  1. Apologies to everyone who have seen this already. It is not strictly Sikhi related but I wanted to highlight how even a Chinese guy can speak fluent Punjabi yet many people in the West especially kids struggle with stringing a simple sentence together.

  3. The rotten Indian media has once again proven that its mentality is much lower and much dirtier than the bishta of an unclean stray dog, and that its attitude towards Sikhs is much worse than that of a jealous and hateful step brother or step sister. Singhs who went on to the Facebook pages of various Indian news channels and posted about Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa ji had their messages reported as "spam", which resulted in a temporary block on the accounts of those Singhs from making any public posts for some time. Not that our Singhs care 2 cents about such a ridiculous blockage, but it does expose the fact that Sikhs and their serious concerns are seen as "spam" by the Indian media. Shame on you Indian media! Shame on you for once again missing out a chance to prove that you would be just a bit concerned about the Sikhs, even if you had to fake it!

  4. ***** Update from Amb sahib Important benti to Western Sangat. It is being said that Morcha has hit a road block and there is no media coverage, and due to this reason, majority of Punjabis dont know about Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa and their Hunger Strike. So here is the solution -- Western Jathebandis and Individuals (who are capable) MUST give out FULL PAGE ADVERTS in PUNJABI, HINDI and ENGLISH newspapers in Punjab and India, detailing Sangharsh of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Ji, and telling people why a Human being is starving himself from last 30 days. We have FSO in UK, Gurudwara Committees in UK , Canada, USA who can do it. We have well-t0-do Individuals who can buy a whole page and tell people about Bhai Sahib. (Not all Sikhs are on FB or twitter etc, and not ALL TV channels are covering the protest, but Newspapers reach even remote areas.) Second, Western Jathebandis and Leaders should call their Punjab counterparts, and ask them to WAKE UP and MOVE ... and do something. Please ask PUNJAB LEADERS whom you send money and support on TV channels and during their visits to West -- To get their parties/dals/organizations to move and work on ground. Please ask them to send their volunteers in Villages, paste Bhai Sahib's posters, do announcements in Gurudwaras and talk to Panchayats and get Sangat to Amb Sahib Gurudwara. THESE 2 SUGGESTIONS will work if someone comes forward to implement them.

These had the least saturated fat and carbs for any chicken style without egg. The closet is the quorn range but that has egg. Does anyone know of where I can get some other chicken style pieces or any veggie meat with low carbs and sat fat, with high protein? Thanks

