It's not even legit, behind closed doors they're still friends/allies. For the sake of the upcoming elections they "retracted" it.

I agree, that boycott was the beginning of the end. We can thank Dr Sohan Singh for that. Glad that bastar* is dead. Shaheed Manochahal too knew the decision to boycott was horrible but not many listened to him. Even today, parties like Dal Khalsa and SAD (U) refuse to stand in state elections, leaving Sikhs with no decent voting options. The new Lok Lehar Party seems to have some great leaders, I hope they have great success. Let these protest change the system, not just catch a suspect or two.

Also manochahal fell out with sukhdev singh babbar over this too. Sukhdev babbar really showed his short sightedness at refusin to allow khalistanis to contest those elections at that point. Manochahal sed that decision will set the panth back by 30 yrs...hes not wrong there, especially wen that h@rami beant only won with 6% vote turnout. Which also destroys that myth that pro india sikhs/hindus say that nobody wanted khalistan. If that was so, how come 94% of panjabis refused to vote in elections which they were unfortunatly told not to vote in, in protest?

Wow! That is exactly what my dad thinks. He hates simranjeet singh maan cuz after singhs went to the trouble and got him elected. He stepped down using kirpan issue to step down. Then sikhs boycotted the polls n beanta won with less than 10% of votes....n oppression n tyranny ruled in punjab...i never knew anyone else would agree with my dad and his too practical politics. Wat my dad says makes sense but nobody else agreed with him so i was always conflicted...so my dad thinks badal is a good guy who actually cares about punjab n knows how to navigate the corrupt indian politics ( by being corrupt himself i guess). He always says its better to have a sikh N akali dal rule punjab than a congress puppet like beanta. He also thinks bjp is trying to take over punjab by propaganda...which will be horrible cuz rss will rule n all the fake babas which my dad says are banned from punjab due to badal, will have freedom to do watever.now my dad has changed a little n he thinks we shud demand that nri get positions in sgpc. Based on population in.each country.outside india that way we can control wat happens...

So wat are ur views on the above? Especially about badal? At home my dad wont let us speak a word against him n outside everyone hates him...so i always wondered wats the reality. Is my dad being too dimwitted to see badals slyness n twofacedness n how having apna banda on kursi is blinding him or us everyone else being dimwitted by thinking having some other sikh will be better when in reality as indian states have very few power it wouldnt matter?

You are wrong on Simranjeet Singh Mann. A lot of people make a big deal about him not going into the Indian parliament and giving the Sikhs a voice there. Simranjeet Singh Mann did not enter parliament in 1990 as he took a stand on the full length Kirpan not being allowed into the building. Whether this was good or bad is open to debate but the fact is that he stood by his principles. The others from his party who did enter the parliament did give the Sikhs a voice but what voice can the Sikhs have when there were only 4 Sikhs surrounded by 600 odd criminals in the Indian parliament? You appear to be confusing his stand on not entering the parliament without his full length kirpan with the boycott of the Punjab elections which took place in 1992. FYI Simranjeet Singh had his candidates stand in the May 1991 Punjab elections which were cancelled by the Congress when they came to power in delhi. In these elections, candidates were killed by either the Kharkoos or Police Cats and I think even at least one of Mann's candidates was killed. The May 1991 elections were cancelled and then re-run in Feb 1992 and by that time the Kharkoos had achieved a total boycott and bought Mann around to their views.

In fact rather than punish these murderers he has actively promoted them as seen in his making Sumedh Saini as the Punjab police chief as well as making Izhar Alam an Akali candidate and then replacing him with his wife when the Sikhs protested. Badal has sold out his people, he only cares about money and power. I don't know what fake babas your dad thinks that Badal is protecting Punjab from because he has given fake babas free rein to create their deras and take the people from the Guru to themselves.

As Badal came out of the Panthic group of Akalis more than 40 years ago , the older generation thought he had some Sikhi in him. However he has been selected by the Indian Govt to keep the Sikhs down, in return he has amassed a huge fortune. Thanks. I need a lot of ammo to convince my dad. Any argument i bring he has an answer. His main argument is that congress is responsible for all atrocities n they are still harboring all the evildoers. And if we dont vote for akalis, congress will automatically win as these are the biggest parties in punjab. And he says if sikhs are stupid enough to get congress elected they should die of shame. This is the congress who attacked darbar sahib and if sikhs allow them to ever win in punjab they are besharm idiots. Hes also afraid that if we try to elect a panthic person or new person, he wont last in politics and like Maan will be exchanged for Beanta.also that badal has done more for the poor and farmers than anyone. Free electricity for farmers, and free dal n roti for the poor. Also that badal intercedes on behalf of sikhs like for rajoana and other sikh issues.
