire consisted of roughly 70% muslim population and 20% Sikhs and 10% Hindu's. Kashmir and Afghanistan and other non-punjab lands that Sikhs had liberated had a high concentration of muslim populations and when they come under the authority of the Sikh army and government the demographics ment that Sikhs had to chose between causing genocide agaisnt Muslims and ensure Sikh only nation empire or let muslims live as per Sikh teachings and have a potential problem in the future. And as per Sikh teachings that believes in egaliterianism and pularism Muslims were allowed to remain muslims and practise their faith as long as they did not harm the interest of Sikh raj and the Sikh population. Had Sikhs chose to ignore their faiths teachings like Banda Singh bahadhur and other military Sikh leaders did then muslims would have been forced to convert on mass or wiped out or forced to migrate to iran/rabia which would have been the ideal situation for future geo-political scenerios. The reason why muslims force people to embrace Islam since its inception is mainly to do with geo-political demographical strength its nothing to do with spirituality its all about numbers. History tells us the bigger numbers you have the more land you are able to conquer and control.

  9. I'll tell you 3 of the main things the Sikh Channels are doing wrong, i.e putting off the young Sikhs : Stop having dramatic music over the news stories. This is a Bollywood / Indian news invention because the average Indian can't concentrate on news unless there is a music score accompanying it telling him how he should be feeling about the news story. The Sikh channels in the west should realise that they should not be dumbing we Sikhs down to that same level. We're more than capable of following a news story without a soundtrack. Stop doing siftah of yourselves all the time. Every single time they interview anyone they always have this question: "The Sikh Channel . sangat Tv / Akal Tv are doing a dastar day / march on downing street / camp in italy etc etc, what do you have to say about what we're doing ? Would you're not agree that we're really brilliant and are doing a great thing ? We're really really brilliant arn't we ? " For once, whenever they're showing a kirtan programme or a gurdwara somewhere, how about for once telling us where they actually are. A simple caption on screen saying, for example, Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Vincenza, Italia. Thats all we ask for. Just tell us what we're looking at. If you're showing a programme that was recorded at an earlier date, so is obviously not Live, do NOT put a caption up on screen saying 'D-Live', i.e delayed live. That means nothing and is frankly an insult to our intelligence. If its not live its simply not live. Don't try and dress it up as a nonsence 'D-Live' programme. 'D-Live' is the stupidest idiotic concept ever. Find the man who first suggested the 'D-Live' idea at the weekly board meeting and slap him. Whenever, in future, any announcement is beiing made from any Gurdwara or elsewhere about an upcoming programme, give the microphone to that one person making the announcement, keep the camera shot on him, and tell the 132 other people that have crowded all around him in order to be in the TV camera shot to get lost. Understand that there is a probably a limit to how many times the sangat at large can watch and listen to 3 or 4 old men talking boringly about the same subjects over and over and over again. Understand that we probably reached our limit about 5 years ago and its just getting silly now. Get more Italian born Kaurs on. And Singhs. But mostly Kaurs. In fact forget the Singhs. Just the Kaurs. I like the way they talk and could listen to them all day.

Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh Jee did not lie. And your hatred shows, because you have nothing to say about the following list and many others who aren't included on the list: Scholars and Saints against Ragmala: Famous Sikh historian Giani Gian Singh, Giani Ditt Singh, Prof. Gurmukh Singh (founders of Singh Sabha Movement); Pandit Tara Singh Nirotam; ; Sant Arjun Singh Vaid; Sadhu Gobind Singh Nirmala; Prof. Hazara Singh; Bhai Sahib Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha, the author of Mahan Kosh; Master Mota Singh; Master Mehtab Singh; Master Tara Singh; Gyani Sher Singh; Babu Teja Singh; Giani Nahar Singh; Principal Dharmanant Singh; Giani Bishan Singh Teeka-kar; Sant Baba Teja Singh Mastuana Wale; Principal Ganga Singh; Dr. Ganda Singh; Prof. Sahib Singh; S. 16. If there was any way of knowing for sure, it would surely have come to light by now. But there is something interesting about that list of individuals for and against raagmala. The side against Raagmala seems to be predominantly comprised of professors and scholarly types, whereas the faction arrayed opposite them is chiefly made up of saints and parchaaraks. I wonder if there is some deeper meaning that can be imparted to that.