  12. By Ayaz Amir Arising from the same soil, breathing the same air, moving to the same folk songs and music, defined by the same five rivers, Punjab over the centuries has yet produced two distinct types of personality: the Muslim Punjabi and the Sikh Punjabi. There is also the Hindu Punjabi but for ease of discussion let the first two categories suffice. The Sikhs were not just the followers of a new religion. Under a succession of Sikh warlords taking advantage of the long twilight of the Mughal Empire, and then under Ranjit Singh who founded a Sikh kingdom – the first unified Punjabi political entity in over 2000 years – they became a nation. In this journey from obscurity to kingship, the Sikhs proved themselves tough warriors, more than a match for the Mughals to the east and the Afghans to the west. After Nadir Shah’s invasion of India (1739 – a mere 32 years after the death of Aurangzeb) Punjab fell from Mughal hands, becoming first a possession of Nadir Shah’s empire and then part of Ahmed Shah Abdali’s kingdom of Kabul. The Sikhs took back Punjab from the Afghans and through war and conquest Ranjit Singh made Peshawar a part of his Sikh kingdom. Successors to the Sikhs were the British and when the Lahore Durbar, after the death of Ranjit Singh, became a victim of intrigue and dissension, and the Khalsa army suffered defeat in two wars, Punjab became part of the British Empire. And we have succeeded the British. Ranjit Singh’s success was on the battlefield. His failure was the failure of Indian despotism, Muslim and non-Muslim alike: the inability to lay the foundations of a lasting political order. The Delhi Sultans couldn’t do it; the Mughals couldn’t do it; and Ranjit Singh failed in the same measure. There’s one thing missing from this picture. Even when Ranjit Singh was lord of Punjab, Muslims constituted the majority in his kingdom, as also in Kashmir. But from the death of Aurangzeb in 1707 right up to the British annexation of Punjab in 1849, a span of 150 years, Muslim governors and commanders – in Kasur, Multan and elsewhere – appear as minor characters, acknowledging the suzerainty of Kabul or Lahore, but lacking the dash or energy to fill the vacuum caused by the collapse of Mughal power in Punjab. The Sikhs made that grab for power. They had the drive and the ability, and the fighting prowess. But where was the Punjabi Muslim? Why wasn’t he able to throw up a leadership equal in valour and élan to the rampaging Sikh? The Chathas would sometimes put up a fight, as would the Bhattis and, to the north, tribes like the Janjuas. But they couldn’t stand up to Sikh power. One Muslim name stands out: that of Adina Beg Khan who through ability and intelligence became very briefly ruler of Lahore. But he died and that was it and soon over the battlements of the Lahore Fort, built by Akbar the Great, shone the star of Ranjit Singh. This is not history for the sake of history. It sheds some light on our predicament today. Indian Punjab is just a planet in the Indian constellation. But Pakistani Punjab because of numbers and resources, representation in the army and administration, is the engine, the motor, the driving force of this republic. We lament the quality of leadership… that we could do much better if we had a better leadership class. But if Muslim Punjab couldn’t perform this feat in that long interregnum of Mughal decline, by what magic does it reverse the dynamics of history and from the same air, the same soil, the same rivers – in fact no longer five but three – produce a class of warriors and administrators (warriors in the metaphorical sense) that can lead Pakistan out of the shadows and into the sun? We are successors not to the Sikhs but the British. Lahore today – its Mall, its old buildings, its seats of authority, the best of its schools and colleges, the best of its hospitals, the Secretariat, the police chief’s office, the assembly building, the high court – is a reminder not of our Sikh but our British past. The settlement of land, the demarcation of tehsil and district boundaries, qanungo and patwar circles, even thana jurisdictions (many of them) are a reflection of that past. The British were not just conquerors. They were more than that, flag-bearers of a superior civilisation. Japan embraced this civilisation and became a great power. China has embraced the same civilisation – signified by knowledge and learning – and is on its path to world greatness. The Punjabi Muslim had no qualms about enlisting in the British army and fighting its battles in distant lands. The Muslim Punjabi from Chakwal, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Attock and the other enlistment districts distinguished himself under British colours, sometimes even winning the highest awards. As a subordinate there was no one who came near his merit. But when it came to acquiring the mental habits of that superior civilisation there arose before him problems of the mind and psychology. Punjab was the sword arm of the empire but the Muslim component of its mind remained trapped in a time warp. Instead of looking forward and stepping into the future the Punjabi mind harked back to an imaginary past, there seeking its greatest comfort. The Pathan was not afraid of India. He had ruled India in the past. The Sindhi had no problem with India. For centuries past Muslims and Hindus had lived together in Sindh in amity. The Baloch imagination moved in other spheres: Iran to the west, Afghanistan to the north. As for the Kashmiri, his fate had not figured in the convoluted events leading up to Partition. The fear of India was an obsession of the Punjabi ruling class and its ideological fellow-travellers crossing over from East Punjab, Delhi, Lucknow, Bhopal, Bihar and Hyderabad Deccan. Fear and insecurity they carried in their hearts and minds and fear and insecurity they made part of the ruling ethos of the new state. There was another thing to note. Muslim conquerors had won their Indian dominion at the point of the sword. The Mughals had gained their empire the same way. Ranjit Singh created his Sikh kingdom by the sword and a high order of statesmanship. The British won their empire through the sword and the power of a forward civilisation. But the Punjabi Muslim, now the dominant partner in the new state, was receiving his gift not through dint of effort but the sheer force of circumstances. So is it any surprise if the Punjabi Muslim and his Mohajir ally, sharing the same mindset and the same analysis of history, instead of making something of their gifted acquisition went back into the past, worshipping at the altar of confused ideology, looking at the future with fearful eyes and falling into the lap of outside powers to gain a feeling of security? And the differences which still persist: look at Indian Punjab, its dance and vitality and the thing they have made of the bhangra. In Lahore kite-flying and basant become a threat to national security. Talk and think a bit openly and you invite the wrath of the ideological battalions. And in a city on the crest of whose fort the emperor Jahangir drank deep and looked into Noor Jahan’s eyes, to get a drop of anything requires a visit to a Christian friend or a spiritual mentor (otherwise known as a bootlegger). Getting a drop is not the point; liberating the Muslim Punjabi mind is. For hundreds of years men and women entered the Data Darbar through the same gates. Then a committee, of which Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is a member, decided that piety was best served if the gates were segregated. And minds keen as his are supposed to fix our economy. http://www.thenews.com.pk/Todays-News-9-219855-Historys-baggage-Pakistans-Punjab-problem

