  1. I used to have this issue before and even posted about it in here, but have now realised. When you read rehat maryada really carefully you see that the actual BAJJAR kurehit is to use tobacco. That doesn't mean we can drink sharaab though. The rehat maryada says not to have any NASHA including sharaab. However alcohol outright not being included as a bajjar kurehit is a very sensical thing and shows Maharaj's perfection. The reason for this is that if alcohol was placed as 'bajjar' kurehit life would be pretty much unliveable. Why? Because chemical alcohol i.e. ethanol is present in so much - bread, fruit, medicine etc. When the manufacturers say alcohol they mean that yes it's technically ethanol so it's alcohol in a chemical sense but it's not really the same as sharaab in terms of use in this instance. I mean the buiscuits and cakes we eat and soft drinks like coca cola, when they have 'natural flavouring' in the ingredients, usually this also contains alcohol (ethanol), but it's not being used as sharaab it is being used as a chemical solvent to hold the flavour. This is why such products contain alcohol (ethanol) yet even by the government they are classed as non alcoholic. The intent is not intoxication and neither does it cause intoxication.

  5. Dear Guest guest, You got the definition of Sehajdhari wrong. From various sources: Sehajdhari Sikhs (literally "slow adopter") is a person who has chosen the path of Sikhism, but has not yet become an Amritdhari. A sehajdhari believes in all the tenets of Sikhism and the teachings of the Sikh Gurus but may or may not adorn the five symbols of the Sikh faith. This is not to be confused with the term Mona Sikhs. “A person cannot claim to be a Sehajdhari Sikh by trimming/cutting his/her hair, beard or eyebrows in any manner.” – SGPC Expert Panel Report Sikh Rahit Maryada makes no mention of the term Sehajdhari Sikh. Section 4. (Chapter X). (Article XVI)(i) of the Sikh Rahit Maryada, which is applicable to all Sikhs (including Sahajdharis) makes it mandatory to keep the Kesh of his children intact. Living in consonance with Guru’s Tenets……..A Sikh should, in no way, harbour any antipathy to the hair of the head with which his child is born. He should add the suffix “Singh” to the name of his son. A Sikh should keep the hair of his sons and daughters intact.(p.24) For More detailed answer: Read here. Note: Due to sensitivity nature of this topic, we will not open this thread for public discussion.

  10. Here is full Sarbloh Granth Full Sarbloh Granth Thank you @shastarSingh for giving this to me. It is a very good Granth wrriten by Guru Gobind Singh Ji just remember after reading from it we should do Anand Sahib. Here is some info on Sarbloh Granth From Manglacharan.com First Chapter – ਪਹਿਲਾ ਅਧਯਾਯThe first chapter contains the praise of Māhā Māyā, and Māhā Kāl. After losing to the demons, the Devtian (Gods and Goddesses) came under the protection of the Devi (Chandi). The Devi defeated the demon army and its leader Bhīmnād.Second Chapter – ਦੂਜਾ ਅਧਯਾਯBhīmnād’s wife prepares to become a Satī while his brother, Bīrjnād, prepares to wage war against all the Devtian. Indira then sends letters to all the Devtian asking for assistance in the war.Third Chapter - ਤੀਜਾ ਅਧਯਾਯThe demons got the upper hand on the gods and goddesses. Vishnu then sends Nārad as an ambassador to Bīrjnād. Bīrjnād would not listen and prepared for battle. At the beginning of the battle the 11 armies of Bīrjnād that were on foot were destroyed.Fourth Chapter - ਚੌਥਾ ਅਧਯਾਯA great battle full of terror is occurring. Giving Vishnu’s ambrosial nectur (amrit) to the Devitan they re-gained life. After Indira captures the demons, Bīrjnād attains victory and captures/imprisons Indira.Fifth Chapter – ਪੰਜਵਾ ਅਧਯਾਯAfter the Devtian experienced great pain in the battle they went before Akal Purkh and pleaded for help. Akal Purkh manifested himself as Sarbloh (all light). Sarbloh avatar made Ganesh his ambassador and sent him to Bīrjnād. Ganesh’s pleads fell on deaf ears and the war was started. The gods and goddesses used all their power to call on Sarbloh to help them. By getting Sarbloh's darshan all the Devtian and Demons were immersed in bliss. Bīrjnād then begins to praise Sarbloh. Sarbloh becomes a frightening form and has a great battle full of terror with Bīrjnād, in which Bīrjnād is defeated and killed.Following the conclusion of the story of Sarbloh avatar there are the following sections about Vishnu avatar, they are as follows:- Mach (fish) Avatar- Kach (tortoise) Avatar- Barhā (Wild-Boar) Avatar- Nar Singh (Half Man half lion) avatar- Purshraam Avatar- Rām Avatar, called ‘Bīj Ramaein’- Krishna avatar, called, Dasam Sakand (tenth chapter of Bhagvad Purana) It is interesting to know that Sarbloh Avtar was the first avtar of Akal Purkh.

  11. Seems like a lot. Half Sighni saying they keep Rehit and the men are off sleeping around paying them no mind and the other half Singhs saying they keep Rehit and the women are all off sleeping around paying them no mind. Breaks my heart really. I have laughed to myself before that the threads just need to cross and get together.

