It would have been easier if you gave me some plain questions instead of going on some rant of yourself. First of all I am not for Punjabi culture over Sikhism. But what is wrong with some Punjabi culture? whats wrong with being into punjabi music and dance/food/tradiions. Should we all listen to English music, play secret santa, dress as english. or is that not assimilating to the British culture?

I still stand my points that there are to many over westernized Sikhs. This is proven as You would not be seeing so many Sikhs marry white people and then lose their faith altogether. Something that you have clearly got your head in the sand about. Many Sikhs are not proud of being Sikh but are proud of being British more. If you dont see that as a problem then you are deluded.

In a nutshell you dont think it is wrong to watch trash uk television which has an effect on people even white people

you dont think its is wrong for Sikhs to adopt English names, celebrate christian festivals over Sikh festivals which happens in the UK.

Its actually the Sikh girls who end up marrying out of the faith and its all down to the upbringing which you think is not a problem.

And why do you think many Sikhs are marrying white people? what are the reasons?

So I will ask my question again instead of diverting the topic to your own personal agenda. Do you not thinks that Sikhs in the UK are over westernized or over anglofied and that there is nothing we need to do to combat it? Its a simple yes or no answer? I am waiting for your responce

This is an example, maybe it will open your eyes about the effect of western lifestyle and culture has on people in gerneral, not just Sikhs but the white people themselves. This is a story of a white girl who in her past was leading the Same lifestyles as many Sikh girls in the UK which you say in not a problem and all Sikhs are just fine the way they are? You say this is asimilations and nothing wrong with it.

It's just as flawed as Western Culture, in-fact in certain areas it is far more flawed. You don't need to be a sociology professor to see even that.

No I don't think it's wrong as certain shows can prove educational and even beneficial to one's intellect. Not all shows are documentary based, there are great shows that are works of fiction but at the same time are based in real life eras. Laws,the social status and all these issues are presented there while also providing people with a source of entertainment.

If you're that worried about them affecting people then don't watch them. You're under the delusion that everyone is a mindless sheep that will copy everything they see on T.V.

When did I say that? Do you enjoy making up little statements? This all predates back to the time when the first immigrants they choose this method of merge with the British masses as they felt it was the best way for them to get along with the natives. As a result they taught their kids these similar and very unorthodox methods. However THEIR kids have actually broken out of this web. They are ADOPTING Sikhi Sarop, they are taking part in Sikhi and they ARE proud to be Sikhs. You don't need to look further than you're own local Gurudwara to see how this is benefiting Society.

A Majority of Christians don't follow the 10 commandments. They fornicate,curse and this is a daily occurrence. There are muslims who don't follow their own rules, they eat pork and don't bother doing Nimaaz BUT they still consider themselves Muslims. The same is happening to Sikhism. BUT unlike those faiths ours is actually going through a renaissance in the west where people ARE becoming more aware of their religion. Rather than a downward spiral as you're painting it, its actually the opposite. These occurrences are slowly dwindling.

Western Culture also encompasses protection of the rights of all people, the freedom to practice your own religion and provides better social benefits to its people than other countries. Say India.

To answer your question the westernization that took place 30-40 years ago by the less aware fore-fathers IS now being combated and is proving fruitful in many cases.

And Indian/Punjabi culture isn't detrimental? Rather than only demonizing the west maybe you should go take a walk in the Punjab you seem to enjoy speaking highly off. Sikhism there is a dire state, Gurudwara are run by corrupt officials, the caste System is now being re-implemented, Sikhs there are going into drugs, Guru Granth Sahib's Biadhbi is becoming more and more common and Pakhandi Baba are running rampant and preaching anti-gurmat messages.

Do you know why so many girls/guys are actually being driven away from Sikhism? it isn't the English names or the identity. It's actually Punjabi Culture, they detest it as they see it as backwards and intolerant. People have warped Sikhism and linked it to Punjabism and as a result they end up rejecting it. Until someone actually helps these people make a distinction between Sikhism and Punjabi culture these misconceptions will arise. People like you who are so hopelessly in love with Punjab and Punjabism are the prime cause of all this.

For someone that is fully immersed with Punjabi culture, you’re not doing much justice for yourself or the culture. The link to the sikh lady you provided is old news which many of us are already aware of, and they have now separated possibly due to personality clash. There are many other religious Kaurs like her; you just need to associate yourself with better Sikhs to become aware of them. The reason why sikhs marry outside of sikhi is because of the terrible personalities Punjabis often have. Please take a look at yourself in this example and ask yourself if you exhibit charismatic qualities?