  17. I said "the only Jathebandi of any significance which disputes the Raagmala is the AKJ", and to rebut this point, you've given us a list of names of individuals. You haven't 'destroyed' anything. I don't dispute that there are people who may personally retain some doubts about raagmalas authenticity. Please tell me which contemporary major Sikh jathebandi other than the AKJ alleges that Raagmala is not Gurbani. You seem completely hysterical, accusing every single person who disagrees with you of being a liar, a hypocrite or a trouble-maker in those big, silly capital letters. Why are you so bitter?

  20. 18 - 25 is young. These aren't mythological times or even times of Guru Sahib when Sikhs of that age were the finished article. Like it or not, jathedari is going to involve a certain level of political movement. To pretend as if such a Jathedar will be able to lock himself away from the world in samadhi and make all decisions based on his bhagti is not going to happen whilst the corrupt apparatus around such an individual is in full force. In this particular age someone with kamayi AND knowledge of how to play the various vultures and hyenas that will circle such an individual is essential. A "green" young Singh who hasn't a clue about the darker side of life will be chewed up and spat out by those devious old men.

  21. Well Kira the only jathebandi of any significance which disputes the Raagmala is the AKJ, on the grounds that there are several Raags used throughout Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji which are not mentioned in the Raagmala, and because no distinction is made between Raags and Raginis in the rest of Gurbani as in the Raagmala. They claim its authorship is also ambiguous because there is no indication of which Patshaah or Bhagat authored it. I personally find it odd that they should object to it on these grounds considering their Jatha does not even perform Kirtan according to Raag Maryada. We can debate and debate which group of 19th/20th century panthic scholars supports it and which don't. Neither the AKJ nor the Tat Khalsa movement can trace their origins to Puraatan times. The Damdami Taksaal on the other hand, can. It's lineage reaches all the way back to Guru Gobind Singh's time, and to Sri Damdama Sahib, the center for the dissemination of Santhiya and study of Gurbani in the old Sikh world. Their Samparda has no doubt about Raagmala's veracity. I'd say their testimony carries more weight than the conjecturing of some individuals 200 years after it was said to have been written down.

  22. The Kesh is suppose to come naturally as an attribute. It's a sign of one abandoning a sense of duality and accepting whatever happens to the body. Equally important to this is that it is part of the Rehet. Like Balkaar said God is without Attribution. Jaap Sahib bani is a very good bani to read in terms of these sort of questions. About God and emotions. You cut your hair, do you feel remorse? do you regret it? if so then refrain from it, it'll be a challenge but you can ease into it. Strangely enough, I read earlier on that you were bullied for your looks? how have you kept Kesh since then but decided now to cut them.

  26. There is actually precedence for this. I remember when I was doing my dissertation research years ago coming across something about a Singh who was up against either a Magistrate or judge in a district court. I can't remember what court it was but for some reason Oxford rings a belll. I also can't remember which year it was, but I'm pretty sure it was either the 1960's or 1970's. Anyway, the Singh turned his back on the Court and when he was threatened with contempt of court he voicefully articulated that he only recognises his Guru as his superior and will not acknowledge the authority of any man. Anyway, in that case the judge did not find him in contempt and allowed the Singh to turn his back on him. I've tried doing a quick internet search for it but couldn't find anything so will, when and if I get time, look through some of my old notes for more details.

