  1. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh I have been to Bauli Sahib Gurudwara twice in 2012 and 2017.Amazing gurudwara. This is kind of off topic but Jhulna Sahib Gurudwara is amazing. The vibrations there are different. Its just out of this world.I went there at night in 2017.The granthi Singh brought us to the wall and we sat on the wall. After the Granthi Singh did ardas the wall started to shake. The Granthi Singh then told us the Sakhi of the Gurudwara. I am writing this from memory so forgive me if i made any mistakes. The sakhi was that during Guru Arjan Dev ji's time, there was a war between the Mughals and the Sikhs.A few children wanted to have the experience of riding on a elephant and Guru Arjan Dev ji asked them to sit on the wall and made the wall vibrate.Guru Sahib then said that all generations that come to this place will be able to feel the experience of riding on a elephant. This sakhi is also written in Gurmukhi outside the Gurudwara. Bhul Chuk Maf ???

  3. Regardless what anyone feels about the individuals you are questioning, the history is still fairy new and relevant. Ranjit Singh showed he was able to establish a secular and inclusive Kingdom during a time when most of the western world was ruling their lands in quite the opposite fashion. Jind Kaur was exiled after the death of her King and put in prison and separated from her son to insure no reclaim of the throne could be made. Duleep Singh had been groomed to live in England and Christianity was forced upon him at very young age. He eventually returned to Sikhi and after being reunited with his mother, he desired to reclaim his his Kingdom but was denied of this by the British establishment of the time. He was finally denied of his last funeral rights by Sikh faith and buried according to Christian traditions. His grave still lies in Thetford. Ranjit Singhs throne is kept at the V&A museum and the Kohinoor is inset into the Crown. Why is this relevant because the present condition of the the world 5th largest faith group is connected to all these events. We are a distinct group of people with a rich history and faith and we will need to recite our history to the world powers if we are ever going to reclaim our homeland. This is not ancient history and those who have denied us our freedom and put us in this tragic situation need to own up to their mistakes and support our cause for freedom. This is why we should care about these people and this why we should never forget what happened to us.

  4. Memorise Gurbani and do it as you workout in the morning. I've been doing this for a while, and it works, especially if you've a job you need to get to. Sometimes I have to train after work when I get home, but that usually depends on energy levels.

  5. Yeah its interesting how the country is divided with their opinions on Harry/Meghan depending on their political views. 40,000 people complained to Ofcom about Piers Morgans behaviour, and then I think around 100,000 complained that they want him back! If she was a blonde White woman the right wing lot wouldn't be saying the things they are saying. In the last few years I've noticed a rise of interest in the Royals again! It's as if people actually want them! Why on earth would you want these people. But maybe when Charles and that old slapper become King/Queen people might be put off again. They know their not popular and need to tread carefully. Camilla was quite smart in not taking the "Princess of Wales" title. But I dont think they'll ever go, they obviously serve a purpose, if they didn't they would have been ditched a long time back like a lot of their European cousins.

  8. Wjkk wjkf Sangat ji I need some advice and tips. I wish to take amrit and need some help.. My wife is not ready yet - can I still take it without her? Everyone I speak with recommends waiting for her and doing it together. What routine do you guys have? What time do you start nitnem in the morning, how do you fit it in with working out in the morning and getting kids ready for school and then going to work etc? Thank you

  13. Do you know how much protection the likes of ol' big ears have around them? To be chums with them it's like getting into fort Knox. Same goes for top politicians ...to be in any of their circles you are carefully vetted by various agencies, and those dossiers are given to the said VIPs. All the rumours etc are available to them. When the said VIPs claim they didn't know anything about their dodgy habits that's utter bs. Everytime a prime minster selects a minister or someone for a job the Intel services give him/her a breakdown on all the secret stuff know about them .

  14. Don't leave it so close to 6, lol. It's up to you, bro. When I was in poor health and didn't work full-time I woke up at 2.30am for amritvela for a few years. Someone with a tough work and home schedule will obviously have varying things vying for their time. Start only what you can keep doing happily and without resentment. I'm not a fan of peaks of intense devotion followed by troughs of total ambivalence. Just keep it steady and realistic.

