Make no mistake, they're not actually upset by the prohibition against interfaith marriage in Guru Ghars. How could they be, what do they care for Guru Sahib's blessing? For many of them, the day of their wedding is the closest they've been to a Guru Ghar in weeks and months. But as a country becomes more and more liberal, as ours is doing, and there are fewer things for these sanctimonious yuppys to 'rebel' against, they'll attempt to latch on to any cause with even the vaguest whiff of liberalism.

They won't beat us. Our convictions are stronger and truer than theirs.

In this instance, we should be thankful that the British government is so toothless and politically correct that it would never force religious institutions to accommodate interfaith weddings.

The temple in Caldmore Walsall was involved in something very similar few weeks back. Apparently they agreed to a wedding then told the family no on the morning of the day. The police came and all sorts. This was apparently a wedding where the bride and groom were of different castes i think. I don't have the full story.

They did apologise on Sunday last, to the sangat. Typical pakandi singh the hollow fake apology is an English triat.!

Dont worry about this issue because the anad karag is a dying breed. These youngsters (irrespective of caste colour creed sex) are all having civil ceremonies in weird and wonderful places.

The only people making noise about Sikhs standing up for the rehit are those hippies who never attend a Gurdwara anyway unless it is someone's wedding. While they are they way they are, but what is surprising is how many non-Sikhs(Hindus, Christians) are making noise about this whole issue. They are not even of the faith, what right do they have to raise an objection on this? And they even call Sikhs standing up for Sikhi as "Sikh Taliban". This is unbelievable! do they even know what Taliban is? should we now start calling them "Liberal Taliban" since they are fanatic liberals trying to force us to change our religion and traditions?

This is the incredible thing about it all, that non-sikhs r gettin in on the act, callin the singhs as "taliban/khaliban/thugs" etc. I dont remember reading of how the committee members were beheaded, or the wedding sangat was killed by a taliban firing squad etc. The fact that the police were called by the committee, and the police then went home, coz there was NO trouble/fighting, should indicate to these dumb hippies, that no thuggery actually went on. Its a word which sunny hundal, and that dumb embarassed pardhan have used to elevate this situation. Infact the polish family and the brides family were explained the situatiom nicely, and they were offered a sukhmani/anand sahib da paat instead and langar given out, shows u how the situation was dealt with.

But yea gettin back to these non-sikhs stickin their noses in, its a bit rich muslim men/women comin on facebook sayin these guys r thugs, wen they dont even allow women into their mosques, or allow non muslims to participate in nikkas. As for the video of the veers who confronted the Granthi. I used to feel the Granthis and Kirtanis should be ashamed. But if you look at their situation, they are left with no choice. They are employees of the Gurdwara. The real culprits are the committee members who run the Gurdwaras. If the Granthi and Kirtanis don't perform the wedding, they will be fired. Their livelihood depends on being a Granthi or Kirtani, they have mouths to feed. I've talked to these Granthis and Kirtanis, deep down they all disagree with these inter faith AK. But they say they have no choice. Either they do what the corrupt committee members tell them or they will be fired and replaced by someone who will do what they say. It is these corrupt committee members who need to be confronted on camera and named & shamed.

You hit the nail on the head with the Granthis and Kirtanis. It's really bad if we start disrespecting them and not see things from their perspective, at the end it comes down to the fault of the committee and those who allow these nastiks to be appointed. Anyone condoning highly disrespectful tone should reevaluate.

We shouldn't have the loser mentality of parroting "at least this, at least that" and not settle for anything lower than perfect in handling this situation because these snakes are trying their best to turn this into a smear campaign via the media.

Another issue that Sikh Council or whatever in the UK needs to take note of is also making sure there is balance and not only a peaceful discussion with the Giani Jis when its a girl from Sikh family, but also the same when it's a male - purely because these hippie weirdos are trying their best to get secularists, libs and other non-punjabi groups to get out their pitch-forks against those in favor of Sikh AK. In reality I don't think it's a big deal, but it would be smart to do this just to establish a stronger case and shutting up the individuals who think it's okay to go sleeping around with random people and getting an Anand Karaj with someone who isn't a Sikh.

See the problem is that the gurdwaras are not going to stop such marriages as wedding booking is the major source of income to stay afloat (not right though).

It is futile to protest against the family members of those marriages being held. Also, doing such damage our image everywhere.

Frustration/anger/protest should be solely focused on such management who knowing very well about hukam against such practice of inter-faith marriages and yet they allow it to happen.

The thing is that Sikh Council UK or other Sikh organisation do not have any power to enforce on the Gurdwaras. They can only advise unless they themselves have members in the Gurdwara committees. What is needed is for the youth to get involved, in the last election the young members got a lot of votes even though they lost a number of their group who left the election due to underhand tactics by the other two groups. Only when the youth start to take over the Gurdwaras through youth committees, only then will the Akal Takht hukumnama be enforced.

I think the youth members need to learn from this. Understand how the corrupt commitee operates and counter their tactics when the next group of elections take place.

The corrupt commitee are on borrowed time and there will be a passing of the guard.

As to the point about Sikhs drinking, smoking.....at the end of the day they're still Sikhs. Maybe not a practicing Sikh but still they're Sikhs. This is simply not comparable to someone from another faith wanting to marry in a Gurdwara.

IMHO, the root cause of all this is unbridled liberalism that is taught in schools and permeates every aspect of life in the west. Yet, many Sikhs living in the west will vote for the most liberal parties and call the conservatives 'racist' or 'narrow minded'. Did you vote for the party that legalized gay marriage? How about 'war on women' and a whole plethora of nonsensical claims? Well guess what, when you play with <banned word filter activated> your own hands will get dirty and some <banned word filter activated> will land on your own face. The chickens have come home to roost. What goes around comes around.

I have seen in other threads these very same posters crying about whats happening here calling the whites and conservatives who we're willing to stand up 'racist, 'xenophobic'....the usual labels. Yet here they are crying ( you know who you are) LOL!!!!!. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

It's true. If you speak to these Granthis and Kirtanis in private off camera face to face, they will totally agree with you that these inter faith AK are totally wrong. But they have no choice but to do what the corrupt committee member tells them. They are losers either way. If they don't perform these marriages then the committee will fire them but if they do it then we all think these guys are responsible for it which they arent. These Kirtanis and granthis have no power or say in these matters. These committee members are extremely evil. They have a turban and beard, but there is nothing religious about them. They run a gurdwara like it is some kind of business. First of all these elections are competely wrong way to elect these corrupt people because basically we are just electing these fake politician types to run our Gurdwaras. These committees and how they are elected have no bases in Sikhi tradition

Bro, even Monas who is informed and feels Dard are one of us. That veer who confronted the Granthi was totally right even though he may not have known that THE Granthi is just helpless and powerless in this matter. The real culprits is the committee members. They have raised untold amounts of money in the Gurdwara bank account yet they still ask for money from sangat for projects. They don't spend any money on making a Gurdwara into what it should be, a place to learn about Sikhi.