  17. 08 Dec: Domegaon is a village in the outlying Shrirampur Tehsil of Ahmednagar District in Maharashtra located on the banks of River Godavari, 80 Kms from Ahmednagar, 22 Kms from Shrirampur and 7 Kms from hokar on the Shrirampur- Aurangabad road. It is equidistant from Nashik, Aurangabad and Manmad – some 100 Kms, or 2-1/2 hours journey by bus. Belapur Railway Station is the nearest railway link, about one kilometer from Shrirampur Bus Stand, while Pune Lohegaon Airport, about 110 km from Ahmednagar, is the nearest air link. I would not have dreamt of going to this obscure village even before 21 June 1994, but for my colleague, Capt. Hardev Singh’s insistence. He appeared excited. We did not have much information about the place except a hearsay report: “The villagers of Domegaon and neighborhood have total faith in Guru Granth Sahib. Whenever river Godavari got flooded they took out the holy Granth and touch the water, which then receded without causing any damage to the village. This has been the practice for the last 165 years, ever since an old saint meditated with this volume of the holy Granth.” On checking at Ahmednagar bus stand, we came to know that it takes two hours by bus to Shrirampur from where a local bus goes to Domegaon. Going along the road marked by Neem and Keekar trees, through lush vegetation and ripening sugarcane fields, we reached Shrirampur at 11 A.M. With a view to gathering more details of the place and the route, we approached the first available residents. They took us on two scooters to Veena Saree Centre, owned by Khem Singh Batra, President, Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Domegaon. We were told that the keys of the Gurdwara at Domegaon were with the Sewadar (caretaker) Gurcharan Singh Saluja, who had gone for collection of stores and was due to return shortly. As we waited for the Sewadar, we were briefed by Prithipal Singh regarding the place: “More than 165 years ago, an old hand-written copy of Guru Granth Sahib came to be preserved in Domegaon. Sikhs in Shrirampur came to know of it only about 50 years ago through a Bijnori Sikh, Bedekar, who used to frequent these villages for business. The construction of the Gurdwara was initiated by one Mr. Ahuja, a factory manager at Ganeshpur Sugar Mills, with the efforts of the Sikh Sangat of the surrounding areas under the supervision of Baba Harnam Singh of Gurdwara Langar Sahib, Nanded. “The Sewadar stays at Shrirampur because there is no Sikh family in Domegaon but he goes to Domegaon daily and the keys of the Gurdwara remain with him. He collects the construction material and the materials for performing rituals at the Gurdwara. We were told that the Akhand Paath (continuous recitation of Guru Granth Sahib) is performed every year on Guru Nanak’s birthday i.e., on Kartik Poornima. The Sangat of Shrirampur visits Domegaon on every Pooranmashi (full moon night). “The villagers of the area take out a procession around the village with the holy man of the village carrying Guru Granth Sahib on his head on occasions like Holi and Diwali. They celebrate all festivals in the compound of the Gurdwara after prayers to Guru Granth Sahib, for which they have a deep devotion. A special congregation is also arranged in the first week of January every year. We tried to bring the holy volume to Shrirampur as we felt that there was no Sewadar. But the villagers refused to part with it stating that it was their Dev (Chief Deity), which could not be taken away from Domegaon. If their Dev is taken away, they will surely be destroyed by floods. Such was the unflinching faith of the locals in the Holy Guru Granth Sahib” Meanwhile, the Sewadar arrived. We hired an auto-rickshaw to proceed to Domegaon. En route, we halted at Shrirampur Gurdwara, a magnificent construction. There we met Trilok Singh Sethi, a respected and prosperous businessman of the area and Special (honorary) Executive Magistrate. He offered to send his car to Domegaon, which we could not refuse as he wanted the car to be blessed by Baba Birdh Sahib of Domegaon. The Sikh saint, who originally brought the holy Guru Granth Sahib and meditated on the banks of river Godavari at Domegaon, is known as Birdh Baba Sahib, meaning the ‘respectable old man’. Our 15 km journey along Nashik-Shrirampur-Aurangabad road was comfortable. At village Bhokar, we found the road turning to Birdh Baba Domegaon (Kamalpur). At Domegaon, we stopped alongside river Godavari, close to the bridge in front of the imposing building of Gurdwara Birdh Baba. Just adjoining to it stands a Krishna temple, a mosque, a Buddhist Gompa and a Hanuman temple. Domegaon is a beautiful village with pictureseque landscape and the surroundings surcharged with spiritual vibrations. A marble stone on the Gurdwara wall had the following inscription: “The construction of Gurdwara Sri Birdh Baba, Domegaon was started at the hands of a Nanded saint on 25 May 1968. About 150 years ago, a Sikh saint of Punjab, who had a hand-written copied version of Guru Granth Sahib established it in this place in a thatched hut, which has now been converted into a Gurdwara. The village is situated on the banks of Godavari, which often got flooded since the times of the Birdh Baba. Guru Granth Sahib was worshipped and taken on the head to Godavari and prayers were offered to Ganga Mai (Godavari) for receding of floods. The local people have full faith in Guru Granth Sahib and Birdh Baba and they have seen with their eyes that with the prayer, flood recedes and the village is saved from losses. This tradition continues till date. This year, when the floods came on 6 August, 1968, the village people repeated the same thing and there was no damage to the village from flood waters.” We washed our faces, hands and feet and the Sewadar brought the old volume (Beerh) of Guru Granth Sahib from its resting place to the main hall. After prayers, we were allowed to study it. Its size is more than double than that of the normal printed Beerh. It contains 1006 pages. It was apparent that it was written long back. It starts with a list of contents preceded with the dates of its writing as Mash Sudi 5, Samvat 1901 (1844 A.D.). The list of contents has three parts. The first list contains the names of all the verses (Baanis). The second is the list of all ragas. The third is the list of the first line of all the Shabads (hymns) in the Beerh. A few pages are also given for the contents. The Baanis included are: Nisan Guruji Jap(u) (p.1), Sodar – five Shabads (p.6), So Purkh – four Shabads (p.7), Sohila/Aarti – five Shabads (p.8), Raag Majh (p.64), Gauri (p.105), Aasa (p.239), Gujri, Devgandhari and other Ragas; Sloka Sahaskriti, Gatha, Funhe, Choubole, Sloka Kabir Ji ke, Sloka Farid Ji ke, Swaeeye Kalaur, Bhatton-ke-sloka, Waran-te-Wadheek Sloka, tatha-Gost-Mlaar Naal Hoi, Ratan-mala, Hakikat Raje-Sivnabh-ki, Raagmala, besides method of preparing ink and Chalittar-Jyoti-Jyot Samawne ke, being the record of merging with the Divine Light of the first nine Gurus, but it has no record of Guru Gobind Singh in the list. It may be that this Beerh was started during the time of Guru Gobind Singh. Writing is in black ink. Pages 1 to 20 are much older than the remaining pages. The sequence of Raag/Shabad/Sloka after Slokas of Guru Teg Bahadar is not as per Kartarpuri Beerh or Beerh Bhai Banno. One Sloka is attributed to Mahila 10 (Guru Gobind Singh) in this Beerh, similar to the golden lettered Beerh at Burhanpur. Some pages have come out of the binding and a few are becoming brittle. The holy hand written volume needs urgent care and scientific archival preservation. Though some amount was sent through ‘Sikh Review’ by a non-resident Sikh from the United States for preservation but it never was so utilized. After having the Darshan and a brief perusal of Guru Granth Sahib, I contacted the local people and interviewed a few of the villagers to know their views and details about the Birdh Baba and the hand-written volume. Those interviewed include Baba Sahib Thorat, B.A. B.Ed., aged 24; Uttam Dasang, aged 30 and Mahatama Swaimbhu Chhedam, aged 82, the head priest of the adjoining Sri Krishna Chakradhar Temple. I was unable to contact Sri Birendra Baba Murkute, who has been looking after Guru Granth Sahib before it was handed over to the Sikh clergy to take the Beerh ceremoniously to River Godavari in the event of flood. I was informed by the local villagers that there was no Sikh in the area nor was there any copy of Guru Granth Sahib with anybody. The Baba wrote the entire Gurbani with his inner spiritual power. It is surprising to know where from did the Birdh Baba gather the paper, ink and pen in that secluded village almost 17 decades ago. Both Baba Sahib Thorat and Uttam Dasang confirmed the age old tradition of taking Guru Granth Sahib to river Godavari and of floods receding. They stated that Guru Granth Sahib is their Dev, which they cannot part with. If they part with it, their village will surely be destroyed by the floods. They also showed me the boulder in the river, where the Birdh Baba had meditated for 12 years. Baba Sahib Thorat stated, Whatever the Baba collected for food, he gave one-third to cows, one-third to Godavari and ate the remaining one-third.” A story was narrated to me how the Baba would “speak to the river”, which in turn, would reply back and give the Baba water. Once a person quietly went to hear as to what the Baba spoke, the river remained silent, where-upon the Baba cursed the hidden person, who died within a week and his entire family perished within a month. Birdh Baba did penance for this act of his anger by continuous meditation. He never lost his temper against anyone after this event. The destructed uninhabited house of this person still remains in Domegaon. After this incident, the Baba shifted to a small wooden house, where he would meet the devotees in the mornings and evenings and gave sermons of Naam Simran. None in the village knew Gurmukhi script but the holy Granth Sahib and Birdh Baba attracted a number of followers. However, whenever the Godavari was in flood, the Birdh Baba took the Beerh to the water and touched it. The water receded thereafter. After the demise of the Birdh Baba, the holy Granth Sahib was kept in a Jhoola (swing). Once, the fury of the flood mounted and the water entered the village. The moment water reached the Jhoola, cradling the holy volume, it rapidly receded. Thereafter, whenever the Godavari got flooded, Baba Murkute took Guru Granth Sahib on his head and touched the water sending it back to the mainstream. This occurred right up to 1968, when it was decided to build the Gurdwara at the same place where the Baba used to live in the wooden house. The present Gurdwara, thus, came into being. Since then, the river has not been in spate near the village. The people said the younger generation could not describe Baba Ji as none had seen him. However, the Mahant of Shri Krishna Chakradhar Temple shed more light on this. Aged 82, the Mahant first described the importance of the ancient temple associated with Shri Krishna Chakradhar, a saint, who stayed in Domegaon for 10 months. A Pandit of Salargaon, Mahim Bhatt composed verses in honor of Saint Chakradhar, which are considered as one of the sources of Marathi language. Describing Birdh Baba, he said, “Birdh Baba had died somewhere in late nineteenth century, much before him. Nobody knows the exact date of the Baba’s demise. He had heard from a saint, who had known that the Birdh Baba was a great Udasi saint, who had made a copy of Guru Granth Sahib while he lived with a Raja. When he became an Udasi, he came to Domegaon and started meditation near this temple. He had this copy of Guru Granth Sahib with him at that time. He was given a hut close to the temple, where he later died. Even during this time, the village folks used to take out a procession of Guru Granth Sahib on Falgun Ekadashi, a tradition they still maintain.” Telling about the people, he said, “The village has Chakradhar Temple, Hanuman Temple, Ganpati Temple, a Mosque and the Gurdwara; all around the same complex within a close vicinity. The village is known as Domegaon-Kamalpur, the name ‘Kamalpur’ was given after the name of Kamal Shah, an important executive of emperor Aurangzeb. His Mazaar (grave) is close to the Mandir-Gurdwara complex. Though the population consists of Hindus, Muslims and few Buddhists, yet they have no religious or caste barriers in marriage ceremonies or social dealings. They have days marked for different religious functions, which they all celebrate together.” He pointed out to me that the people, who followed us to the temple that day, included a Hindu, a Muslim and a Buddhist. There were no restrictions in any religious place for anyone. Later I found record of a statement of Shri Vishvanath Korpe and his mother aged 100 in a local Marathi weekly, Hind Mashaal dated 16 June 1994, which carried a detailed version of the events and confirmed the statements by Baba Thorat. I left the place with genuine respect for a village community united in its veneration for the ancient hand-written volume of Guru Granth Sahib. ~ Bhagwan Singh ~ Eternal Voice http://www.sikhnet.com/news/gurdwara-sri-bridh-baba-extraordinary-tale-faith