  16. Yes, it's heartbreaking to see very poor families who are struggling to feed themselves, being forced to assemble dowries for pathetic, greedy in-laws who don't care about the unreasonable nature of their demands. However, I've lost count of the times when I've seen and heard the bride herself haughtily ordering her father to ensure her dowry is extravagant and voluminous, lol, even though she can see how difficult it is for her parents to assemble it.
    1 point
  17. It is quite complex. Like you said a lot of them ask for dowry so the daughter-in-law doesn't start playing up. Then at the same time some feel they have to give a dowry, like it's an expectation. And then you have some people who have a lot of money and they give dowry to show off, it's part of the pomp and spectacle. I think a lot of it is because of greed as well. My mami got married in the late 80s, now and then whenever she's in a strop, she feels the need to remind everyone that when she got married her father sent some some tables and chairs with her.

  18. If you get rid of the Royal family, what do you replace it with. You could turn the country into a Republic with a presidency. But it is said that it is more costly than the current set up. England in the 1600's got rid of the monarchy when they had the "Lord Protector " Oliver Cromwell. But they went back to Monarchy after 11 years. The monarchy is more of a figurehead, they have no political power.

  19. There are states that have a much higher rate of abortion than Punjab. Punjab have below average rates as per the data provided. The southern states have higher rates as well as the North East states. It seems that urban and progressive areas of India tend to have higher rates than the more backward states. The question then is out of those abortions, how many were carried out because of sex-selection?

  20. It has kind of bugged me why since 1901 census that was always more males than females, then after partition, the male ratio to female ratio born after a 5 year period reversed. This may help to explain some of these reasons: https://www.popsci.com/scitech/article/2008-12/why-does-war-breed-more-boys/ If Punjab has always sees violence through uprising and invasions, it stands to reason that Punjab for centuries has always been at a war-like state or have some low-level intensity conflict. This may help to explain that why Punjab may have traditionally had more males than females. You need more males to fight. There was another link ( I cannot find) which said if there was a high impact short term war, this could skew ratios in one direction and if it is a longer term war, the ratio goes the other way. (Found it: https://academic.oup.com/humrep/article/19/1/218/690115) Partition was a high impact but very short term (a lot of people were killed in a very short period of time) and when this happens, something kicks in at the biological level. I am no expert, but in Punjab's circumstances, more girls are born in this type of scenario The only other country that probably that had the level of genocide that is comparable to partition is Rwanda. They are a population that seems to have traditionally have more females but in some categories of age group (particularly now have more males) I think something like 250,000 people were killed or "missing" in a 10 year period from 1984-1994, this might have skewed the ratio in where more boys are born. Between 1947 and 1981, Punjab had some relative stability which could explain why the ratios were narrowing. Again I could be absolutely wrong in some of my conclusions here, but I think this a multi-faceted issue. One single factor cannot explain it all but it may play a contributing factor.

  21. I've read a little about him, wasn't it the fbi that exposed him? apparently he liked teenage boys in uniforms. He was Charles' "mentor" so it's no surprise Charles finds himself surrounded by sex offenders and paedos lol His poor wife ended up having affairs with every man in sight, including Nehru! her own daughter called her a "man-eater" !! It just shows you how brainwashed some of the British public are, waving stupid at Royal weddings and all the rest. How many sex offenders and paedos have these people been linked to. How did the Queens husband, a man in his late 90s survive after his car crashed and flipped?

  28. Bro, why the unending propaganda about drugs? If you want to be a druggie, then go ahead, but why do you try to shoehorn it into Sikh practices for the average person? You must realise a quom of intoxicated individuals is something that's untenable and incredibly dangerous. If it wasn't such a tenuous proposition to your mind, you wouldn't be constantly trying to convince yourself it's some forgotten practice we need to reclaim and reintroduce.

  31. The next war that takes place, for equality, so women feel equal, can we have an army of 50% men and 50% women ? I'm all for equality, and it's only fair if the same number of women are sent to war to die as well. Preferably the feminists, as they want equality. When the next war is about to take place and mobs of angry feminists are protesting that 50% of the army should be women, I'll be protesting with them as a proud feminist.

