  1. Lessons learned from Saka Chamkaur Sahib These are just my own thoughts I am expressing. Please correct whatever you find incorrect and forgive me. Bhai Roop Chand submitted his garhi at the feet of Guru Sahib. Later on he was tortured till martyrdom. A true Sikh doesn't think before sacrificing all his/her material possessions along with his life when it comes to upholding the dignity of Guru Sahib and His Khalsa Panth. Historians say that Guru Sahib Himself looked after the Singhs as they were asleep the night before the final battle. He tied their kesh, tied their turbans, tended to their wounds, and according to some historians its said that He even kissed their wounded feet. Sikhi is the only path where the Eternal Lord sees Himself as the attendant of His devotees. Sahibzada Baba Jujhar Singh ji himself came forward and requested to be allowed to go into the heat of battle. It is said that Guru Sahib was very much pleased and said that if I had to tell you to go fight, there would have been some minor weakness left in My Panth. But since you've yourself come forward and asked for it, you shall become a shining example. This is the quality of a Sikh warrior. He doesn't wait for any orders or requests when it comes to upholding the dignity of Guru Sahib and His Khalsa Panth. The 40 Singhs who we are are so proud of came from totally different backgrounds. They came from different so-called castes, and also from different parts of India. Yet during this battle they fought shoulder to shoulder, they fought as one unit, and who knows, perhaps many of them were martyred trying to save one another so that the other Singh would live on to fight another day as well. I very strongly feel that Saka Chamkaur Sahib should be a thunderbolt lesson for all of us to completely disown any differences that exist among us, be it based on Jathebandis, or so-called caste, or any sort of regional differences, whatever it may be. GurSikhs totally abhor all useless man-made differences and go to the extent of fighting united till their last breath and last drop of blood when it comes to upholding the dignity of Guru Sahib and His Khalsa Panth. There are many more endless lessons, these are just a few which I managed to think of and compile. Mehtab Singh Dec. 20, 2013

As part of his ardas he has also announced the end of his hunger strike. Bhai Gurmeet Singh's mother can be seen in the picture with Gurbaksh Singh while he takes his first sips of juice after 44 days.

  5. This diseased worm has no words to describe the eternally supreme benevolence of Guru Sahib jee. But still couldn't stop myself from expressing my thoughts. (a.) Pandit Lal Chand Peshauria (from village Panjokhara near Ambala) did not understand the supremacy of Guru Sahib, and was irritated as to howcome a "little kid" can be called Sahib Sri Guru Harkishan Jee Maharaj. He tried in vain to test Guru Sahib, and Guru Sahib did kirpa on Chhajju who was able to do the meaning of Bhagvad Gita. Lal Chand fell on Guru Sahib's feet and became a Sikh. In 1699 he took Amrit and became Lal Singh, and a few years later in 1704 he was among those Singhs who were fighting 1 million enemy troops at Chamkaur Sahib. When Sahibzada Baba Ajeet Singh jee went out into the heat of battle, Bhai Lal Singh was among that jatha of 5 Singhs who went with Baba jee and attained Shaheedi. (b.) Syed Baig was the brother of Bibi Naseera who was Pir Budhu Shah jee's wife. He was sent by the Mughals to assasinate Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee Maharaj. Bibi Naseera pleaded with him not to, but he didn't pay any attention. On his way to the battle, he kept thinking to himself "If this Guru is really something, then He will know what I have in mind and will show me His greatness". The scene of battle was set. Singhs and Mughals were looking eye-to-eye ready to strike. In the midst of this, Dasmesh Pita jee went all by Himself right in the middle of both armies and called out to Syed Baig, and said "Syed Baig, the battle will go on, but first you come and tell me what do you have in mind". Syed Baig mind was blown away. He got off his horse and submitted his sword at Guru Sahib's feet. It is said that he became a Sikh and was a Shaheed fighting alongside with the Singhs. ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰਾਧ ਮਹਾ ਅਕ੍ਰਿਤਘਨ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਹੀਐ ॥ Again and again, God puts up with the millions of sins of the supremely ungrateful ones. (c.) Pandit Kirpa Ram Dutt (from Mattan, Kashmir) came with a legion of destitute Kashmiri Pandits at the feet of Sahib Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Jee Maharaj seeking shelter from the attrocities of Iftikhar Khan. After Guru Shaib jee's Shaheedi, he became a Sikh and became Bhai Kirpa Singh, another one of the blessed Shaheeds of Chamkaur Sahib along with his brother Bhai Sanmukh Singh (formerly Sanmukh Das). (d.) Pir Budhu Shah ji, a very highly revered Sayyad Sufi saint met Dasmesh Pita ji when Guru Sahib was very young and Pir jee was pretty aged. They both had spiritual discussions after which Pir jee fell at Guru Sahib's feet. The first 2 instances are of those who came before Guru Sahib with arrogance and ill intentions. The other 2 came to His feet seeking in all humility. But see the blessed nature of SatGuru Patshah jee, He lovingly accepted every single one of them inspite of whatever intentions they had, and not just that, He showered them with so much love that they happily sacrificed their lives. What must they have felt seeing Him right before themselves? What must they have thought when they saw His eyes full of love and only love, inspite of the fact that they had so much negativity in their minds for Guru Sahib? ਕਉੜਾ ਬੋਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨੈ ਅਉਗਣੁ ਕੋ ਨ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ॥ He does not know any bitter words; the Perfect Lord God does not even consider my faults and demerits. It is the Lord's natural way to purify sinners; He does not overlook even an iota of service. Only and only SatGuru Patshah jee can do bakshish of such ilaahi prem! Please correct and forgive any mistakes. Mehtab Singh December 27, 2013

