Riots Throughout Uk

Recommended Posts

The way people are, in a few weeks everything will have died down and people will have forgotten. The media will have a new plaything to obsess over and discuss on their 24 hour news channels. That's how these things work.

Bro, I don't see this being forgotten. This has been the worst civil unrest for four decades! The riots of the past in the capital e.g. Notting Hill have been confined to certain areas. In this case we have seen the entire capital hit and cities up and down the country. Also the reputation of the Afro-Caribbean and black community has just sunk to rock bottom. The implications for the police are huge as well, as the government was considering cuts, those won't happen now.

I hope so, brother. I hope the tide has turned and change does come about after this horrible event. But I'm not holding my breath.

Sikhs protect local Gurdwaras and surrounding areas

East London, UK

10 August 2011

Over 400 Sikhs deployed their sewa around the 7 local Gurdwaras in the East London/Ilford area last night.

There were reported to be a small number of isolated disturbances in the Ilford/East London area compared to the previous night , it is strongly believed the visible presence if Sikhs on the streets deterred the local gangs from congregating in Ilford.

Two mob group had started to congregate earlier in the day in the town centres of Ilford and Barkingside, however they were dispersed by the Police presence and did not re-group as the night went on. A Muslim elder attending a local Mosque for prayers commented on how the "large Sikh presence gave him the confidence that the streets were safe for the night".

The residents and shopkeepers of Ilford, Barking and East Ham experienced property damage, lootings and muggings on the Monday night when gangs of up to 200 youths rampaged through town centres in Barking and Ilford as well as Ilford Lane, High Road, Green Street and High Street North. Missiles were also thrown at Gurdwara Singh Sabha Barking earlier on in the day which prompted large numbers of Sikhs to gather around all the Gurdwaras in the area.

A large presence of Sikhs will be carrying on the sewa in the local Gurdwaras tonight.

A number of articles in today’s mainstream media regarding Sikhs defending their towns:

If the situation continues we need to start thinking about employing people full time protecting the communities. People cant be out on streets everynight if we are to sustain this level of defence they need to be compensated for their time, petrol for cars, etc.

A word of warning: Protect each other, our houses and businesses and our places of worship. Protect other peoples premises and holy places if you deem it necessary. But let's not get over-excited and fight other groups battles for them if issues escalate. There's a fine line that we should not cross. If history has taught us anything, its that Sikhs have a habit of getting screwed over even when undertaking honourable and selfless duties on behalf of others.

It is shocking to see the scenes of violence and looting up and down the country, but equally shocking is the amount of racist language and idiocy displayed by some people in this thread (Anakin, I'm looking at you). What right does anyone have to use phrases like "Jungle Bunny" to describe members of the black community? There are people of all colours that are out there rioting and looting, this is not just confined to one particular ethnic/racial group. Making those kinds of statements and using that sort of language is uncalled for. There are only good people and bad people in this world, and you can get them in all shapes and colours. Remember that.

Sikhs guard Seven Kings and Ilford Gurdwaras overnight

Edwina Ellington, Reporter Wednesday, August 10, 2011

Hundreds of Sikhs stood outside Ilford and Seven Kings temples this week in defiance of the ongoing civil unrest.

The group formed a solid presence in Ilford and Seven Kings High Road where they patrolled into the early hours of the morning, determined to protect the Gurdwara Karamsar and the Singh Sabha London East from opportunistic violence.

The orders had not come from any Sikh council, but elders within the community had decided it was necessary to keep a vigil outside the temple on what marked the second and third nights of civil unrest in London and some suburbs.
Members of the Sikh community in Redbridge are planning to stand guard at temples again tonight.

Spokesman for the British Sikh Council, and Chairman of the Singh Sabha in Seven Kings, Upkar Singh Rai, said the community was doing all it could to help police.

"We have had a meeting with the police and asked how can we help, without aggravating the situation. We told them we will look after our temples and protect ourselves," he added.

"Police stopped and waved, and some even came in to have tea during the course of the night," said Mr Singh Rai.

"I've had two hours sleep last night as we finished at 4.30am and I'm exhausted, but we are keeping ourselves going and planning a strategy for tonight," he added.

Chairwoman of the Sikh Women's Alliance, and Seven Kings ward councillor Balvinder Saund, said the solidarity was a testament to the community minded faith.

"I think there is a vigilante streak in many Sikh people, they have been used to looking after themselves for centuries.

"It's that support in them that comes out when there's any danger," she added.

No offence to the councillor, but that's an incredibly irresponsible thing to say. Any member of the SIkh community who speaks to the press, particularly if they are in a position of some authority, should be making it clear that Sikhs are peacefully protecting their religious buildings - we are certainly not engaging in vigilantism.

This is going to be especially important over the next few days when there is more press interest in us. The press, seeking any kind of sensational news to report, whether it is true or not, will be doing their best to make it look like we were seeking vigilante justice in the absence of adequate police presence because that's the kind of thing sells newspapers.

K.

This is great stuff - Sikh community seen all over the press of their unity - excellent.

Now for the icing on the cake would be if we also can be seen helping out in the clear up operation.

How great it would've also been if some sikhs were seen with the guys with the brooms helping out too.

Did anyone see the footage on Channel 4 news this evening. It showed some black guy on the pavement having had the shyte kicked out of him by Singhs outside the Soho Rd Gurdwara. Apparently he had driven past and sworn at the Singhs protecting the Gurdwara.

    • Maybe worth letting some of them join and see what they post as could be people interested in Sikhi from Hindu backgrounds.
    • well so far China has built an outpost inside LOC and the silk road motorway project is moving forward when this completes then it will be easy for China to attack deep into India, pakistan, iran, turkey  and into Europe . Modi will goad then surrender territory to China and then call for boycott of china goods whilst giving multi-million contracts to China's CCP party . Osho was right India is a nation of cowards and two faced people. This is the reward for attacking Harmandir Sahib, killing sant lok and making Gursikhs miserable - destruction by Akal Purakh.
    • This was posted 10 years ago but It seems to be a possibility in the the near future, more convincing now than it was 10 years ago. Is this included in Dasam Bani as well? The Hindu is full of hankhar today, blinded by it. Hankar is the beginning of the end.  Also, insulting Gurus, holy men and prophets has become a norm for Hindus, especially extremist Hindus. The amount of nindiya you see Hindus doing of holy men is alarming. The things they say about the Muslim prophet, Jesus, Mary, and our Gurus is shocking. Its twisted, perverted and sick. Even by accidently reading it you feel like you have committed 100 sins. Far too much paap is building up in that country.   I think history is soon gnna repeat itself in India, they've had a couple of decades of "freedom"
    • addiction is the symptom of extreme loneliness and disconnect... self-hatred rears its head and the person annihilates themselves through the weapon of choice , they are starved of connection, understanding and love . Your cousins really had the dregs as mothers I would have kicked out the Mums and kept the daughters because at least they had a chance of becoming worthwhile humans.
    • well of course we did not need to waste money on this study as this common knowledge that's why hospital bedding, clothing is always collected in biohazard marked bags and run through boil/high temperature washes . the staff that do have to launder their uniforms are given clear instructions on what should be done . Even the ordinary folks were instructed on how to launder washable masks to kill off the viruses /bacteria . In the old days before dousing everything with anti-bac sprays people used to just use hot water and soap , bleach for the extremely dirty/risky things  it is a simple problem with a simple solution ....boy this is making my head hurt all this angst and panic.