  33. Yeah I'd imagine she had a conservative upbringing, and then started getting attention from these men. There's a big difference between conservative and traditional. Just because you're traditional don't mean you are conservative. Like I'd describe my family as "traditional" but far from conservative. Its these boys and girls from conservative families that become weird and freaky. Like those kids from proper conservative Christian families, the girls end up becoming s1uts after the first bit of male attention. I think traditional, yet not strict, is the right way, if you do it properly. Especially for Sikhi. But tradition can go wrong too! if you do it the wrong way! Going the complete opposite of traditional just makes you into your average White family, coconuts. Yeah the Shokar guy probably saw himself as a hero saving Mandil. Probably thought he would get her, or a bit of her in return. Silly man. Yeah he possibly moved to the UK as a kid with recent immigrant parents. Those kids end up going crazy as well, lol, I've seen it.

  34. Its interesting though, Pubjabis especially the older generation believe that its nature, lol. Like when aunties are talking about some female who turned out to be a s1ut, you always hear one of them mentioning something like how the dadhi also ran away with a truck driver back in the old days, lol It's the same with men. When some guy has a reputation for sleeping around etc he always gets compared to his dad if the dad was upto the same back in the days. My interpretation of this is that Punjabis, especially the middle aged lot believe that s1utty behaviour is inherited lol And! they're not that wrong a lot of the time ?

  35. It's a shame because from a purely visual perspective she was perfect wife and mother-of-your-kids material. Attractive enough to appeal to the male gaze, but not TOO attractive that she's had every guy in a 10 mile radius drooling after her since she turned 16 (thus increasing the probability that she'd be seduced in her teens). Even then, her being just a little above average, she's had Singhs killing each other to get with her, which is mental. What do the Punjabi kudiyan who look like a Kardashian get-up to?!? It doesn't bear thinking. Is it nature or nurture, though? I hope it's nurture, because if slutty behaviour is inherent, then God has deserted us. ??

  39. It is possible you bring your kids up in Sikhi but they turn 18, become mone and marry Gora or another Religious / atheist being. But this is not about that!!! Kids require YOUR attention as toddlers. By the time they're 13 they think about YOU as a parent. By the time they're 18+ they will do two things. Point the finger at YOU! or turn to YOU! (you want YOUR kid(s) to do the latter)!!! Now, poor people's kids turn n look up to their parents. In some rich families, kids may have resentment and hatd feelings towards their parents... So, poor or rich is NOT an excuse here. Do YOU show yer kids support and encouragement? Say to them positive things like "You can do it. Put your mind to it. Never give up. Today you're good at cycling tomorrow footy?" OR the negative??? "You'll never b good in life. So n so has more achievement than you. You'll never mount to anything..." If YOU are doing the latter then 15-20 yrs down the line , YOU will pay the price. YOU will have YOURSELF to blame. Your kids will have resentment, disrespectful feelings and not turn to you. YOU CANNOT EVEN SAY I TRIED! YOU DIDN'T!!! Even if your kids don't become religious they will turn to you IF YOU GIVE THEM POSITIVE UPBRINGING! So any new Parents / parents with younger kids, spend time with YOUR kids. Sit, talk n listen to them. They need YOU, YOUR ENCOURAGEMENTS and YOUR POSITIVE VOICE! So many families where everyone's an Amritdhari but no love is there. So many families where only parents are Amritdhari, kids are not BUT... Kids look up and turn to their folks for advise or emotional support. Why??? From a young age these parents taught them Sikhi (but they chose not t follow), gave them positive advice, encouraged and limited the criticism. Positive energy starts when your kids are YOUNG! FIVE OR SIX! Anything after 13's pushing it. DON'T EXPECT A MIRACLE ONCE THEY'RE 18+! It'll b like sum1 did an atrocious job on the varnish only to do a fantastic paint over it. Any DIY expert will kno wha that'll end up as. SAME PRINCIPLE apply. Do it right when they're young they'll look up to u even once they're adults. To sum up DO encourage kids in Sikhism path. DO be their positive energy and support. DO teach them about the world around them. DO take an interest in their activities.

  42. Some cough syrups contain opium and alcohol too. https://americanaddictioncenters.org/alcoholism-treatment/mixing-with-dxm In addition, over-the-counter cough medicines typically contain some amount of alcohol. For instance, Vicks Formula 44 contains 10 percent alcohol (20 proof) and various forms of Robitussin are 3.5-20 percent alcohol. Nyquil contains 25 percent alcohol.
