tell them, that akal takht (like vatican) has said that the authenticity of dasam granth is NOT to be debated and those who have argued against its authenticity (kala afghana) have been excommunicated.

then go on to quote "Bani Guru, Guru Hai Bani, Vich Bani Amrit Sare"

Sticking gurbani behind glass like that is highly disrespectful.

explain to them that our guru is not some book of paper and ink. Our guru is the shabad, the word. and to put the word in a cage like a zoo animal is so disrespectful and insulting.

furthermore, tell them if they dont remove it, it will be escalated to various global organizations, including the sikh "high priests"

and if they still do not remove it, it will be removed for them or we will die trying.

This is a joke, when was the British Library given the authority to make judements about how Sikhs should respect GurBani.

And why was a fuss not kicked up in 1994 and 1999 when the Dasam Granth Jee was allowed to be displayed in the cabinets. Regardless of our 'weak' leaders allowing this to happen in the past, we shouldn't allow it to happen anymore.

This SHOULD NOT be an argument about the authenticity or validity of Sri Dasam Granth Ji. At the end of the day, GurBani is GurBani. Sikhs give GurBani the highest respect, we don't ever open a Gutka without having our head covered or without removing our shoes. At the bare minimum, this is the respect we give Gurbani. The Sri Dasam Granth Ji on display is open, where visitors and staff are walking around without heads covered, with their shoes as if in an art exhibition. Would we allow someone to do that in our Gurdwara or in our own house.

The ball's in you court Sangatji. You can voice your outrage to them or you can ignore it just let it keep happening every few years.

If all else fails, then it's time to turn up at the library to peacefully protest. We take stands against Islamic Extremists, Gurdwara Commitees therefore we have the right to take a stand against the British Library. This is Beadbi.

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

I am shocked by the reply TavPrasad Singh got from the Library.

I sent this email to them earlier today:

Dear Mr O'Keefe

I feel you reply to Sikh concerns is not satisfactory. If fact I am

offended by that you & the Library are interpretating issues within

the Sikh Community for your own means.

Within the Sikh Daily Prayers include 3 prayers from Sri Dasam

Granth. All Sikh Authorities agreed with this and it is the core of

the Sikh Religion.

Exhibitions done in 1999 cannot be justification of exhibitions in

2004. Advise must all be taken and all scenarios must be constantly

reviewed.

I have no issue about promoting multi-culturism within the UK. It

will benefit our community. However like all religions Sikh Religion

has its principles that must be adhered.

Your display has Sri Dasam Granth open at a page with has paintings

of our Gurus. The exhibition is only promoting as an artefact, you

are not promoting Sri Dasam Granth as religious scriptures. Therefore

your exhibition does not display religious diversity of Britain.

This exhibition has been organised without advise from the Sikh

Community, therefore everyday you continue to "display" Sri Dasam

Granth you continue to offend Sikhs.

I ask you to reconsider. You must revoke Sri Dasam Granth from

the exhibition immediately in order to mend ties with the Sikh

Community.

This is a poor attitude from a Public Body.

GurFateh!

Thanks for sharing that reply with us.

Please do respond and ask them again on what methods they use to preserve items they already have. :TH:
