  3. I remember going to the shops when I was young, and asking the shopkeeper how much is this and how much is that. I would then proceed to put each packet of crisps, bar of chocolate etc in my pockets and walk out. Now I did have money but my understanding of shopping was that you ask the shopkeeper and then take the goods, paying never occurred to me. Of course when I came home and my beloved grandfather saw how much I had in my hands he would usually say "hoi pagal de puthar, onu pessai daytay se?". My grandfather would then march me back to the shops and apologise to the shopkeeper and pay. The shopkeepers would always say how cute I was lol.

  4. Sadly, you're right. In 2011 alone there were more than 5 instances of Guru Maharaj's saroop's beadbi happening in just north India and no one raised an eyebrow, no media reported it. Only one Singh came forward and parceled one of the dushts to jamlok.

  7. waheguru ji its gurbani, says : Jo tau prem khelan ka chao; sir dhar talli galli meri aao‖. Guru Nanak Dev ji's bachans: If you want to play the game of love, come to me with your head on your palm deeper meaning: "sir" or "head" is associated with "pride" / "gharoor" like people say "tu eh kam karke mera yaa family da sir neeva karta" or "kehrha moonh leke jawa" etc, meaning they can no longer raise their head high in "pride" or hankaar/ego.............person with pride and ego will never bow down his head to anybody...... and when you are following the path of love with God, one has to get rid of this pride/ego/hankaar/haume/gharoor....................one can not attain God having these things in him because God HIMSELF is above pride/ego, so one has to be like HIM to be with HIM Hope this helps........bhul chuk maaf

  8. Koi faida nahi. People with new age type of thinking will think it is okay to take Gurbani to Bathroom(and wouldn't be surprised if they probably do too). With this type lack of satkar of Gurbani amongst Sikhs, no wonder we have so many Dushts like Bhaniarawala doing beadbi of Gurbani who burn and throw Gurbani in wells He probably thought, Sikhs don't care about satkar of Gurbani, so why not insult it, after all according to the new agers, Gurbani needs no satkar because it is "rays of the sun" and it is "sargun nirgun" and cant be done beadbi as a result. I'm glad there are still some Sikhs like onlyfive and JSinghnz left in this world who will not accept beadbi of Gurbani.

  10. Dear Bhaji, I don't think that attacking someone personally is a solution to whatever is being discussed. I understand that it might be annoying for you to constantly have someone with a different viewpoint, but it's not very nice to say something like that to people. Whatever the problem or issue might be, let's just discuss it with love and mutual understanding along with acceptance of different viewpoints. I hope you wouldn't mind me have said so, but I just couldn't keep myself from speaking up. Also, I agree with you that such distortion of the body is not Gurmatt. The body is meant to be kept as a sacred temple for the soul within. I'm also wondering whether tattoos have any subtle-effects on the other subtle bodies we have...

When i used to get the flowers in the garden and get a glass of water and take the petals and put them in the glass, pray to god which i then used to put under the tree for few hours and go back inside. Then after go back in garden and squeeze the petals and think the water turned in to perfume and used to test on my brothers wrist sayin, "asi hun millionaire banjana, eh perfume bottlan ch paake vech denia". 16. This is very very very good topic..i really appreciate penji starting it. For regular people like us- we need to strive for sant jeevan then afterwards after parpati then sipahi..for regular people like us its not possible to become gurmat version of sipahi until we live and breath life of saint which is - naam, bani, having sant attributes - sat, santokh, dya, gyan, sam dristhi(one non dual vision for whole creation) and sant also have killed- kaam, krodh, lob, moh, ahankar... because sant attributes are the ones who would control sikh sipahi aspect. Gurmat does not parvan or accept sipahi aspect alone of an individual but accepts sipahi aspect properly controlled by sant aspect..Hence sant is written first and sipahi..sant-sipahi. Even sant jarnail singh bhindranwale became sant first, if we look at 20 years of his early life of bhagti, naam, sam dristhi, sat, santokh, dya, gyan..and these are usually ignored by historians..he became sant first than sipahi, youths only known his sipahi aspect not sant nor they have any desire to learn about sant aspect of sant sipahi.. In fact its quite boring for them if someone is talking about sant aspect as sipahi aspect they find it sipahi machoism (super hereos- iron man, super man type of fantasy) very appealing because its easy and it sells as things which are appealing and exciting to our gyan inderas (visionary sensors) are followed besides its easy to be sipahi than sant and thats the reason we are in dandi kalah, especially sikh youths aboard..there are all hard core sipahis because its cool to them..people need to wake up and realize this is real life sikhi which changes demon to saint, crow to param hans and this is not your dream fantasy world of super heroes ..!!