  34. The Sikh conquests/liberations of land of the past were very bloody none were bloodless. And Sikh battles were always defensive to ensure the aggressor did not have the ability to raid Sikh land again. When Sikhs began to forget what their 6th and 10th guru had taught them about war and nationhood then they quickly ran into trouble having achieved a powerful Sikh empire when they met the cunning british imperialist east india company army. The first Sikh liberation of land came at a cost of many innocent lives when glorious banda singh bahadhur took muslim occupied punjabi town after town demolishing it until no follower of muhammad was left alive. All had to convert to Sikhism or run away or be put to the sword as the muhammadands had done to the original inhabitants of those area's. This is the facts of what happened this is how islamification was reserved and Sikhification was imposed upon muslims after years of abuse, humiliation and persecuation by zealous muslim authorities. This is how Sikhs got their first rule not through liberal policies of appeasement but sheer brutal force strength of domancice of the muslims to show them the Sikh lion is a dangerous enemy to enrage he will chase you he will ruin your hold on lands. He will ensure Waheguru's righterous victory over the fake abrahmic islamic faith. How did christians conquer jeurueslum ? through appeasement or sheer brute force against the muhammandan occupiers of christidom land? How did the Jewish israeli's remove muslims from their lands? Did they give them money and passports to other arab lands or force them out through ethnic/religious cleasening? How did Sikhs get wiped our from their homeland and homes in west punjab and kashmir in 1947? Through peaceful migration or forced migration and genocide by huge numbers of muslim mobs? How do white western atheist bankster owned governments get rid of authority and governments of non-white nations (iraq, libya, afghanistan, syria, korea, cuba, etc) they want to steal resources from? They use sheer brute force military bombardment and strength and often at a high civiliaan casualty rate. So although as Sikhs we must condem civilian deaths and deliberate taking of innocent life as its against our religion however in war these things happens during the heat of the battle often by accident. i rather have Sikhs running the show from India to arabia than muhammadands who take the vile prophet as their inspiration and guide cos they will not let diverse and distant communities survive they want to swallow them all up into islam.

  35. There is a term in Hindu thought called Purva Puksha, it means looking things through another's point of view or "reversing the gaze". I think it is important that we get an idea from the Hindu or Brahmin elite point of view what they find threatening about Sikhs. Hindutva has a problem with Islam (for obvious reasons) but also because it comes from outside India but Sikhi is a different kettle of fish. We as Sikhs are oblivious to the impact we make on others. We challenge the authority of things because we work outside the yolk of Brahminism and we come from the subcontinent which confuses the Brahmin even further. They envy our chardi kala ness and wish they had it themselves which is why they always try to incorporate us into the Hindu fold. But at the same time they want to destroy who we are and keep what makes us useful for them. It's like schizophrenic behaviour. They then try to rationalise things by saying " Sikhs are sword arm of India" or "Sikhs were there to protect Hindus" They try to control the narrative. They see things in us that we don't see.

  36. at the time I was under the age of 15 so really not an expert on anything so I did as much as I could judging the age group (17-20) and how new to Gursikhi I was . Guru ji has told us to give advice, talk with prem, if they get it fine , else try to be firmer , if they are still fixated on doing wrong , the best you can do is make sure they don't contaminate others with their thinking and be ready to step into action if intervention is necessary . Arguing and fighting with them will be point less. Now I am older and have kids of that age group I make sure that people know the boundaries between right and wrong before they even get to the point of making those kind of decisions .i.e. we have had talks about relationships, marriage, sex and Sikhi when the boys were very young. Their sister is approaching age where I have already had to talk to her about abuse, but the point is not to paralyse with fear but to give the training what to do in those situations. You have to be aware ALL THE TIME of the changing battlefield that is life . I had to grow up with street smarts because we grew up in a rough neighbourhood , jowl by cheek with aggressive racists, and I have passed on that to my kids because believe me the s@@@ is going to hit the fan and there will be anarchy on the street. Prewarned is prearmed , those who have failed to get the message re-educate ... we are supposed to make our best effort to resolve the situation , supposed to give three tries at diplomacy then cut off and go on to defensive mode.