  6. WSBGSK The paperwork for Varyam Singh and Gurdeep Singh Khaira is in the process and might take a few more days. The Four other Singhs are now physically out of the Jail on Parole. We don't think they will be put back in jails now. Parole is a step towards permanent release which should be accomplished in the next 20 or so days. I think a very good achievement for Punjab and the Sikhs as well as India. May every Political Prisoner be released soon. I think this is achievable if the public supports the movement of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh. He has now finished the hunger strike at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and hopefully will recover back the strength in his body. Congratulations to Everyone. A humanitarian Effort has achieved Success. May Punjab Heal from the horrible trauma that it has been subjected to. We hope that the Indian Media projects this issue in the proper context and not spit venom against the Sikhs on this issue. Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Lakha (in Blue Dastar) and Bhai Shamsher Singh Shera (In white Dastar) doing Ardas at feet of Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Gurudwara Amb Sahib, Ajitgarh. Also seen Sister of Bhai Lakha, Bibi Sukhwinder Kaur Narangwal and Brother-in-law Bhai Jang Singh and other Sangat.

  11. Bhai Amrik Singh ajnala and Giani Ram Singh made dozen trips to gurdwara amb sahib. Gianni ram Singh and sangat with him took night watch sewa recently. Both belong to damdami taksal jathabandi. However, as per government's official jatehdar of taksal is bhai dhumma who surprisingly is still not seen anywhere except last time sangat seen him in Mumbai more than a month ago. His phone(s) are switched off and nobody knows where bhai dhumma is despite he gave a promise to bhai gurbax of support before the start hunger strike at amb sahib. --- Absence of taksal jatehdar during such crucial time is raising doubts. What reason there is of not visiting amb sahib, even badal daliyay Makkar and others visited amb sahib. Anyone know where baba dhumma is? I thought that he is genuine leader after memorial issue but now I have doubts.