  19. New cornea layer named after Indian Scientists have found a previously undetected layer in the cornea and named it after the Indian researcher who made the discovery. The findings, by researchers from the University of Nottingham in UK, could help surgeons to improve outcomes for patients undergoing corneal grafts and transplants. The new layer has been dubbed the Dua's layer after professor Harminder Dua who discovered it. The human cornea is the clear protective lens through which light enters the eye. Scientists previously believed the cornea to be composed of five layers - the corneal epithelium , Bowman's layer, the corneal stroma, Descemet's membrane and the corneal endothelium. The new layer is located between the corneal stroma and Descemet's membrane ."Ophthalmology textbooks will literally need to be re-written ," Dua, professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences, said. If you read Bhai Rama Singh Ji's autobiography he has written about how certain akhandpati's who engaged in the beadbi of Maharaj would spontaneously self combust. The Sadhsangat at Sri Hazur Sahib Ji did an ardas to Guruji to make this punishment Gupt as many people were too afraid to do Maharaj's seva after witnessing/seeing this. No amount of Satkaar for Guruji is enough - but we must try. If we don't how will we ever received Guruji's kirpa. Wahegurujikakhalsawahegurujikifateh

  27. As it was mentioned earlier, what constitutes as beadhi is intent of an individual. Once we can find out intent, its lot easier to look at things from all angles instead of one and go from there. Now coming back to general discussion. We all agree there should be unconditional love, respect, devotion towards sri guru granth sahib ji,sri dasam granth sahib ji, sri sarbloh granth gutkae, saichiyas, poothis, tatoos, engraved gurbani etc. No one is suggesting take gutkas in bathroom etc, percedence is already set by guru maharaj and sant mahapurkhs and no one has or should have any intention of changing it. However on broader scale discussion, an individual following gurbani message, individual immersing themselves in gurbani is unquestionably highest and main satkar you can give to gurbani so with that keeping in mind, if someone does have tatto of gurbani on their body for them to be reminded of ikongkar/vahiguroo ji/divinity..i simply see no harm in it and in essence its not consider beadhi..calling that individual devotion of setting ikongkar tatto on hand to be reminded of akaal purkh as beadhi that itself is beadhi. Gurbani says- keh ravidas hath par naraie, if someone wants to have physical engraved tatto of vahiguroo ikongkar for them to reminded or to go intovert and explore hidden ikongkar sitting inside of all of us..how could that be beadhi? These days everything could be consider beadhi, this term is blown out of its proportion.I wonder how far we all go to stop all forms of perception of beadhi or are we like to pick and choose when it suits us? I will start with subtle ones, we all know naam is running inside of all of creation including us as per sukhmani sahib whether we attuned to it or not thats a different story. - when we go clean ourselves while there is ajaap jaap simran of gurbani of (ongkar resosance) running inside of all of us? is that beadhi? - When we have bhog with our spouse and all of sudden random tukh came in our thoughts? Is that beadhi? Now more apparent ones: - Sri guru nanak dev ji wrote ikongkar on leaf while getting married, on same leaf probably where birds can potentially did their thing on it or worm can eat it What happened to ikongkar leaf? Regardless if someone ate it/nature did their thing or not, thats a different story, main point is leaf merged back in sargun maya parkriti , same maya parkriti will one day will merge back in ikongkar itself..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where is beadhi of ikongkar then? Surely if we are stuck in dual perception, it can be considered beadhi, and if we have non dual(advait) perceptions its not true beadhi at all. - Most of gurdwaras have gurbani engraved in them outdoor doors/pillars etc, if bird did its thing near by ? is that consider beadhi? so they should remove engraved gurbani? - Lot of puratan shastars/kirpana have gurbani engraved in them.. is not beadhi then confine gurbani in its miyan? Thats surely can be considered beadhi how could one confine sargun saroop of gurbani confine into shastar miyan(cover), is it not suffocating? its not beadhi then? - Lot of us have gurbani in our mobile phone and same mobile phone being carried in buses and outdoors where people are smoking and people have ciggarate buds everywhere? is this beadhi? - Most old birs of sri guru granth sahib are agan beth by everyone in the panth!!!! Therefore, it can be easily perceived as they are not following very interpertation of actual living guru ..I am not against their reasonings of agan beth they should explain process about sargun and nirgun fully ... how come people are not up in arms when there is agaan beth? They are burning our guru alive -birdh saroop of living guru does not mean dead.!!!!!!! If anything they should get hurt by this most and call this maha beadhi but they themselves are guilty of it having double standards..!! Anyway the points we should try to ponder: a) understand intent of individual