Dal Khalsa has done everything in its power as far as I know , the sound,Hyde Park,Banners,Truck in Hyde Park was all paid for by Dal Khalsa last year lke now

But that is not the issue:

The issue is Sikh Federation told the sangat only last week about not 'taking the lead' as 'certain' groups opposed them, so I ask of SF UK name the groups and people who objected to you taking the lead - why not name them - and don't give the Panthic unity thing just say it straight who caused the problems when and how.

Why wasn;t Trafalgour Booked last year?

Why did the SF UK all of a sudden release a flyer? When they backed out at 1st saying people did not want them to take the lead.

Why is that stupid Akali Dal Badal gang allowed in this whole thing?!?!? I thought only Panthic groups were not Panthic Enemys who have ruined Panjab and have sided with Anti Sikh forces

Why did SF UK stay silent on the issue until last week ?

Why wasn;t sangat told of the 'friction' between people?

Leads me to think - that the BBC and Andrew Gilligan have succeded in messing things up, is it true SF UK did not want to take the lead this year due to the BBC report in which Sikhs were shown as terrorists, and Andrew Gilligans report naming a SF UK guy as a Terror group leader? Is that the reason for backing out seems plausible without any explanation from SF UK as we all know the BBC;s eyes would have been on the rally this year and if something so called 'extremist'

was said SF UK would probably be named.

Why did things get messed this year?

When in previous years things have worked out couldn;t we stick to the same routine ie people.groups and so on?

Who booked the square last year, why did they no rebook at the same time,

Give me the numbers of these co ordinator guys, AND CAN THEY SPEAK ENGLISH????? Thats another question

Total disaster

The relevant point is the FSO wished to take the lead and give each organisation responsibilities.

The Sikh Federation (UK) has done everything asked of it and now at the last minute we are being asked by the FSO to do other things e.g. poster, permission forms etc. which we have done.

We have only gone public as FSO has been shown lacking in organising the event and the Sikh Federation (UK) was and is being criticised by those that should know better. One or two that continue with this approach are showing they are simply using this as an opportunity to 'shoot the messenger' rather than deal with the root of the problem. Rather than speculate and spread rumours we need to deal with the facts and make sure this is not repeated.

Once again all questions and queries should be directed to the FSO and its coordinators.

We are concentrating on making sure a good turnout from each town and Sikhs are organised during the Remembrance March to make the best impact.

How easy do you think it is organising an event like the one in Trafalger Sq. The youth are being told NOW that there is no event - as explained in the posts above, this is less to do with the fact that SF "wants to play games" and more to do with the fact that the FSO wants to take control of the event. As also mentioned in the above posts, SF UK only have 1/7 of a voice when it comes to making the decisions; so they're decision to not take a lead was almost inevitable.

SF UK have pushed the Youth to take the lead immensley over the past few years, this has transpired in a number of events beginning with Sikhs in The Square 2005. (incidentally, Khalistan_Zindabad, the barrage of text messages and e-mails from SK UK co-ordinators is proof of their promotion of the April event in Bedford!)

It's very easy in the last minute to huff and puff, blow a lot of hot air, and let your anger out at the SF, BUT you know who the real culprits are, you know the names of the people who have failed to organise the event and you know what you have to do to make a change.

It's up to each individual to have an input into an event like this and each person has to have the heart and mindset that they are going to have an input because of the event rather than the name. I think it's vitally important that you read the above posts clearly, see who is at fault and speak with the organisations concerened, rather than focusing your anger towards the one organisation who has taken the organisational, promotional and financial lead for the past few years - Trafalger Sq Freedom Rally was a hugely successful event, organised by youth which the FSO wanted to take control of - perhaps words need to be had ith those who felt they needed to take over, not because they can do a better job, but because they would get the better praise!

Bhul Chuck Maaf.

Forgive me for my many mistakes.

Come and pay homage to the Shaheeds of June 1984

REMEMBERANCE MARCH

Sunday 8th June 2008

11.30: Hyde park

24 years have past us by since the turning point in modern day Sikh history.

The monstrous attack on Darbar Sahib and 37 other historical Gurwdaras touched every Sikh soul across the globe. But when we look back at the hurt and the pain that pierced our hearts, can we honestly say we have helped and contributed to help alleviate that pain??

Yes, some Gursikhs have and will always be there for the ones that suffered and are suffering. Now we, as the new generation can help show the world we will not forget or give up on our struggle.

Please everyone let us put our differences aside and join together in paying homage to the Great Shaheeds of our time. Let our joint heartfelt Ardaas merge together and may Maharaj hear our pleas.

Rememberance March through

central London to Whitehall between 1.30-4pm

contact local Gurdwaras for transport

Below are some accounts to remind us what the march is all about.

Amritsar resident’s account

One resident of Amritsar gave an eyewitness account to the

editor of the Sikh Messenger, a British publication.

“The army pounding of the Golden Temple area continued over

the next few days confirming our fears of deliberate and

vindictive destruction. On the night of the 5th, the aged and

chronically ill father of the couple next door finally expired and

on the morning of the 6th the army gave our neighbours

special permission to take him to the crematorium. Even before

reaching this site, they could smell the stench of putrid and

burning flesh. On entering the crematorium grounds they saw

a sight that literally made them sick with horror. Grotesque piles

of dozens of bodies were being burnt in the open without

dignity or religious rites like so many carcasses. The bodies had

all been brought there by dust carts and from the number of

carts; the attendant estimated some 3,300 had so far been

cremated

Media reports

Mary Anne Weaver’s report in the Sunday Times

“Thousands of people have disappeared from the Punjab since

the siege of the Sikh’s Golden Temple here seven weeks ago. In

some villages men between 15-35 have been bound,

blindfolded and taken away. Their

fate is unknown. Recently in the

tiny village of Kaimbala, 300 troops

entered the Sikh Temple during

prayers, blindfolded the 30

worshippers and pushed them into

the streets. According to the priest,

Sant Pritpal Singh, the villagers

were given electric shocks and

interrogated as to the whereabouts

of Sikh militants. Gurnam Singh, a

37 year old farmer was held in an

army camp for 13 days. Last week, his face bruised and his arms

and legs dotted with burns, he said he had been hung upside

down and beaten."6

Media reports

The Guardian reported the following: “A Sikh doctor drafted

from the Government hospital to Jullunder to conduct post

mortem examinations said that he had seen the bodies of two

Sikhs who had been shot at point blank range, their hands tied

behind their backs with their turbans. His colleagues had

reported others, some of whom had been machine-gunned.

This doctor headed a team that conducted 400 examinations.

He said that most bodies were riddled with bullets and bore

bomb wounds. He said, “It was a virtual massacre. A large

number of women, children and pilgrims were gunned down.”7

According to The

Times “The same

doctor told

journalists that

bodies of victims

were brought to the

mortuary by police

in municipal refuse

lorries reported that

of the 400 bodies,

100 were women

and between 15-20

were children under

five. One was a

t w o - m o n t h - o l d

baby. The doctor

said that one

“extremist” in the

pile of bodies was

found to be alive; a

soldier shot and

killed him.8

The Guardian went on to report: “Another police official told

reporters that a lorry load of elderly Sikhs, who surrendered on

the first day of the military operation, were brought to the main

city police station and tortured there by the army. “The soldiers

removed their turbans, pulled their hair over their eyes and tied

the long hair around their necks. Then they threw sand into

their faces. The old man shrieked, but I helplessly watched all

this from my office window.”