  12. I am not writing this to hurt anyone's feelings or offend anyone religious sentiments, but only to emphasize the fact that the history of a community reflects its character, personality, thought process and ideals. The philosophy they abide by reflects in whatever acts they do. In Ramayan, Ram Chander needed Sugreev's help in finding Sita. Sugreev however was already grieving as his kingdom and also consort was taken away by his brother Bali. Ram Chander asked Bali to challenge Sugreev in a wrestling combat and that he would shoot Bali with his arrow while they fought. Eventually, Ram Chander killed Bali while he himself hiding. This is where the Indians learnt the art of fake encounters. Further on, Ram killed Ravan after being assisted by Vibheeshan, who was Ravan's own brother. Those who know about the background of Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale will know that his ancestry was Brar Jatt. Now this has absolutely no significance or place in Gurmat, but lets consider this just for a minute to understand the mentality of our foes. We also know the ethnicity of Gen. K.S. Brar. The Indians played the same game. Just like Ram had Vibheeshan to assist him against Ravan, Indira had Gen. Brar to assist her because she and her lot saw Sant Jee as Ravan. Vibheeshan is condemned the same way by Hindus as Gen. Brar is by the Sikh qaum. In Mahabharat, Dronacharya was killed by Draupadi's brother Drushtadyumman after he heard about the false news of his son Ashwathama's death. Drona was so emotionally shattered that he gave up his weapons and sat in meditation right in the battlefield. Thats when Drushtadyumman beheaded him. Such similar lies were spread in the 80s and 90s to weaken the Jujhaaroo leher and damage the kind of support Singhs were getting from the common masses of Punjab, including Hindus. Black cats in the guise of Singhs were used to terrorize, rape, loot and kill Hindus so as to break that trust which many of the common and often poor Hindus of rural Punjab had in the Singhs. Continuing with Mahabharat, Karan was killed by Arjun as he was fixing the wheel of his chariot. Who provoked Arjun? Krishan did! It was clearly against the rules of war as decided to kill/attack anyone unarmed, but he did it anyways. In India, innocent Sikhs were massacred, unarmed men, women, children and even old people were not spared. Krishna had vowed not to pick up arms in the Mahabharat war, but at one point he did pluck out the wheel from Arjun's chariot and was ready to strike Bheesham. Breaking vows is something that has been followed traditionally by the hill Rajas at the time of Dasmesh Pita ji and more recently by Pandit Nehru. Duryodhan was killed treacherously by Bheem. In gada yudh, you are not supposed to hit the opponent above his thighs, which is what Bheem did. Duryodhan had acquired supernatural powers as per which his entire body had become as hard as steel, except the part above his thighs, which again was Krishan's conspiracy, so that Duryodhan doesn't acquire a 100% steel body. Another example of treachery. Sikhs were hurt in the most brutal way by attacking Sri Darbar Sahib, so that the maximum wound could be afflicted on the entire community and psyche. There are several other examples that are not coming to mind right now. The entire war(s) fought in Ramayan and Mahabharat, except for a handful of few heroic and brave combats, was a total treachery. The "good" side heavily cheated, and the "bad" side was invincible. It is justified to this day that it was fair, because it is fair to "cheat" in order to take down your "bad" opponent. This exact formula was used against Sikhs. Khalistan was/is a "bad" idea, and every method was/is to be put into action to "take down" this "bad" idea. Let me also add, that not all Hindus feel comfortable with the above mentioned events. The ones who are educated, moderate, rational and sane do question them repeatedly. I personally have come across several educated and rational Hindus (both ladies and gentlemen) who go to the extent of claiming Ramayan and Mahabharat to be as unreal stories. Perhaps they find it shameful to accept the above mentioned facts. Do you want to convince a Hindu about Khalistan? Use examples from their own history and explain. If the Jujharoo Singhs were terrorists, then how do they explain Hanuman setting fire to Lanka where innocent civilians also lived? Why do they then so devoutly worship someone who committed an act of terrorism? If avenging the honor of Draupadi was justified by carrying out the "dharam yudh" of Mahabharat where millions perished, then howcome the Jujharoo leher is called terrorism which started after thousands of Sikh girls were brutally gang-raped. Sorry, there cannot be 2 rules that are twisted and used as per the convenience of those in power or those in majority. They need to learn to call a spade a spade. However, the most discouraging and heart-breaking thing which I've come across is that the amount of treachery Indians have learnt from their history is far more, much more than the divine virtues of our Guru Sahibaan, Gurmukh Pyaare Sant Sipahi and Shaheed Singhs we (except a handful of GurSikhs) have managed to imbibe within our soul, character and personality. May Guru Sahib do kirpa and we are blessed to imbibe those divine Gurmat virtues in ourselves. May Guru Sahib also do bakshish on our vichaare non-Sikh brothers and sisters so that they wake up and try to live their life based on the lives of those good-hearted non-Sikh shardhalus of our Guru Sahibaan and other azeez non-Sikh friends of GurSikhs and Shaheeds. Eventually, those who are destined will definitely come into the fold of the Khalsa. Those who are not, may they continue to live noble lives but opposite from the lives of those who lived only to harm Sikhs. Let me also say that I haven't written this to please one set of people and enrage another, NO! I've written what I've had in mind for many years but just felt the time has come to say it out. We need to fully and completely understand where our foes are coming from and what mentality they have. Those non-Sikhs who have respect for Guru Sahibaan, the distinctness of Sikhi and uniqueness of Khalsa Panth, they are always worth embracing. Those who only wish harm, they are the ones with whom we will never make any compromise. Sincere apologies if this hurts anyone, but its a common trend we've been watching and it just had to be exposed. ਮਹਿਤਾਬ ਸਿੰਘ Dec. 24, 2013