  18. 80 year Old OAP Joginder Singh was brutally attacked to the ground with his Dastar off and spat at the Edl Admin put up a link on Facebook. instead of seeing sympathy a voice of Edl Followers put up comments like "f.. Asian pervert got what he deserved" " How dare he touch a girl" ..That seemed to drown out any sympathy with racial hatred without using the words "P..." Edl founder Tommy went off to the BFP to enhance his Political Career back in 2010 new Edl Facebook Admins posted up article on "Race and ImmigratioN" talked about the negative effect other races had on Britain. This article was from earlier BNP publications. a good deal of Edl followers were starting to come out of the closet some openly discussing they were Edl practically on street and voting for BNP ( despite Tommys assurances to the Public Edl and Bnp hated one another).Ok it might have cleared up a touch from 2010. But BNP Is no ordinary party its objective is to keep segregation and kick non whites out. Around that time Tommy came back and vowed to kick racists out. I am pained apneh are going into these groups without knowing too much about them. Edited Part 11.18am 13th Dec ( I apologise to Sangat for what was said of a deceased Sikh but those comments is what I had witnessed on facebook Edl Page as soon as The Admin put the link to the attack on. The comments were disgusting, I should have recorded them and showed the sangat. Please be aware of any group research into it yourself, spend time and study their activities, group consensus, go beyond the leadership Rhetoric to floor level to know what your getting into. In Past one man leadership may have binded that group but it dont mean hes repping all their concerns which can be racial). If we are to stand up to Grooming we have SAS in our own community.