  37. Islam only understands and respects force. This is why the Sikhs of previous generations were so successful against it. Just as Islam had its spirit of superiority, the Sikhs of previous generations had belief in Raj Karega Khalsa and a Sikh as Sawa Lakh. If they were hit by a stone they would strike back with a brick. Unfortunately apart from a few pockets in Punjab and ironically in areas where the Sikhs are a minority like Hyderabad, Jammu and Saharanpur and some other areas outside Punjab the Sikhs have lost this self belief. There was a time when a single Sikh would have been enough to intimidate a group of Muslims but those days are gone now. Even the Sikhs of 1947 although surrounded by Muslims and not even a majority in any of the districts of Punjab had the foresight to realise that their survival lay in creating an area where the Muslims would be expelled and the Sikhs of West Punjab resettled. Now that same area is becoming a Muslim region again. Instead of the Sikhs of previous generations who knew more about what Muslims and Islam are than all the so-called scholars in the west, we have Sikhs like Jigsaw and Singh123...who think that allowing a religion which wants to enslave them to become stronger is a way of showing Sikh-Muslim unity!

  40. Over 100 years ago, Radha Soami came to Beas. The local village Waraich I believe gave land to build the Dera. The people who gave the land to Radha Swami were warned by the other villages in the area not to do it because it was foreseen that it will create trouble. But in the usual over - generous Sikh way they did not listen to sense because after all we are all humans etc. One century later, the same Waraich village no longer exists because a lot of the local villagers were forced to move by the "Dera" and now they are encroaching on other villages. By our love of humanity and generous spirit, Sikhs are being taken advantage of. With this behaviour in the decades to come, the remaining Sikhs in Punjab are going to get booted out of our homeland and our descendents will be swearing at us for sleep walking into another calamity that is of our own making. For all the Sikhs that love humanity, if you live in Punjab or have land there. Why don't you give 90% of your land away for free and build homes for those people and see how well those people you gave it away to will treat you. If you live in the UK, give up your whole house to an outsider for free and sleep in the garage, because after all they are humans too!

The best thing for the sangat to do is to stop giving them money and use that money to buy sikhi books or cds and give them away free. you dont need to have a expensive akhand path at darbar sahib you can do it at your local gurdwara or buy tons of Gurmat related items like cds, books, kakkars etc and give it to sangat. selection or election system it doesnt matter, its the mentality of the people that matters. if we look at the selection system of the sants, dera, are they doing any better. There riding around in there expensive cars like the sgpc. when was the last time we asked a sant where all the money goes that is donated to the dera and the desvand the dera gets. also ask them what happens to the money they collect from the sangat. nope we wont ask them but its perfectly fine to bash the sgpc. what im trying to say is for the most part there both the same. the people who dont get any benefit from the fighting is the SANGAT. The Sangat needs to wake up and donate there money wisely bul chuk maf

Even if Akal Takht became independent i doubt anything major will happen because its not totally the government that is bringing the panth down its our own people too. Think about it why are all the takht jethedars and granthis have their mouth shut and wont expose that the government is controling them? Doesn't one of them have a conscious to stand up and say the government is controlling and telling us what to do, why can't one granthi or jathedar risk his job to alert and raise this issue to the whole panth. Also why aren't these jethedars defying badals orders and being more panthic, wouldn't the whole panth stand up for the jethedar and support him if he goes against government and badal but nope they remain quiet Also what about all the deras, jathas, dals and sants who are not controlled by badal why arent they standing up and fighting to make a independent Akal Takht. Here is a list of some organizations with major resources and following that badal cant easily suppress 100s of Sants from Nanaksar Damdami Taksal has major following Nihang Singh has many dals and its a fauj Akhand Kirtani Jatha has major following Sant Samaj has 100s of Sants in the group kar sewa wale thousands of deras with power ect all these group cant be all controlled by badal why dont they free Akal Takht and do the job Akal Takht is not doing

  49. Spot on, the truth of the matter is that Akal Takht is not the sovereign Takht that Guru Hargobind Maharaj setup. These days it is heavily under the control of the chief minister of Punjab and the Indian government, partly thanks the stupidness of Singh Sabha falling for the British ploy of delegating authority to SGPC. Anti panthic infiltrators now directly control our institutions. Until Akal Takht us truely free and independent you will not see any truely beneficial resolutions for the panth being launched. Instead we have weak puppet jathedars who are mouthpieces for badal. The same clowns who can't even voice support for sikh political prisoners. The same clowns who banned Bhai Gurbaksh Singh from starting his morcha at any Gurdwara in Punjab.
