The Bank of England is offering to help its staff pay for sex-change surgery.

It has told employees they 'may be able to claim for the treatment of pelvic surgery for the purposes of transitioning' under private medical insurance provided by Axa. Such surgery can cost more than £30,000.

Offering the procedure through health insurance could speed up a process that can take years on the NHS for people with 'gender dysphoria' – a sense that a person's biological sex and gender identity are mismatched.

Banking giants Lloyds and Goldman Sachs have previously introduced policies to provide insurance to cover the medical costs of sex reassignment.

Prestigious law firms Clifford Chance and Linklaters have similar policies.

But the introduction of the policy at the 327-year-old Bank of England will lay down a marker in the City.

Its Governor, Andrew Bailey, last year approved the lighting up of its headquarters on Threadneedle Street in blue, pink and white to mark Transgender Awareness Week and The Mail on Sunday revealed last year that the Bank has three times more transgender staff than the average for the UK population as a whole.

I hope their dental plan is already amazing and they offer the best prenatal and maternity and paternity leaves.

A Brazilian Model recently made a buzz when she announced that she has been getting a divorce from herself, after admitting that she has found someone else. This incident came into prominence when a model named Cris Galera chose to marry herself in a proper, formal wedding during the month of September this year. The decision to marry herself was taken as she was fed up with depending on men.

According to the Daily Star, during the time of her wedding, the 33-year-old model claimed that she was not 'disappointed' for not having a groom, but rather looking forward to living alone. However, after 3 months, she has now decided to divorce herself. Cris, who is from the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, revealed that she has now found "someone special" and has begun to fall in love.

Well shoot. If she can only stand herself for a few months, I'm not sure "someone special" has much hope.

    • Hi All, I havent been on this forum for a while but I thought id give it a try again as it helped me through some rough times earlier in my life. I wanted to seek for guidance on sikhi and marriage ... I noticed a post earlier on sanjog etc. and it got me thinking about my own life and marriage. For context, I have been married 3 years and things are not working out. When we met, I looked in to sanjog alot and it felt like it was written. However, as these years have gone by its become apparent that we no longer align with each other and our marriage is struggling. We dont seem to understand each other and things have fallen apart. We are at a stage now where separation/divorce is looking like the best option. Neither of us are happy and whilst we have tried to work things through in many different ways, after 3 years we have drifted away. What are the sikh views on this? is it written if we decide that we no longer serve each other? or is that a sin and should I continue to work at it? my issue at the moment is that it is draining me. I feel withdrawn from everything due to things going on between us including sikhi and going to the gurdwara.  Breaks my heart to even be writing this but I do think if we are both not happy and cant see a way of being happy then what is the point in continuing? Or should I be continuing and is it paap if we dont honour our laavan? if that is the case, what does sikhi say about marriage? how do I continue knowing everyday I feel the way I do?   Thanks