  19. I forgot about this thread! What a difference a few months make! It looks like Tommy Robinson himself agrees that the EDL is full of nazi racist extremists that kept getting invited back into the organisation and now run the organisation… that was pretty obvious in the first place… If the Sikh Defence League does still exist somewhere I wonder how they going to stand with these now completely outed white supremacists and racists?! I have a feeling that the cynics will say Tommy has been bought or become or muslim or something or black magic even! However, he has chosen to join a moderate muslim organisation called Quilliam Foundation that look to fight Islamic extremism… I think I stated previously that there is such a thing as moderate muslims/imams in UK, which people found hard to believe. They really do exist! People like Imam Ibrahim Mogra that regularly speaks out agaisnt grooming etc. Also here is an organisation that everyone can support to fight Islamic extremism rather than shouting “who the f is allah” in a town centre. More Constructive what they do in my opinion. Just briefly reading through all the posts people made from the Quran that they claim means Islam is evil, moderate Imams would state that those quotes are not applicable to muslims in these times/countries etc they would put them in a different time context!? and they would counteract those quotes with other ones that mean the exact opposite! I mean if some of the people quoting on here actually spoke to an Imam (which I am not, nor do I rep Islam) they would maybe stop hating muslims so much... Also I have yet to find a Sufi Muslim that does not believe in Mohammad, how is that even possible?! Sufi Muslims also read the Quran!!!. Also it looks like basics of Sikhi guy Jagraj Singh I think his name is saying Guru Hargobind Ji built a Mosque – if this is such inaccurate info from an obviously learned Sikh then I wish someone would correct him and also correct the Nihangs of Tarna Dal… I’m inclined to listen to the views of Singhs/kaurs that evidently have a higher level of knowledge than me. And Tandoori the issue about non-halal meat the only meat being prohibited in Sikhi is really being pushed in this thread by you to justify anti-Muslim arguments. (thought this was against forum rules?!). I personally look to the rehit of Damdami Taksal (hate mentioning Jathay) but I am against eating all forms of meat in Sikhi. But your gyan of Sikhi might be more than the majority of the rehit followed and handed down to Sikhs. I’m unwilling to accept non Halal Meat as acceptable. In my opinion all forms of animal slaughter is barbaric for you Halal seems to be only barbaric. Also Proactive Ji I refer to a book called “Hari Singh Nalwa Champion of the Khalsa” that states Azaan was only banned for a short time in some areas to stop extremists preachers otherwise as stated previously the Sikh Raaj was tolerant and allowed the Azaan. I request you to provide one reputable source from a non Muslim that the Azaan had a blanket ban!? Another poster mentioned Sikh Raaj was renowed for being tolerant. I would like apologise for referring to Guru Hargobind Ji with Singh at the end, it was done in error as I typed in haste. Im sorry if anyone else found that offensive or for anything else I have typed in error or caused offence. I dont proof read before posting and am error prone!

