  4. She had quite an extraordinary life. Daughter of a poor kennel keeper, Its said when she was born her father didn't want a baby girl so decided to bury her alive but then changed his mind. Though born into a humble family she got married to a King and become Queen of one of the richest Kingdoms in Asia. She then witnessed the whole thing crumbling right before her. Her son gets taken away, she gets locked in a tower but manages to escape dressed like a maid and then ends up in Nepal where she lived for 10 years. And then years later she finally gets permission to meet her son in the country of the very people that dethroned her! When she felt her sons face she was horrified that he was clean-shaven, like the people that took her Kingdom away. Its like a fairy-tale but with no happy ending! They should make a movie about her! I think Sikhs in the West should start making movies about all these historical figures, especially the ones that moved to the West, like Rani Jind Kaur, Shaheed Udham Singh, Gadr party etc We've got enough wealth in the community to back the projects! and plenty of talented creative people.

  5. I never posted on the Gurbani section. But I am going try something, if nobody wants to contribute that is OK. One of the aims of Gurbani is not only to connect yourself to Waheguru but it should be how you apply it in your day to day living. People have a lot of mental issues these days and I think that Gurbani can help a lot of people to get themselves straightened out. I wanted to focus on how you have handled Krodh and how Maharaj has helped in this regard. What's part of Bani has helped with this vice and how Gurbani has been applied.

  6. All it means is that devte and asuras are a creation of the Akaal like everything else. They have no more or any less importance to Akaal than any other creation. They are just as flawed as any average human being. Just focus on your relationship with Waheguru.

  8. I went through a period not so long ago where I was giving Maharaja Ranjit Singh some stick for not prioritising Sikh interests, but objectively speaking and after having read up a bit more on his achievements, it's difficult to begrudge the man for what he managed to get done as a ruler. The fact that nobody since has come close to power to that degree speaks volumes. He had his blind spots (no pun intended) but he was definitely someone to be admired.

  9. Conventional Sikhi interprets to resolve Krodh you need more Sukh (at least how I have interpreted, I could be wrong). Which is why Sukhmani Sahib path is very popular amongst the Sangat. Krodh seems to be associated with turbulence and instability. But has anyone actually looked at the causes of Krodh and it's part in the human condition? It like a lot of the other 'chors ' has a function in the human psyche but it should not control you, it is something that needs to be tamed and mastered. In my personal experience the solution to Krodh is not Sukh. Sukh is the after-effect. It is actually dukh. A lot source of anger is pain.

  10. India's interfaith couples on edge after new law Whatever we think of extreme Hindu nut-jobs, we're also acutely aware that love jihad is NOT a "baseless conspiracy theory", yet look how effortlessly the BBC dismisses it as a right-wing fantasy, thus, as far as they're concerned, ending all discussion on the subject. The extent to which the media has openly and unashamedly started to distort the truth and in some cases outright lie is very concerning.

  11. Regardless what anyone feels about the individuals you are questioning, the history is still fairy new and relevant. Ranjit Singh showed he was able to establish a secular and inclusive Kingdom during a time when most of the western world was ruling their lands in quite the opposite fashion. Jind Kaur was exiled after the death of her King and put in prison and separated from her son to insure no reclaim of the throne could be made. Duleep Singh had been groomed to live in England and Christianity was forced upon him at very young age. He eventually returned to Sikhi and after being reunited with his mother, he desired to reclaim his his Kingdom but was denied of this by the British establishment of the time. He was finally denied of his last funeral rights by Sikh faith and buried according to Christian traditions. His grave still lies in Thetford. Ranjit Singhs throne is kept at the V&A museum and the Kohinoor is inset into the Crown. Why is this relevant because the present condition of the the world 5th largest faith group is connected to all these events. We are a distinct group of people with a rich history and faith and we will need to recite our history to the world powers if we are ever going to reclaim our homeland. This is not ancient history and those who have denied us our freedom and put us in this tragic situation need to own up to their mistakes and support our cause for freedom. This is why we should care about these people and this why we should never forget what happened to us.