  12. Codeword for anti-sikh hate is khalistan and khalistani so when they use the khalistani term it is a codeword for Sikhs. If you see their real face and agenda on social media apps like twitter and instagram you will see alot of anti-sikhi propaganda, abuse of Guru's, abuse of gurbani, they are targeting Sikhism directly. Even pro-india Sikhs who don't believe we need a khalistan or support it can see whats going on. The real religious hindu's have no time for these far right hindustani sanghi trolls they too busy in their own religious affairs and spirituality to get caught up in hating other faiths. However these adharmi far right atheist hindustani extremists do not care for promoting goodness they want to promote the ideology of ultra nationalist hindu nationalism with no tolerance for other viewpoints and minorities within that vision so if they create their totalitarian authoritarianism higher caste state they would victimism the dalits again, the jains, the buddhists never mind the Sikhs who they have been victimising because we stand in direct opposition to their evil ideology and oppression of the weak and poor. Also note when far right indian media channels and broadcasters use the term khalistani or khalistan note that it is codeword for Sikh and promoting Sikhphobia. We need serious attention paid by our intelligentsia in the academic, legal, political and religious fields to look into this.

  13. It's difficult to gain a firm grasp on how to view this issue. Gurbani and Gurmat in general to a standpoint which runs contrary to any form of attachment to temporal vestments, i.e. attachment to and accumulation of land, kingdoms, etc., emphasising the transistory nature of the physical, and how none of that comes with us after death. Yet, Sikh history has indisputable moments where our spiritual and martial leaders NEEDED to descend from up high, as it were, and partake in the more-often-than-not base aspects of civilisation-building and protection. Yeah, I know, "Saint-Soldier" but how is this philosophy applicable on a practical day-to-day basis in times of absolute crisis when we're under attack from all sides?

  14. I feel like I'm becoming a veteran at these topics ?! Firstly bro, please do make an account. Secondly, please don't post your number on a public forum. Thirdly, need a lot more criteria than that. I'm in a similar boat to you, though I'm a year older. It's indeed hard, but hopefully the sangat here can make recommendations (once you make an account of course ?). *cough* *cough* @ADMIN , time for matrimonial section? *cough* *cough* ?

  15. To respond to the original topic - In theory, yes Sikhi can be separated from Punjab, however many times we feel a connection due to our history. When we look at the significance of Punjab for us today, there is none except for "pilgrimages" Guru Sahib says the following about pilgrimages and spiritual growth: http://sttm.co/s/21/182 ਤੀਰਥੁ ਤਪੁ ਦਇਆ ਦਤੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥ teerath tap dhiaa dhat dhaan || Pilgrimages, austere discipline, compassion and charity ਜੇ ਕੋ ਪਾਵੈ ਤਿਲ ਕਾ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ je ko paavai til kaa maan || these, by themselves, bring only an iota of merit. http://sttm.co/s/165/2461 ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਤਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥ teerath naataa kiaa kare man meh mail gumaan || But what is the use of bathing at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, when the filth of stubborn pride is within the mind? However, I would also want to have a connection to our culture and tradition of past and it is obviously plays an important role in our history as a panth. I'm not quite sure of my position on this...

  16. I think Gurdwaras should be open, and seva of Maharaj and the sangat should continue. Sangat should be able to do darshan whether it is the end of the world, aliens invading (if you get my point), war, pandemics or anything else until the last man standing. We don't abandon our Guru, the Gurdwara is where we go to collectively pray, serve and do ardas for Maharaj to save us from all pains and illnesses and lok parlok ki rakhiya. At the same time I do think we must do everything in-line professional/medical advice. So must limit numbers inside depending on the building size, sanitise all surfaces, ask sangat so take all the precautions, 2m distance etc, sanitise hands, confirm they dont have symptoms, maybe even track and trace? So at least it meets the requirements. If all done properly, people are safer than when doing there shopping or other activities. Many Gurdwaras have done this really well and it's been absolutely outstanding how organised they have been......others perhaps took a while to adapt

  19. The only reason for the rise of Hindutuva is the threat Hindus feel from Muslims. If Hindus did what Sikhs did in 1947 - get rid of all Muslims from their areas then no one would care about or vote for the likes of Modi. In Pakistan they dont have a right wing Islamic party because there is no threat from another religious group. The muslim league collapsed for this reason, no Hindus to fight against. Look at it from a Hindu's perspective - the Muslims got their own countries Pakistan and Bangladesh, pretty much all Hindus were removed from Pakistan in 1947 and the number of Hindus in Bangladesh has decreased a lot. However despite getting Pakistan and Bangladesh, a whopping one third of all subcontinent Muslims remained in India and they have been breeding like rabbits going from 9% of the population in 1947 to 14% today. Put simply the Muslims got their cake and ate it. They were the number one benefactors of partition. Pakistan has Sharia Law which prevents non muslims to marry Muslim women or convert them, a non Muslim can never be Prime Minister in Pakistan. So this is how Muslims behave when in a majority. What will happen if Muslims keep growing in numbers in India. Look what they did in Kashmir, kicked out all of the minorities. There are also many cases of love jihad where muslim men seduce hindu women for conversion. This is the over confidence and aggression of Muslims, they do this even when in a minority. The Hindus have simply had enough of muslim aggression and the only way they can fight back is through Hindutva and the likes of Modi instead of muslim appeasement like Gandhi and Nehru, it's basic survival. I'm no fan of Modi at all but you can't blame Hindus for voting for him. He seems to be the only one who is standing up against Muslims.