  20. Back in the 80s when Singhs took up arms to fight for freedom, Indian media, government and all other tout agencies had a bright opportunity to tell mislead the world about Sikhs and brand them as violent separatists, lawless community, cruel terrorists, religious extremists and what not. Today we have candle light marches, protests, bandhs, hunger strikes to get justice. Do you know why? All the Sikhs who are taking these steps know very well that there will be no outcome, yet they go ahead and do it. Do you know why? So that tomorrow when the Singhs pick up arms once again to get justice, then no so-called human rights activist or self-proclaimed journalist will dare to raise the question "Why wasn't a peaceful settlement attempted?" All this oppression which the Sikh community is facing now inspite of non-violent protests and struggles will be evidence that we did give peace every possible chance, we went to the limit of abiding by peace, and yet achieved nothing but the same brutality. And that day, the Khalsa Panth will begin a new wave of struggle which will justify the words of Dasmesh Pita ji: ਚੁ ਕਾਰ ਅਜ਼ ਹਮਹ ਹੀਲਤੇ ਦਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਸ਼ਤ ॥ ਹਲਾਲ ਅਸਤ ਬੁਰਦਨ ਬ ਸ਼ਮਸ਼ੀਰ ਦਸਤ ॥ When all peaceful ways to resolve a conflict have failed, it is then justified to unsheath the sword.