All Sikh religious and political groups must now work towards the goals of helping their fellow Sikhs for human rights and freedom regardless of what their masters may say.

EDIT : I found a link on sikh24 website with a letter from the jathedar of Buddha dal who is currently imprisoned which is in support of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh and his morcha. 24. Some attend the annual event as they simply want to REMEMBER and pay their respects to the Shaheeds. We PROTEST during the MARCH as it is not only about REMEMBRANCE as we have not had JUSTICE. The way we hope to get the message across this year will be more creative, professional etc. If you have not had JUSTICE then what we need to get across to non-Sikhs and the mainstream media on the 30th anniversary is we want FREEDOM (this will be the main theme). FREEDOM can and will have many meanings: FREEDOM for Sikh political prisoners FREEDOM from the death penalty/hanging FREEDOM of religion - Article 25 FREEDOM for greater rights - Punjab's water etc. AND of course FREEDOM from India

  26. Think of it like this. Say this life is a game. The ultimate aim is to join with God. Maya (this world) separates us from God. It creates a wall of illusion, much like a bubble in the ocean. That bubble is in the ocean, it is part of it, yet it acts like it is separate because of the bubble. This is just like us. Our hamai (hai=I, mai=me), our ego, sense of "self", gets in the way and stops us from realising waheguru. This whole thought of "my freewill", comes from this sense of separation. Bani says "jo jo desai so so rogi" this means everyone I see is diseased. This disease is haumai. There is no separation from waheguru. Waheguru is everything, Waheguru is you, that light within everything is Waheguru. Waheguru is us. It is not "your" freewill. Everything is maharaj, waheguru makes everything happen. "aad sach, jugaad sach, hai bhi sach". Waheguru is true always. He was true, he is true and he will be true. Waheguru hasn't written for you. He wasn't sitting somewhere writing out plots for everyone's life drama. We are creatures subject to time. God is "akaal". Timeless. God's "time", his watch would say now. God is now. Going back to the vurri kalam. God is writing out now. We have freewill in the sense that right now, I am writing this answer out. We have to use this to focus our actions towards God. Start naam simran, doing good actions. With spiritual growth, you will realise it was never "you" in the first place. Lose the haumai and what is left? Waheguru is all that is left. Waheguru was doing everything anyway. ਤੋਹੀ ਮੋਹੀ ਮੋਹੀ ਤੋਹੀ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਕੈਸਾ ॥ You are me, and I am You-what is the difference between us? ਕਨਕ ਕਟਿਕ ਜਲ ਤਰੰਗ ਜੈਸਾ ॥੧॥ We are like gold and the bracelet, or water and the waves. ||1|| The emotional attachment is don't make that your focus. Don't make your family the only thing that matters in life. Remember Waheguru, which is the ultimate aim. Grisht jeevan is encouraged in Sikhi, to have a family. The Gurus didn't say "go into the forests", no they had families too. The main focus is don't make your life just about your family, remember Waheguru too.