who may be coming across as beadhi. b) try to understand following gurbani enshirned in your heart and soul is highest form of satkar you can give to gurbani not saying sargun type of satkar should be ignored but right balance should be striked to ensure gurmat sidhant is followed fully (sargun and nirgun in its totality)...at this time and current state its out of balance, sikhs are doing more sargun upasana of sri guru granth ji(which is good) as its easy way but yet ignoring gurbani message which is harder to follow, right balance should be striked, thats what guru maharaj wanted. Sri guru granth sahib ji is both sargun and nirgun in its totality its neither sargun only nor nirgun only..its both sargun and nirgun..people seem to confine sri guru granth sahib ji as only sargun saroop by blowings out of proportion and ignoring nirgun aspect of shabad guru. c) if by engraving gurbani as form of tattooo, if its helping some to be reminded about vahiguroo and go towards gurbani there is no harm- its very happy news d) There is not even single katha of mahapursh or kathavaichak pointing out ikongkar on hand as tatto as beadhi, this is entirely creation of sikhs sitting abroad having nothing else to do then psycho anyalsis on things and blow things out of propations instead of look at their own jeevan as i said we all do beadhi for not following gurbani message yet thats being ignored because we all pick and choose when it suit us e) if you must consider engraving of gurbani/tatto done on individuals is outright beadhi regardless of pure intent then please don't be hypocrite or show double standards or pick up choose, think about it on broader cycle- anything and everything which are mentioned are considered beadhi so reject them all, show same passion against them all or you can step up try to understand main message of gurbani which is encouraging everyone imbued themselves in gurbani, naam simran etc. I have been thinking about it, i might get ikongkar on my hand, i think its beautiful concept, its a great reminder all the time. will get it on right hand as i drive with my right hand and will serve as reminder to feel ikongkar resosance everywhere in all the moments. I will end my post by very thought proviking message by this penji on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=483318561738795&set=a.298540236883296.67469.298530743550912&type=1&theater Everything is you Vaheguru, there is nothing that is not. He also reveals some crucial facts about the whole operation which, according to him, was carried out by the Indian Government on the behest of the communist USSR in order to halt the moral upliftment of the people of Punjab that Sant Bhindranwale was engaged in during early 1980s. 31. I don't know why some of us immediately start jumping the gun and making accusations to someone we don't know personally!! If it can help her to stay and take the right sikhi path, then good luck to her. I can't see how the word of the guru or the shabad guru can be made impure by simply having it tattooed on someone's body. The shabad guru is untouchable like the Guru himself. Where do you draw the line of what is beadbi and what is not ? I mean the word of gurbani is from Akaal purakh himself, just like the rays of the sun that give us heat and light. Now, if we hang out dirty filthy laundry to dry in the sun, then Do we make the rays impure in any way ?? Do we do beadbi to the light and heat that Akaal purakh is sending us ?? We all urinate and defecate, and all this comes from within our bodies. No matter how clean we are on the outside, there are still dirty waste products accumulating inside. In the end, this body is just a vehicle that ages with time and begins to disintegrate and rot once it is not working. When the mentioned passes away, should we instead bury her to preserve her tattoo instead of cremating it ? Kabir ji mentions that the body is just like a karha (water pot)- it is fragile and we can decorate it however, none of this will alter the contents. The water inside doesn't get any more purer or dirtier, whether gurbani is engraved on it or not. At the end of the day, like N30 ji mentioned, 'It is what it means to her in her current stage of life that matters'' Hopefully it can help her find herself and Sikh in some way. For those members that are going to accuse me of being too soft and may be endorsing tattoos in some way, then WRONG!!!! Tattoo is NOT gurmat. It is simply ''Dishonoring' of the body- just like cutting, coloring or altering the shape structure of your hair. The rehat specifies that the hair and natural body should NOT be dishonoured in any way. Yes, I know the rehat doesn't specifically mention tattoos, but it clearly mentions coloring of hair amounts to dishonor even though you don't cut it. Therefore, colouring or painting of the body would amount to the same kind ! Hopefully, one day she may realize that doing the tattoo was wrong and dishonoring, even if it helped her align strongly onto the sikhi path. That is ALL I can wish for personally, and it is ALL that I would say if I met her face to face. I can't see why a sinner and lowlife like me should tell her what she should and shouldn't do. If she felt the need to be reminded and exposed to Shabad Guru everyday in this manner. then good luck to her, i hope it helps her find herself.