  23. Recently there have been some calls for Giani Gurbachan Singh to resign over a statement which he gave to the press on December 7. From this recent press release from the secretariat of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib it becomes clear that his previous statement was twisted by the press, especially by 'Rozana Spokesman' (which claimed that Jathedar Sahib has taken a U-turn from his support to Bhai Gurbaksh Singh). The anti Panthic stand of Rozana Spokesman is again exposed. It has always been creating mischief in the Panth by publishing twisted news reports that serve its own purpose, with a sole aim of denigrating the status and authority of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. The latest press note from Akal Takhat Sahib clarifies these misconceptions about its stand on Bhai Gurbaksh Singh's struggle. Maybe someone can take the seva of translating this into English for a wider reach. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=554917884594492&set=a.554918424594438.1073741833.473270179425930&type=1&theater www.akaltakhatsahib.com/pressnote.jpg www.akaltakhatsahib.com/latestnews.php

  25. As much as it pains me to see the nutty professor and his mob getting stage time and trying to use the issue to push their own agenda. I would like to know where are the sant samaj hiding and where is dhumma babaji. This is the time to stand up and take sides. Sant samaj have shown where their loyalties lie. Dadu sahib wale and Ajanala Ji are the only two who have stood by Bhai Sahib Gurbaksh Singh. This is not the time for certain panthic leaders to use their PR machine to show solidarity. Walk the walk don't talk about Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Ji from your divans this is just paying lip service. Shashi Kant has made it clear what Badal's role was in 1984. Yet our panthic leaders still touch his feet and hide away while this is going on.

