After doing some thinking: i agree with the points made by MKhalsa. That is the way to go...also the Saroops in India should be given atleast this respect. there should be a manual for various museums etc for keeping the Saroops, as the need it! they are not disrespectful, but it is ignorance, and that can end if out community starts a joint movement.

it is time to start a 'Bir Darshan Sudhaar Lehar', just like our forefathers started the Gurdwara Sudhaar Lehar.

Thats what we need singho!! A pamphlet or book detailing how a bir or how gurbani is to be kept in a museum. It should include the above points, include the humidity, temperature stuff appropriate for its age, custom ramallas etc..

an akhand patt is not to be done with it, and there should be special page seperators between the cover and first page and cover and last page so that when parkash is done for darshan it does not damage, first and last pages etc

lets put something really official sounding together and we can hvae it published and give to v&a, british library, and various universities and museums.

We are pushing to have Guruji's Saroop taken to the Sikh Museum in Leicester, where Sikhs will be able to have darshan of this purataan Saroop. The British Library will still have ownership of the Saroop.

It is almost impossible for the British Library to agree to give the Satkar to Guruji's Saroop. They apparently have over 50 GurMukhi manuscripts in their vaults, we don't even know how many other Saroops they have.

Will the Sikh Museum be prepare to preserve these by installing special temperature controlled rooms etc ?

We have already lost many rare manuscripts due to the stupidity of the SGPC etc. We need to preserve these manuscripts.

We don't want some so called baba from India turning up to the museum and deciding that it could be better to consign these to the flames.

you know, i think on gurpurabs they should use some birs for prakash in the darbar hall.

most people go to the one on east park road, i think east park road does have a museum, but the one on holy bones has better facilities and its bigger.

Veerji,

Let's give some credit to our Gurdwara in the UK who have established museums on a small scale.

If they don't have the facilities to store the puratan saroops in the correct climatical conditons th

en I am sure between us we can raise the funds in order to purchase the equipment.

As far as I know, Leicester is able to provide the facilities.

Do they or don't they have a climate controlled room ?

Are the existing hand written Guru Granth Sahibs they have kept in such a room ?

Surly some Singh from Leicester must know the answer. :TH:

StopSingh,

Please be quite, as your posts are point less. If the Sikh Museum does not have climate controlled rooms. The Sangat will Help with this seva.

Singh we hear stuff like this all the time, and it rubbish.

People say way not stop gianis from drinking, why not do this and that. WE are WORKING on one thing at a time every will be done.

Its easy to sit behind a computer typing pointless stuff.

Our Main Aim is to take all Granths from BL to the Sikh Museum and if they need climate controlled room that seva will also be done.

FULL STOP, stop wasting time.