  33. Singh I listen to 12 hours of katha daily now and whilst listening i take notes of times of recordings, which recordings and subjects. As soon as the family fall asleep i get to work editing cleaning and compressing files so its easy for sangat to download and listen with the use of minimal bandwith plus give them something to listen to on their phones when walking to the shops or on the bus to work, etc. It does not matter about the work or time it takes as long as it enhances everyones views and we can bring the level of sikhi and discussion back to the 2004 - 2005 sikhawareness days where everything was so deep rather then argueing with our fellow brothers and sisters, Hopefully we will be able to take about avasthas, chakras, anahad shabad, raag naad, vidiya, budhi, antreev arths, etc through small concise snippits of katha based purely on Gurbani.

  34. Yes Tattoos are a grey area. However if we bring this debate to its basics, without beating around the bush.... It doesn’t matter where or how Gurbani is written, it should be given the utmost respect. I'm not pointing the finger at Bajwa, but I guess she is representing Sikhs when she is on screen, and especially now that she has Bani on her arm. Again, this applies to everyone who has Bani tattooed to them. If you can give it the utmost respect then fine, otherwise leave well alone. Just a note on how much satkaar is given to not just Gurbani, but Gurmukhi. In some katha I heard, Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji along with some other Singh’s heard another Gursikh meditating and reciting the Gurmukhi alphabet in the early hours of the morning. When the Singhs asked Sant Ji why, he replied "Gurmukhi, is just that.... It is from the mouth of the Guru, and some people have that much respect for it, they obtain raas just by repeating Gurmukhi".

