Sikhism is Real Hinduism philosophy of Sat Jug. All Rishs Munis had unshorn hair and jura. 33 crore devtas all kept hair. All Sants were shasterdhari in previous yugas.

Thats like saying Sikhi is the real version of Christianity: Jesus kept hair and wore a turban.

Sikhi may have similarities with other paths but it is its own dharam:

ਦੁਹੂੰ ਪੰਥ ਮੈਂ ਕਪਟ ਵਿੱਦਯਾ ਚਲਾਨੀ ॥
dhuhoo(n) pa(n)th mai(n) kapaT vi'dhayaa chalaanee ||
Both religions (Hindu and Islam) are getting contaminated.

bahuR teesaraa pa(n)th keejai paradhaanee ||
Come and elevate a third religion (panth).

sabhan kau sabadh vaeh vaeh dhiraRaauoo(n) ||
To all, Wahe Wahe (Waheguru) shall be the word to meditate on.

karahu khaalasaa pa(n)th teesar pravesaa ||
Designate the third religion (panth) (different to the Hindu and Islam).

Agreed. Hinduism is contaminated, idol worships, some believe vishnu, some pray to shiva, some do some  hanky panky. Infact I do not consider modern Hinduism to be Hinduism and modern islam to be even close to Islam.

Sikhism is the REAL dharam --- coming down from Sat Jug.

To respond to the original topic - In theory, yes Sikhi can be separated from Punjab, however many times we feel a connection due to our history. When we look at the significance of Punjab for us today, there is none except for "pilgrimages"

Guru Sahib says the following about pilgrimages and spiritual growth:

http://sttm.co/s/21/182

teerath tap dhiaa dhat dhaan ||
Pilgrimages, austere discipline, compassion and charity

je ko paavai til kaa maan ||
these, by themselves, bring only an iota of merit.

http://sttm.co/s/165/2461

teerath naataa kiaa kare man meh mail gumaan ||
But what is the use of bathing at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, when the filth of stubborn pride is within the mind?

However, I would also want to have a connection to our culture and tradition of past and it is obviously plays an important role in our history as a panth.

I'm not quite sure of my position on this...

It's difficult to gain a firm grasp on how to view this issue. Gurbani and Gurmat in general  to a standpoint which runs contrary to any form of attachment to temporal vestments, i.e. attachment to and accumulation of land, kingdoms, etc., emphasising the transistory nature of the physical, and how none of that comes with us after death. Yet, Sikh history has indisputable moments where our spiritual and martial leaders NEEDED to descend from up high, as it were, and partake in the more-often-than-not base aspects of civilisation-building and protection.

Yeah, I know, "Saint-Soldier" but how is this philosophy applicable on a practical day-to-day basis in times of absolute crisis when we're under attack from all sides?

Are you thick ? This is our people's problem , we go over sentimental without realizing what is being said .

He's actually secular guy, and that's not what he wishes, that is what he apprehends. Look at his other tweets on farmers protest. At best, he's neutral

that is a major fib, he supports the idea of akhand bharat that is not secular.

Dude Golden Temple Harmandar Sahib .. is sooo pavitar that even Devi Devtas go matha-tek there. ..... listen to Sant Maskeen Ji's katha and there are other asthaans. So No, Sikhi on mat-lok (planet Earth) cannot be separated from Bharat.

In reality, we only care for money , that's why there're protests now when we see possibility of losing lands, but there were just miniature protests compared to this during beadbi of GGS a few years back

Miniature? You're forgetting social media was less prevalent then. Punjab was under lock down from all corners, Singhs were killed. It wasn't as big as what is happening today, but that can be summed up to social media.

    • Anyone linking the "kenyan" style turban to Ramgarhia caste is stupid lol. It came from the Jat-only Sikh Regiment in British India (folded, starched single dastar without a pinch). It's called "kenyan style" as Kenya is where it's most popular today and has a lot of Tarkhan living there but it's originally from Jatts in India. Dastar actually opposes caste as a concept anyway so it really doesn't matter.
    • you can use nrimb.com this matrimonial site is very helpful to find Sikhs and other matches for marriage in Canada.
    • Is there a need to insult someone's Dastar style? Feel some shame When you see a Sikh wearing a Dastar you should smile and think "that's my brother" ,not laugh at how he chose to tie his Pagh. Maharaj made a brotherhood in the Khalsa not a fashion contest.
    • Respectfully, this isn't a good idea bro. This is a Sikh forum so it's best not to be distracted with other topics. Most people who visit this site don't have accounts and have questions about Sikhi so we do seva here by educating the Jaante as well. Maybe create a subreddit on Reddit for "casual Sikhs" over there. It would be better as you could link that with r/sikh. And also there are like 4 people still on this site so you won't get much response. It's really inactive here most people use reddit now
    • Sikhs can sleep nanga-sirr if they choose to . Being from Punjab, almost every Sardaarji i know (amritdhari or not) sleeps/showers with their hair uncovered. I don't think Guru Sahib asked us to wear Dastar to sleep and I don't think it is in SRM. The idea of "keski being worn to sleep" is cos in Bollywood films (Bachna Ae Haseeno) Sikh characters usually tie a gol parna when sleeping since the actor's usually Hindu. So they gotta cover his head somehow or he'd have cut hair. Same reason Diljit wore a pagg to bed in the El Sueno vid. Only time they didn't do that was in Gadar with Sunny Deol which just looked odd tbh