  13. Nashe and sharab led leaders of last sikh raj away from sikhi. This is the reason we lost khalsa raj. Instead of doing sikhi parchar and history recording they were 2 husy with kaam ,nasha etc. Nasha should be outlawed in khalistan only for medicinal use or atleast in sikh holy cities. There is reports of nihang dals being bhangi/ shaheedi degh adicts. The only point of using it which is inline with sikhi is for medicine but there is much better medicines for that. No point of so called shaheedi degh in sikhi anymore. And sggs instructs against nasha.

  14. Some of them are a55es, but it's difficult to not feel their pain especially if they aren't degenerates just naive. We expect humanity to hear our cries and feel our pain, but we give our own a cold shoulder when they don't live up to a certain standard? How does that work?

  16. A bit of sensational and provocateuring. That Sunny Hundal loves his "rising tensions" spiel. In the diaspora, these Hindutva will get their heads kicked in. There is no BJP or Congress goons or Delhi police to protect them. I welcome a bit of "tension". What this means is that the enemy is on the backfoot.

I won't ignore Muzzie devilish games in order to give Hindus a black eye. They're both scum in my eyes.

  22. If his portrait invokes a desire to be free then yes. He still has a part to play in the pursuing freedom. Until that pursuit is fulfilled we can’t just simply discard him to the history books. Don’t forget the British Empire went to extremes to suppress his history and legacy, because they knew he could spark a revolution even from his tomb.

  25. Yeah I think for many people behind all that anger and hate is some pain and bad experiences. A lot of people with an unstable childhood end up with a lot of anger built up. Personally speaking I'm not someone who has much anger/krodh, I'm quite the opposite actually. Different people "process" pain differently. But I think it comes down to personality aswell, some people are just angry people! It's not necessarily the result of pain and hurt. Anger is probably the most damaging of the 5 chor, it spreads hate and destroys many people. People who join hate groups normally have a lot of anger and hate, the group then becomes like a space where they can vent all that anger. Yeah, we as a community don't talk much about krodh or the complexity.

  27. If you have kids , a good practice is to go to sleep quite soon after they go to bed. To wake up early, you need to go to bed early. When you are getting kids ready for bed, you are kind of getting that 'time for bed' soon vibe in the house anyway. Everyone I know who keeps amritvela goes to sleep early.

  29. Yes absolutely correct Jats are a very inclusive and open community and played a huge part in the Kharku lehar, as did many other communities especially the Mazbi Sikhs. I’m just sick of the constant Jat bashing that goes on and credit should be due for the positives that this community has given. I for one am completely against the caste system, but if somebody is proud of their heritage and culture that doesn’t mean that makes them a supremest. A progressive approach is to discard your negatives and promote and protect your positives.

  37. And this should give all us UK Sikhs an idea of how useless all the psychological analysis and background checks of white policemen are. They've already, as a national institution, allowed thousands of underage girls to be groomed, raped and abused on our streets with their indifference. And now this copper, who has a license to carry firearms and was protecting the US embassy no less - is accused of this..... I think that org has more racists and sickos than they want to admit myself. Going up to the top.

  41. He is right to a certain extent. In the Gurdwara the pitfalls of intoxication and lust are repeated several times but still there are several Gurdwaras with his picture in them. It's hypocritical. It's sad that we have to look up to him so much. Do Muslims go on about Salladin so much? Do Protestants go on about Henry VII?

  42. Can someone knock some sense into shastar singh if u wanna take drugs go ahead, we tried to persuade you not 2. Stop trynna convince yourself that it is ok to when ur a sikh. There is alcohol and nasha free things of almost everything, there is anaestheics for operations(we dont need opium, look what happened to the chinese when they took opium), medicine and tablets for everything. If u wanna become a bhang grower just take ur pag off and put a lal tilak on ur matha, become some pakhandi bhangi baba, double stonks sell bhang and open up ur dera, u can probably trick some gorre as well... saw an article on a bhangi hindu baba in USA or some <banned word filter activated> a while ago... he seemed to be living the life which u want to justify inside sikhi, somewere where it does not belong. Sorry for the bashing but its become quite annoying now, stop justifying nashe!!!