  26. There was once bairaagi sadhu who was premi of pooran bhramgyani sant jvala singh ji harkhowale. One day he went into soo much bairaag to merge with vahiguroo ji that he decided to stay infront of sant jvala singh ji harkhowale bhagti bhora sahib. He said he will keep staying and sing glory of vahiguroo ji until sant jvala singh ji harkhowale merges him with itself- supreme cosmic consciousness Vahiguroo. He call out vahiguroo ji name in most emotional profound manner than even hard core criminals murders heart would melt by hearing his voice. He would literally stay in dog posture and call out vahiguroo ji name literally as dog is crying at night in pain. Hum kokar tere darbar || This emotional episode went out for couple of months. Lot of locals would cry hearing his story. One of close sevaks of sant jvala singh ji harkhowale talked to sant ji regarding this tyaagi bairaagi sadhu who just need small light to enlighten his hirda. Sevak asked sant ji- if he heard him. Even though sant jvala singh harkhowale knew everything sponteously- baba ji said no as test, sevak asked- please baba ji do kirpa on him we cannot stand any more his pain. Sant maharaj baba jvala singh ji replied, you know what he is asking for? He is not asking for worldly things, he is asking for bhramgyan di datt. This is not a joke. Then sant maharaj ji went to other village for parchar, but even during sant jvala singh ji harkhowale absence- this bairaagi sadhu would not miss one day always call out vahiguroo ji name in dog posture as kokar, sing vahiguroo ji in pain as dog crying out in pain- infront of sant jvala singh ji harkhowale bhora sahib. When sant jvala singh harkhowale returned, finally he was called in by sant ji and sant ji told him he passed his test and hugged him, with his amrit bhramgyan dristhi he was given bhramgyan. After bhramgyan, bairaagi sadhu stayed at sant ji bhora sahib would go with sant jvala singh harkhowale in nirvakalp sun samadhi state (dvai ek roop avastha) for weeks and months along always with sehaj jevan mukht avastha. Dhan Guru pyarea, bhramgyani tatvedai tarkhali mahapursh- sant jvala singh ji maharaj harkhowal.

  27. heres a brilliant comment posted by a muslim lady on the video posted by the dawahdude Fatima P. 7 minutes ago Dawah Man, you talk in neo-orthodox sound bytes and bits using trite Zakir Naik/Ahmed Deedat type rhetoric trying appeal to some sort of "logic." Listening to your words is like eating chalk. If you want to preach the Beauty and Truth in Islam you need the heart of a Sufi and the mind of a philosopher. This Sikh gentleman has such a heart and mind. You can hear the touch of God on him more than on you. It should feel as if cool water is rushing over the heart when you talk about the Quran...abandon these trite "proofs" and "examples." A lot of our modern rhetoric lacks the insight of those who seek tasawwuf, 'irfaan, and philosophic thinking. These things will put beauty in your heart and words. And if you had that in your heart you would feel no need to debate Sikhs or anyone else because you would know that we are all fingers on the same hand or branches on the same tree seeking God. You would work on perfecting your own soul. You would study the GGS of the Sikhs to improve your the Islam in your heart rather than to debate Sikhs and prove them "wrong."

  31. The huge response in just one week shown by Gurdwaras and organisations in supporting the event being planned for 8 June, the reaction to the online poster and the programme shown on Sangat TV at 9.30pm last night are all very good signs compared to those who have been planning for 6 months a rival event on 1 June, which has received limited support and far less advanced in terms of what is planned for Hyde Park (with NO REMEMBRANCE MARCH AND FREEDOM RALLY IN TRAFALGAR SQUARE).

  32. Sensible move, he realized he is around with bunch of nazi fascist which will hurt his overall aim to stop islamic fascism peacefully as you cannot stop one fascism just to replace with another. It's good he is working with moderate Muslim organization to help stop islamic fascism, de-toxicfy youths that way muslim as whole does not feel alienated. Biggest victims of sunni islamic fascism/extremism is dozen of sects within islam. So its in the best interest of other small moderate opresssed sects of islam to get together with other sources - fight against extremism.

  33. It is really good you are doing this Paath. This paath is easy to recite plus once you have it Kanth it can relax the mind so you can meditate on this Bani. It's language is also not that difficult to understand for someone who understands Punjabi or Hindi. It is a blessing if you can make this Bani into a permanent part of your Nitnem and do it everyday. In the start it is normal for many people to do this in parts and finish it through out the day. But try to increase your speed of doing this Bani so you can finish it all in one sitting. On your day off, try doing it twice to increase your speed. A good technique that I used was doing this Bani by reciting one Pauri 50 times and then moving on to the next Pauri, finishing one Ashtpadi a day. Do this for 24 days and you will have the entire Bani Kanth(memorized) or almost Kanth.