  35. I'm pretty sure she'd have no qualms in removing hair so that she could have the tattoo done as she already does beadbi of kesh elsewhere on her body (head, face etc). ਜਉ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਖੇਲਣ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥ If you desire to play this game of love with Me, ਸਿਰੁ ਧਰਿ ਤਲੀ ਗਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਉ ॥ Then step onto My Path with your head in hand. If she had even attempted to understand this pankti on a basic level she would know that this 'game of love' (the path of Gursikhi) requires surrendering your mind, body and soul to Guru Ji. By doing so you accept that nothing is yours and everything belongs to Guru Ji and you keep your body and kesh intact and that involves no tattoos or piercings or other body modification and no beadbi of kesh. You take khande bhatte da Amrit and don the 5 kakkars- that includes a real kirpan and not just an image of one on your forearm, as after all what practical purpose does that serve? If you want a reminder to stay strong in your faith and incorporate as much bani, bana, seva and simran into you life as possible then just keep one visual reminder at the forefront of your mind- a reminder of the countless number of shaheeds in our history, all the sacrifices that our Gurus and their Sikhs made for us. Remember those who were scalped alive, sawn in half, boiled alive and cut piece by piece and still refused to give up kesh, their Sikhi and their love for their Guru. Also, the problem with dismissing her tattoo as a trivial issue is the fact that as an actress she has quite a large following inside and outside of India and I'm sure plenty of people, and especially young Panjabi girls, may look up to her as a role model. What's to stop them following in her footsteps and thinking it's okay to have a tattoo like this? Older Gursikhs may have an Ik Onkar on their hands but two wrongs never make a right. And when someone like Neeru Bajwa is in the limelight and forever prancing around on screen with Harbhajan Mann in an endless stream of movies then you have certain moral duties to uphold as I'm sure she has a massive number of impressionable, young fans who may already have doubts about their fath, religion and identity and I think she is sending the wrong message across.

I understand what you saying from satkar perspective, we can have vichar on sargun and nirgun ommnipresence/everywhere aspect of gurbani/bhagat pipa shabad in first page regarding this and i also know main stage of satkar of gurbani is when we live our life with self realization vahiguroo is everywhere and in everything, according to gurbani sidhant, perceive there is no dualism as such..i do have vichar on this rather not share here...,afraid i might be taken out of context..may be some other time..

  37. I think people should not put Tattoo of Gurbani on any part of their body. Say if they go to the toilet to answer call of nature, that means that Gurbani tukh which is inscribed on their body goes with them in the washroom! that's pure beadbi. That's almost like taking a Gutka to the washroom! Just because the previous generation did something wrong doesn't make it okay to follow. This beadbi wala trend must be discouraged.

  39. Hows that different from ikongkar tatto our people (previous generation) have on both male and female alike? Atleast she has some pride/anakh in her, who knows? eventually she will eventually come in khalsa life style become amritdhari and shastardhari after keep pondering upon tuk which is engraved in her hand..!!..in my personal opinion, she should have gotten tatto in english so it does not come across as beadhi or hurt other sikh sentiments- however what defines good or bad karma is person intent...everyone is different and at different state of mind seek different ways to get inspiration in sikhi, and for her may be having tatto helps her to remind vahiguroo ji and recite more gurbani..we cannot judge..yes gurbani in gurmukhi engraved in her hand may come across as beadhi but if you do feel very strongly about this, please start off against previous generation both male and female having ikongkar tatto on their hand..!! Does anyone remember ks makhan(singer) taking amrit? Had he come across with self righteous people on here, he may have swayed somewhere else..!!

  46. My angle of looking at this is from Satkar of Bani. A Sikh does full Satkar of Bani because Bani is mother of a Sikh. If a person does a tattoo on their hand or fore arm of a Tukh from Bani and say if that person is eating, with that jhootay hands they will accidently touch the Gurbani Tuk. Or say if that person urinates and some drops of the urine accidently end up touching the tattoo, that is the worst beadbi a person can do. Most Sikhs who have Gurbani tattoos, out of ignorance think they are some how showing their pride in their religion. They don't realise the best way is not tattoos, but by following Hukams of Guru Jee.