  27. The reason? Nobody (outsiders) supports us. Nobody knows about our history; our own ppl doesn't know. Libya; France took keen interest and thrust NATO into it. Syria; turkey supporting anti-Syrian government movement. These fighters or activist are maybe small in numbers but they got support from known and unknown outsiders because of their own self interests. We are being neglected by all despite of our high input and great help to outsiders whether it's mutiny of 1857, boer war, ww1,2 and so on. We are on our own!

  28. Should we be proud to be Indian? I have noticed that most Sikhs are anti Indian and rarely label themselves as Indian. They care more about being Punjabi which their is nothing wrong with. But why should we not be proud to be Indian?? This is where we come from after all. I've noticed how other nationalities are always going on about how proud they are of their countries. Ie Spanish, Greek and also other Latin countries like Brazil, Mexico. But when we as Indians have so much to be proud of as a country ie India is hopefully on its way to becoming a superpower. And countless other achievements. sending rocket into space.India being a one of the most visited places on earth due to its great food, culture and people and landmarks. However, when someone asks us, particularly a white person we usually describe ourselves as being Punjabi or British instead and shy away from being Indian like its some kind of embarrassment. I think this is due to the racism suffered in the past and the stereo types the western media portrays Indians as being ie snake charmers, being poor and dirty ie living on the streets. That may exists but there is a great amount of wealthy people in India.Poverty exist everywhere. If I where a sports person for instance I would love to describe myself as Indian and take great pride in my nationality. We have just as right to say are Indian as a Hindu from India. we are collection of people from many different religions and cultures and we should be proud to say loud to other people that we love India and we love being Indian. I'm not saying we should not be proud to be Punjabi. We can be proud of being both. As far as im concerned India is the best country on earth! No other country can compare.

  30. Sure it's short, bhindranwale would sign his name has Giani Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale not sant. I personally don't believe in sants as people describe them to be (hence i'm not a sant-samajhi). Not everyone who hates Bhindranwale calls him as such, calling someone by their surname is not a symbol of hate, using derogatory language would be a sign of that. The Indian media dislike speaking about him but it still pops up with them. Millions of rams can not compare to any Sikh; everyone is unique in their own way. As he said himself we are Sikhs of guru gobind singh.

  31. I don't know where even to start with the op. How can Sikhs be proud of being "Indian" when India and its constitution doesn't even fully recognise Sikhism as a separate religion! If you want to be proud of India you give up your identity of being a Sikh... so what are you!?... a proud Indian or a Sikh?! I know what I'd rather be... In addition, the continuous betrayal and subjugation such as the fact we had to literally spill blood to get Punjabi recognised as a state language and we want Punjabi's in turn to be thankful to India? The Slaughter of generations of Sikh youth with no support from the Indian State and its Judiciary. Things like specifically banning Sikhs from attending the 1982 Asian Games and imprisoning them should they be on a train to Delhi... imagine if the British Govt banned Sikhs from attending London during the Olympics, would we be thankful to Britain!? The Sikh Genocide in 84!? The murder/rape/torture of thousands of people in Punjab in the 80/90's... I mean the list is literally endless... I could go on and on and on... This is over and beyond 1984 there have been a lot more things India has done and been responsible for that makes me cringe should any associates me with India. I don't hate India or the Indian people... but I feel betrayed and would never want to be associated with such a nation and its discriminatory polices against my religion and people from my ethnic/linguistic background. Also I would like to point out that it is a common misconception that India is/was one united mass... before the British came the area was divided into nations and Kingdoms on linguistic, cultural and religious basis. You don't see all the Southern African nations uniting into one nation just because they were ruled by the British! For some reason people find it acceptable to be ruled by a government that doesn't speak your language, different culture, religion, food, norms and values as acceptable?! The Indian Government doesn't represent Punjabi's and certainly not Sikhs...
